The thing I love about this cutscene is that it starts with Jason waking up after being unconscious with Vaas starting the dialogue leaving you to wonder whether if he was repeating himself way before you were awake or not
God, when his face goes blank and he asks " Have I ever told you the definition of insanity" like he forgot about talking to you completely, it's so fucking scary and like a straight up admission he is crazy as fuck.
this whole scene is him literally showing you that he's insane. he goes on this monologue about how doing the same thing expecting different results is being insane, and then what does he do? try to kill you. wich he already did before. expecting you to die this time. he tells you what makes someone insane just to do it right there himself, it couldn't be a more clear admision of insanity
Interestingly it is hinted that Vaas isn't actually insane and he's just putting on a show. In a recording of a conversation he has with Hoyt he actually sounds more down to earth hinting that it might be just a show. But I love that they made it ambiguous
When I say that good characters are created with few words and not with giant monologues I mean that, a simple "conversation" with Vaas already defines 75% of the type of person he is.
This scene really is a masterpiece. The first person perspective, the calm but chilling tone in Vaas’ voice in contrast to the brutality happening in the background, the helplessness as you watch the poor man being beaten and eventually executed, the slow crescendo of the music building. And that one last repetition of Vaas’ question right before he kicks the brick. Just perfect

That jason is from the world with his friends, to a world that seduces him, just like with vaas and his sister. By the end of the game, no matter the ending, jason is just as or even more ruthless as vaas was. I used to think that killing vaas halfway through was stupid as hell, but once I took a notice for what vaas said, and how he talked to jason especially, makes it better once you look back on the fact that jason tortures his own brother to get to howet, just like vaas did the people of the island, and his siter just to live up to howet. as awesome/scary as this scene is. how insane would it be if he was talking to a corpse of a guy he executed prior to this? like he gave that whole speech to a guy he just shot, then at the last moment remembers that you're watching him as well and then he asks the same question he asked the body. the thought of it sends shivers up my spine, to be completely helpless with someone who can't tell the difference between someone who is alive or dead

+///Montana is Black/// Well...You know...recylcing story and game mechanics is not a good thing to do if you want a big name in today's game society...
Insanity is not just doing the same thing over and over again. Have you heard of practice? You're doing the same thing, but only expecting the same result. Insanity is repeating the same thing _expecting different results._ Without that last part, you might as well be running around saying =2 and expecting people to think you are somehow smart for that. =2 is rather meaningless until you include the 1+1 part, then and only then does it become sensible. But you are right about Jason becoming a monster, and the player for not trying anything new, and for buying the same old crap every other year, while expecting all of it to be different. This was exemplified well in FarCry 4, where if you stay at the table instead of going on a spree as per usual, something different does indeed happen and the antagonist never does antagonize you for a change.
@@innocentbystander3317 dude they are different topics like yes you get better at something if you do it again and again but it always will get you the same result maybe better but same result so it's different than practicing the idea is you can't get different results if you do the same thing expecting it to change is crazy so he's right
But is weird because for example scientist, they try to creste things repeating ways but changing some stuff exepcting major different results and no fails, are they crazy then? I dont think so. When u are doing excerise over And over again expecting dofferent results or better results that you are getting is tbat crazy? I dont think so..m the definition itself is not wrong, but i think it works just in some scenarios
Vaas taught me the Definition of Insanity when I was 12, I didn’t take it that seriously because I thought he was crazy I’m 20 now and I really wish I did, because I now live in Insanity myself
This speech meant a lot for jason. He became insane when he hears about his brother dies, even before that Jason keeps killing those pirates the same way over and over again, expecting it to change. I always liked that Vaas asks Jason did he ever tell him the definition of insanity multiple times, which shows by that definition that Vaas is indeed insane.
Yep now I'm thinking about the other opportunities he could of easily kill Jason with a shot to the Head One other time he tied him to a chair then lit it on fire another he shot him in the chest "maybe he knew there was a sturdy lighter in there"
And here's what I realized. In that scene, Vaas was insane both by Einstein's definition and by the dictionary definition. I don't think that was any coincidence...
Sean Long but that's the part that angers me, It goes out at full price and yet people actually pay for that? Why pay for basically the same shit at full price again and again. Its getting really stupid honestly
Devan Hunt Some people like the game enough that, yes, they do. Basic free market capitalism: a thing (product, service, commodity, etc) is worth _whatever_ the market will bear. That is, it's worth whatever price the seller cares to name, that potential buyers are willing to pay. So the latest CoD game is WORTH full price, to those people ... but not you, and not me. Once the price comes down a bit, I'm often willing to pay THAT, and get the single-player experience out of it.

you know the only reason vass is trying to kill Jason is because vass was once like Jason but later became the villian and it was only until then did he realise he was in that cycle of insanity
+Robim Mestre no Sega is insane because fans have been waiting since 2001 for sonic adventure 3 and Sega never gave us what we wanted. before you unleashed fans tell me that sonic unleashed was sonic adventure 3 it was not because of the werehog

Take your butthurt and go back to the Sonic section of youtube.
The irony in this cutscene is that it is good enough to keep going back to... you'd think you'd be smart enough to take the message only once and realize when its happening but every now and then you come back to it thinking "oh,the world is so insane nowadays" without realizing you're making part of this insanity as well...
Hey bro I just did it lol I cut all the curse words out and replaced them with nothing but I did the best in the class and the best she has seen all day today
Far Cry 3 (and in some way Far Cry 2) really defined the brand "Far Cry" for me. An "alien" open world that combines elements from "Heart of Darkness" with well known Ego-Shooter gameplay. There is also always that "was i the bad guy all along?" question at the end.
If you notice carefully, he doesn't exactly try to kill you throughout the game. He kills Jason's brother so that Jason would try to exact vengeance on him. Why did he do that? Well, Vaas was called a hero of Rook Island but was corrupted by Citra. He believed Jason is similar to him and has what it takes to remove the plague of drugs and kill Citra. Jason's hatred was what was needed to bring peace to Rook island. By putting up these death scenarios for Jason throughout the game he was making Jason stronger and more capable of defeating Hoyt. And even if justice isn't what he wanted; he probably didn't want to kill Jason. And the reason why he antagonizes you is so that other pirates and Hoyt may not question his loyalty.
@@stealthyshibe4904 This is an invalid comment. Every judge and every lawyer... would agree that sending someone with a lot of weight into a "pound of water" is intent of murder. How can you say he never tries to kill you?... when in your last fight with him... if you fail, he kills you? Even if he wanted to get rid of drugs... Thanos wanted to get rid of poberty, and to "save" the universe... but he is still a villain. Because he uses morally wrong actions.
Call me crazy but I believe he purposely made the binds weak so you could break them. As for the last fight, he drugged you, meaning he had all the time in the world to kill you with leisure. as awesome/scary as this scene is. how insane would it be if he was talking to a corpse of a guy he executed prior to this? like he gave that whole speech to a guy he just shot, then at the last moment remembers that you're watching him as well and then he asks the same question he asked the body. the thought of it sends shivers up my spine, to be completely helpless with someone who can't tell the difference between someone who is alive or dead
what do you mean
that would make this scene even more awesome !
That would crank the scene up to 11 you're right. That's pretty damn good.
ya dude that'd be creepy af, and his characters mind is so close to the edge i can see him doing it. like your standing there, watching this guy talk to a corpse he just shot, pushes it over the edge, then turns and looks at you...

@Skunkman69 well that litterally the point of amogus it self,to indicate how overrated the among us game it is, i mean the game os not bad but when the game started to hype there a lot of new people that didn't even know how to play the game even by now the game is just tinder for 9 year old and because really, people overrating among us so much but there really isn't any shit in the game so that why when there was one joke in the game people start to repeating the same joke so many time because that was really the only joke, until the joke is becaming ironic, the meme represent an Overused joke told by the community of among us at that time

'insanity is doing the exact same thing, over and over again' - Ubisoft clearly never learnt from that one.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again.
He was right , jason became a monster just by doing the same thing over and over again
Hell, Vaas died trying to kill Jason, and nothing changed. Jason defied death every time.

Devan Hunt tell me how its the same every time? Battlefield is the same.far cry is the same. Assasin creed is the same.

Vaas is the best video game villain
I don't see him as a villain..
@@stealthyshibe4904 he is a pirate kills countless people and kidnaps innocent people... how is he not a villain?
Instead, he chose to talk. As for him being a villain; I must say you're right. He is indeed a villain. But he used to be a hero before. "You Either Die A Hero, Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain".
one of the best scenes in gaming, playing this scene blind leaves you in confusion and fear for a few seconds. right before you get dumped in the water and barrely manage to escape, you have little to no room to breath. vaas was shown as ruthless before, but this scene solidified him as unpredictable which is much worse, because you have no idea what may be around every corner
