Epic board for beach break, fast, loose, skatey, enough drive after one pump..super fun!

I love to hear Matt talk concave and technical stuff. Why and how it does what it does, or should do....

I picked up a 6’10 crowd killer round in C4. Love it,

They have such a smooth ride, the C4 helps dampen any chatter

I have this board with a round tail. It is more of a quiver killer than my actual quiver killer.

What construction you have it in? c4, carbon or PU? How you like it?
I have the old puddle jumper in 5'9x21.5x2.63
Im debating whether if I should get the HP in 5'8x 20.5x2.5 or 5'9x20.75x2.53
      Thanks

I have it in c4, its extremely strong. I think it makes sense to scale down a tad coming from the pjog to the pjhp. If i was going to do it over I woulda got a squash tail and shot for around 38Ls stock dims. I went 40Ls hoping to ride it in 1-3' but found I prefer it in 2-6. I think the added volume was un necessary as no short board Ive found really likes a 1' wave. Slightly less bulk may have made it easier to duck dive and overall maneuver.

@@user-xb8kz6qb5q thanks for the reply, that helps alot, I figured I'd get the round hp for slightly bigger waves, nothing crazy like 4 to 6ft, since I already have the pjog.
How much do you weigh if you don't mind me asking? I wonder if the squash hp can handle waves from 4 to 6? Thoughts?

Im 180Lbs. I too got the round tail for the option of gger waves and it works fine. Interestingly enough though I’ve had to put a medium rear fin in with two large front fins to really blow out the tail on a cutback. I assume the squash tail would help provide a better pivot point. I hear people either love or just like the round tail, but everyone pretty much like the squash. My friend was riding his in 6 foot Ocean Beach SF the other day and seemed to not have any problem holding into the face. Any more than 6 feet Surf and for me the board is too slow, So the round tail really seems to be more like if that’s just your thing not a ticket for riding 1-8' surf. Just my opinion, It may matter though where and how you surf too.

It's not really a review if it's with the shaper. Reviews are independent opinions - this is an interview.

J Smith It’s not a review but I think it’s cool to listen to the shapers take on the board

@@ronnie8489 Agreed, it was pretty insightful to hear Matt talk about how 2 + 1 interacts with different tail bottom contours.

I was looking into buying this board as my first shortboard, I am 13 and stand about 5 foot 4 inches, what size board do you think I would want to get?

Boom, thanks for reaching out. There are some more details we'd need like your weight and the type of waves you plan to be riding. Shoot us an email at REALPro@realwatersports.com and we can get you on the right size board

I heard it bogs as a thruster

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  4 года назад +2

Geoff, it felt pretty good as a thruster when we rode it! That could have been a sizing issue, maybe a little too many liters when they rode it
