DUNCAN wasnt a PF. He was CENTER in WAKER FOREST. And POPOVICH drafted him and said that they got a new CENTER. Due to that DUNCAN even joked telling POP that he was going to trade him. BUT POP said that they were going to be the new TWIN TOWERS. SPURS register DUNCAN at PF because at that time there was only 2 spots available at the center position. And one of those were SHAQ. SPURS wanted to have 2 all-stars in the TEAM for MARKETING PURPOSES. So they register him at PF. If you watch close he was the one guarding others centers and in 2004 POP stop using the 2 CENTERS line up. And from 2005 untill 2016 you cant name a CENTER that wasnt playing bench minutes. @Zzz Vain You GOT TO BE a little kid or just don’t know nothing about basketball. For one, when Tim Duncan was drafted, the Admiral was 32-33. He was good not the same guy he used to be though. Look up the stats, Tim Duncan was out playing him by far by his SECOND YEAR, after winning rookie of the year and an ALL STAR nods in his FIRST YEAR. Tim Duncan is far better than ANY player he has ever played with. If you put Duncan anywhere he’s a star. But his running mates? Tony Parker, Manu, those guys wouldn’t be future hall of famers without him and Pop. I’ve been watching the Spurs since the 90s. You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.
Never was DPOY, but has an argument for greatest defender ever. He has the most All Def ever by a wide margin (making 13 straight to start his career) and has the very best defensive analytics in history. He is literally the modern day Bill Russell in terms of defense, rebounding, leadership, winning and being the ultimate selfless teammate, but he had an elite offense to go with it (his per possession scoring is on par with Kareem's and Hakeems).

He was the last of a dying breed, a guy that stayed in school all 4 years and came into the league as developed as he possibly could be. It was a pleasure to see him play. And we will probably never see a player play that well for that long with one organization.
I can't say I'm a big Duncan fan, but I respect him tremendously, and from a purely objective standpoint he was the most dominant player since MJ. It can obviously be stated he was the primary reason for all of the Spurs' championships, whereas you can't say that about any other player who's won multiple titles since the GOAT.

As a Mavs fan... Tim Duncan is a silent assassin! You know youre going to be in a dog fight when Tim and the Spurs are playing. Dirk and Tim's battles are the best.
Tim dominated in all phases of the game and for the most part was healthy his entire career. Tim Duncan was a center. Tim played center in high school and college. In the NBA, Tim played 63% of his career at center and 36% at power forward. In the seasons he played power forward primarily (520 games between 1998-2004), he was at the position 65% of the time and center 33%. For the remaining 872 games of his career he played center 85% of the time and power forward 15% of the time. He played center for the overwhelming majority of his career. The only reason he played significant time at power forward early on for any stretch was due to the fact that he was drafted onto an all time great center's team in David Robinson.
Exactly cause he was so fundamental and quite , and there were a lot of run and gun players , with good crossover and first step, he did what he wanted . In the paint
He played the vast majority of his elite career as a CENTER,not a power forward. The notion of him being irrationally labeled the greatest power forward is based upon media media pundits ,fans and ex players , deep seeded fascination, with the spurs dynasty, creating a want for elevating Tim Duncan at a apex position . He arguably wouldnt even be percieved as the spurs greatest center ,nor all time top 5 all time center ,so placing him as a power forward allows rhe nonobjective assessment to have life . Bob Petit, Elvin Hayes ,Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Kevin Garnett,Dirk Nowitzski, are the objective candidates for the greatest power forward, they all played mostly power forward, their prime years, best career success ,was as a power forward . Its not a sin for Tim Duncan to be number 8 or 9 as a all time center ,but most folks believe it is,which is why the irrational notion of annoiting the greatest powerforward

No doubt Duncan was one of the all time best and pretty unstoppable but the other players deserve much credit for those wins and the coaching was incredible. Much of the way GS wins now is based on the way San Antonio set up their system. People used to say SA was boring to watch but I loved to watch them pass the ball and tire teams out. That’s what they did to Miami. But yes Duncan, in my opinion is probably better than Lebron.
I'm a huge Mavs fan. And without Duncan there is no Parker,Ginobilli nor Popovic. Duncan is not appreciate enough. For example Kobe gets all the love (deservingly) and I believe Duncan had the better career of the two.
Tim Duncan greatest accomplishment is bringing a small market team 5 titles. No other player will ever be able to take a small market team and bring them that many titles ever. The power forward position is loaded with greats back than … K.G., BARKLY, MALONE, and of course Duncan. Tim Duncan wasn’t great at any one thing but he was good at everything.
Tim Duncan’s career was almost like Jordan’s. Took a small market team with no success and transformed them into a dynasty. Almost 6 for 6 in the finals too
@@user-qi7nn3qe2t that actually IS "small market" by definition tbh. Maybe you misread what he said. He said Duncan took a small market team with no success and transformed them. Like Jordan did in Chicago. And chicago was a small market team back then. Only a few teams were really bringing in a ton of revenue
He's #1 on my list of greatest power forwards of all time. The one guy who gave TD more problems than anyone IMO was Kevin Garnett because of his length and athleticism.

MEANING he was the CENTER.

@Zzz Vain
You GOT TO BE a little kid or just don’t know nothing about basketball.
The fact that he and Pip never won DPOY is a travesty.

That’s really mind blowing that Chuck even thinks. >_< As for Timmy, it’s insane that he never got a dpoy award.
This dude my pf alltime, no question.
Tim Duncan is quietly the GOAT
"Doc Rivers, what were you thinking???" - Story of Doc Rivers career
The most humble GOAT there’s ever been. It’s like in the way Perkins said, you could slap Tim in the face and he wasn’t gonna hit you back - he was just gonna eat you like BBQ chicken and give you 35 pts, 18 reb, 7 ast, 4 blocks & and a L in your record column. Timmy D was such a beast. I was in 6th grade his rookie season and I remember rocking the 21 Spurs jersey on the first day of 7th lol
After watching this video I already knew Tim was the best power forward ever but I think I just vaulted KG to my number 2 over Barkley and Malone. He's got a chip and MVP and defense MVP.
I LOVE this type of video. Seriously I can not get enough Tim Duncan. His only issue was that he only had a few great "HIGHLIGHTS" so all the compilations are basically the same.
I am Knicks fan and I will never forget how he destroyed my team in the finals. Marcus Camby who was a great defender couldn’t stop Duncan. Yes, the Knicks was a 8th seed but it wouldn’t have mattered who came out the east that year (1999) Duncan and the Spurs would have steamrolled them.
And the crazy part was Tim Duncan couldn't do anything against Marcus Camby in college. Lol
@@fredrobinson1145 Duncan was a silent killer!
@@bigsheed9003 facts bro. He doesn't get talked about enough
@@fredrobinson1145 When I think of Duncan I think on consistency. As a Knicks fan I was jealous of the consistency of Duncan’s Spurs. I wish my Knick’s was ran with half the efficiency of those Spurs teams. They did that in a strong western conference.
@@bigsheed9003 I'm a Spurs fan. I use to love how every year they talked about the Lakers, , Mavs, whatever Team Lebron is on that year etc, then you look up and. The Spurs had the best record in the league. That dude was a force to be reckoned with, but nobody cares cause he was "boring". No he was killing these dudes . Lol
Duncan was one of favorites, he is the most lowkey-cool player ever. he just win, win, win. quiet, chill, and a leader. he's the teammate that everyone wants. he didn't need to be flashy, he didn't talk trash in twitter, THE MAN JUST WANTS TO WIN. he don't care bout stats, he didn't really care bout criticisms, he's coolest sigma ever
My problem with TD is I could never have anything bad to say about him, even tho I "hated" the spurs, all I could do was respect him for how great he was.
What I find fascinating, is still after all this time is how underrated Tim is. With specific references to The top ten of all time. I rarely see his name mentioned in that group.
There will never be another Timmy You are loved bqby
This is the most realest RUclips video I’ve since today! 👍👏
This guy was the modern day Larry Legend. He was a massive team player, leader, he had an understanding of the game and drive to do whatever it took.
Hes the goat. Followed him since he was drafted all the way until his retirement.
Tim carried the whole Spurs franchise to a Finals contender for fifteen years straight
20 years plus
This channel deserves 1mil SUBSCRIBERS tbh
i get mad when people talk lebron or kobe being the goat and forget duncan... its like this spurs wouldnt have won with just parker and ginobli. but would have with duncan and just about anyone else.. kobe couldnt win without shaq or gasol... lebron couldnt win without his super teams ..
@@gutenbird what did sa do before and after duncan?
I’m born and raised spurs fan but damn the idea of Tmac and Duncan on the same team 🔥🔥🔥🔥😬😬
Tim Duncan greatest accomplishment is bringing a small market team 5 titles. No other player will ever be able to take a small market team and bring them that many titles ever. Do you guys realize how hard it is to attract free agents to come play in small markets and to keep young talent from leaving. The nba is set up to make small markets fail, it always has been. Kudos to tim for staying and building the greatest small market dynasty in nba history
Duncan was the best despite being somewhat boring and bland in personality but this isn’t about popularity contest
If you watched Timmy Duncan and how he played he was alittle better that karl and barkley.
Like barkley said he got more touches with the ball. Karl played longer and had a stronger body but Duncan IMO was more fluent, agile, smarter, and can shoot further out!
U CANY BE BEST WHEN U RIDE ADMIRAL FROM DAY 1
IMAGINE GARNETT WITH OLAJUWON FROM DAY 1 IN ROCKETS
HOW ABOUT 10.000 PTS LESS THAN MAILMAN ??? DUNCAN IS WAGON. HIS BRONZE IS WORST HUMILIATION IN USA HISTORY. MALONE OR GARNETT WAS NEVER OUTPLAYED BY LOW RAATING FORWARDS OR CENTER VS USA DREAM TEAMS. DUNCAN IS JUST A SYSTEM GUY WHO HAD LACK TO PLAY WITH MULTIPLE HOF'S .
IN ANY OTHER TEAM HE WOULD BE AD IN PELS.
I remembered Duncan still in college almost single handedly defeated the dream team with Shaq on kt. Thats when i became a Tim Duncan fan and knew Timmy was a special player. As it turns out he became the best power forward of all time!
See what I love about Timmy is that he lets his peers speak for him, AFTER the fact.
Duncan was sooooo quiet that he gets forgotten as one of the best. He really is in the conversation for top 5 all time imo.
T-Mac you are one of my favorites and I so regret that pop didn't utilize you and DeJuan Blair
Nowitzki and Duncan are so underrated as PFs.. guys think first about Barkley, Pippen and Malone.. but damn, Dirk and Tim were cold as ice
A lot of people can claim to be the most underrated player ever, but I sincerely believe that Tim Duncan fits the bill the most. Believe it or not, there are children alive who watch basketball, who do not know who Tim Duncan is. I know. Its scary. He is very rarely spoken of and celebrated.
An Tim is so damn humble, its crazy.
Thanks for providing great basketball content. I need a new ball, man.
1.) Tim Duncan by a mile
2.) Dirk, best shooting big man ever
3.) KG and Karl Malone
5.) Charles Barkley
6.) Kevin McHale
7.) Bob Petit
Well respected, liked and revered by opponents and their opinion of him being that great is a testament that he is indeed the GOAT PF. No more arguments on who is the greatest pf. Even coaches past and present will cast a vote and they will tell you TD is by far the best. His stoic and often nonchalant demeanor is often mistaken as his not being great. Thats just who he is.
Tim was a dominating player. Jefferson words are empty and don't mean nothing..
Jefferson's ego gets in his way a lot of times. He always begrudgingly gives half-baked compliments to other definitely better player than him.. I take whatever he says with a grain of salt.
@@dianemoonstone4715
And you're right.
I don't care what he says about Duncan.
Anybody who knows anything about basketball will tell you how good Trump was as a player.
@@dianemoonstone4715
Sorry I meant Duncan as a player.
I've seen that ball to the face move by Duncan multiple times. A shame only one of em is on yt.
I have watch Basketball for almost 40 years. I have watched a lot of basketball and that first year of Duncan and Robinson (The Twin Towers) was impressive. Overall, Duncan is part of my starting forwards All-Time team. At Center Kareem Abdul Jabaar.(It is a tie with SHAQ at centre but for finesse I go with Kareem) Shooting Forward - Larry Bird. Power Forward - Tim Duncan. I would love to debate what kind of opposing starting three that could counter that. Remember, if you bring up LBJ is better, Duncan and the Spurs already dominated and beat LBJ in the finals in 2014 and Duncan was at the tail end of his career. Duncan was a master power forward.
Regular season Duncan is a top 10 player of all time easy. But Duncan is a top 3 playoff performer, at the very least top 5
The power forward position is loaded with greats back than … K.G., BARKLY, MALONE, and of course Duncan. Tim Duncan wasn’t great at any one thing but he was good at everything.
Tim Duncan class act ⚘️
🏆🏀🏆🏀🏆🏀🏆🏀🏆🏀
I miss that first clip. Players playing through accidental contact instead of looking at the ref
He was the best PF, I hated him cause he was so damn good and always beating Nash and Dirk in Dallas. That Spurs team in early mid 2000s was amazing.
That first clip just savage. Yam on the birdman🙆🏿♂️
Tim Duncan will always be my favorite player
Duncan beat alot of the so called goats of today. Truly one of the greats. 💯
Tim Duncan’s career was almost like Jordan’s. Took a small market team with no success and transformed them into a dynasty. Almost 6 for 6 in the finals too
Yea, but Chicago isn't a small market. But I understand what you mean.
@@DeTAYL. it was a small market when Jordan first got there. Only developed into what it is today because of him.
@@nathans.6723 That's not what "small market" means.
He played center for the majority of his entire basketball career, high school up. He only played power for a bit since they had Robinson
Hmmm not sure where I put Timmy but #MagicDaGOAT #2 Bird #3 Kar...Jorda...Isaiah. Timmy was better than Shaq and Kobe...
He may be the best but I liked Barkley and Karl Malone more
Yea man Karl is right up there with R Kelly as far as favorite pedos go
@@howisthatgay4275 what does that have to do with his NBA career?
Alter! Du sprichst deutsch? Cool! Gucke schon lange deine Videos, aber das war mir neu! Hat du schon mal ein Detlef Schrempf vid gemacht?
He's #1 on my list of greatest power forwards of all time. The one guy who gave TD more problems than anyone IMO was Kevin Garnett because of his length and athleticism.
he is a Legend! and my NBA card collection
