I completely agree! That sensor was the pinnacle of Sony's achievements. I've had all the cameras which used it and they all have something really special about them.
Thanks for bringing some attention to the RX1RII. I'd love to buy into the model, but almost 9 years without any attention or investment is disappointing. The RX1RII could go head-to-head with the Leica Q3 if Sony actually tried.
Honestly, the RX1RII (even the RX1 and RX1R) are still hard to beat a decade after release. The sensors and lens are just soooo lovely. Even the AF on the RX1RII stands up well against Fujifilm's latest and greatest in 2024, including the X100VI, X-T5 and X-H2. The pics are so clean, with beautiful fall off. That 42MP sensor was Sony's best ever. Please, please, PLEEEEASE Sony, make an update that keeps the character of this camera but improves responsiveness, battery life and the feel of the controls. That's all. Keep the same sensor! Really.
Nice comparison! I do use x100v too and it’s a blast to use! I think image quality wise, the full frame sensor of this sony really shined compared to the aps-c. Are the photos from the x100v SOOC? Cheers!
always full frame. but fuji x100/xpro experience unmatched. matched only vs leica m camera, film rangefinder/manual film slr. i think just those 2 lineup will swoop 90% market share of photo artist/casual street shooter. i really love hybrid viewfinder and its many manual focus assist.
Wish someone made one of these premium pocketables with a 50mm. I see why not - less universal focal length since it's too tight for everyday photography and also the longer the focal length the larger the lens tends to need to be - but I can still dream, right?
@@nicolask.3825 yeah you are right, but these EDC cameras are not very pocketable either. The idea is to use like a small bag to carry around. For that even the A6000 with a small len can cover very well.
i sold my x100t for one of these earlier this year and i honestly dont want to use any of my other cameras. it has been my edc ever since. I just did a road trip off the coast of Nor Cal where i packed this and my a7IV but my rx1rii took like 80% of the photos on that trip. if they ever made a mk3 id love to see them slip in a built-in ND filter like the x100 series and of course improved battery life. would also be nice of sony to release a super tiny flash like the leica CF D flash or something similar!
I hesitate to buy the sony rx1r2 or the fuji xs10. I like the fuji feel on the pictures but the sony sensor seems to outperform. Has someone used both ?
The Q cameras are just so huge. And the OG Q was basically a gorgeous lens on a very average sensor. The RX1RII and even the original RX1(R) make nicer pics in most situations in my opinion. I've owned them all!
Also it seems like x100V's are shipping again. At least BJPhoto in Waterloo Ontario Canada has received a few. Who would have thought.
Where buy this camera sony rxI RII?
Sony RX1R II is a legend. The Sensor of the A7R II was a milestone. After this, there was no big development in image quality

I'M SHOUTING. MY CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN

Just ordered an RX1R mk II.
I’m looking forward to see what the next Ricoh GR brings. Truly pocketable. Seems like it could use better autofocus
Same. Had one last winter for a few weeks and really enjoyed it
Im waiting next x100)

Yes. All x100v images were JPEGs from sooc.
@@timmuza Thank you! Fantastic to know!

If you use picture profiles in the sony, you can get processed Fuji style JPEGs or a base raw file to be processed in light room.
THAT'S MY CAMERA!
HI MAGIC
I'm not in the running for either camera, but for me it's the Fuji. I just liked what was coming out of that camera better.
Why was Tim shooting at iso 102400 the whole time?
There is another iso? 😮
I ALWAYS USE THE VIEWFINDER
I'd love to see an updated Sony but the x100v film recipes offer something more unique for an EDC I think. For now I'll stick a 35 2.8 on my old r2.

I wish someone would make two models, one at 28mm and one at 50mm, similar to the Ricoh GR and grx
A6000 with Sony 35mm OSS is very comparable to the size these EDC cameras
@@kicyiu I love my a6000, but I don't think that combo would be very pocketable

i would buy a mk3, but this would take business away from there FF market. for now i am happy with my LX100II

Wonder how the Canon R8 with the new 28mm pancake mathces up vs these.

how do you edit your photos any tips ?
Why are all the X100V shots so noisy? Super high ISO??
I preferred the X100v colors.
Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Waiting a new sony camera.
Does RX have any optical zoom capabilities??
No
Yes it does. But it's better to just crop in post.
Hated the x100v, I think I'll be going back to ricoh
Why are you in need of new RX1? Both versions are more than capable and I don't see much room for improvement.
Battery life would be nice. I’m sure low light and autofocus could be improved as well
A new RX1 with the new Sony IA based detection for autofocus would be killer for EDC cameras
Battery life I guess, plus more responsive AF tracking would be great for documentary and events photographers.
Sony DR is incredible
Problem is dust on the sensor with these cameras. Get a Panasonic GM1 instead. Thanks. toronto.
I haven’t experienced any in my use. Is this a common problem?
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto Google Fujifilm x100 or Sony RX1, and sensor dust.
I was waiting for someone to crash the party with the rattiest Q that money can buy. Maybe next time, eh?

Here's what you do.
You wait and see what cameras they release in 2024 cause the replacements are coming :D
Hopefully
❤❤
A rx1R m3 is welcome and rx100m8
fuji has better color
I agree with you and I think this is very bad comparison. For this very big price rx1r2 is not weather sealing. Why?
Sony is way better!
Easy win to the Sony.
the image quality on the RX1R II is insane 🔥 too bad the price's just as insane for me too 🥲
