You took out a metal catch can to install a plastic one? That is sitting right above the exhaust/turbo and will get a lot of radiating heat. That's a bit risky
I have the same knock-off filter on the shelf waiting to be installed on an F30 N47 diesel but the install is pending on not finding a a good install solution for the can itself. Location wise I am targeting the other side somewhere near the electrical box. How has your can survived life so close to the exhaust manifold? Personally would fear of it melting and causing a nice and stinky oily mess...
I had similar fears and questions but so far so good👍. It gets hot due to gas circulation but didn't notice anything weird. Location was a problem for me too as, ideally, it needs to go through a long hose to enable better condensation. However, having any catch can in any location is much better than not having it.
I clearly stated that it wasn't original mann provent but a copy. That's why I improved the filter efficiency by adding a wire scourer and a floss wrap around the filter.

That's a Chinese knockoff, if you have a Mann and Hummel Provent 200 I'd advise against this.
