    Your video just showed up in my feed. I am surprised that the algorithm didn’t recommend you early. I really enjoy the small bike stuff. I noticed a corvair van in the background. I hope to find some videos on that too!

      Thanks! I’m not that great at filming / editing, but hopefully you’ll find something worth watching on my channel.

      Thanks! I’m letting the other handle navigation on the trip, so that I can concentrate on filming as much as possible.

    Hey Mike... How difficult is it to put a Lifan engine on the S65?

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  2 дня назад +1

      @@rodjones1780 Extremely simple. The engine is a direct bolt in. If you plan to run the original fender, you may have to replace the bottom two acorn head nuts for regular hex nuts. I did on mine, due to the extra length of engine stroke, those nuts interfered with the fender, when turning.

    Wowsers, my neighbors and I have been talking about a very similar trip but South and East. Planning to start with a couple 100 mile trips first. 81 cb125. Good luck, should make some awesome videos if you invite RUclips along.

      Are you joining our 100 mile ride in April? Yeah, I’m letting the others handle navigation, so I can concentrate on getting some good trip footage.

    Mike love the video. I’d like to learn more about how you fabricate the racks. I don’t know the first thing about making a custom rack and it would be awesome to see what goes through your head when designing and building a something like a rack, bike stand, or shock compressor from scratch.

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  6 месяцев назад

      This is the first one I’ve ever built. I don’t really have a plan, when I start building something like this. I took a few measurements, to determine how long and wide would look good on the back of the bike. Did I hit those measurements perfectly……nope, but close enough. I guess I just go into each project with an image in my head and then kinda walk thru what obstacles might arise, like making sure it angles up to clear the taillight. For the outer hoop on this rack, I figured out the perimeter distance and then started with a piece of tube about a foot longer. Then trimmed the length to equal it up. Much easier than trying to nail it in one shot.

    Great timing for this video since I’m working on my S65. Any chance you saved a decent front fender from your parts bikes? Mine is kind of misshaped and rubs a bit at present.

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  6 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately, all the bikes were either missing the front fender or it was shattered into pieces. I’ll do some digging and see what I can find for you.

    I completely rebuild the same model. Mine have the turn signals( rectangular lens). Its a Canadian model.

      I looked into purchasing a set of the original style signals, but couldn’t find any, with a reasonable price. These will work just fine.

    Do you have any of the rubber boots that attach to the neutral/high beam light under the headlight that you would like to sell? I need one.

    So,these Lifan motor are reliable? As tough as Honda motor ??

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  6 месяцев назад

      Over the past 20 years, I’ve built somewhere around 60 bikes, using Lifan engines. Tens of thousands of miles and never have had an issue with any of the engines. In my opinion, they are extremely reliable.

      @@MiniBikeMike for sure! It’s gotten a little faster too 😂 I’m waiting on Bart moto to release the new front end for it and then I’m getting 10” tires and rims so hopefully I can pick up a little more speed. I have the yx 140cc now and am also considering getting the tb parts big bore and race head kit for it.

    The design and fabrication of the rack was nicely done and compliments the bike well.
    Over 7,000-miles on a Lifan 125 sure is testimony as to the durability of the engine and your keeping up with the routine maintenance.
    Last thought… including the Car Ferry crossing of Lake Michigan out of Ludington, MI on the S.S. Badger is a great idea to start your 800-mile round trip. My great aunt worked in the galley of one of the Car Ferry’s out of Frankfort/Elberta harbor and I crossed the lake a couple times as a younger version of me. I’m sure that will be one of many high lites of your journey to share with us followers.
