HUGE Cedar Point fan but since Maverick I’m so sick of Cedar Fair blaming and blasting the manufacturers… they are literally mad at everyone except maybe B&M at this point… the went with the cheapest bidder who high jacked a couple former Intamin engineers and acted like they hired a coaster company with 100 years of experience…. It doesn’t work that way. Cedar Fair is learning a great lesson, stop being so fooking cheap and stop holding grudges against top notch manufacturers that built your park cutting edge iconic rides. Self reflect stop worrying about share holders and infinite profit. That’s what got you here.
They've always pushed the limits for records too. If they went with regular designs, maybe they wouldn't have as many issues. But then it wouldn't be as good of a collection. Almost every ride has had teething issues, and people are surprised there's more
Cedar Point really should have just given Intamin a second chance to fix the ride. They know this type of coaster best despite its unreliability. And they could have easily made the adjustments necessary to ensure the ride’s longevity with their awesome new trains. Cedar Fair’s resentment over Intamin came back to bite them in the ass.
I’m guessing the lawsuit settlement they had to make with the young lady that got hurt on the ride had a lot to do with the resentment, they probably fought over who was liable and there’s probably a lot of bad blood from that, just my guess.
Seriously. Their products have been more reliable of late, they're intimately familiar with LSM multi-launches, they're intimately familiar with the original Dragster, they had trains already designed for this kind of ride model. Price point is probably the only downside here, but you get what you pay for.
@@ryanreed7688 doesn't matter. If you get mild food poisoning at a restaurant, you're probably not going back. If you get food poisoning that almost kills you from two separate orders, you're definitely not going back.
If the company doesn't work with Intamin, Zamperella, or RMC due to Cedar Fair's past issues and then the past issues with Gerstlauer with Six Flags, they're running low on coaster manufacturers. I know there are others, but I wouldn't touch S&S right now as they're not terribly reliable. With B&M and Mack being so pricy, it's getting to be slim pickings. Vekoma, it's your time to say hello again.
And Premier Rides not knowing that someone thicker than an average TV remote needs to pass thru their restraints to be seated on a train... So I'm not the biggest fan of theirs either. And I'm actually not a bigger person at all.
I wish they would just say what is wrong with it. You walk around the park and you can just hear people talking about this ride all day. Also they should close the gift shop. I thought it was a dumb look to have an entire merchandise stand selling stuff for a ride that hasn't been open in months
As they said that there is an issue with the trains … my best bet is, that cedar after opening the coaster, decided to add belt restraints on the trains, like on allmost all their coaster … but you can’t just add belt restraints to a train
@@Thefury325 we’re not. Tony Clark stated in a Podcast the rumors about the update on the 25th are not true. There is no additional information to give
The Cedar Fair and Intamin relationship was definitely ruined by Shoot the Rapids. Volcano was inherited by Cedar Fair from Paramount. They already stopped working with Intamin prior to Volcano being removed.
Exactly. And also, Cedar Fair wasn't overly happy with I305, even though it is a near perfect ride with minimal downtime, but that was Cedar Fair's fault by putting an enthusiast-friendly ride in a more GP oriented park. The GP hates I305 and there's rarely much of a line for it, but that's Cedar Fair's fault for putting it in Kings Dominion instead of say Cedar Point or even Kings Island which are more "enthusiast parks".
Zamperla employs a lot of Intamin's employees. The same crew that worked the original TTD for Intamin, also worked TT2 working for Zamperla. So via proxy, Intamin DID do this ......
@@FAFO4wisdom-s9oYou say Intamin EMPLOYEES as if they are in charge of Zamperlas finances. Ofc intamin employees know how to build a strata-coaster BUT they are not in charge of the materials used or the company's budget. So yes it is Zamperlas fault. Intamin employees just did what they said.
@@eastcoastfishin5885 they also work the design team. 👀 The financiers base the budget of of what the engineers tell them. At least, as I mentioned before, Zamperla is WILLING to do what it takes to get the ride up and running regardless of how much it costs THEM, whereas Intamin was always resistant and unwilling to pay to fix their mistakes.
@@FAFO4wisdom-s9o Some people that worked on the original. That left the company that build TTD. That had to work without anything except their experience, on one of the fastest rollercoasters in the world. They also lost years of development that intamin has done. Like zamperla would always be behind intamin. Intamin is legit the most advanced rollercoaster company introducing so many innovations. Companies like mack (extreme spinner), vekoma (new loading on flying coasters) and B&M (tons of different train designs/surf coaster) are all companies that have brough massive innovations. Zamperla simply hasnt. RMC didnt come from nothing either. They for years had been working on wooden rollercoasters, before introducing the I-box track.
I feel that Zamperla might still have opportunities with them, however not for coasters after this fiasco. I mean they're known more for their flat rides than coasters (when it comes to quality) so completely blacklisting them wouldn't be a good idea with their impressive flat ride selection they have to offer that is proven unlike TT2. Also I'm pretty sure that it was I305 and Shoot-the-Rapids that ended Cedar Fair and Intamin's business relationship on top of previous issues.
Thundervolt in Canada hasn’t had much or any downtime from what I’ve seen so the issue is only with TT2 its probably something to do with the upstop wheels but the wheel assembly is already quite beefy a quicker option would probably be to slow down the final launch
this is all cedar point's fault, and the fact that they are snobby after they ask a manufacturer to go above and beyond what they normally do with zamperla and rmc they need to learn to cope with the fact that if they are going to do that its not going to be perfect.
It's kind of trashy that in both statements, Cedar Point is calling out Zamperla and placing the blame on them, and making sure it's explicit. Like idk... it just seems kind of gross to intentionally throw them under the bus like that.
They are throwing Zamperla under the bus because they deserve to be. They didn't build trains that would work with the physics of that track, the trains and wheels both sit to high.In some aspects, Cedar Point should be there too as their engineers failed to find the flaw also.(allegedly of course.)
I don't think it's the wheels. I think it's the whole wheel bogies that aren't strong enough. which lawn ornament do you think opens first? TT2 or Steel Curtain?
Nah, Volcano had issues, but I don't see how the final straw with Intamin was anything other than their disastrous log flume at Cedar Point. It wasn't a cutting edge attraction, it was a log flume, companies have built them for decades, but Intamin's almost killed someone during normal operations.
I think Shoot the Rapids was one of the scariest amusement park accidents, but no one ever brings it up when talking about the Cedar Fair and Intamin beef.
Look at this through the eyes of a consumer. If you bought a new car from a manufacturer and had lots of mechanical problems with it, to the point where it costs you lots of money, directly and indirectly, would you be so quick to go back to them for your next vehicle?
@@Cap-ku6ok I get that. But it just feels petty. Idk, maybe it’s just that these companies make some great shit that just will never be at these parks.
@Cap-ku6ok But if you hold grudges against every car manufacturer out there, pretty soon you will have to start walking while everyone else is still driving.
@@Cap-ku6okThe thing is that it's pure ignorance to not look at that manufacturer's current portfolio and how they are doing. There is an absolute reason why Intamin is gaining more popularity as their product has been way more reliable. Same with companies such as Vekoma. Cedar point specifically hasn't worked with Intamin in 14 years. Alot has changed with Intamin since then and they obviously don't care. They cheaped out with a manufacturer that had a terrible coaster portfolio with a prototype. This is 100% cedar point / cedar fair's issue.
The merged chain is gonna have to pull their head out of their rear. If you blacklist Zamperla, that’s them, Intamin, RMC and Gerstlauer that they won’t work with. Lots of parks are already saturated with B&Ms, so you’ve only got a few manufacturers left for major thrill coasters. I wouldn’t blame them for not working with Zamperla after this and Gerstlauer seems to be a larger legal issue. But the legacy SF parks have started working with Intamin. Hopefully the merged chain keeps that up
in the automotive industry, what this would imply, was that there are serious fundamental engineering issue that require redesigning massive parts of the ride. NEW means, "never ever worked"
They’ll get it fixed, I’m not worried in the slightest. This kind of thing is actually very common with prototypes. The forces on a ride like this are insane, better safe than sorry. Both Intamin and RMC are great, Cedar Point needs new management.
Cedar Fair issue, not CP… I think a lot of the people within CP would be ready to try Intamin again. CF needs new management tho as they are the ones who make that decision. … and the good news is they just combined with Six Flags, and over the next 2-3 years management will be changing a lot. I doubt CP’s next coaster will be Intamin bc it’s probably already in the works… maybe even the one after they’re next. But I bet within 5-7 years after the effects of new management takes place we’ll see a legacy CF park get a new Intamin ride. …. Let’s hope Intamin does fuck up again and immediately get blacklisted lmao!
We were one of the lucky to get a ride on it! It's really unfortunate that it probably won't open up this year. It's an absolute fantastic ride! Hope they get it all worked out...
@@CaseFamilyVlogs There's no reason to think it's a ride-destroying issue. Likely parts are showing unexpected stresses or accelerated wear. Coasters like this are absolutely prototypes. The right thing to do is reengineer and overengineer the problem areas.
As someone who rode TT2 on May 4th, when I was in line, it kept breaking down over and over. The wait was originally 2 hours but, due to the ride breaking down, it quickly turned to 4.
acutally it is was the shoot the rapid incident to put the nail on the coffin for cedar fair and intamin, so much so that cedar fair posted a news artical about how bad the shot the rapids incident which farther blacklisted intamin from all cedar fair parks.
Them not working with intamin was a combination of top thrill dragster, maverick, Intimidator 305, and the one that made them stop working with them was Shoot the Rapids.
Maverick was always a success and still is. I305 is as good as it gets for a roller coaster, but it was put in the wrong park and should have been put in a more enthusiast-friendly park like CP or KI. I305 has only lost Cedar Fair money because the GP don't love it because it's a thoosie ride in a GP park. Shoot the Rapids was a horrible tragedy, but it was a flat ride and not a coaster and it's unfair to judge a whole roller coaster manufacturer on a horrible incident on a flat ride.
TT2 seemed like a heavily rushed project. Look at it entirely: 0 theming in station and line, just a spike and swing launch, the theme, zamperla, etc. I have not ridden it, but from what I have seen, it looked rushed. Tony Clark said he wants to outdo SteVe, and this was the chance to do so. I still think they should have done a S&S air launch and extended the layout after the tower instead of a spike.
Absurd, that they stopped buying RMC because of Steel Vengeance. It had a statuon train bump and little else. RMC built the best ride in nearly every park they added one to
The people that choose what manufacturers are ruining cedar point..Let's be honest Intiman and RMC are the top 2 manufacturers, they own the game, neither of which CF will use because of past issues..Had intiman refurbished TT2 it would be operational right now,if CF/6F put an RMC in Kings Island,Carowinds it would do wonders but they want...we're stuck with cookie cutter Boring&Mundane dive clones
@@ravenwing199 Let's see, Carowinds can RMC their rickety old wooden coaster, Wildcat at Michigan's Adventure, Timberwolf at Worlds of Fun, and then for Greater Six Flags you have obvious candidates like Iron Boss in Saint Louis. The most obvious RMC candidate for Kings Island was Son of Beast but unfortunately RMC came a few years after they decided to tear down that coaster.
@@jandrew1994 Wildcat is a small and Michigan's Adventure doesn't bring in that much money. Timberwolf just got retracked and is doing great. Carowinds might not want to dump their only wooden coaster. Remember RMCs aren't an upgrade they're a whole new ride.
I love both, i think intamin is just the top dog. I think RMC has amazing layouts and is amazingly smooth, but their train design is outdated and actually really far behind mack, intamin's and vekoma. RMC also lacks coaster types unlike vekoma, mack and B&M. These 5 companies are just the dominant once. B&M seems to be falling though while the other 4 are all improving.
Cp is handling it very poorly. They owe it to be transparent since they keep acting like it’s opening trying to sell tickets. If six flags did this everyone would be attacking them. It’s messed up.
you know this headache would've went away had they just destroyed dragster! we wouldn't be where were at now talking about the attraction. Instead we'd be enjoying the new attraction that replaced dragster
Agreed. Even if they replaced it with a nice sports bar and bowling alley and dine-in restaurant, it'd be better than a 420ft tall double sided lawn ornament
Cedar Point is ruining Cedar Point. The park runs horribly this year. Everything’s closed all the time so I have no hopes of Top Thrill opening this season
@@s3rye306 it’s sad to see. It seems to happen with everything. The company gets too big and then it becomes all about cutting corners to make the most money
Zamperla don't know how to fix Top Thrill 2!! What do you expect from a manufacturer that has never built a Hyper, Giga, and DEFINITELY NOT a Strata Rollercoaster. WTF, Was the Former Cedar Fair was thinking. Let's face it Zamperla, a ride manufacturer that has been around since 1966 has only built primarily Flat Rides. Their tallest Rollercoaster is well under 200ft Tall, Not even a Hyper, and a Max Train Speed of 57mph. Cedar Flags just need to shake hands with Intamin and let them get Top Thrill 2 operating reliably. BTW, Top Thrill 2 isn't going to reopen until 2025.🤣🤣🤣🤣 And even though the original Top Thrill Dragster was plagued with maintenance issues, that really didn't start until around the 3rd week of June in 2003, Top Thrill Dragster didn't shut down indefinitely just after 8 days of the OFFICIAL operating season.
I’m visiting in a couple of weeks and I highly doubt this’ll be open by the time I go. I’ve had this plan to visit for so long so it’s disappointing that I won’t be riding Top Thrill 2, but I’m still super pumped for the trip and I’d rather at least know going in that I won’t be riding Top Thrill 2 than go in expecting to ride it and see it closed.
Clearly a rushed product at usual with Cedar Point. If it wasnt for Stevie, Mav, and Millie it would be out of my top 10 parks. Its just not worth it anymore. Hershey Park has taken the thrown for me.
I feel like the wheels are stressing on the older parts of the track . If you watch launch videos of top thrill 2 . The train looks like it goes through a lot traversing the layout . And if it has to do with wheel size imagine the trouble falcons flight will have
Isn't the point of testing to iron out the issues? Seems like they ran a couple of empty trains for a week and thought " yep its prrfect open it up she's good to go!"
It seems zamparala wanted the top credit to boost thier name in coasters but maybe it was too much but maybe itll work out i wish theyed chose mack rides or intamin. Sorry for spelling errors. Great video😊
I don't think it ruins cedar point that much, I still love going to the park when ever i get a chance. I am not a fan of zamperlla at all though, i don't like the wild mouse, and i have always thought they were the wrong people to remake an intamin coaster. I also think intamin would have had no problem installing an LSM launch, and maybe expand the layout. I will still continue to get season passes. anyway, thats my 2 cents lol.
Being overly dramatic about something like this is why they said at media day that many content creators weren't invited. At the moment it's not informing anyone what's going on, it's just letting the park know you'll keep stirring the pot in the wrong way. Everyone knows its down and everyone is disappointed. Beachcliff is the posted child of how to ruin your relationship with a park. So just be wise about how you go about things. Nothing wrong with criticizing the park and Zamperla, just keep in mind that this is a dedication to safety and getting it right. This has always been the cedar point way and even though the downtime length is unique to this ride, in my many decades of going there and being very close knit to the park staff (30 times there already this year, family friend heads F&B, another friend is an op from TT2), they have always had these growing pains of doing things never done before.
@@macaronandcheese18113 they're banned from all invite-only events such as media days and content creator days. Jesse can take the temperature of the room and oversteps his boundary. Acts entitled at the parks and makes everything about him, pisses off guests often. Complained about PHP for TT2 because he bought his pass through CW, bashing the park because he felt entitled to be at the event. It only gets worse for him because he continues to post "TT2 update" videos that are really just updates on his eotional state about the ride being down since there's no actual update. The sad thing is he will go on this "we don't need the park, Tony sucks" tirade for the next several months and then when he sees an opportunity for personal gain, he'll be tweeting at Tony "hey, let's make amends so I can get something out of it". Can you blame the park for not being able to trust the guy? Like, EltoroRyan has videos that all about CP's problematic coasters, but I guarantee he's not on their bad side. Plenty of people criticize the park. Few lack the self awareness beachcliff lacks. I've never seen someone so unaware at the way they're damaging their reputation. I even reached out to give the guy advice and he was a total jerk
No Different Than The Steel Curtain Roller Coaster Ride that is in the same predicament as Top Thrill Dragster 2. ☝️😮Roller coasters are Down Indefinitely!
This is how I think this whole situation will end up, so you’re gonna want to hear me out on this. Cedar Fair wants to create the world’s tallest coaster, but they don’t want to do it themselves. So they hire Intamin to build Top Thrill Dragster, but it breaks. So Cedar Fair hires Zamperla to transform TTD into Top Thrill 2, but that doesn’t work. So ZAMPERLA hires a third rate company to create new trains for TT2, and you won’t believe what’ll happen next. This company says “I’ll hire these little BUGS to fix Top Thrill Dragster”. An Amusement Park company hires a manufacturer, who gets replaced by a manufacturer, who hires a manufacturer, who hires bugs to fix a ROLLER COASTER! And when the company and their bugs are about to fix the coaster, Zamperla goes out of their way to buy out the company and fire all the workers who were HIRED TO FIX TOP THRILL DRAGSTER! “Secretly Genius these companies are, many reliable products they produce”.
I don't understand all these other parks across the world get Intamin's and RMC's... so why does CF blacklist them? I mean, if they were that bad....wouldn't all the other parks that bought them do the same thing?
I think cedar fair needs to get over what happened with RMC, Intamin and Zamperlla to an extent for RMC and Intamin they need them for coasters especially RMC for their other parks and Intamin just adds more coasters to the list and they should stick with Zamperlla for flat rides not coasters but flat rides
Am I ever gonna ride this damn thing? The first time was a few weeks after the accident (and also the day before Wicked Twister’s closure RIP). The second was long before the huge announcement. The third was during the ride’s repaint. And now it’s closed AGAIN?! Cedar Point you are really pissing me off.
Call me "lucky" but every time I went to CP from 2017 to 2021 or 2020 I believe as a 2 day visitor TPD was open and I rode it. Only closing down for an hour at a time.
Saw another report that there could be issues with the track. Apparently of the existing track they only replaced the launch section. The rest of the track is the original and is old considering its age, weather conditions and number of launches since it first opened. If there is an issue with the track then it could be game over.
... just put intamin trains on the track and call it a day. What is it with cedar point getting mad at all their ride manufacturers because the rides... shocker... require maintenance? 😂 absolutely childish. First it was intamin. Then rmc. Then zamperla. Guess what guys? We are tired of boring b and ms. So grow up, take some responsibility. While they were busy being a toxic ex, rmc was busy building wildcats revenge, and intamin was out building high capacity and reliable multilaunch coasters with drop tracks and swing launches. In some ways I am happy cedar fair will be running the new merged company... landscaping, food and beverage. But when I think about all of this drama, I really am concerned. I respectfully disagree that cedar point is entitled to be angry and skirt any blame. Longer range, this is a trend that they are making bad decisions or angry at manufacturers who build them their STANDOUT ATTRACTIONS. it is absolutely thankless to work with cedar point at this point. I am NOT an engineer, however, I have seen nobody doscuss this issue, and its frankly obvious to me: the aluminum chassis. "Essential features of the Lightning vehicle are its aluminum-milled chassis, which weighs less than almost any other train of this type, and its wheels, which can withstand high acceleration on some of the world’s fastest attractions." At one point in time, Washington DC bought aluminum subway cars rather than heavy stainless steel. The problem? While it is lighter, it also crushes like a soda can. A train collision caused the cars to crush themselves and everyone inside to deth. Now we have engineers in the roller coaster manufacturing space introducing aluminum as a lightweight alternative to steel, probably to allow for the trains to accelerate faster with less electrical output from the lsms. Thry may be boasting about weld-free manufacturing too, if I recall correctly, but couldnt immediately find the quote. Again, not an engineer, but building a roller coaster train with aluminum rather than steel, which is tried true and tested and durable in construction of almost ANYTHING, is obviously concerning. Make the chassis out of steel. Swap out the wheels for something else that isnt novel, and the problem goes away. Give the first launch more juice if necessary to get the train to top speed in time for the top hat.
Ooo love your coverage of this topic at the end of the video, Great American Coasters. Thanks for contributing to the conversation with an actual credible background. And if my theory is way off, go easy on me, as I am definitely not an engineer. In conclusion, I dont blame zamperla given cedar fairs track record, but I am open to seeing how the engineering solutions are met. Cheers!
I hold only a bachelor's degree and had to take 3 semesters of physics . I would think it would not be to hard to take an existing structure, design- as built prints, field notes, field verifications, and with todays computers a coster building company should be able to spit out TT2 rather quickly.. complete with forces exerted on the track and wheels.. you gotta remember, a woman was seriously injured as that part flew off and struck her in the head... Cedar Fair is not going to rush through any safety concern or part failure... and we all should be very thankful for that..
According to a reddit post I read, the trains frames started cracking from the speed. I'm not a superstition person, but I am very near convinced that the ride is just kind of cursed (for lack of a better word). The thing has been a money pit for decades now. Some things just aren't meant to be.
ZAMPERLA DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON PROJECT. ITS THE TRAIN AND ITS BRAND NEW DESIGN SO THESE TRAINS WONT JUST BE USED ON TT2 SO ONCE RESOLVED IT WILL BE AN EXCELLENT TOP TIER COASTER BLDR
I thought the title said that “top thrill 2 was running” and i got so excited and then i realized that it said “top thrill 2 was ruining” and my big smile turned into a frown so fast because my cedar point trip is today
I'll never understand why CP has such a gripe with Intamin. Intamin gave CP, in general, their most popular rides. Their ground-breaking rides. Iconic rides. Of course there were/are issues with the rides and no one likes downtime but the only question I'd ask someone who hates Intamin is: who do you know of that can build these mythical reliable gigacoasters and stratacoasters? Who are these mythical manufacturers?? I'll tell you one manufacturer it ain't: Zamperla.
Yeah let’s forget about the fact Dragster was a maintenance nightmare for 18 years ending with an accident that nearly killed someone then shoot the rapids almost drowned people
@@JJJJ-he8bz Yeah let's not forget that Intamin has improved over the years, but go ahead and leave out the facts so your arguments sounds more valid.
I'm sure this extended closure doesn't help Zamperla's case, but I think the more important task is that the roller coaster is reliable. That seems to be the main issue Cedar Fair had with Intamin, and you can experience this unreliability every time you go to Cedar Point. They have frequent breakdowns and delays. If this ride shows itself reliable after the adaptation, I don't see why Zamperla would be off the table. It is an extreme project, so I think some fine tuning was to be expected.
I almost rode it; I was standing in front of the entrance debating whether I wanted to pay $3 for a locker or not, and I decided against it, figuring I would come back at a later date with some people I could leave my stuff with (I live pretty close to the park). Still kind of wish I had done it just that once to say I did, but I'm not exactly losing sleep over it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (esp since I did the original so many times, and the new launch is barely a launch)
Dumb title (but I guess it gets clicks, so maybe it isn't dumb?). Cedar Point isn't being ruined. I went this year and it's amazing. Folks living in the first world are struggling because a roller coaster is down? Grow up and get some patience, even if it's 2025 before it's operating again.
My opinion is that Cedar Fair wasn’t really wanting to re-open this ride. They wanted to give the appearance that they “tried” and failed; just to justify their decision to remove the attraction
I would say Zamperla doesn’t deserve all the hate. The fact that got so far with updating 1 of 2 coaster model only for the issue to be a wheel (possibly) isn’t bad in the slightest these trains are indeed prototypes however even if Mack rides was chosen instead there could still be issues. Not on every coaster you go 120mph 400ft in the air, not all roller coaster trains are going to be designed or fully tested for that. I know the closure sucks I went to Cedar Point to see the ride closed however for the safety of everyone it’s good that is was detected and didn’t get to the point where there was a bad accident because of it. A video by Ryan the Ride mechanic explains that possibly it could be taking this long because of the time it takes to manufacture these things. Falcon’s Flight could have the same issue. My main point is that although zamperla made the jump and the coaster has minor issues, however, other coaster manufacturers could have had the same thing because this isn’t the average coaster and I don’t think Zamperla deserves all the hate. Plus Thundervolt also had the TT2 treatment by Zamperla and doesn’t have any issues cause it’s a way smaller coaster.
I was able to ride TT2 twice (6th row and 1st row) and it was amazing. IMO, The only ride I've ridden that comes close to matching TT2's intensity is X2. I hope it reopens this season, but better safe than sorry.
I know I wasn't the first but, I said this was not a good investment for the park from the beginning, should've just spent the money on a completely new coaster!!
Some insider information I have from my brother that works at a mechanic shop said the ride should have never been open to begin with. It was absolutely shredding the brakes every launch, completely unsafe for any riders aside from crash dummy’s. They were testing it on real people.
Went with my gut to brave the insanity and go second weekend open. In hindsight, glad i booked that Friday too! Hoping this won't be my rarest credit ever and it opens soon for everyone. The ride is too good! Would be a shame if they scrapped
I dont understand why cedar fair doesnt buy vekoma's. Vekoma has so much potential right now, are cheap and are established in the industry. don't think vekoma would have taken the project of top thrill 2, but some new vekoma's would be so nice.
I was one of the lucky and got to experience it twice. It’s an amazing ride. I just feel that the park owes us an honest explanation of what is going on.
This is mainly on Cedar Point they literally went with the cheapest option instead pf giving Intamin another chance because new Intamin rides have literally been perfected as far as reliability
I think it was really dumb for them to trust a manufacture who does not specialize in coasters to fix/upgrade your star attraction. They should have just paid the premium price to have a reputable company do it to improve its reliability. Cedar should be embarrassd.
Cedar point pushes the boundaries. Eventually they're gonna get bit. They mine as well just clone other good coasters. Like tatsu or velocicoaster. And make them slightly different
As far as the wheels go yes the size does matter but even more important is the material they are made of. If they are having to develop some new sort of polyurethane to use on the wheels so they can maintain their integrity (stress and thermal) it could be a while folks.
Zamperla SUCKS! Idk why they chose to engineer a coaster like this when they haven't even experienced building a coaster even close to the size of this one. I knew it was going to be a flop when they announced the manufacturer🤣🤣
Cedar Point and Cedar Fair as whole need to focus more on how they run the park rather than when the rides are reliable or not. As much as it is on the manufacture to create ride that's reliable it's also up to the park to maintain it and keep it running. Hershey Park has 3 Intamins that were all opened during both my visits and I hear Storm Runner (a hydraulic launch) doesn't have as much downtime as OG Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka, granted I know it is on a smaller scale which is a factor, but somehow Hersheyparks keeps that SR up and running. CP really could've taken lessons from Hershey on how to keep their rides running. Yes there are rides that won't be reliable by any means but if they were maintained and run like Hershey does with Storm Runner I think they would have half as much downtime.
My issue with CF is that they are essentially a Karen. They buy these prototypes and expect them to run perfectly. And RMC WARNED CF of SV and CF demanded it be built anyway. Idk CF are Karen’s in my opinion
I'm sorry but Cedar Fair has to share part of the blame, yeah zamperla is the seller and Cedar Point is the consumer but you also have to understand who has the power in this relationship, and let me tell you, is not the little Italian manufacturer. Cedar Point decides when the ride has to open when Zamperla can start building, and generally has all the power in the relationship. Opening a prototype conversion of another prototype without a soft opening is an error, and just hoping that there would be no problems is just wishful thinking, roller coasters are complex and it's normal for them to have problems even with nonprototype rides. If Cedar Fair has so many problems with so many manufacturers maybe the problem isn't the manufactures
The Six Flags merger definitely makes it more difficult for manufacturers to test out new attractions. Six Flags has always been willing to Experiment and spend money, and I just don’t think the culture at Cedar Fair will allow for that. That lack of competition makes the room for error very low for any company let alone smaller manufacturers who want to experiment. Companies are gonna be less willing to branch out of their comfort zones. I don’t feel bad for Zamperla, and I don’t feel bad for Cedar Fair. I just feel bad for the theme park lovers that inevitably have to deal with the repercussions of bad corporate decisions.
I think Cedar Point’s relationship with Intamin went sour because of Shoot the Rapids. In any case, Zamperla probably didn’t have enough data to account for what forces from fully-loaded trains with both larger wheels and a higher center of the gravity would have on them, especially when travelling the launch track three time per cycle. Also, there’s potential issues with taking apart 20 year old launch track, shipping it to Italy, modifying it, shipping it back and assuming it would be aligned/perfect when putting it back together again.
all you guys from the coasternerd community was raving about how amazing it was. it's not amazing. they put a spike on it but you acted like they built the new sistene chappel. im laughing..zampera is a horrible choice. you get what you pay for. the undercarriage on the trains are cracking because of forces. didn't the stress test it before hand? it was illconceived. nonsense from the word GO.
I thought that the Lightning Trains being made mostly of Aluminum instead of steel was a BIG BIG mistake because of the speeds and height of the ride. I know they wanted to keep the weight of the trains down for the LSM launches but still……dumb !
I mean at this point they should just tear the whole thing down! I just went to cedar point this summer and it was not open. P.S This is coming from a Person who’s home park is Kennywood and I think they should do the same for Steel Curtain…
The moment I heard the announcement that Zamperla was doing the ride, I cringed. They have not proven themselves with anything over a small coaster. I knew this was a bad idea…Cedar Point gets what they pay for….what they deserve…and instead of sucking it up and trying with Intamin again, they botched it. Lots of fumbles lately for Cedar Point.
Can't they iron out a service level agreement or some sort of contract with manufacturers before construction even starts? It seems a little odd that so many parks seem to have these bitter disputes with ride makers that they can't resolve in a reasonable way. It seems like such an old fashioned way to do business. Either both parties agree to a certain set of terms, or don't engage in a transaction, it's not a revolutionary business concept.
@@nevaehhamilton3493 I’ve realized obviously lol but when you chase infinite profits you eventually meet your demise.
They've always pushed the limits for records too. If they went with regular designs, maybe they wouldn't have as many issues.
But then it wouldn't be as good of a collection.
Almost every ride has had teething issues, and people are surprised there's more
@@nevaehhamilton3493 when carrying only about profit begins to cost them profit.
That looks to be exactly what happened here
@@ryanreed7688Don’t you mean “intaminly familiar”? 😎
Vekoma is the goat. Not only do they make amazing new rides but they fix up older rides like arrow loopers and slcs
That and jesus christ we don't need anymore B&M's, it's all they do now and it gets super old.
Pretty soon they'll run out of manufactures to work with
And Premier Rides not knowing that someone thicker than an average TV remote needs to pass thru their restraints to be seated on a train... So I'm not the biggest fan of theirs either. And I'm actually not a bigger person at all.
Breaking news: Arrowdynamics back in business after Cedar Fair fired everyone else! /j
I wish they would just say what is wrong with it. You walk around the park and you can just hear people talking about this ride all day.
Also they should close the gift shop. I thought it was a dumb look to have an entire merchandise stand selling stuff for a ride that hasn't been open in months
I wish they would just say it's closed for the season at the very least
As they said that there is an issue with the trains … my best bet is, that cedar after opening the coaster, decided to add belt restraints on the trains, like on allmost all their coaster … but you can’t just add belt restraints to a train
They also need to stop advertising the park with the ride. I’ve seen multiple advertisements pop up with the ride for season passes
They’ve said we’re getting an update in 5 days, be patient.
Should have went with Intamin or Mack but they went with the Dollar Tree of manufacturers lol.

They were the same engineers that worked on the original.
@@jasonkloos6348 no, that was intamin.
@@SRR475 yeah, and they all work at Zamperla now.
Tbh their flat rides suck too. What the hell is that restraint design???
this is all cedar point's fault, and the fact that they are snobby after they ask a manufacturer to go above and beyond what they normally do with zamperla and rmc they need to learn to cope with the fact that if they are going to do that its not going to be perfect.
Cedar point didnt force zamperla to do this project. Zamperla accepted it. So reverse your false logic
It’s both of their fault
its not snobby they paid a shit ton of money for it and zamperla told them it would be good
@@vma829ify of course zamperla accepted it, why wouldn’t they.
@Verdelite Are you sure? ThunderVolt has just opened and seems to be doing fine. And that ride was announced first.

TT2 will definitely open first.

Hopefully the merged chain keeps that up
“Worlds tallest and fastest multi-launch lawn ornament.”
in the automotive industry, what this would imply, was that there are serious fundamental engineering issue that require redesigning massive parts of the ride. NEW means, "never ever worked"
They’ll get it fixed, I’m not worried in the slightest. This kind of thing is actually very common with prototypes. The forces on a ride like this are insane, better safe than sorry.
Both Intamin and RMC are great, Cedar Point needs new management.
Cedar Fair/Six Flags needs a complete management overhaul. They're all greedy little bastards who just want the money.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they bought new tried and tested trains from Mack or heck even Intamin
Cedar Fair's ego wouldn't let them buy an Intamin product.

Introducing Top 3, a reimagined Top Thrill 2 by SBF Visa, now featuring an all new tire propelled launch system
Who’s ready for Top Thrill 3 where they bring back Arrow and add a third spike 🔥🔥🔥
I read this as tt2 is running at cedar point and got way to excited 😆
Me too!!
Same. Eyesight fail.
Your brain wants it...
Absurd, that they stopped buying RMC because of Steel Vengeance. It had a statuon train bump and little else. RMC built the best ride in nearly every park they added one to
Steel Vengeance is my favorite. Gets my heart pumping
SV is the best Roller Coaster in existence, the competition isn't even close
The people that choose what manufacturers are ruining cedar point..Let's be honest Intiman and RMC are the top 2 manufacturers, they own the game, neither of which CF will use because of past issues..Had intiman refurbished TT2 it would be operational right now,if CF/6F put an RMC in Kings Island,Carowinds it would do wonders but they want...we're stuck with cookie cutter Boring&Mundane dive clones
Where's this Belief that CF hates RMC coming from? They don't really have anywhere to put an RMC right now outside of a brand new ground up ride.

Cedar Point is ruining Cedar Point. The park runs horribly this year. Everything’s closed all the time so I have no hopes of Top Thrill opening this season

I feel like the wheels are stressing on the older parts of the track . If you watch launch videos of top thrill 2 . The train looks like it goes through a lot traversing the layout .
And if it has to do with wheel size imagine the trouble falcons flight will have

Being overly dramatic about something like this is why they said at media day that many content creators weren't invited.
So essentially they’re trying to beat Kingda Ka but incompetence is what’s holding them back.

They should just close it permanently and let this ride rest in piece
So excited to get on TT3 reimagined by Pinfari!!!
... just put intamin trains on the track and call it a day.
"Essential features of the Lightning vehicle are its aluminum-milled chassis, which weighs less than almost any other train of this type, and its wheels, which can withstand high acceleration on some of the world’s fastest attractions."
At one point in time, Washington DC bought aluminum subway cars rather than heavy stainless steel.
Cheers!
I was there last week and they had a crew replacing the wheels on the train. Hopefully that's a good sign.
Cedar Point is going to cut ties with every rollercoaster company and screw themselves over
When that happens, the Rollercoaster companies has the advantage
I'm glad to say I was among the lucky few. Rode it on opening day this year. It's an incredible ride! Hopefully they can get it sorted out!

I thought this was a biting process and zamperla was the cheapest. Also remember, Cedar Fair doesn't have the yes or no answer anymore..
Imagine buying a season pass for 2024 thinking you were gonna get rides on top thrill 2 only for it to be open for one weekend smh
Can’t Wait To Ride It In 341 Years!
I'm one of the lucky few, I've only ridden each (TTD and TT2) once.
I rode it 4 times the third day it was open
This is probably not the case, but could extra wheels help with stress?
I mean I just went and had a great time, my biggest complaint were the ride closures that seemed to happen all the time.
I hope they can get it going soon… I went to media day and again the day before it closed. Rode it 6 times absolutely unreal
I rode it twice opening weekend and it is so much better than before. Hopefully it reopens soon.
Carving a divot out of the 420ft structure to compensate for the trains is crazy..
Weve had rides be delayed by a year before. This isnt a new occurance.
Once the ride is reopened. Itll be back and hopefully reliable
My issue with CF is that they are essentially a Karen. They buy these prototypes and expect them to run perfectly. And RMC WARNED CF of SV and CF demanded it be built anyway. Idk CF are Karen’s in my opinion
They should just build a huge GCI coaster. But, CP would blacklist them sooner than later, too.
I would make another rmc coaster be because steel vengince is crazy
unless cedar points tears down a ride or two they have no more room for a major coaster
The Six Flags merger definitely makes it more difficult for manufacturers to test out new attractions. Six Flags has always been willing to
Experiment and spend money, and I just don’t think the culture at Cedar Fair will allow for that.
I enjoyed it more than the original. I dont consider myself hardcore coaster nerd I just like to be in the parks.
The only thing ruining Cedar Point is Cedar Point! The luster has left the diamond, IMOP, they are as bad as Disney at this point!
