      DUNCAN wasnt a PF.
He was CENTER in WAKER FOREST.
And POPOVICH drafted him and said that they got a new CENTER.
Due to that DUNCAN even joked telling POP that he was going to trade him.
BUT POP said that they were going to be the new TWIN TOWERS.
SPURS register DUNCAN at PF because at that time there was only 2 spots available at the center position.
And one of those were SHAQ.
SPURS wanted to have 2 all-stars in the TEAM for MARKETING PURPOSES.
So they register him at PF.
If you watch close he was the one guarding others centers and in 2004 POP stop using the 2 CENTERS line up.
And from 2005 untill 2016 you cant name a CENTER that wasnt playing bench minutes.
      MEANING he was the CENTER.

You GOT TO BE a little kid or just don’t know nothing about basketball. For one, when Tim Duncan was drafted, the Admiral was 32-33. He was good not the same guy he used to be though. Look up the stats, Tim Duncan was out playing him by far by his SECOND YEAR, after winning rookie of the year and an ALL STAR nods in his FIRST YEAR. Tim Duncan is far better than ANY player he has ever played with. If you put Duncan anywhere he’s a star. But his running mates? Tony Parker, Manu, those guys wouldn’t be future hall of famers without him and Pop. I’ve been watching the Spurs since the 90s. You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.

Never was DPOY, but has an argument for greatest defender ever. He has the most All Def ever by a wide margin (making 13 straight to start his career) and has the very best defensive analytics in history. He is literally the modern day Bill Russell in terms of defense, rebounding, leadership, winning and being the ultimate selfless teammate, but he had an elite offense to go with it (his per possession scoring is on par with Kareem's and Hakeems).

For the remaining 872 games of his career he played center 85% of the time and power forward 15% of the time. He played center for the overwhelming majority of his career. Tim Duncan greatest accomplishment is bringing a small market team 5 titles. No other player will ever be able to take a small market team and bring them that many titles ever. Do you guys realize how hard it is to attract free agents to come play in small markets and to keep young talent from leaving. The nba is set up to make small markets fail, it always has been. Kudos to tim for staying and building the greatest small market dynasty in nba history

Here's something else that Timmy achieved that I think is unique...I say "I think", because perhaps someone else did it, but I am not aware of it. Tim is the only NBA player (that I know of) that got a technical foul while sitting on the bench and chatting with a teammate; I was watching the game on TV and I think it was Manu who said something to Tim, who laughed, and immediately got a "T" from Joey Crawford. I still remember Tim's face when he realized that he got a "T"! Hilarious!!

I always argue John Wooded would pick Tim Duncan first, all the attributes fit the pyramid of success. Poise, confidence & competitive greatness (top of pyramid) all fit. Ever notice that if the swing turned away from the Spurs mid game- 21TD would reel it in with a 10 ft J or a couple lay ups. TD21 understood the importance of momentum going into the 4th- in fact, all the Spurs did. End of the game Spurs would lob into Tim, Tim would look for an outside shooter and always seem to make the right choice kicking out or going straight up!

The way the spurs system was setup would have made LeBron if ever played with SAS win each one those 10 years he went to the finals! the way that we played would have changed him and made him better because we played to win it do t matter if its the game of the week coaxh pop a rest all the starters and the bench a beat a top 5 team every one in our 2014 year scored 10+ a game when the real big 3 first appeared in 2004 with Kobe Bryant Gary Payton Karl Malone & Shaq!! Got Beat 4-1 in the NBA Finals We brought redemption back to the West Tony Parker is for sure top 5 PG of all time but wont get the credit because he wasn't Fancy the Same with Tim Duncan

tim duncan is the most overrated NBA player. he can only play well against mediocre players. Legendary centers bully him like a dog. his career is only successful because he was in spurs coached by Gregg Popovich, and he had great teammates like tony park and Manu Ginóbili. I am sure even a dog playing center in spurs can win championships. that's how great Popovich is.
