1.6 million in Moscow 91. There was more people than that but they had stop counting at 1.6...Rob was the best choice for the band besides his backing vocals were he lacks, Lars isn't the best drummer but makes up for it in creative ideas and song structure. Kirk lead guitar and personality is a perfect match for Metallica and he can riff with James 100% which isn't an easy task, and James is the Riff GOD and one of the best metal frontman ever!
I dont think it'll be any contest that Cliff was the best bassist the band ever had, but Jason was probably the most personable and the one most people think of as being in the band when they truly broke into the big time.
All of the bassists have amazing qualities. And I know where their bass power comes from Cliffs was in his hair RIP Jasons is in his neck Robs is in his knees
Cliff Burton period! Blessed to see him play with Metallica and open for Ozzy in 86 on the master of puppets tour. Absolutely unbelievably incredibly amazing!
@@ChasingAnthems It was in Columbia Maryland in 1986. It was a rainy summer night in August and Ozzy blew the power out of the venue which was outside twice. Thunderstorms for an awesome Ozzy concert doesn't get any better than that! And Metallica kicked major ass. I still have the ticket I still have the shirts no kidding!
I might be of the rare people that actually adore Lars. Also they never play to a recorded track it’s all 100% live bar some effects. Cliff is my favourite bassist and will always be.
@@IASP17 well I’ve been a fan of Metallica and of metal in general since I was 8 and And Justice For All came out and my mum brought it home. I still love Lars despite his mistakes.
@@IASP17 I’ve followed Metallica since Ride the Lightning, I think that’s a very personal comment about Lars..he’s a good drummer. To me personally Mike Portnoy is one of the greatest drummers ever but it’s all personal choice…who’s to say Lars isn’t a good drummer?
Metallica did a Country song,"Mama Said".You need to react to that, great song.Another good one is James on CMT covering Waylon Jennings "Dont You Think This Outlaw Bit Just Got Out of Hand"
Bassist wise I think Rob has the most technical ability of all Metallica bassists. Cliff was just a unique talent and drove the band towards better composition and greater understanding of theory in the early days. Cliff obviously was supremely, off the charts, gifted but Rob has a wider array of techniques committed to record. Each member of the band is talented to the point they need to be and what they do and how they do it works perfectly for one of the most successful bands ever, screw the haters!
Rob is the best fit for Metallica today. He's in the band because no one else could hold it down like him. Rob brings it all to the table, he is an incredible musician, can sing and handle the stresses of fame and the road! Although Jason was incredible, Cliff will always be our favorite on nostalgia alone!
This year is their 40th anniversary of existence. Their biggest crowd ever was Moscow in 1991. It was a free show and there's no official count of the crowd but estimates range from 1 to 1.6 million people. Their best bassist was the first one, Cliff Burton who died in "86 while on tour. Both Jason and Robert are truly great bassists as well though.
DEFINITELY CLIFF BURTON IS THE BEST AS A MUSICIAN AND AS A MEMBER OF THE COMPOSITION STRUCTURE, JASON NEWSTED WAS THE BEST ON STAGE BECAUSE OF HIS PERFORMANCE AND VOCALS, ROB TRUJILLO IS GREAT BASS PLAYER AND HE BROUGHT HIS TALENT IN THE LAST TWO METALLICA'S ALBUMS. HE'S THE BEST BASS PLAYER METALLICA COULD EVER FOUND 🤘🏼🎶
Moscow 1991. Monsters Of Rock. 1.6M fans present. Throughout the show the Russian military was beating up the crowd with batons and flying attack helicopters over the show. Must see. Also I recommend watching guitarist Dimebag Darryl and Pantera play Domination live at the 1991 Monsters of Rock. It's all time epic and in black & white.
Dude you should react to Ride the Lightning live! Or the Outlaw Torn, I believe live in Germany, not the one with the orchestra, that just takes the metal aspect right out the window. If you continue Metallica reactions I'll for sure sub!! I'll tell all my Metallica buddies at their fan club to come too, they also love Metallica reactions! Tysvm!! Oh don't forget about the Day that Never Comes live in Nimes France 2009!! Also they don't need to stay relevant, they are so loved for all their music it's unbelievable!
If your checking out metallica you've got to take a look at their big brother Megadeth and you might as well listen to the greatest metal song in the history of mankind "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due" go ahead and live a little
@@tallycahamuhlhetru26 yes they are, metallica started their career for the most part using Dave Mustaine's music after he asked them not to use his material soon after his firing from the band instead they based their early sound on his riffs and structure, metallica may have become more commercially bigger but they are highly overrated because people are sheep, Megadeth haa produced a ton more music and at a much higher quality than metallica could ever hope to achieve but you metallica zombies keep on denying the obvious
No click track. They have guys that play the back tracks on cue. Lars is not an amazing drummer but he co wrote the majority of the songs and is a pioneer in the thrash metal scene. Nobody played like he did originally. He had his prime but never really got better
Cliff. Robert is a beast. Love his tone. Lars is great, not the best technically but it wouldn't be Metallica without him. I could never see Danny Carey in Metallica.
Not to detract from their ability to make a studio album, but metallica are primarily a live band. If I could steal your early comment and run with it, they feed off the crowd energy indeed...and return it right back. Proper symbiosis
My favorite Metallica Bassist? Um, Cliff is the obvious choice, we didn’t get to see his full potential….but I love all three of the four. Of four? Yes Mcgovney was there in the beginning, but not in any of the next 3 bassists stratosphere
Cliff Burton contributed the most intellectually. He influenced metallica to have the harmonized leads and creativity. Robert Trujillo is very competent. I think they would make some better songs if they let Robert Trujillo contribute to there song structures more.
Lars is just fine. The complaining about his skills came about not because of his skills but because he was the out front, vocal, face of Metallica when they sued Napster. Pissed off people who were mad because they thought they wouldn't be able to steal music anymore then started nonsense about his skills and everyone started repeating it. True over the years he may have slowed down a bit but so the heck would you at 50-60+ years old. The fact is Metallica is not who they are without Lars on drums not to mention arranging the songs.
What do I think about Lars? He's way over hated. Doesn't deserve it. Brings a lot composition-wise and is a really fast drummer. Wait till you get to 4 doesn't, creeping death, whiplash and songs like that. You should check out songs fron their Seattle '89 video. High quality recording/production with tons of cool footage.
i prefer james doesnt talk to the audience during the song & make people sing the words for him. He didnt do that cra0p in the old days, back when they were awesome
This show had 2.5 mil. Cause every one Mexican always comes with 1000 family members. Gotta love my people.

Robert is the best bassist, Cliff was the best musician, and Jason was the best performer.
Cliff was taken to early RIP but the main 2 that took the spot i think they both filled the role pretty damn well
When I saw them at the Rose Bowl, they said it was 70k people there. It was sold out. Now you see why I love this band so much lol
