I'd be fine with just one change: Do NOT accept trainees that you don't want in your group ffs. I'm sick of the evil editing, the mind games, the riggory, the manipulation.
@@whatlikeitshardd Maybe they could include one japanese song and one chinese song in one of the first missions? That way, they could showcase their strengths without worrying about the language for the moment
@@whatlikeitshardd but groups often promote in other countries (Japan and US mostly), so it would make sense for at least one mission to incorporate songs from those countries.
Both of boys planet centers trained for under 2 years and they are super talented. I think we just need stricter audition process and make sure no fillers added just for laughs
@@farkhodovakamila7 yes exactly!! even yeonjun himself said that he was not a good dancer naturally and that he trained and practiced a lot just to dance better
If you watched My Teen Girl, the mentorship in that show was excellent. The show was a mess and the ages of the contestants was horrendous but the mentors were amazing.
I would say Soyeon and Aiki were the best members, while Soyeon encouraged individuality and Aiki had to organize the first years who didn't have identities yet. Yuri helped epitomize what an idol was and Ms Ock Joohyun... um
@@jadehornedserpent1417 I think Joohyun helped the contestants on My Teen Girl with their vocal performances a lot, cause some of them really didn’t train beforehand the show and do they definitely did need the mentoring for their vocals cause that wasn’t going to be fixed overnight😭
@@jadehornedserpent1417 right from the start, Ock Joohyun was against mentoring Class 3 because it was mostly made up of ex-YG trainees that were already set in their ways. As a vocal coach, she did a great job coaching all the contestants with their vocals but as a mentor she really clashed with the YG training system.
I guess I must have missed some of her vocal coaching, it's true that she's great with vocals. I just don't think she was very appropriate as a mentor for idols specifically - having a vocal mentor is integrated for a system like the produce series, but mtg was more focused on general sp mentors featured I reckon. Yeah the YG system would be annoying to deal with as a properly trained vocalist. (And the hip outfits were really flashy and kinda gaudy for the concept.)
The judges and mentors part is the one that I was waiting for the most because the judges on both planet shows were just not professional and helpful at all. I even said that some contestants acted more like judges (Hui) and judges acted more like contestants. This method makes sense the most since it is just so much more practical and fair for everyone involved
Actually the mentors commented that they actually do help the trainees out its just that mnet chooses not to air those moments. They want drama for the ratings I guess.
I think it's so sad that the members have been in the industry for like 10 years and for 6 and a half as Dreamcatcher yet no one ever covers them. We only had the Rolling Quartz one but that doesn't really count since they're already a rock band. And this doesn't even have to do with the fact that they're that popular, they still seem to fly under the radar. No what I mean is exactly what you said here: without being a fan you can acknowledge that most of their choreo is insane and they also do the live singing. Hell, even a Minx song would do. If a rookie can do WDYCTMH and drive on a skateboard and do Siyeon's whistle note, no one would question their abilities, ever. But we haven't seen anything, I can literally only think of 2 snippets from something laid down like a livestream by Purple Kiss and I think Rocket Punch (but that also doesn't really count since they're just big fans of DC). This is the sad thing, idols would probably only cover DC if they were on Queendom bc it's literally the show concept. Is it bc they're too unique and too much of a niche? Not everyone likes their music. Or are their choreos just too intimidating😂
@Neopearl ugh don't get me started. It seems to have shifted more to a NewJeans sound (thankfully but also not good for multiple reasons). But when Tomboy and Ring ma bell came out I wanted to cry (Yena did it too but she at least made it more fun rock and stuck to it for more than one song). It's ironic bc for years we wanted the recognition and that ppl actually get to appreciate rock. But it was so obvious that this had nothing to do with liking the sound but just being edgy and having this shock value. I hope this isn't taken the wrong way bc I like a lot of groups and still listen to them but just look what they did after their rock inspired cb. Look at the fashion and sound they're using now, and look at all the other groups... and a lot of members from a particular group are friends with Dreamcatcher AND produce themselves so this connection kinda breaks my brain. I mean Dreamcatcher is successful now but I think a lot of people still don't get why it took them that long. There will always be a wave of trends that hyped up the masses but when it came to the Dreamcatcher niche it hurt. Their songs aren't even that hard that casual listeners can't enjoy them. But bandwagon stanning is a HUGE problem, in the industry in general. We can just be glad that Dreamcatcher were the first to get into this niche. Like truly a blessing. The niche is barely big enough for 2 big creepy groups (Purple Kiss being the other and they already have big company backing but even they have to slowly grow).
For the training period I was going to say 9 months minimum, there are plenty of idols who only had to train for 9 months and were some of the most talented members. (Doyoung of NCT and Niki of enhypen) Not only that but both of the centers in Boys Planet trained for under 2 years. I think the auditions for the show simply need to be more rigorous to rule out trainees who are doing it for experience.
jiwoo as a stage presence mentor is such a good idea omg. I rarely see people talking about kard as a group but seeing jiwoo mentioned because of her stage presence is so good.
The judges being allowed to vote who gets eliminated probably wouldn't work in reality because it allows mnet to rig. Watching boys planet, it was apparent there was a bias towards k group when they were giving out the star status in Ep1, and the handing out of three stars to popular/people they liked, to build up hype and anticipation. It's clear Mnet does tell them what to do somewhat.
i think that it would only work if the judges had to follow the rules where they have to eliminate a certain number of people from each cell, or else yeah i can envision them just eliminating global trainees
@@biancam8441 even then they could eliminate popular c trainees they don't want. Ex. boys planet again, the way they cut rickys screentime because of his popularity, they could've easily just had him eliminated. The judge thing is cool in theory but mnet is too sketchy for this to truly work
Glad I have this video to distract from the whole Bang Chan / Ive issue that's going on right now. I made the mistake of scrolling through Wonyoung's Instagram comments and I feel sick over what people are saying to her. I really hope she's okay. Thanks for this video Cheryl, it came at the right time ❤
As a newbie Stay I hate how people have just taken his words and ran with it. And what they are writing on Wonyoung’s comments 😔😔 they definitely do not represent Stays. How people can be filled with so much hate just confuses me. Edit: oh I just wanted to add that whilst I agree that Bang Chan can say whatever he wants on his own videos and I respect how often he speaks his mind…I do also believe that he could have foreseen the damage his words could have done. I don’t think the hate is his fault (just crazy hateful people jumping to conclusions) but he also should have taken into account his position.
This is one of the reasons why I left the fandom since 2020 I realized how some of them can be so toxic and end up fighting with every fandom especially my ults Ateez. I'm still a fan of stray kids but being a stay is draining... I hope Wonyoung is okay she's honestly a strong person
@@emilia123zz yeah same. There are few insta pages and yt channels that I follow because I enjoy their content but keeping up with stays has become draining 🤦🏾♀️. I don’t even care about the fandom. What I care about is the fandom making skz especially Chan look bad

This was so amazing! Why couldn’t we have gotten this show? Someone fire the current CEO of MNet and put Cheryl in charge! I swear, survival shows would be so much better if fan input wasn’t reduced down to just voting and hate tweets.
i honestly believe Kepler wouldve been so much better if they had stuck to a 3 3 3 structure, wouldve stopped bias from both knetz and netz in general. Also would've been hard for Mnet to rig anything. just imagine a group having a strong K line, J line and C line!
@@hay_ziers3008lol, cry blood then. She debuted, is the most popular, and will still be popular post kep1er compared to your nugu pigs that will disappear form the kpop industry once they disband.

I think your show is perfect! I love the ideas and the missions. The only thing I would change is the final mission; I think that's the moment where they have to prove to be versatile, even if they have a core talent. I mean they can choose that position in the song, but they should sing and dance at least, make a full performance. Other than that, everything sounds fun and sensible! I def would watch it
Kep1er members deserve so much better from their company Wakeone and also from parts of the fandom that are toxic to the members and fans. I have met some really nice Kep1er fans and casual fans who dislike the company, not the members. I am slightly glad how Wakeone is promoting their latest comeback Giddy and promoting their B-sides… I am surprised that they acknowledging all of their B-sides compare to their We Fresh comeback. I think their team does a good job for their Japanese releases.I hope Wakeone continues to find concepts that suit all of the members for their Korean title tracks and promote them. We can only hope.
I dont think that they will ever do bcz their main purpose is to garner attention by creating drama hence the final line up is a result of that and everything about that show is rigged
@@fatimamalik5926 Your probably right. But if you really think abt it, wouldn't a competition with less people who are close in skill and talent be more exciting than a competition with 99 contestants half of whom are nowhere near the rest? @@az23-j yes I 100% agree in this way everyone would have gotten equal screentime to showcase their talent too but I think this is all just a fantasy that we are making up in our heads right now😅
I don’t watch survival shows like this but this would actually interest me because it focuses more on the talent and what the trainee can do. The missions actually sound fun and showcases what the trainees can do. The age and training time requirements are needed as well.
Someone get a producer NOW😭 From the challenges and the song picks, the mentors you chose, to the ratio and the voting/elimination setup. I'd watch 100%. Having idols as mentors not only benefits the trainees when they're being helped, but it would also bring in viewers that might not have watched otherwise. This is def a great concept.
These are my thoughts about this program : (English is not my first language, there may be mistakes, I apologize for them from now on) 1)If the program was like this, we would have seen idols (after they debut) with much more experience. 2)The side missions is gonna unified the team spirit, and highlighted the trainees who have the spirit of the leader. 3)The division of tasks according to the trainees' choice of their talents makes placing the appropriate positions for them much more logical and easier. 4) The idea of The judges performing with them is genius because it gives them a lot of energy and confidence and makes people more excited to watch the show. 5)Performing the songs of previous generations through survival shows is genius and also important, it makes the program more K-Pop (I don't know how to explain this but I hope you got my point ) 6)The number of Korean, Chinese and Japanese trainees is very logical. 7)All the tasks are wonderful and prove the talent of the idol. Which line(rap line, vocal line or dance line) would it be if it was debuted in the group (and There are no useless members) 8)The voting system is accurate and fair , there are equal opportunities for all trainees, all they have to do is give everything they have, 9) the examples of the coaches are great, we really need real coaches, we don't need meaningless reactions, 10) the elimination system is very genius, final thoughts: this program is perfectly competitive, and At the same time, all that the trainee must do is show there talent with confidence. I have not seen a better program than this. I hope that it was real. in the end thank you sooo much about your hard work doing this great video
Your 'no training no invite' rule would have not only made P48 impossible to create but it would have destroyed so many satisfying journies. Seeing these untrained/ self trained Japanese girls work and grow, often with the aid of their new friends, was a key element of what made that season great. Hell, So-hye from 101 wouldn't have made it into the show according to your rule.
In terms of the training time minimum, I think that could just be fixed by the audition process to get in the competition. People had to apply to get on girls planet. Not everyone who applied ended up making it onto the show. There may be people who come from untraditional backgrounds or are just naturally talented (ex: Mina from Twice trained less than a year I'm p sure).
I think at this point it has become a trope for survival shows to be more strict and professionl for boys and less for girls idk why this happens but you are debuting as an idol so everything should be equal
My only criticism is that the debut group should be a bigger group (12) cause i just feel like for survival shows it makes sense, to also make more viewers happy that their favorite made it and thus have more fans waiting for their debut
Agree! While I love ZB1's (the Boys Planet group) lineup, if they added 3 extra spots there would've been even bigger hype than there is now. Especially since the contestants in the 10th-12th spots in the finale were some of the stan attractors of the season, especially internationally.
@@goldyd144 gosh with addition of JAY, Phanbin, KEITA !!! Zb1 would def be wayyy more popular that they already have now. Keita and Jay hold literally the top spot for Intl fans.
If they were starting with 99, I might go for that but with only 40 contestants, more than a quarter would make the final group. That doesn't seem like much of a competition.
@@goldyd144 I disagree. 9 is the perfect amount. Any more than that there is gonna be even more terrible mistreatment for at least 4-5 people lol. More lines for smaller groups 😅
@@vampr3751 I can see that. W1 can barely do well with Kep1er's line distributions. It was worse with Izone, but the fandom was more united than Kep1ians, so it didn't affect them as much.
i was all in until the planet clash. i think the saddest part of girls and boys planet was separating the groups, so doing it right at the end when friendships have been formed already would make it even more noticeable. the structure of the challenge seems overly complicated but im sure that a production team could simplify the explanation and streamline it, and its not like produce shows havent pulled weird ass stuff before
Love these ideas. Some of the big problems of these shows are addressed, but I'm so glad the judging aspect was shown. I hated the bias some mentors have, like I was always confused on their decisions/comments. They needed to be more objective.
The one thing I give Kepler is that they don’t have any dozens like they all have a strength. I feel like every survival show has those dozen trainees who somehow get into the group, despite being less experienced than their others. Kepler is more balanced when it comes to skills and I give them that
The state of Kep1er just makes me sad. The girls are brilliant and passionate performers, and I just don't think their A&R is giving them anything to work with. Even Giddy was... just okay, which really sums up this entire GP999 and Kep1er saga. They don't suck, but they're just okay.
Hi I like Kep1er and I think it’s interesting how some Kep1er fans and casual fans prefer their B-sides and Japanese releases over their title tracks. Many of their B-sides like MSVK, Downtown, Lion Tamer, Dreams, Back to the city, LVLY, could have been title track material.. I think all of their 4 title tracks have received mixed opinions from the public. Wa da da charted well in Korea, Up! Seems to be a casual fan favorite. I have seen Giddy get some casual fans interested in Kep1er again. I am slightly glad that Wakeone is acknowledging Kep1er’s B-sides for their latest Giddy comeback.
@@wonderlucky1912 their company is quite desperate since every other girlgroup has a specific concept/color and I believe they debuted when Itzy and aespa were the face of 4th gen and they had crazy loud ass music (that worked for them) so the company thought of going with the trend at the time but they didn't expect in a few months so many ggs would be doing such different things and charting, they should have established a specific concept for Kep1er right at debut or have kept up with the trends. Their b-sides are good tho.
@@ennauak Hi! I see what you mean I think it depends on someone’s music taste but it seems like the general public consensus is that not all of the Kep1er members fit their concept/music genre especially with songs like Wa Da Da and We Fresh. (They are Great performance type of songs) I do agree that these songs don’t make all of the members stand out equally compare to songs like Up! And now Giddy. I think their original debut space concept could have work if Wakeone put more of an effort. Yes there B-sides are great and even their Japanese releases and I think those concepts/music genres make all of the members stand out.
I think there should also be some sort of marketing/fan interaction mission along the way. Being an idol in 2023 is not just about creating good songs it's about how you interact with fans and how you brand yourself.
Have you seen Peak Time? Your first mission sounds a lot like what the show did for its combined unit round. It was my favorite round of the show, the idols were really able to show what they were good at. I think the show had a few issues especially when it came to benefit weighting (and taking a "scandal" of one of the groups too seriously) but overall I was surprised how open and fair they were after seeing so many mnet survival programs (round 1 elims were only judge voting, fully disclosing votes, judges weren't mentors until the final round where they had no power, one of the judges produced a song used during a round and was barred from voting that round, etc).
as someone who ults kep1er i can admit that a lot is wrong with the company that manages them and i wish annoying “fans” didnt blame it on the girls itself. i can say that the lineup would be different (or maybe should) not because of the girls not being talented but because there were people who deserved to debut. currently kep1er is a mess and its not the girls fault and i feel so bad for them but their company dont know what to do. girls planet in my opinion wasn’t a mess except the global votings being the same as the korean ones, because global votes are many different countries and korea is one a 60:40 scale of votes would’ve made it more fair.
@@yashiswrld technically yes, the japanese and the chinese planet join to form a global planet and the 16 korean contestants make 2 groups of 8 but they are one planet. so that makes 16 people in the korean planet and another 16 in the global planet. edit: this is my shorts channel account btw incase you are confused.
The editing is amazing and your ideas are genius ! Having stage presence mentors is really important and I love your lineup. Also, since your talked about it, Youth With You 2 was an amazing survival show and I recommend everyone to watch it : no (or not much iirc) drama and evil editing, super open-minded, supportive mentors, top tier talent, performances, editing and camera work and the girls were like a family ! We saw their interactions a lot and many had strong personalities that shined. They were also older generally (the maknae of the final group was above 18) so that can be why they felt more mature and pleasant to watch. I'd love to hear your opinion on it someday but I understand that it's long to watch plus the group already disbanded :/ but yeah those final performances with the mentors were soo good.
I feel that Chuang (Produce Camp) did a decent job of showcasing all or a large chunk of the contestants through their variety and BTS (Behind the Scenes) RUclips content (although I think it did drain many of the contestants' energy). I believe that a modified version of the outside/BTS content would help people feel more connected to the contestants. It would have to premier within the same timeline as the more edited series and not after weeks/months of the show airing. As we have seen with multiple produce/survival groups, when more BTS content comes out, people are more willing to vote for or realize how amazing certain contestants are.
to add to vocal mentors, i think a really good choice is Bora of Cherry Bullet! shes been through the show and could totally sympathize with the members. we also saw she was an amazing leader during the show and could lead the people on the survival show without being overly mean also a dreamcatcher bside wouldve been nice :( but thats just me being biased anyway someone get her a survival show IMMEDIATELY
I know that nobody is reading this, but I've been rewatching this video and want to say it anyway One change I would make to the elimination process is that instead of the judges choosing who to eliminate, they choose who to save, and the people that aren't saved are eliminated. It's the same process, really, but to the fans, it looks less like a direct attempt to sabotage their faves and more of an attempt to save their other faves.
Ok, so I’ll try to recap what I remember. It would be great if anyone can let me know if I made a mistake -mentors and judges are completely separated -contestants have to be 16+ and have 2+ years of training experience -the ratio for each nationality in the final lineup is fixed (5 Koreans, 2 Japanese, 2 Chinese) -stage presence mentors pick the center, and fan votes determine the face of the group -here’s how the elimination works: 1.a. In the first mission, each contest chooses which strength she wants to showcase (vocal/rap/dance), and joins the respective group for that. 1.b. No one gets eliminated after the first mission. But judges pick their top9 2.a. In the second mission, the top9 contestants are split (8 and 9 stay together) and choose their groups (8 groups of 5) 2.b. The mission’s theme is a concept battle. For each concept, there are two teams that perform one song each. These two team compete against each other, and the winning team has advantages in the elimination process. 2.c. Two Korean girls, one Japanese girl, and one Chinese girl get eliminated by fans through votes. 2.d. Afterwards, judges get to eliminate the same number of contestants, but they can’t eliminate the “no touch” contestants (the top x number of contestants for each nationality according to fan votes) 2.e. 32 contestants remain. 3.a. The third mission is a “planet” clash. The Chinese contestants form one group, the Japanese contestants form one group, and the Korean contestants are split into two groups of 8 members. 3.b. Each group can choose the difficulty of their mission, which will determine how high the maximal reward (vote bonuses) can be. 3.c. The Korean groups share the rewards. The remaining two groups share theirs. 3.d. 7 Korean contestants are eliminated, 3 Japanese contestants are eliminated, and 3 Chinese contestants are eliminated. I didn’t get how they get eliminated, but I suppose it’s similar to how it worked for the second mission. 3.e. 19 contestants remain. 4.a. In this (4th) round, eliminated contestants can try to re-enter the competition through solo performances. 4.b. The fans are the ones who get to vote. 4.c. The top contestant for each country gets to re-enter the competition. 4.d. 22 contestants remain. 5.a. The contestants will be separated into 4 groups (2 groups of 5, and 2 groups of 6), and have to perform two songs: one bside, and one 2nd gen song. 5.b. Judges pick the bside, and fans pick the 2nd gen songs 5.c. Mentors join the 2nd gen song performances 5.d. The best bside performing team gets exempted from elimination. The same goes for the best 2nd gen song performing team. Fan votes will exempt a few contestants from elimination as well (those with the most votes) 5.e. Judges eliminate 3 Korean contestants, 2 Japanese contestants and 2 Chinese contestants that aren’t exempted. 5.f. 15 contestants remain. 6.a. The last (6th) mission is traditional. The contestants perform new original songs. 6.b. Fan votes (nothing else) determine the final lineup. Fans pick their top2 Korean contestants, top1 Chinese contestant, and top1 Japanese contestant each, during the voting process. 6.c. 9 members remain, and show their gratitude to whoever read this recap until the end.
Tq for write it down ..but i dont get how they manage the final line up ...we vote for the top 4 that guarantee for the final line up then how we pick for others 5 ??
@@Princess_Liliana_Cynthia each individual fan basically votes for their own personal top4, but all 15 contestants receive votes. And it’s basically the 9 contestants with the most votes that are included in the final lineup
i love how the mentors in this improved version actually HELP the trainess and not just judge them knowing they are just rookies omg i always hate that
In my opinion, here are the idols that I think would work well as mentors (I’m not dividing them based on specialties as I think their knowledge extends to more than one thing). Also, I’m basing this off of idols that I think have shown good communication skills in teaching others: BoA, CL, Taeyeon, Hyo, Jessica, HyunA, Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, Jihyo, Momo, Wendy, Solar, Moonbyul, Hwasa, Seungyeon, Chung Ha, LE, Solji, Yeji, Soyeon, Bibi, AleXa, Youha Also, I know that you weren’t a fan of how Sunmi and Tiffany handled being mentors. But I believe Sunmi expressed that MNET cut out a lot of footage where she was actually giving advice/criticism to the contestants. So, throw them in too! (Is that too many? Oh, who am I kidding! This is make believe! The more the merrier! 🤩🙌🎉)
I love most of the idea especially the one where only ages 16+ are allowed and the fixed ratio of the group and contestants. Plus the missions especially the stars one is so innovative and fun omg It really tests the participants' ability to strategize and gauge their limits/strengths - this part could show who's really suited for being a leader imo. *The elimination mechanics was BRILLIANT.* I initially thought I wanted an elimination where the judges (same as you I'd prefer it if the judges and mentor are separate so there would be no bias) will score the trainees based on their missions and the least ranking people would be subject for elimination - what the fans can then do is vote for the contestants they wanna save. This will guarantee that only the most talented are safe but will probably, most likely, compromise the popularity of the group (since the least scorers might have the most popular people in there). Having yours would balance both talent and popularity better -- but now thinking about it, that's disregarding the fact that fans will probably vote for their picks to be in the safezone regardless of talent and there's a possibility that only talented people might be in the danger zone so I guess your method still has room for improvement? Since it still sliiiiiiightly compromises talent. Maybe a mix of judge scoring from the mission and fan votes for the safe zone? Idk. *For the limit of 2 years training experience:* I'm not too sure - there could be independent trainees (who haven't gone on training under a company at all) that are very talented like kim jaehwan (wanna one's main vocalist). In produce japan, most of them were independent trainees that never received training but there were hidden gems like kawanishi takumi (great performer and expressions, vocals were developed throughout the show). I think instead of setting a limit of training experience, I'll just let the audition phase be stricter instead of letting just anybody in. afaik, they hold auditions to determine who the participating trainees will be.
@@everglowup omg got noticed 🤧 seriously though mnet or any other survival shows should really consider your ideas, it's too good and very well planned 😭
i like this set up! it's very interesting. the one thing i'd change tho is for mission 3, i'd have one of the korean groups work with the c-girls and the other korean group to work with the j-girls. even though they're doing separate songs, because their points add up together they'll need to discuss and coordinate among themselves to find a strategy that works for everyone. it'd disadvantage the C/J girls who'll have a language barrier and they won't be able to strategize and work together the way the korean girls will. splitting the k-girls so that one team earns points with J and the other with C, will mean all of them will have varying levels of language difficulties and have to overcome that to strategize and make sure both teams win the most amount of stars
i dont see an issue with trainees using these shows as experience, especially when there are a lot of contestants that quickly go home. its always good to get more experience performing in front of a crowd and a trainee probably doesnt get a lot of that. i like how my teenage girl did it, where everyone got a chance to perform and get feedback but there was the core group that was taken to be the survival contestants
I usually don't watch long K-pop videos, but oh my goodness, everything about the video, from the editing to the rearrangement of the competition, is absolutely amazing!🙌 I hope MNET producers take note of your fantastic ideas and start coming up with similar ones. Keep up the great work!😁
Something I noticed when you said "First place should be FOTG because they had the most votes" is that you didn't comment on the voting system. Now that's fine, it's a 30 minute video already and you don't need to go into detail about every single aspect, lol. But technically P01 in GP999 didn't have "the most votes", she had "the most *points* based on the 50-50 weighting of all Korean votes to all international votes". It's pedantic but I just wonder if you'd keep that system or make any changes to it. :) I don't have a preference myself tbh
wow this video is sooo impressive!!! I think I would actually watch a survival show like this! The thing that ALWAYS bothered me when I watched the produce series was the amount of participants and their lack of screentime... that's why maybe I enjoyed iland way more because I could actually remember all of them and get to know them more.... although I'm not saying iland was a flawless show don't get me wrong hahaha aaand I don't really watch survival shows anymore they are to stressful for me hahaha
You explained in this video what the format of everything would ect. but have you thought of like the fillers? like the side 'fun' activities in between missions that would let us get to know the trainees better? would love to hear you opinion on that.... (this is my second comment hahah)

i really like when people try to create a more ideal survival show! i think most of your suggestions in terms of the voting/elimination process and missions sound fun and should be put out. however i think the contestant criterion should add the requirement of fluency in korean for foreign trainees. it's normal to ask for language fluency when you apply for jobs overseas, plus being good at korean would reduce the chance of getting evil editing because mnet obviously did not give them the things they promised. while i don't necessarily want all trainees to speak korean as if it were their native language, it would be better for them to be able to engage in daily conversation. i saw some people wanting to reduce the required trainee period, and i think it should be dependent on the performance and information on the company through casting calls. survival shows are oftentimes a big opportunity for those who want to make it big, do not have a clear future plan due to company's difficulties or idols in need of a second chance. it's up to the casting crew to take those factors into consideration so i think the requirement of training period should be flexible. overall, sounds cool on paper, but i'm not sure mnet is going to do just that.. maybe the first of the first step we should take is to find a broadcast company which has good intention and would do the show for the pure purpose of producing a good one.
i think this is a very good well planned out idea i love this vid. the only thing i disagree with is probably the training years. i agree not joining survival shows solely for experience but 2 years is a LOONG time and some people are truly capable of being as good as other idols with less than a year
This was honestly such a well crafted Survival Show. I hope that this system happens during Girls Planet 2, or even better, I-Land 2 since it’s airing later this year and MY GODDNESS that show was literally a show basically built to give trainees and viewers depression. Just don’t forget to credit my girl and give her royalties and copyright ownership @mnet
Cheryl, your editing and presentation skills are seriously amazing. I've been watching you since 2021, and my god, the quality has gotten better for each video. Thanks for your hard work 💜 😊
youre soo creative i loved this.. personally i'd keep the connect mission as the first one bc of how it's a general introduction of what's like being an idol (which is why trainees get nervous and everything) and because if it was the other way round i fear there would be cases of those who only can dance but sing poorly, etc and an idol cant always be in their comfort zone
I have ideas for how contestants could move on to the next round! TEAMS: The winning team for each mission would be safe from elimination. So in the show, half of the teams from each mission would automatically advance and the remaining contestants would rely on votes. Top 9 would be judges pick and could be from both the winning and losing teams. PLANET STAR: The top 1 contestant of each round would automatically be granted a free pass to the finale. This is a double-edged sword because while they won't have to worry about elimination, they still have to compete in the missions and prove themselves throughout the rounds that they deserved the pass. FINAL VOTE ROUND: I think the final lineup would see one girl from each planet picked by judges, and the voting would end the night before instead of during the actual finale, so the judges would know the full lineup and pick the girls that would be cohesive. Maybe the live finale could have a vote for one last girl for ratings. But! The PLANET STAR for each round wouldn't be elligible for judge picks, they would have to be voted in by the public.
as someone that didn’t watch girls planet 999, I would be definitely watching your version of it!! sounds so fun and entertaining!! I also would like to suggest allowing the winners of fourth round to have a day off(just like what happened in i-land) because poor girls need to rest😿
I can totally see what you're saying with the minimum training period but personally I feel like 2 years is too long. Some idols have already debuted by the time 2 years of training would have passed. I feel like that's setting the bar of entry too high.
this was actually very good period. i love how well analysed this was, organised, a voting system that makes sense. judges and mentors actually coming into play, and the choice of missions. and let's not even talk about the editing cuz it actually devoured, and serve whatever it had to. out of context but i see myself as a bigger star creator then a planet guardian, so i really hope in the near future we could maybe see you re-do boys planet aswell, cuz damn wasnt that messy too😧
Bro imagine having to change the lyrics and melody of a song's verses with something the trainees composed themselves for the planet clash mission. I want that to happen
i would watch this show (even if i have to go through elimination pain again...) also your editing is great btw and i like the choices for the concept missions! (kind of long personal opinion) personally 1 thing i would change is for the final mission rather than being split based on dominant talent it should be like usual (based on concept and simply what song they like) bcs we already got the dominant talent mission and there might be some contestants who consider themselves an all-rounder or equally good at different skills. and i think minimum 2 years training IS a good idea, but when i think about how rank 1 and 2 of boys planet (i frgt how it was with gp999) both had less than 2 years of training it makes me think we could lose some valuable contestants this way 🤔so maybe 1 year + higher audition standard? but "they're not good now but could improve later on the show" should NOT become a reason to accept them. + i think experience outside of idol training should be taken into consideration too (such as some contestants literally being teachers or professionals) despite their shorter than 2 years actual idol training history. that's just my opinion 😋
omg this is such a cool idea. mnet has done so many survival shows, and they each had strengths. if they combined the best of all those shows, the results would actually be an enjoyable product lol
Idk but having 40 contestant for a 9 membered girlgroup is kinda low maybe 50 would be great, the 2 years training restriction is a tad bit over the standard and mostly in the kpop industry debuts trainee who have less than a year training. But the video idea was overall great esp the mentors
So I like the idea of 5-2-2, but I think the contestant ratio should be the same. The way you have it is 4-2-2, meaning that Koreans have a slight advantage. This could be easily fixed by adding 5 more Koreans and making it a total of 45 contestants, which is still less than half of the original show’s pool. Also, I’m not really sure about the whole star thing. It seems weird that a group can do badly in a 12 star mission and still get the same amount of stars as a group who does exceptionally with a 3 star mission. It seems like the reward is much bigger than the risk. I think the most fair way to do it would be to give each group an equivalent challenge (whether it be exactly the same or just the same difficulty level), and give them the same reward if they end up performing well.
this was INCREDIBLE. the thought behind each element being altered, the editing (the editing!!!), the examples…wow. so looking forward to watching more of ur vids!
the voting/elimination process by the judges is very interesting to me bc seems like the perfect way for the survival show program to rig the results lmao. they can say that the 'judges' chose these contestants to be eliminated but they were chosen by the pd/executives so that they dont make it through the next round. this is a great video btw! after watching boys planet ive also thought the same thing- 'if i created a survival show what would i do...' I love the idea of having an all female, veteran cast as the mentors and the planet clash idea would be so fun~! it would be a great opportunity for contestants to showcase their other talents/ creativity skills
the same thing happened to ioi! pd101 originally didn't do well and the group wasn't the best, but the groups after it (wanna one, x1, iz*one) did WAYYY better
This video is PERFECT, everything that need to be explain has been explained, the system is 10x better than Mnet, the editing is everything. Cheryl slayed again ig 😻
I think something to add to the mentors have some idols from each of the countries to help with a possible language barrier or make another entrance qualification of speaking atleast semi-fluent korean
I would've liked to see some 1 vs. 1 battle. Like 1 rapper vs. another one, same with dancing and vocal. Just a fun activity to get some extra points, or just to show people their skills a bit more. I think it would have shown the creativity and improvisation they were able to do. I know there was something like that with the dancing part, but I would've liked to see their talent in a higher level and concentration
I’ve only watched up to the criteria section but too far it sounds really cool! And I really you don’t mind, but I have some questions! I know you aren’t actually making a show or anything but I'm curious! So you said that traines should have a minimum of 2 years of training! And I totally agree but I’m curious as to what constitutes to training? Like would it have to be kpop training under a company specifically? Or could it also be a trainee who’s also just taken dance and vocal classes for 2 years? Also, if it is kpop training, would individual trainees be welcomed? Like let's say they used to be in a company but then left and applied to the show, would they fit the criteria? My apologies if you mentioned not wanting questions later on in the video, I just wanted to say my thoughts before I forgot! Don’t feel pressured to answer tho! :DDD
In Planet Clash mission, I think instead of splitting into groups by nationality, it should still mix. Why? Because the thing you mentioned about bonus votes does absolutely nothing when you consider that people of the same nationality are competing against each other, so all of them gaining the same number of bonus votes doesn't change the situation.
I am unsure if you watched all of Boy's Planet but I'd be interested to see how you feel regarding the way the show was set up and the final line up. I've seen the general consensus towards the show as be way more positive than Girl's Planet and people generally like the lineup except two people who had a mild pushback. Also definitely agree with the mentor/judge thing because even if they don't realize it people will be partial towards the contestant they like the most, so having a relatively unbiased judge judge the contestants is more similar to how the general public would react. Heavily agree on the center thing too. If anyone is interested in my judgement over the final lineup let me just say I am extremely happy Gunwook made it in. It was kinda obvious who was going to make it but I genuinely think Gunwook has the potential to be the next big thing due to his all rounder capabilities. He is extremely skilled in dancing, singing, rapping, and he composes his lyrics. So many people don't understand just how skilled he is because Boy's Planet only really highlighted his dancing. Like that boy is insane. If people all saw his Wild Idol clips they would agree. Give it 3 years and mark my words he could be a more dance-centered WOODZ if he picks up song composition. Plus he's only 18 and there are no worries about a bullying scandal considering he was the school president and vice president throughout all of junior and high school.
i really do appreciate how you chose to do the elimination process because i agree that it seems most fair because i can't even count the number of times i've seen or heard about a group of fans essentially boycotting certain trainees on survival shows just due to the fact that they don't like them. and the "no touch zone" is a nice addition especially after all the times in gp999 when a high ranking trainee would get eliminated seemingly out of nowhere (*cough* yurina and su ruiqi *cough*)
i didn’t know i needed girl’s planet 999 (cheryl’s version) but i am here sitting down and consuming every second of it just as i guiltily did for the og one

I'd be fine with just one change: Do NOT accept trainees that you don't want in your group ffs. I'm sick of the evil editing, the mind games, the riggory, the manipulation.
10000% agree.
with only 40 total contestants instead of 99 Mnet could actually do this
I wished they covered a Chinese or a Japanese song so it’s fair for all the contestants.
Yes, like they did in pd48
Me too
But this is kpop, they need to sing in korean once they debut so they should sing in korean for the show missions too.
It's actually really cool to see Solji as a vocal mentor because before she was in EXID, she was their vocal coach.

Daeul was a sad joke though...poor kid sure he was only a trainee for a few months but he was a victim of mnet evil editing...

@@WitnessEra a job is needed

Actually the mentors commented that they actually do help the trainees out its just that mnet chooses not to air those moments. They want drama for the ratings I guess.
Park Hanbin was THE mentor of Boys Planet lol
Hui was the best ❤ I miss him so much
If you can pull of Scream by DC, and I mean PULL IT OFF, you deserve to debut, at least somewhere.
Also giselle
As someone who have made multiple little survival shows for fictional groups I really enjoyed how you made all of this

jiwoo as a stage presence mentor is such a good idea omg.
As a newbie Stay I hate how people have just taken his words and ran with it. And what they are writing on Wonyoung’s comments 😔😔 they definitely do not represent Stays. How people can be filled with so much hate just confuses me.

These are my thoughts about this program :
(English is not my first language, there may be mistakes, I apologize for them from now on)
1)If the program was like this, we would have seen idols (after they debut) with much more experience.
5)Performing the songs of previous generations through survival shows is genius and also important, it makes the program more K-Pop (I don't know how to explain this but I hope you got my point )
6)The number of Korean, Chinese and Japanese trainees is very logical.
7)All the tasks are wonderful and prove the talent of the idol. Which line(rap line, vocal line or dance line) would it be if it was debuted in the group (and There are no useless members)
8)The voting system is accurate and fair , there are equal opportunities for all trainees, all they have to do is give everything they have,
9) the examples of the coaches are great, we really need real coaches, we don't need meaningless reactions,
10) the elimination system is very genius,
final thoughts:
this program is perfectly competitive, and At the same time, all that the trainee must do is show there talent with confidence.
This like what about the individuals that are self trained or aren't with a company.
If Girl's Planet had gone the same way as Boy's Planet, we would have a slightly different line up
I think at this point it has become a trope for survival shows to be more strict and professionl for boys and less for girls idk why this happens but you are debuting as an idol so everything should be equal
I agree! I really hope that girls planet 2 will be exactly like boys planet 😍
@@nct4867 i doubt it tho bcz the criteria and judgement level for girls is not as hard as compared to boys
Especially since the contestants in the 10th-12th spots in the finale were some of the stan attractors of the season, especially internationally.

i was all in until the planet clash. i think the saddest part of girls and boys planet was separating the groups, so doing it right at the end when friendships have been formed already would make it even more noticeable. the structure of the challenge seems overly complicated but im sure that a production team could simplify the explanation and streamline it, and its not like produce shows havent pulled weird ass stuff before

Love the mentors you chose.
In general, love the reconstruction you gave to Girls Planet
Ty for the sweet responses in the live chat 💙 apologies for it being so late.
edit: y'all are so kind in the comments about my editing. tytysm!!
Dw Cheryl! I hope you're doing well, and thank you for the video! Can't wait for the next one!🍃🌸✨️
Hi cheryl I have a question for the planet clash mission so is there 2 overall planents? like 1+1=2 k groups and same for the other group
As we have seen with multiple produce/survival groups, when more BTS content comes out, people are more willing to vote for or realize how amazing certain contestants are.
to add to vocal mentors, i think a really good choice is Bora of Cherry Bullet! shes been through the show and could totally sympathize with the members. we also saw she was an amazing leader during the show and could lead the people on the survival show without being overly mean
also a dreamcatcher bside wouldve been nice :( but thats just me being biased
anyway someone get her a survival show IMMEDIATELY
I know that nobody is reading this, but I've been rewatching this video and want to say it anyway
One change I would make to the elimination process is that instead of the judges choosing who to eliminate, they choose who to save, and the people that aren't saved are eliminated. It's the same process, really, but to the fans, it looks less like a direct attempt to sabotage their faves and more of an attempt to save their other faves.
Ok, so I’ll try to recap what I remember. It would be great if anyone can let me know if I made a mistake
-mentors and judges are completely separated
-contestants have to be 16+ and have 2+ years of training experience
-the ratio for each nationality in the final lineup is fixed (5 Koreans, 2 Japanese, 2 Chinese)
-stage presence mentors pick the center, and fan votes determine the face of the group
-here’s how the elimination works:
1.a. In the first mission, each contest chooses which strength she wants to showcase (vocal/rap/dance), and joins the respective group for that.
1.b. No one gets eliminated after the first mission. But judges pick their top9
2.a. In the second mission, the top9 contestants are split (8 and 9 stay together) and choose their groups (8 groups of 5)
2.b. The mission’s theme is a concept battle. For each concept, there are two teams that perform one song each. These two team compete against each other, and the winning team has advantages in the elimination process.
2.c. Two Korean girls, one Japanese girl, and one Chinese girl get eliminated by fans through votes.
2.d. Afterwards, judges get to eliminate the same number of contestants, but they can’t eliminate the “no touch” contestants (the top x number of contestants for each nationality according to fan votes)
5.b. Judges pick the bside, and fans pick the 2nd gen songs
5.c. Mentors join the 2nd gen song performances
5.d. The best bside performing team gets exempted from elimination. The same goes for the best 2nd gen song performing team. Fan votes will exempt a few contestants from elimination as well (those with the most votes)
Ahh nevermind i just watch it back it through the fan elimination(vote) most top 5 from 11 left contestants
@@Princess_Liliana_Cynthia each individual fan basically votes for their own personal top4, but all 15 contestants receive votes. And it’s basically the 9 contestants with the most votes that are included in the final lineup
Bravo ! MNET should employ you or buy your ideas for the next season of survival show. Well done !
PETITION FOR EVERGLOW-UP TO MAKE HER OWN REAL SURVIVAL SHOW:
i love how the mentors in this improved version actually HELP the trainess and not just judge them knowing they are just rookies omg i always hate that
In my opinion, here are the idols that I think would work well as mentors (I’m not dividing them based on specialties as I think their knowledge extends to more than one thing). Also, I’m basing this off of idols that I think have shown good communication skills in teaching others:
BoA, CL, Taeyeon, Hyo, Jessica, HyunA, Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, Jihyo, Momo, Wendy, Solar, Moonbyul, Hwasa, Seungyeon, Chung Ha, LE, Solji, Yeji, Soyeon, Bibi, AleXa, Youha
Also, I know that you weren’t a fan of how Sunmi and Tiffany handled being mentors.
*The elimination mechanics was BRILLIANT.*
I initially thought I wanted an elimination where the judges (same as you I'd prefer it if the judges and mentor are separate so there would be no bias) will score the trainees based on their missions and the least ranking people would be subject for elimination - what the fans can then do is vote for the contestants they wanna save.
Idk.
*For the limit of 2 years training experience:*
I'm not too sure - there could be independent trainees (who haven't gone on training under a company at all) that are very talented like kim jaehwan (wanna one's main vocalist).
This was a great video! Sorry my comment is pretty long... I got too invested. As usual you put a lot of thought in your vids, it's amazing
@@goodietwoshoes7238 don't apologize, I loved your opinions!! 💙
@@everglowup omg got noticed 🤧 seriously though mnet or any other survival shows should really consider your ideas, it's too good and very well planned 😭
Someone better give Cheryl a show contract so she can make this happen 😁😁
“No b**ch was the performance good or not!” - couldn’t have said it better myself 😂 👍🏽
i like this set up! it's very interesting. the one thing i'd change tho is for mission 3, i'd have one of the korean groups work with the c-girls and the other korean group to work with the j-girls. even though they're doing separate songs, because their points add up together they'll need to discuss and coordinate among themselves to find a strategy that works for everyone. it'd disadvantage the C/J girls who'll have a language barrier and they won't be able to strategize and work together the way the korean girls will.
splitting the k-girls so that one team earns points with J and the other with C, will mean all of them will have varying levels of language difficulties and have to overcome that to strategize and make sure both teams win the most amount of stars
i dont see an issue with trainees using these shows as experience, especially when there are a lot of contestants that quickly go home. its always good to get more experience performing in front of a crowd and a trainee probably doesnt get a lot of that. i like how my teenage girl did it, where everyone got a chance to perform and get feedback but there was the core group that was taken to be the survival contestants
I usually don't watch long K-pop videos, but oh my goodness, everything about the video, from the editing to the rearrangement of the competition, is absolutely amazing!🙌 I hope MNET producers take note of your fantastic ideas and start coming up with similar ones. Keep up the great work!😁
Justice for Yurina and the Chinese girls!
The thing that ALWAYS bothered me when I watched the produce series was the amount of participants and their lack of screentime...
that's why maybe I enjoyed iland way more because I could actually remember all of them and get to know them more.... although I'm not saying iland was a flawless show don't get me wrong hahaha
aaand I don't really watch survival shows anymore they are to stressful for me hahaha
The editing is a bit too fine there, Cheryl. Also my heart is crying cuz I really miss Yaning RuiQi and Yurina on stage
You explained in this video what the format of everything would ect. but have you thought of like the fillers? like the side 'fun' activities in between missions that would let us get to know the trainees better? would love to hear you opinion on that....
(this is my second comment hahah)
I loved the Concept Mission idea so much that I decided to do something fun. I took the concepts and songs that Cheryl came up with and I put the top 40 gp999 contestants into teams of 5 (so we could all imagine the show actually went down like this). Here’s what I came up with:
Team Dumhdurum:
Kang Yeseo
Lee Hyewon
May
Chen Hsinwei
Kim Chaehyun
Team Unnatural:
Kim Bora
Nonaka Shana
Kubo Reina
Kawaguchi Yurina
Xu Ziyin
Team Monster:
Shen Xiaoting
Sakamoto Mashiro
Zhou Xinyu
Huh Jiwon
Liang Jiao
Team Scream:
Fu Yaning
Su Ruiqi
Cai Bing
Yoon Jia
An Jeongmin
Team Get It:
Choi Yeyoung
Ezaki Hikaru
Seo Youngeun
Jeong Jiyoon
You Dayeon
Team LATATA:
Kim Suyeon
Kamimoto Kotone
Wen Zhe
Kim Doah
Kim Hyerim
Team I Can’t Stop Me:
Huening Bahiyyih
Kim Dayeon
Kim Sein
Guinn Myah
Lee Chaeyun
Team LA DI DA:
Choi Yujin
Nagai Manami
Huang Xingqiao
Ikema Ruan
Kishida Ririka
Feel free to reply with your own groups below (or who you think would win these matchups).
i really like when people try to create a more ideal survival show! i think most of your suggestions in terms of the voting/elimination process and missions sound fun and should be put out. however i think the contestant criterion should add the requirement of fluency in korean for foreign trainees. it's normal to ask for language fluency when you apply for jobs overseas, plus being good at korean would reduce the chance of getting evil editing because mnet obviously did not give them the things they promised. while i don't necessarily want all trainees to speak korean as if it were their native language, it would be better for them to be able to engage in daily conversation. i saw some people wanting to reduce the required trainee period, and i think it should be dependent on the performance and information on the company through casting calls. survival shows are oftentimes a big opportunity for those who want to make it big, do not have a clear future plan due to company's difficulties or idols in need of a second chance. it's up to the casting crew to take those factors into consideration so i think the requirement of training period should be flexible.
overall, sounds cool on paper, but i'm not sure mnet is going to do just that.. maybe the first of the first step we should take is to find a broadcast company which has good intention and would do the show for the pure purpose of producing a good one.
Omg I love this change for GP999, also you editing has become insane, the planets in the transition scene look so cool
i think this is a very good well planned out idea i love this vid. the only thing i disagree with is probably the training years. i agree not joining survival shows solely for experience but 2 years is a LOONG time and some people are truly capable of being as good as other idols with less than a year
This was honestly such a well crafted Survival Show.
Thanks for your hard work 💜 😊
صراحه مررررررررر حبيت الفديو و الافكار و صراحه اتمنى تتبق و مررررررر حبيبت الفكره الإقصاء و اتمنى انت تتشتغلين في شركة mnit تستحقين تكوني المدير
seungyeon as mentor will be the chef kiss
youre soo creative i loved this.. personally i'd keep the connect mission as the first one bc of how it's a general introduction of what's like being an idol (which is why trainees get nervous and everything) and because if it was the other way round i fear there would be cases of those who only can dance but sing poorly, etc and an idol cant always be in their comfort zone
A great video! I especially love the idea of mentors and judges being separate!
I feel like that's setting the bar of entry too high.
this was actually very good period. i love how well analysed this was, organised, a voting system that makes sense. judges and mentors actually coming into play, and the choice of missions. and let's not even talk about the editing cuz it actually devoured, and serve whatever it had to.
out of context but i see myself as a bigger star creator then a planet guardian, so i really hope in the near future we could maybe see you re-do boys planet aswell, cuz damn wasnt that messy too😧
i would just like to appreciate the insane amount of effort you put into your video. This is what i wish all of ktube was about!!
Omgggg this video must have taken so much time to make. I would so watch this!
Bro imagine having to change the lyrics and melody of a song's verses with something the trainees composed themselves for the planet clash mission. I want that to happen
wow!! that is wayy better than the original girls planet , specially the mentors and judges distinctions! keep shining
i would watch this show (even if i have to go through elimination pain again...) also your editing is great btw and i like the choices for the concept missions!
+ i think experience outside of idol training should be taken into consideration too (such as some contestants literally being teachers or professionals) despite their shorter than 2 years actual idol training history. that's just my opinion 😋
gp999 is like a grammy nominated film compared to Fantasy Boys 💀💀
omg this is such a cool idea. mnet has done so many survival shows, and they each had strengths. if they combined the best of all those shows, the results would actually be an enjoyable product lol
I think the most fair way to do it would be to give each group an equivalent challenge (whether it be exactly the same or just the same difficulty level), and give them the same reward if they end up performing well.
this was INCREDIBLE. the thought behind each element being altered, the editing (the editing!!!), the examples…wow. so looking forward to watching more of ur vids!
unrelated but this reminded me how good we fresh's instrumental actually is im never listening to tiktok stans again
the voting/elimination process by the judges is very interesting to me bc seems like the perfect way for the survival show program to rig the results lmao. they can say that the 'judges' chose these contestants to be eliminated but they were chosen by the pd/executives so that they dont make it through the next round.
this is a great video btw! after watching boys planet ive also thought the same thing- 'if i created a survival show what would i do...' I love the idea of having an all female, veteran cast as the mentors and the planet clash idea would be so fun~! it would be a great opportunity for contestants to showcase their other talents/ creativity skills
this video is so well made that I now actually want to see this specific of girls' planet in action.
the same thing happened to ioi! pd101 originally didn't do well and the group wasn't the best, but the groups after it (wanna one, x1, iz*one) did WAYYY better
Did izone do good?
Kudos to the effort and research you put in for this.
:DDD
your mentors would be insaneee, they would make such an amazing mentor group oml
