I love how every game in the series has a soundtrack with a different style.

Mega Man 3's soundtrack is really underrated, I think it arguably have the best title screen theme, the best ending theme, and the Stage Select, Hard Man, and Spark Man themes are especially good. But I also have to talk about the Mega Man 8 OST with it's stellar ending theme, Amazing Stage Select theme, really cool Opening Stage theme and charming Opening theme, and that goes for both the American and Japanese versions. I love the game's music style, really 2000ish with some synth, I love it. But still my favorite Mega Man themes of all time are Metal Man and the MM2 Password themes. Btw great video and glad to see you back
Interestingly, the Mega Man Legacy Collections actually used the MM3/8 soundtracks for their respective menus/title screens. Bit of variety wouldn't have hurt but hey those are definitely great soundtracks so who's complaining
@@reesecarlton Very true, didn't think about it actually. Also interestingly enough they used for almost every music of the Volume 1 the OST from the complete works of Rock Man from the PS1. Cool nod, but bummed down that they didn't include the weapon hot swapping.

yeah personally, the second wily theme for MM3 is the best out of any wily stage in the series, something about it makes it feel like you're about to enter a last stand against your foe

Can the music be slightly louder? Some sections I found it hard to pick out the song you were talking about and had to look it up. I love this video series. Your enthusiasm for the games is infectious and authentic.

My favorite OST is from Megaman 3, i love the Title theme, Protoman's theme and SnakeMan's theme, but i also love most of Megaman 2 songs such as Airman, MetalMan and Flashman's theme. Of Course i love Wily Castle 1.
MM3 is my favorite game of all time, in part due to the soundtrack. They're all great tunes, but I think Top Man's stage has the best song in the game.

A fun fact about MM10 Wily Stage 5, the melody is a callback to the part of the opening cutscene where Wily appears. Leitmotifs are something that you don't hear almost ever in Mega Man games, making this one extra cool.

As someone with a music degree, Mega Man 3's soundtrack has a lot of jazz influence as it uses the blues scale and mixolydian mode frequently. That's what gives it uts distinct style. Just thought I'd help articulate your point!
It has always amazed how Megaman songs never fails to please people's different preferences. There are those that prioritize the melody, others de whole composition. Some prioritize the theme connection with the stage, others just how good it is to be listened by itself anywhere outside the game. For many songs these cathegories overlap.
I myself enjoy the melody more than anything else, so, for example, stone man's theme sounds pretty catchy to me, but I might understand it could sound bland for people that favors the melody in a less degree than I do.
No surprise Wily Stage 1 from MM7, Frost man, Nitro man, Ring man, Shade man, Blizzard man, Pump man, Fuse man, Blast man, Commando man, Spark man, Knight man, Wind man, Tundra Man, Blade man, Air man, Splash Woman, Galaxy man... and many other very melody heavy themes tend to become my favourites.
(I was obsessed with Ring man's theme when I was young -- random note)
Honestly, I LOVE the music from Megaman 8. It warms my heart, makes me happy, and brings back wonderful memories. The only theme I don't really care for is the Search man theme. The only thing unfair about the whole soundtrack is that it is fully orchestrated, as opposed to all the tunes from the 8 bit games.

Wily 1 from MM1 is such a good one. It has a certain epicness, but also a bit somber, like Mega Man is pushing on in spite of fatigue to fulfill his mission.

I agree about MM11's music. It's a great entry to the series, but I think the budget went to other aspects of the game over the music and/or they had a new team working on the music that didn't work on the previous games and/or have played a Mega Man game. It's not bad music, but not "Mega Man" music.
The compositions are 100% megaman. The instrumentation is generic rave nonsense.
Edit: Look up JX MM11 16-bit. It really makes the themes stand out from each other.

I'd say that Ice Mans theme is the best theme in 1 robot masters, but I'd give the best song to the wily's boss stage theme.
Flash is allegedly a Metallica song. I'd say Wood is the best by far.
3 has the best soundtrack of the NES ones. The intro theme is the best intro theme of them all and maybe the best song. Shadow Mans stage is the best theme though. The wily themes are super underrated. Yes, the YOU GOT THEME IS AMAZING.
4-Cossack 2nd theme is the best, followed by dive man and I'd agree that the intro/title theme is awesome. Also Wily's boss theme. MM4 has an underrated soundtrack. (hey we agree!)
5 has the most meh. Best robot Master theme is Napalm imo, but the best song is the credits theme, by far. Yeah the wily 1 theme is good, would be my 3rd.
Tomahawk is the best in 6, other than maybe the credits medley at the end I suppose. The wily boss theme is pretty cool.

So, my opinions of the following might change when I do my own rankings of all them, but for now I'd say...
Mega Man 7 sucks and so does the soundtrack. Except wily 1 theme is the best one and I'd agree that the best music was put into the castle. Best robot master was, uhhhhh.....shade man I'd agree.
I love 8's soundtrack. Agreed it's super underrated. I actually own a Sega Saturn and I used to own Mega Man 8 on it before I got robbed in Christmas 2003, but I DO have x4 on it, was able to get a replacement for that one. Anyway, it's tough between Aqua and Frost Man, I'd go with Frost. I might say that Wily 2 is the best, though.

9 the best is the hardest choice imo, Wily 2 is the best song probably. best robot master is too hard, Tornado and Galaxy are both about as high as it gets (lol) but maybe galaxy for me? Wily's boss theme is underrated.
Man, Solar and Sheep are the two best, but Nitro is so good. Wily 2 is the best one here though, it's the most maniacel theme ever basically. I made a combo video to it. Shout outs to bass shop theme.
11 is okay in the music department. I dunno, I like that wily theme and the one with the dancing robot.

I love how Wily 5 from Mega Man 10 is a remix of the intro theme, great way to cap the game off.
Fun fact: maverick battle theme from mega man X is a remix of the megaman II stage select theme
And your fun fact is correct: Power fighters 2 has the Megaman 7 Wily's capsule theme as Wily machine's theme.

Skull Man and Pharaoh Man used to be my favorites from 4 but Ring Man has slowly grown on me. Especially after listening to Hyde209's amazing remix of it, called Ring a Ding. But that 2nd Cossack stage used to (and still does) blow my mind and is my and my old friend's favorite by far. May even be my favorite NES track of ALL TIME, as it's continues to slap inside my lobes as I type this. B)

interestingly, while PU has alright remixes overall, its best remix is actually Dr. Wily Stage 1-2. They extended the theme.

Bro... Top Man is the TRUE banger from MM3! It starts out with a high powered driving riff, it feels like it's out of an 80s/90s groove metal song. And then it kicks in with this wavy trilly futuristic/electronic bit after 20 seconds. It's EXACTLY what a Mega Man track should be: A high-energy fusion of rock and 8-bit electronica. I will die on this hill.

Very interesting that 3 had a particular sound to it that rubbed you the wrong way, I always felt like it was a great blend of 2's hard rock feel and 5's jazz. I agree that 4 goes mad hard though, always found it a little underrated 🤘 Bright Man and Cossack 2, both soooooo good
