One reason the windsors sound so good is because they have cast iron heads not aloy ones. The aloy softens the sound and absorbs some of it. The iron just bounces the sound off it hence the old scool v8 sound.

*GARBAGE* A WINDSOR only has an exhaust pocket, it can barely be called a port because it's milled on a 45° angle!

Enjoyed the review of the AU Pursuit 250, Ross. We don’t see many of these on the road. This one is the only one I’ve seen in person. You must have had a lot of fun driving it. Especially with it being a manual. They sound much better than the autos. It’s the cleanest AU Ute I have seen. A credit to the owner once again for keeping it in such good condition. Great review from your Sydney trip. Looking forward to the rest of them. Especially the PSICO F6 review.

There are a few other running gear features unique to the P250. The suspension is lowered compared to the regular XR8. Hence the reduced payload rating. I was also not rated to have a tow bar, there's a statement it the owners manual. The P250 also has a 2 piece drive shaft with a center bearing setup as the one piece XR8 setup was not rated for the extra speed of the P250.

    • @RossReviewsau

A family member owned one many years ago before he passed away. It was a manual trans and it was a fun beast to drive. But as soon as the rain came down it was parked in the garage. It had so much power that the arse end would be all over the road without even trying as it's just too light over the rear end for it to grab traction in the wet. I wish I could have bought it but unfortunately it got sold as part of the estate.

I bought one new, monsoon blue manual with the brembo brake kit.(Someone told me it was the only one in that spec) Great car but didn't have nearly enough rebound in the front shocks The thing would porpoise on the shit roads around where I live. I put Bilsteins on it and an adjustable front sway bar and transformed it. The driving position in the AU was beautiful. When it had too many K's I got an F6 BF ute and the driving position was awful by comparison and because of the bigger tunnel it lost the left foot rest. I liked the AU much more although the 310 KW turbo 6 was a great engine.

5.6 Windsors very few of them were produced and sold late 90's and Early 2000's. 5.6 Windsor would have been in same league as 5.7 Chev ( LS1 ) cause 5.0 Windsor that came in AU XR8 was no match against LS1. 5.0 Windsors in AU was from 178kw - 220km MAX. I don''t have the Wheel's magazine anymore and it was quoted in there by Ford Australia that the max power 5.0 Windsor could produce was 220KW. While the natural enemy 5.7 chev in VT came in 220KW-250KW and 300KW in GTS. If time travel is invented I would love to go back and get a Barnd New TS50 in a Automatic and run that on Royal Purple Engine Oil. Ross good to see you review good ole 5.6 windsors.

The A naming convention was dropped because AU was very unpopular overall, and Ford wanted to distance the next Falcon from it.
With F you got FG and FGX, there were no further Fs as Fomoco stopped making Falcons.
