The talent of this band, let alone the history. Phew. Deep dive. If it wasn't so documented it would be hard to believe. Love your channel. Fantastic content.
You weren't annoying at all man. I love when you go on tangents. Its you really getting into the music. All of us can remember that first time we heard these bands. Now we gotta get you to some live shows, gotta set up a gofundme or something. Keep on keeping on man
I was never a huge fan of Metallica. I loved some of their songs. That is, until I heard and saw this magnificent performance. Such courage, such feeling, such perfect musicianship in the pouring rain. I have become not just a fan but a huge believer in the power of metal music.
Good news, this is indeed mind bogglingly impressive to me, been a metallica fan for 30 years but this recentish performance really impressed me. If you want to see another amazing recentish performance you should check out their performance of fight fire with fire in Mexico city, shouldn't be hard to find... Stay metal 🤘🏻
There’s no substitute for seeing Metallica live. I’ve seen them about 14-15 times live, going all the way back to 1986, and every single show has been absolutely amazing. The top tier show for me though, was their 1989 Damaged Justice tour. There was just something about their attitudes and playing on that tour that made it stand out as the most exceptional live show I’ve ever seen. I have a feeling it was due to them not having mourned the loss of Cliff properly, having Jason as the new member and the fact that it’s the first tour that they were the headlining band for instead of a support act. Those 3 things seemed to combine to just make this beast of a performance. I’d suggest you watch any live song from the 1989 Seattle concert. Every song is insane and amazing. My dream finally came true in 2009 when I got to meet the band. A year prior I had an accident and became disabled. I was at a really low point in my life and I managed to win a meet and greet through the Metallica club, after entering to try to win one for 10+ years. I brought my father to the show, and it was his first concert ever. Not first Metallica concert, first live concert he’d ever been to. He wasn’t a metal fan, but he loved the energy of the band and the crowd. He recognized the energy in the air and that it had a palpable feel. I wish I could have met Jason, but Rob was really cool. All 4 of them were incredibly nice and down to earth. James even embarrassed me by cracking a joke at my expense. Nothing mean spirited, but it took me by surprise and I kinda look like a bumbling moron. Of course this was caught on video and is in the beginning of the video for that concert here on RUclips. I am forever immortalized as an idiot, bumbling fan. I swore I wouldn’t act like a stupid fanboy, but as soon as James was standing in front of me, I just fell apart. This was the man that inspired me to play guitar when I was 13. This was the man whose music literally saved my life as a teenager, because if I hadn’t had guitar as an outlet and the music of Metallica, I’m positive I wouldn’t have made it. Anyway, that concert holds a special place for me, not only because I met them, but because my father was there with me. He’s gone now, and it’s one of my most cherished memories of our time together.
So glad you chose this version. Crazy badass playing in the rain - like you said. 🤘🏻🤘🏻 BTW they just released a new song last week and it rocks as hard as any of their stuff that I've ever heard. F-ing closing in on 60 years old and these guys are rockin harder. I love Metallica! And it was another great reaction Polo. I'm not a bullshitter either. I ain't got time for that. Peace brother. Love your channel!✌🏼
You definitely need to see them live brother. You think it’s powerful through headphones wait until you’re right in front of that sound. I’ve been seeing Metallica live since the 80s and never disappoint. They were definitely faster and nastier back in the early days, but they’re more professional and put on a great show these days.
HooooooWEEEEE!!!🤗 I'm 65 now, and I was just able ta go to my first heavy concert 4 years ago!!! Bein METALLICA!!! IT WAS A MAJOR HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE!!!! Please GO POLO!!! 😃🤘
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Go to a metal concert or show, even a local one from a small band can bring so much energy, it really is cathartic getting to let out all that aggression in a positive environment!
Lars Ulrich is the drummer 😊 I still remember when I figured out what the song was about 🤯 for me it is genius. I saw Metallica in the 80’s when they were still an opening act. They were opening for Ozzy and it was a very short time after when they started headlining. They were great then and are equally as great now in my opinion. I didn’t think you were annoying at all 👍🤘
Dude, never been to a concert? It's like the difference between the headphones and the truck speakers, and not just feeling the music more, but the crowd as well. Definitely worth it, whoever you want to see live. Here's hoping you don't have to wait much longer
Dude you aren't annoying lol. I just stumbled upon your channel and you are by far the best reaction dude out there in my opinion. You have an open mind, you seem genuine, and I get a good vibe from you man. Keep up the good work. You Killin it❤ Semper Fi.
Polo, don't feel sad for not discovering Metallica until now, at least you are onboard now. I didn't get on the Metallica train until 1992, when their Black album was released. Since then, I have enjoyed catching up with their first three albums and hearing how their sound has progressed to today. A new album is coming out in 2023. Can't wait. Thanks for doing the rainy Master of Puppets. I was blown away by it when I first saw it.
75,000 members of The Global Metallica-army at Ethihad Stadium in Manchester worshipping The Undisputed Kings of Music 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘. I have seen them live 18 times….you MUST go see them 🔥🔥🤘They are LIVING LEGENDS. The best live band for so many years and Metallica have to be considered one of the greatest bands ever. There will never be a band like Metallica again 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Not annoyed at all, dude! Love to hear your reactions. We all know these songs in our sleep, what is more interesting is how someone like yourself feels hearing this for the first time. It’s takes us back to our first time too.
ive never been to a metal concert either, and ive been listening to it for 25 years. introvert and stuff; come to Belgium, lets expand horizons together
I'm taking my grandson to see Metallica in London end of Sept for his 16th Birthday ❤ Great show Polo - love the panoramic mix of sounds you present. Big thanks 🇬🇧☘️
It's one thing for the crowd to sing along with the chorus....but it's something else when the crowd sings the guitar solo. If you want another incredible version of this song live, check out the official video. It was filmed probably in the last 10 years or so and is interspersed with footage from a film they produced called "Through The Never". Talk about "crowd control". They know how to get the crowd involved. Nothing beats Metallica live!
Live metal and hard rock bands love to feed off the energy of the crowd, get super turnt up and give the energy back. It's like the band and the audience are tossing a beach ball of energy back n forth that gets bigger and bigger. The bands have to plan their set lists so they have a slow or mid tempo song every now n then to keep the crowd from going crazy (also lets them and you take a breather)
Seeing Metallica live is an experience like no other. I have been to many concerts, festivals and so on. Metallica is still the best live show and honestly I've seen them 4 times, but couldn't tell you which was best. Sacramento, Denver, San Francisco and Sacramento again. Denver might of been the craziest all around for me.
Don't try n BS us @POLO REACTS. You know damn well what makes these music reactions so popular. You know why we here. NOSTALGA. Love your energetic reactions and the tangents. That just proves you aint faking the reaction. This was a great reaction, dude.
Not sure if somebody already pointed this out, but there is a cool thing to notice...... the guitar the singer is playing has been specially made for him by a luthier named Ken Lawrence and the top of the body is made with wood taken from some planks from which the garage where they were rehearsing the songs that would go into the "Master of puppets" album in 1985-86 was made of..... so basically that guitar is made from a piece of the place where this song was composed....... cool stuff !!
Absolutely love your take on this. For context, I first saw Metallica live in 1985 when I was seventeen years old. I love them and have seen them multiple times since then, including at this concert. I was on the front row and believe that this was the best live performance that I have ever seen from them! Playing in the rain makes it so special, they were on it on that night. It's easy to get over hyped on a band that you have followed for decades, but your comments echoed my own thoughts on this performance. Just a piece of trivia for you, the body of the guitar that James (lead singer) is playing here is made from boards from the garage where they first rehearsed as teenagers!
@14:30 The drummer in a band, every band, is The Master of Puppets...they set the mood, groove, and tempo for each song and lead the band through changes that occur.
lars Ulrich, drummer. He testified in congress about twitter stealing copyrighted music from Metallica and others , changed history about companies stealing and selling music for free . Some history, going way back. Check it out, great history.
You are never annoying. NEVER. You're a class act and down to earth. Btw, you really should see Metallica in concert, it's worth it. I first saw them in the 1980s and was blown away.
I was there, the rain was relentless and it was almost like they stepped it up just to prove a point, seen them 9 times and this was by far the best, incredible energy
"How do you top that...?" Oh, y'know, several decades of practice and experimentation! Iterate, iterate, iterate. The instant feedback from live crowds is fantastically helpful. :D
Don't worry about the way you try to explain it it's all good I think it's beautiful watching you experiencing for the first time I remember doing the same thing back in the day LOL
you have to listen to "to live is to die" from "and justice for all". For me it is a musical masterpiece with so many ups and downs In these 10 minutes I forget everything around me. pure emotion
You will love a concert, and Metallica would be a great one to see. As you could see, they are fantastic live. When you go, don't get the least expensive seats. The sound is usually not very good, and you will be far away. Also, don't get down on the floor. Closer, but hard to see, and expensive. Go for the mid priced seats (lower level). A lot of times, Metallica plays in the round (middle of the floor), so there are a lot of great seats around them. You'll love it! Don't wait too long, the guys still rock hard, but nobody lasts forever!
Well, they may be able to transport some energy but musically they've always been crap live, they were known for really sketchy performances back in the 80s and since Hetfield had to change his vocal style he can't but ruin all the old songs now.
@@DerEchteBold I happen to have known one of Kirk’s cousins growing up. She worked for my mom. I was in high school (Freshman), and would hang out in the break room a lot until my mom was done with work. Anyway, one day she asked if I’d ever heard of a band called, “Metallica.” My jaw dropped when, after commenting about how she guessed they were pretty popular. Even more when she said her cousin was their lead guitarist. She meant Kirk Hammett, and proceeded to tell me all about his childhood up to auditioning for the band, and being hired.
Great reaction, again! I've seen them live 10 times, starting in '89 to my last one in 2016. Hoping I get to see them this year again too. Their current tour is epic, and they have a lot of videos on their page from it! Hope you can react to some of those videos, and hopefully you get to see them live in person! Being their is like an out-of-body experience, just insane energy! This might be their last tour.
What an awesome reaction video. I learn so much about music from you, especially metal. I definitely didn't understand its power and beauty until I started watching your videos.
Man if i had the money i buy you a ticket. To see Metallica once in life is a most. I habe seen them 3 times. Last time was around load/reload. Im so happy that i will see them again this summer in Gothenburg Sweden!
I saw Metalica in Montreal in 1985at Le stade olympique still remember like it was yesterday, they are same when you are a rocker it's in your soul meeting Forever and still listen today GREAT
I’m really enjoying your reactions. I get quite emotional when listening to Metallica and you’re hitting the points with fresh eyes it’s awesome because as they say you can only see something for the first time once ❤
Love your channel. When i saw u were doing live version, i thought’cool’. when i saw the green lights i knew it was THIS version my favorite video live of this. THIS VERSION IS AWESOME!!!🎉🎉🎉
Ah, heck yes!! You DID watch the one in the pouring rain! =D Also, the rain makes the drums sound better~ If you notice, there was a teckie running around making sure a fire wasn't going to start while they were playing- You didn't expect them to nail it?! My dude, they've been doing this for about 40-50 years now. It's practically muscle memory.
hey man, don't apologize to no one, its your channel and everyone would usually rather you give an honest opinion and reaction, I like your comments and we all love seeing others like what we all love ✌🏻we are all just jealous bc we wanna hear it again for the very 1st time 😂
one of the best concerts i went to was The Prodigy at the MK Bowl over here in the UK , so glad i went to that, such an amazing experience and a good time, sadly Keef took his own life a couple of years ago so it makes my concert visit even more special, if you have the chance to goto that special gig, do it today !!!!
20 year old you would consider you the dopest old guy watching other old guys ever! This is coming from an old guy, so I'm allowed. Also, even if it's just a local show at a bar, live music is something you need to experience.
I took some non-Metallica fans to one of their concerts. They knew one or two songs from the Black album. I told them they are about to see one of the best live bands ever, and it wouldn't matter that they won't know the songs. By the end, every one of them were Metallica fans.
Treat yourself to a concert-it’s fun to share what your first concert is. Metallica on tour-2 days, no repeats! Kirk Hammett is phenomenal. Ps-my 1st concert was RATM, Alice In Chains, Tool, and Primus (1993)
You're so right when saying musicians have to be seen live to be judged. Specially rock and metal bands. The version with the San Fransisco Symphony (S&M 1) orchestra is something else. Imagine the chance that's yours: you've got a whole world of fantastic bands ans artists and pieces of music to discover! i'm 51 y.o and I've been doing the same with all kinds of music such as jazz, classical music 70's bands I heard of but never listened to for exemple. Just dealing with metal, wich is one of my favorite music style, you got an entire universe with galaxies of genres, sub-genres and even sub-sub-genres from the softer and most ethereal to the loudest and most brutal. Lots of virtuosos musicians too. We must appreciate the fact that we still have to find out and enjoy great art creations. Metallica has so much more to show than just power and energy. You'll see my friend.
@17:50 Empathetic people sence other empathetic people, you're the real deal. Why we all love you and subscribed to your channel. P.S. Oh and you have a smooth, soothing, calming, relaxing voice. Cheers from the Netherlands.
You’re response is so epic. You got lost in the music and forgot you were doing a reaction video!! 😂 awesome. I have only been to one concert at this super famous level and I am proud to say it was the Metallica the And Justice For All tour in the early 90’s! I couldn’t hear a thing when I walked out of there lol. Yeah baby!
you must watch Enter the sandman in Mexico City! Masterpiece! They're like wine and live they're the best, always!! the energy rage from the fans! I listen to them since I was 12 , and don't think I'm a rock girl tipe, the opposite, but they're my fav band ever!!! In may I'll go to my first Metallica concert and I cannot wait!
Buddy I grew up poor and in 92 I think I was my buddy took me to see Metallica and it blew my mind. I was into rap then and it changed. I've seen them live a few times. The best was at the Forum and James couldn't hear himself bc the crowd sang every song
This is true talent and professionalism at its finest✨. I’m so happy to see you and others opening up to new journeys in your music repertoire. If you ever get the chance and haven’t seen it yet they have a documentary the making of the black label Metallica I believe it’s been eons since I saw it last. They are an amazing band that have had their ups and downs and as family not just a band they’ve prevailed and look at them now still rockin😇✌️✨
I've never been to a big concert either. Money issues and anxiety issues and I cant legally drive (my anxiety is that bad) so there's that too. I have a great selection of live DVD's. I saw Harry twice this year but it was a small crowds. Still for the first time in 10 yrs I went to a show. 2023 Im gonna attempt to see a show in Atlanta, if my anxiety lets me. Gotta go see harry in front of 1?eople. That's gonna be soooo FREAKING LIT. IDK 18 hundred ppl and Ive never been in a city big as ATL and im prolly gonna have to stay the night.
In this song, the first part is the drugs calling you in ... Then the softer tempo represents the euphoric feeling of giving in and taking a drug..... Venice speeds back up as if you are coming down and then the guitar solo is chaotic like your spiraling out of control.
You definitely need to get to a live show. I remember seeing Metallica live at Day On the Green, at Oakland Coliseum, while waiting for Metallica to come onstage we started a mud fight with the Grass from the Baseball/football field.
They are a finely tuned fire breathing metal machine hitting on all 8 cylinders. They grab ahold of you and don't let go until their music has its way with you in the best way.
The talent of this band, let alone the history. Phew. Deep dive. If it wasn't so documented it would be hard to believe. Love your channel. Fantastic content.
Yeah, they've been through alot. Lars just turned 59 yesterday bless his lil brooding Danish ♥
I’ve seen Metallica 8 times over the years and the shows never fell off! These guys are the epitome of stamina live!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Same amount of times for me! Always great live!
same...still otherworldly 🤘🏻🤘🏻
They’ve always been road worriers.
Yeah I try to catch every show when they're in my country
When was your first Metallica show
You weren't annoying at all man. I love when you go on tangents. Its you really getting into the music. All of us can remember that first time we heard these bands. Now we gotta get you to some live shows, gotta set up a gofundme or something. Keep on keeping on man

You HAVE to react to them live in Seattle 1989. The entire show was bananas start to finish.
That Seattle version of The Thing That Should Not Be is still my favorite version of that song ever.
There’s no substitute for seeing Metallica live. I’ve seen them about 14-15 times live, going all the way back to 1986, and every single show has been absolutely amazing. Absolutely!

Same, saw them open for Ozzy in ‘86!! 🤘🔥🥰
@@lisaheathcock7924 Detroit, Joe Louis Arena 😁 still one of the best concerts I have ever been to
and some people still hates him (for me without Lars there is no Metallica)
They made their careers playing LIVE!!!!!
They’re the first live act I ever saw opening up for Ozzy in’86
RIP Cliff \m/
Dude, never been to a concert? It's like the difference between the headphones and the truck speakers, and not just feeling the music more, but the crowd as well. Definitely worth it, whoever you want to see live. Here's hoping you don't have to wait much longer

They are the GOATS for a reason. They know how to put a great song together and boy can they perform it too. 👍
@Metallica is fucking awesome. Ben a fan of them since 83.

Listened to metallica since mid 80s here in Ireland and that breakdown onwards gives me goosebumps still to this day. Goats!

Nothing like legions of devoted fans for backup singers! I really love their S&M album. They sound fantastic live with a classical orchestra backing!
Omg it’s brilliant 😂😂😂
I was digging this right along with you. That was fun.Thank you!
James is more scared of catching on fire again than riding the lighting
This deserved more likes.

Interesting fact. When they perform live, they perform the songs at 125% speed

I love you’re reactions. Just keep doing what you’re doing! If people want to watch a video un-interrupted they can go watch it without a reaction! 🙃
I love what you’re doing ! Truly amazing. I’ve seen them in concert 13 times! Rock on Metallica!
They've always been very good live but I agree it seems like it's getting even better it's probably due to the fact that they're much more sober now.

Nice anecdote ...but why in holy hell would you tell me that?
@@DerEchteBold As a fan since I before they signed to electra, citation DESPERATELY needed...

What are you talking about?
Great reaction, again! I've seen them live 10 times, starting in '89 to my last one in 2016. Hoping I get to see them this year again too. Their current tour is epic, and they have a lot of videos on their page from it!
Hope you can react to some of those videos, and hopefully you get to see them live in person! Being their is like an out-of-body experience, just insane energy! This might be their last tour.
What an awesome reaction video. I learn so much about music from you, especially metal. I definitely didn't understand its power and beauty until I started watching your videos.
This song along with Battery and One are definitely one of their highlight songs every concert.
Creeping death as well.
Man if i had the money i buy you a ticket. To see Metallica once in life is a most. I habe seen them 3 times. Last time was around load/reload. Im so happy that i will see them again this summer in Gothenburg Sweden!
They've been nailing the intro for almost 40 years!!! haha
Metallica is one of the best bands live ever \m/
I saw Metalica in Montreal in 1985at Le stade olympique still remember like it was yesterday, they are same when you are a rocker it's in your soul meeting Forever and still listen today GREAT
The francophone
I’m really enjoying your reactions. I get quite emotional when listening to Metallica and you’re hitting the points with fresh eyes it’s awesome because as they say you can only see something for the first time once ❤
Let’s all go see Metallica together. Road trip!
SHOTGUN!!!
And now you know why Metallica fans are so passionate.
This song is almost 40 years old and only gets better with time.
Iconic live performance! Glad to see you do this one.
Also, the rain makes the drums sound better~ If you notice, there was a teckie running around making sure a fire wasn't going to start while they were playing- You didn't expect them to nail it?! My dude, they've been doing this for about 40-50 years now. It's practically muscle memory.
hey man, don't apologize to no one, its your channel and everyone would usually rather you give an honest opinion and reaction, I like your comments and we all love seeing others like what we all love ✌🏻we are all just jealous bc we wanna hear it again for the very 1st time 😂
These guys are 58-60 years old now. You need to check out Seattle 1989 or live in Moscow 91. I've been listening since 1985!! Love your reactions!!
one of the best concerts i went to was The Prodigy at the MK Bowl over here in the UK , so glad i went to that, such an amazing experience and a good time, sadly Keef took his own life a couple of years ago so it makes my concert visit even more special, if you have the chance to goto that special gig, do it today !!!!
I've seen them live twice, and they're amazing live!!! Can't wait to see them again...
@DM..MR_POLOREACTS awesome! Not sure if this what you meant, else I'll have to ask my daughter...🤣🤣
Oh ok its the live version. I knew You'd reacted to this.
Fun fact: James' guitar was made from the wood from the garage where they wrote Master of Puppets
20 year old you would consider you the dopest old guy watching other old guys ever! This is coming from an old guy, so I'm allowed. Also, even if it's just a local show at a bar, live music is something you need to experience.
Love of the music is love for the fans regardless of conditions Metallica! 🤗
He always has the coolest guitars!
Yeah baby!
Metallica was born to be a live band. 😎
Best Rock Band ever. I’ve seen them several times. Mind blowing bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is an incredible performance 💪💪💪
you must watch Enter the sandman in Mexico City!
Can't believe they're still down stroking that shit after all these years!!
Somebody take this man to a concert! And film him please 👏👏🤘🤘
In this song, the first part is the drugs calling you in ... Then the softer tempo represents the euphoric feeling of giving in and taking a drug..... Venice speeds back up as if you are coming down and then the guitar solo is chaotic like your spiraling out of control.
I was there! I kid you not, a week later i was still full on adrenaline! Just another level!
