I reckon you guys should just agree to not use Blizzard, it really ruins battles. Loving the vids btw, such a clean format for battle reports, all killer no filler
Blizzard is a part of the game right now and we tend to play a more competitive style. It can be mitigated, I should have not thrown my god model right into blizzard range turn 1 there is no reason for it

Agreed, just a lot of lethality in the game to begin with. A spell that big really pushes it to the limit.
Blizzard is just flat awful. Hoarfrost might be similarly strong, but you can at least attempt to play around it (avoid the buffed unit for the duration of the buff etc.)
I have never gotten blizzard to work and neither has any opponent I've faced. But I play pretty defensive so less opportunities. Hoarfrost definitely seems fine, it helps balance out the mortal wounds arms race. There are so many debuffs built into armies these days, it's nice to be able to get normal damage through.

i feel like this game kinda highlights why fulminators are better than concussors, Concs just have so few attacks that they are prone to absolutely whiff at crucial moments
Fulminators are much better agreed! Michael always runs concussors though, he is just obsessed with Hammers I guess
Vyrkos W. Gotta love the immortal Vengorian Lord, not regretting buying the Vengorian Court box. Took a blizzard in a game vs my brothers and it was, painfully, the only damage they had that meant anything, with how much I was able to heal and how they weren't sending hammers in or focusing damage, with starter set units. Even then, they blizzarded my Terrorgheist. It's good to have your eggs in different baskets with this spell in the game. It may be a little too much.
But also... Why does everyone call them "Vai-crows"? The R goes before the K. ;-; - Sincerely, the guy who keeps saying "Kalestai", because he misread it once.
Deciding on who to cheer on isn't difficult. The Chosen of Sigmar must stand victorious today, even if they are slain to a man(Seriously, GW, lower their points or give them at least a little regeneration, since they reforge). The Soulblight Gravelords, however, are an excellent faction. Belladamma Volga and her legion of wolfen vampires are my absolute favourite in that faction, and I love that they are represented in this report.
The Stormcast Eternals are showing off some units I've never seen in action but have wanted to see for a long time: the Dracolines receiving the full juice from the Lord Arcanum on Celestial Dracoline. Knight-Incantor is an auto-include, and I already have the same model as you guys. I've been secretly working on an SCE list to surprise my friends with one day, focusing on Dracothian Guard. For all the warscrolls that Stormcast have, I feel their cavalry is where they shine brightest as a faction with Longstrikes and Lord-Relictor as necessary inclusions. These guys really need some help with all the fat the faction is carrying. Hopefully Karazai gets to rampage like he did last time he was on the channel.
Lord Exorcist is the way - if you need a cheap wizard pick him. And if you run hammers of Sigmar might as well get Astreia to buff the cats (or anything that needs +1 save). Great game and thx for the report

Its the spongebob meme of "How many times will you charge into blizzard range old man?!?" Cause you REALLY gotta look out for that..... Or at least have incantor dispel it.
we can talk about how david rolled hot but really Michael miss played. I want to say the incantor was out but honestly i didnt even consider blizzard until i was eating the mortals

I tend to save that auto unbind for the moment someone calls out magical dom. in an attempt to take away a battle tactic....clearly that was a bad call lol

I will be excited when this season is over. Blizzard has been so cheap feeling. Honestly the monster season was the only one where the rules added fun instead of making it worse.
Someone needs to run a SCE mortals list and clean house by turn 3. I have run various versions of one at 4 tournaments now and I am 12-2. You should give it a spin! Also try Astral Templars, you would not believe how convenient they are compared to a location based 6++.
Michael was going to run a list with 4 Vexillors and the Comet, but our Discord talked him into the reinforced Evocator build. Blizzard will disappear when the next edition rolls around and Karazai will return to his former glory!! Only the Faithful!
Why didn't you use the Incantor's auto-unbind for that blizzard?

Dang.. that blizzard was nasty. That was good effort to bring back a game. But after that, it would be tough for anyone.
I felt bad, I hope you still had fun watching the video :) In one game we played, Michael turned off my ward with a spell on my Frostlord and then did 18 mortal wounds with Blizzard and killed him T1. So I know the feeling :) He did a fantastic jobs of rallying his forces and continuing to score despite that very painful turn. Thanks for taking time to comment :)

We agree. We both feel that pressure to run it in our lists, otherwise your opponent has an immediate edge. We spent time in chat with our Discord to make a good list including Dracolines and it went south lol. Agreed that Michael went strong on t1 and payed a price, but lifting all of those screens meant a double would have given him the opportunity to do some serious hurt t2. I feel that SBGL sub factions are all overtuned, regardless of the nerfs and changes that have been made. I can pretty much pick any units and the army will perform quite well. For sure. Pretty much every battle report channel I follow is on the same page about blizzard being just the dumbest, haha. I'm just still salty that gw didn't do anything about it. You gotta play it and I hate that so much 😂
At like 23 minutes, how do the evocators use their lightning twice? I thought it was only the first time they fought in combat? They explode both into the mortek knights and ushoran… am I missing something?
The second roll was "blaze of glory" battle trait. Roll a number of dice equal to wound characteristic for each model, mortal wounds on 6s :)

This is a soulblight ability called deathly invocation: In your hero phase, you can pick up to 3 friendly SOULBLIGHT GRAVELORDS SUMMONABLE units wholly within 12" of a friendly SOULBLIGHT GRAVELORDS HERO. You can either heal up to 3 wounds allocated to that unit or, if no wounds have been allocated to that unit, you can return a number of slain models to it that have a combined Wounds characteristic of 3 or less. Add 1 to the number of slain models that are returned to that unit if it is wholly within 12" of a gravesite. You cannot pick the same unit to benefit from this ability more than once per phase

After getting destroyed by Karazai in a recent game I played, highlight for me was seeing him get blasted off the board by magic.
Understandable. I brought mine to a tournament last month, and he dealt over 200 wounds worth of damage over the span of three games. Great unit when your opponents don’t kill him first turn.

Why not auto-unbind the Blizzard in turn 2?
I want to say i was out of range but to be totally honest i forgot i was about to get a blizzard to the face until it was happening. it was a mis play, need to be aware that 12" blizzard range

To kill the screens of the enemy army, to get in range of blizzard and of the counter charge is a hard fish for a double. If it goes wrong it goes WRONG!
Strade hit it right on the head. The only way to this army is through those screens and the only way to get there without taking a blizzard is getting the double.

My favorite army is SBGL and I still hated that blizzard :(
I hated myself for casting it too lol. I've never done that kind of damage with the spell. An additional 9mw from Vile transference was salt in the wound. Michael went full send, and he would have near tabled me had he won that roll off. Although this one went south real fast, that is the reality of play, it happens, and Michael did great with the tools that remained in his army. thanks for taking the time to comment :)
Normally Im all for using everything you can, with no restrictions...but... i really think every should agree in casual games to not use blizzard
Damn!! I almost stop watching after Karazai got killed. I hate Blizzard so much and I play Tzeentch! Why didn’t they cap it at 10MW instead of going full damage? I also hope GW will tame the death faction a little bit in 4th because I can’t stand the abusiveness of these armies up late (except Nighthaunt).
The amount of recursion in death is hard to overcome. And with this army construction, you have to hit the screen, and then hope for the double or your gettting the bliz. But new addition is on the way and we are all ready for the bliz to get retired.

Sorry guys. gonna turn off the battle after that first blizzard. Really really bad played by Stormcast to get in range of blizzard with Karazai for really no good reason, besides what did you take the incantor for? To stop a mystic shield? On top, really lucky rolls from Dave. Not fun this battle
We never want to sugar coat our battle reports or make you feel that one of us is holding back against our opponent. In this match up, a few things happened. First, Michael moved his Incantor to a safe position, but was a bit too far away to auto unbind blizzard. He had a plan to use all of his primals to unbind it, but didn't receive any at top of 2. He was playing very aggressive and would have tabled me if he won the roll-off. The eggs-in-one basket approach is a good way to play against soulblight as it will greatly reduce the recursion factor. Misplays and events like this happen with all players, but he did the best he could after the clap back. This is very similar to a game where I yeeted a Stonehorn into his Starborne to pin and do some early damage, and he later cast a spell to remove his ward and then killed him with blizzard. It is a game-changing spell, and it will be gone in a few months. We hope that you enjoy the next battle reports. Tons of fun stuff OTW :)
Blizzard is stupid, really terrible for the game. Was also a terrible play with karazai, don’t understand just feeding him to sbgl. Idk seems like a “fun” sc list against a competitive sbgl list. Kinda disappointing this week. Great production value as always though!
Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch this video. Michael was a little too close with Karazai, having the Incantor in range to auto unbind would have made that whole interaction impossible. Michael put serious pressure on me and would have rinsed my whole army had he won the roll off. Trust, I did not feel great after that turn :) especially because Karazai is my model! Anyway, hope next week our match ups scale a bit better.
Another case of "i forgot blizzard and didn't meassure or try to play around it. So im just gonna blame the spell"
Full sending karazai into bliz range turn 1 isn't exactly clever (even tho Michael is a good player). Had he stood further back he would still be on the point and out of range. Had he screened him off with chaf he would also control the point most likely. Point is.. there is tons of stuff that could have been done that they didnt talk about.
I do agree it should be 3 d6 instead of 4 though.
