The problem is in *this* instance, this song isn't played as if it's a standard tuned guitar but just shifted down... It's played as if it's a standard tuned 7 string. And that uses a *G,* not an F#. If you were to tune your G string to an F#, and play it exactly as is, that would throw off every thing on that string by a half step. To correctly play this song on a 6 string, you would need to be tuned BEADGB. The High E isn't used often, so you really don't need it. Technically, that's off from what it should be, according to keeping the intervals the same. But, that's the only way to keep the strings consistent to how it's played on a 7 string.

be very careful if you have a floyd or a trem cuz it could screw it up. I would recommend going down to guitarcenter or a shop and having them do it cuz they put on thicker strings that the 7 strings use and they will get in the intonation right.
