in my opinion, kep1er was doomed even before they debuted. with all the favoritism and mistreatment going on in girls planet 999, fans had already chosen who they hated and who they liked, who they wanted to debut and who they would beat to the ground. and then the rigging scandal came, which we've seen caused X1 to disband in the past. overall, the group didn't have a good foundation or origin.
plus wakeone is not satisfied with the line up so they are doing bare minimum... like I don't think I've seen any of kep1 members going solo to reality shows to promote...
@@ncteno YES, also if they went with MVSK type of sound that sounds futuristic to me, they could connect it with that whole space concept very easly, but here we are with the sound everyone was already complaining about one/two years ago..
I feel so bad for these girls, they are so talented and worked so hard. It’s frustrating to see their company’s treatment and all the toxicity ruin the group.
Company has always been bad since 2016 and has not changed no matter how many time's they rebranded or merged the management is still same and it will always will be
fr like why would you bring them in in the first place then,, same thing with produce 48 lol, they saw japanese trainees improving more and was like haha nope
Most of all I feel bad for Yujin, she was arguably one of the best dancers in CLC, and the disparity of her talent from everyone else due to her experience was enormous. From just her initial first opening performance in GP999, she was set to be a finalist, no questions asked. I'm just shocked that Kepler's management isn't banking on the fact that she was a member of a somewhat popular group from CUBE of all places, not a nugu company. Other groups like IVE/Le Sserafim are showcasing members that were in previously popular groups, which does help them create hype for the group. Kepler's management is not fully utilizing Yujin's experience and it's really sad to watch her not being showcased.
I agree so much. Their management is really bad, and that's just sad. I don't notice Yujin at all, she doesn't have catchy lines or dance breaks, all her talent and popularity are going to waste. And didn't Bahi got the second place? She has a huge fanbase, you can use it! Instead I only see complains from her fans about mistreatment and tiny parts in songs. Even if she was an atrocious singer (and she's not), you can just give her center time or something. But no. They clearly have no idea what to do with this group, and that's a problem
@@argentums8410 They seriously need to give her a dance break. She was the 2nd or 3rd best dancer in CLC, and CLC had a dancing monster that was Seungyeon. To be fair... Kepler aside from Chaehyun(and even she is more or less an average vocalist) is technically not that strong vocally, but line distributions can be much more fair. I'm only casually listening just for Yujin, but even then it's not enough for me to care for the group because of their lack of musical identity + management.
@@tianzhonglong3373 Why would they give her dance break when Kepler has like 4-5 dancers who are better than Yujin ? Yujin needs to go on korean variety shows and needs to be promoted there.
@@argentums8410 I think Bahiyhay only got 2nd cuz txt fans mass voted. I know that subject is sour to the group but she does not seem at all popular with the fans themselves. She is always the only member to get no fan gifts at fan meets among other stuff.
@@ayeon5609 Hikaru and Xiaoting from what I've seen are good, but who else is there? I think Yujin certainly holds her own and has a spot as a dancer, but I also haven't seen enough of Kepler dancing individually.
Imagine if they continued their title tracks with sound and concept similar to MVSK: elegant yet dynamic, posh yet powerful. And I think all of the members suit that concept too. This is only my opinion, but the concepts they tried on their title tracks does not suit all the girls, only some.
I agree with you it seems like the General Opinion of Kep1er’s fans and non-fans felt that MSVK really suited them. I think Up! was a concept and song that suited all of the members too. I think songs like wa da da and we fresh don’t really highlight all of the members equally. Some of the members in this type of concept (I guess girl crush) kind of outshine other members. (I hope this makes sense)
@@wonderlucky1912 I really agree with your statement! Wakeone should be able to get all of the members of the group to shine and mvsk's concept is able to highlight every member
@@-megaera9628 I will say that Kep1er’s members really try their best with songs like Wa Da Da and We Fresh in their performances. Like I enjoyed watching their We Fresh performances and seeing their dancing skills and intense choreography than I did listening to We Fresh song alone.
Mvsk is their best song and I can't believe how they shove it under the rug that much, it should have been a title track. They could have taken the space concept with more of a retro-disco approach and it would have actually been surprising and original but wadada was so disappointing.
This is the first 4th gen group I've seen that sells fewer albums every comeback. The growth is genuinely nonexistent, heck, they're even losing fans without serious controversies
Company WakeOne always been bad since 2016 and has not changed no matter how many time's they rebranded or merged the management is still same and it will always will be
i think when it comes to sales something to keep in mind is that kep1er had also released a fankit, photobook and a lightstick all before the comeback which once again circles back to the companys poor management. The fan's wallets were drained. The only reason I was able to afford the albums was because i skipped on the fankit and photobook.
I think the biggest problem with Kep1er is both the company and the fandom (ofc there are other issues but these are the main ones). Their company is constantly holding them back and the main reason why they don't have their own "sound" yet. When it comes to the fandom the toxicity of kep1ians is INSANE with all the solo stans and the hate against some of the members (mainly Hiyyih and Dayeon)
I had high hopes after Iz*One. But where Iz*One had a strong identity, unique consistent theme and sound, it feels like Kep1er is just all over the place. A complete lack of artistic vision and consistency.
their music got boring after a while though because they did the same concept over and over again. at least with kep1er you get something different every time
Izone felt like a planned group, they had plans for them the whole 2.5 years that they promoted. Gp999 was more like a gunnie pig to test the water and it show they have some hope. Jus watch for boys planet they will double there investment their.
@@victoriab98 nah izone’s music was consistently good up until their disbandment, and all their mvs have distinct concepts despite a common overarching theme. They’re one of the few groups who managed to stick to their identity while still keeping it different and not boring every time. Lovelyz was a group that seemingly had a similar concept to Izone but was actually boring lol. Izone is definitely not boring
To be fair, it would have been hard to top Iz*One. The group was solid, had vision and was overall great with amazing chemistry (even counting the 2 rigged places). Mnet needed to manipulate the audience heavily to create Kep1er and still had 0 vision for them.
I don’t know if someone else noticed it, but if mnet creates a survival show they firstly made the female version and THEN the male. It’s like they use female trainees as experiment mice to look if the show will be sucessful or not.
Well, yes. They use girls to test the waters and for eye candy mostly. If the final group does really well then that's a bonus. Then they know they can rule with the male version. They use boys to gain more momentum, views, and as eye candy. These final groups are definitely going to be popular anyway since they are dudes so they will make even more money. It's kind of like Mnet wants to do a boy survival show from the start but in order to test everything they first do a girl version. Then they always announce the boy version.
But u know it’s basically produce 101 under a new name and x1 was the last group so it would be a girl group this time right😂 and not every survival show starts with girls
I've seen this said a lot but I dont really get it? If they had boys planet before girls planet, wouldn't people say that the girls are just an afterthought, that they're sexist for putting the boys first? Idk.
i wonder how they had the NERVE to release we fresh in the same year as hype boy, love dive, fearless ect., 2022 is literally the biggest year for gg after 2016. wtf is mnet thinking
I like Kep1er and I feel so bad for all of the Kep1er’s members right now. Their company Wakeone should have waited for another month for Kep1er to promote We Fresh. *But honestly We Fresh should have not been a title track for their second comeback.* There were other songs in their new Troubleshooter mini album like Dreams, Lion Tamer, or Downtown, *that they could have chosen for a title track if their company wanted to do a comeback in October.* All of the Kep1er members deserve better title tracks.
I feel bad for these girls, they have so much talent and potential but look what happened to them. Especially to Yujin, while yes she is experiencing what she didn't experience at CLC, the promotion of their group and music still sucks. I am just hoping that the girls have a better future. Edit: To prevent misunderstanding, what I meant in "the promotion of their group and music still sucks" means their promotion for both aspects sucks, not the music.
I hope at least that kep1er will eventually serve as what a temporary group is meant to, as a jumping step for them into a bigger opportunity. Most of the girls are really talented and deserve a spot in a group with a consistent concept and a solid discography. As for Yujin I think she could go solo if she had enough support.
Mnet rigged the votes by not only evil editing but also making the votes from Korean fans worth more than the international fans' votes. I remember seeing comparisons between the actual final lineup and the final lineup without the bonus votes. Tbh, kep1er would've been considered as a real global group if mnet never did what they did.
@@mr.a9696 Well, to me, it is. Why did mnet consistently make the c trainees look bad? Why did they multiply the Korean votes for the final? Mnet does anything they can to get the final lineup they want.
@@inserthandlename7 the rigging is the evil editing, I agree. But the votes were true, it's been that way from the start - 50% Korean, 50% International - they didn't "multiply" the Korean votes in an instance since (again) they were transparent that it's going to be 50% Koreans - cause it's a Kpop group, they need the group to be popular to the GP if possible.
@@mr.a9696 nah that's just bad marketing. I would've absolutely hated that voting system. It's legit not equal at all. Should've just had Knets vote and call it a day
@@maybemablemaples2144 this is what they did with Produce groups. like even in Izone, although there were Japanese contestants, all the votes would be by Koreans only (and then ofc, Mnet rigged two members in the end). I like how Twice was formed - talented members (ranking) + producer's pick + fanvote from Koreans. That way everyone is looking at the whole group instead of just random bias trainee.
I just think Wake Up doesn't care for each member equally AT ALL. I know Dayeon has been their trainee for a while and she's good at what she does but... There are 8 other girls with talent... This and the fact that they are always ignoring some of the most popular members (Hiyyih, Xiaoting) by giving them nothing... Like Xiaoting anniversary Vlive was EMPTY. No balloons, she was alone, in a little white room, no food, no presents, nothing.
@@martinhoDKB When I said "their trainee" it wasn't like "she's part of Wake One" it was more of a "she was a first pick even before starting" sorry, english isn't my first language
@@dallunatic oh ok sorry but she was in Produce 48 and mnet did not care about her at all the only reason they started caring about her is only cause she was a center in k group THAT'S ALL
It would be interesting to see a big survival show like this where trainees are competing for specific roles, I.e. main rapper, vocalist, dancer, etc. and they aren’t necessarily in competition with each other but with the people going for their specific skill. Then the resulting group could be like … the highest ranked trainee in that skill sets gets to be main, second lead, third sub etc etc. You could even have a week where everyone has to try on a different skill than the one they auditioned with to see if any unexpected skills show up (like how Manami did pretty well with rapping … still sad she didn’t make Kep1er wahhh) and they can decide to switch to that group if they want. High risk but potentially high reward because viewers will remember you. Obviously this could lead to all kinds of fandom craziness. Like god forbid the lead vocalist gets more lines than the main for a comeback. But it might help make the resulting group feel more cohesive? Maybe? Idk hire me Mnet!
A possible problem this format might have is that you might end up with a group of highly specialized individuals. Some groups might benefit from an ace or jack of all trades who aren't necessarily "the best". These members might not be the strongest singers or dancers, but they can hold a group together. Evaluating stage presence and leadership also requires more considerations. If we simply have the best singers/dancers/rappers, idols like Wonyoung or Sakura might not have debuted. Objectively they weren't the best in their group at certain skills, but they are undoubtedly bursting with charisma and boosted the group's popularity.
The idea I had would be that, even if its televised, everything is decided by proffessional judges until the last stage. My idea is: idol judges team up with other 5/6 judges, and each judge picks like 4/5 trainees. These trainees are their protegés of sorts, picked bcs there’s something about them that the idol is good at and can teach them more, or maybe the idol is just their overall mentor but trainees have different teachers idk. So with every round, the judges eliminate one of their trainees, so the group ends up with 6/7 trainees by the final where they present a new song and choreography and maybe do a week of promotions so the public can really feel them. Then, its up to the public which group truly debuts and which doesn’t. Its a system similar to The Voice, but with groups. 💀
Yujin is living her nightmare twice : in CLC they lost fans because of mismanagement and too drastic comeback changes. The same exact thing is happening in Kep1er. I can't even stan them properly now.
I would like to add BDC to the 4th gen groups doing space concepts because they’re wicked underrated 🌙 Oh, and this all AFTER WJSN had been making space concepts their thing for half of a decade 💫
I think Kep1er is testament to how the produce format doesn’t actually work and that you can’t trust an audience to make a good functioning group. Although Mnet was doing themselves no favors with that one pick voting system, like I know they didn’t want Xiaoting to be the center, but what did they think was going to happen????? And they’re company isn’t doing them any favors either, with their inconsistent concepts both musically and visually, not great songs overall, and putting them on queendom for some reason. Also where did their space concept go???? I actually liked their astronomy influences and I wish they kept them. Anyway I feel really bad for the girls and hope they come out of this group okay. The only thing that gives me hope for this group is Xiaoting becoming more like the center every comeback and we all know she can eat up a center position
Nah I.o.I wasn’t rigged and still were the best group coming from an mnet survival show so that point isn’t valid it’s just that they were focusing on the wrong girls this season
@@ClubPuguin the final lineup of i.o.i wasn’t rigged. i think like only 2 trainees were eliminated unfairly. pds2, 48, and x101, all had their final line up rigged.
One of the weirdest things abt having Kep1er on Queendom2 was the fact that they had the girls directly address the fact that they were a nepotism pick. Like there was a full 10-15min where they talked abt the hate comments they had received and how they wanted to prove that they were there because they’re Kep1er and Kep1er are talented not because they’re the daughters of mnet but it’s like the members themselves didn’t even fully believe that while they were saying it. IQueendom2 was just bad for them overall honestly. I’m sure the members weren’t thrilled about placing so low and they were also probably more than exhausted. There was not enough being invested into their stages for them to stand out either. I hope they get more time to rest in the future. It’s so early in most of the member’s careers and I worry they will experience burnout as a result of wakeone/mnet’s exploitative decisions
Yeah that part was so awkward and weird. They should've just not mentioned it, because no matter how much mnet said it was bc they believed in Kep1er and their skills it's not going to sound genuine.
Tbh the members I feel the worst for are Yujin and Bahiyyih. Yujin said, multiple times, that she wanted to show other sides of herself beyond the more girl crush concepts that CLC was doing in their later years, and aside from Up!, she hasn't really had that chance, has she? Bahiyyih has it even worse imo bc everyone still treats her as "Huening Kai's little sister" and Mnet isn't giving her a chance to step out of his shadow.
I think they want her to stay that way since she is controversial. She literally hasn’t done anything wrong and she has amazing stage presence, they just keep her in the back and give her two lines. They want people to keep talking about her this certain way which sucks.
yeah wakeone have really been trying to scrape by with promoting hiyyih as kai’s sister instead of letting her have her own identity. i don’t even think they wanted her in the debut lineup, only wanted her in the show for views or whatever and now they just use her for clout. i feel bad for the other members too like yujin, im sure they would all do way better in literally any other company. i swear sometimes i feel like half of kep1ler gets treated as background dancers by w1 but that might just be me since i haven’t listened to many of their bsides lmao ;; wakeone is horrible at managing groups and idols though :(
Before I watch the video, I do want to share my opinion on kep1er: I personally feel like kep1er hasn't established their own 'sound' . Like look at iz*one or lesserafim or twice or everglow. All of their individual comebacks have a certain charm to it that suits their style as a group. What does kep1er have? Wadada, up and we fresh. I feel like their company doesn't really care about giving them an identity as a group. Not to mention, their company doesn't utilise the groups members for example, members like youngeun, bahiyyih, mashing and yeseo could go on variety shows, the group has an insane dance line, they could post dance covers or self made choreo videos since dayeon can choreograph as seen in gp999 chaehyun and youngeun could post vocal covers, yujin could mc (idk if she has already but anyways im trying to prove a point). These would all showcase the groups individual talents and bring more notoriety to the group. But no, what does wakeone do? Shove them in a basement only to be released every two or three months to release some mediocre comeback with a few bsides and shoves them back in again. It's honestly sad that they're being so underutilised it's not even funny. I really feel bad for the members especially yujin, this was her last chance and looks what's happening to the group she's in now Ps. Not to mention the solo stanning in this group is insane especially with certain members Okay now onto watch the video, I always love hearing your opinions on anything kpop related
Even worse, they are a temporary group, it's been a year and they don't have a sound yet. That's a disaster. They aren't a seven year group, they don have time to be "figuring" out their sound. Wake One sucks 😔
I think Kep1er is a perfect example of mismanagement. Mnet doesn't have any idea in which direction they want the group to go and they are trying everything to see what sticks. Look at the other girls groups who are competing for ROTY at the 2022 MAMA. Le Sserafim, New Jeans, Ive, NMIXX, they all debuted with very specific sounds and concepts and that's why they are so successful. I agree 100% Mnet didn't want Bahiyyih, Yujin and probably Mashiro in the group, but for fucks sake, at least they should be able to use their popularity. Yujin's sob story can attract a lot of attention. Mashiro was the second most voted contestant on Girls Planet and it was because of her that U+Me charted in Japan. Bahiyyih obviously is super popular, they could have given her a stage with Kai or something. But they focus all their attention on Dayeon who is super talented, but never brought many fans (if they had counted international votes, she wouldn't have been in the Top9 to debut). Xiaoting went viral for her ballroom competition. Hikaru's purr fancam went viral. And Mnet couldn't use any of that. Wa Da Da was successful. The dance went viral on TikTok, so they could have tried to recreate something like that. Going viral on TikTok is a golden ticket nowadays (look at Darari, Polaroid Love and Hype Boy), so they could have focused on making dances for TikTok. Mnet knew that half of K-pop was going to have a comeback in October (and there were still songs from august and september going strong) and STILL they had Kep1er having a comeback in October instead of November when no one is doing anything. The only chance to a music show win was on The Show, and they were still beaten by not only Dreamcatcher but also DKZ. We Fresh was a disaster. Not to mention how little the promote in Japan and how they ignore China. I understand Korea's relationship with China sucks, but what's the point of having 33 Chinese contestants if you don't intend to promote in China? Being only midly successful in China would still make you much more money than in Korea, just look at Jackson. Why can't they try that?
That’s what leaves me in disbelief: they use Hiyyih but not Yujin. Neither option would be good, but you’d think they’d prefer to appeal to the BIG fandom of a just dissolved group (CLC) instead of pissing off a medium sized over protective fandom (Hiyyihlights).
I was disappointed in We Fresh not winning any awards and diminished views in comparison to their previous releases. I put the blame on W1 and everything. The girls did their best and give it a lot without much rest. Not sure what will happen next with Kep1er and their next cb but I am also seeing a downward trend with them and it sucks.
@@CallMeAuranna girl wtf is you talking abt? hiyyih has a way bigger individual fanbase that yujin. and how is hiyyih getting promoted more than yujin? her promotion is arguably worse
@@kenny9487 I hope they can gain the momentum back. They just need to comeback when there are less groups around and have a viral tiktok dance. I think it's not impossible, but Wake One needs to wake up lol
they cant promote in china. china's government is heavily against kpop and during gp999 they passed a new law banning idol culture (likely why they suddenly slighted all the C-trainees). promoting in china is not an option sadly, or aespa wouldve had a chinese debut already (theyre REALLY popular there)
Everyone who were already into K-pop since 2016 understands how popular I.O.I was. They were like one of the big 3 girl groups then (I.O.I, TWICE and Red Velvet, Blackpink debuted late 2016 so they weren’t really competition to girl groups back then). South Korea and international fans absolutely loved I.O.I, and especially the dances of Pick Me and Very Very Very were done by a lot of artists on variety shows. I.O.I could’ve been the next top girl group if they were still active.
I honestly think that the fact that mnet couldn't manipulate the votes for gp999 really ended up hurting the group overall. These people plan everything way in advance. When they knew beforehand who was going to be in the final lineup they were able to plan music, concept and a lot more way in advance. I think with gp999, they planned in advance also, according to the lineup they wanted. The problem with that is, there is no way to plan in advance everything because you didn't even know who was going to end up in the final lineup. This means that they had to rely heavily on manipulating the audience through editing. The public was not as gullible, we all realized that they were trying to manipulate us. Let's be real, I would argue that there are at least two girls in that group that mnet didn't want in the final lineup. Therefore, when the final lineup was finally made, they had to rearrange everything and plan a whole new music, theme etc. And with the lack of planning, plus the overdone space theme, we now have the mess that Kepler is in now.
I just wished that they (kep1er) had better music as someone who loves their music i can understand why people don’t like it, the members talents aren’t used to it’s 100% which people can clearly see that-
I agree with you that many of the members are being underutilize in Kepler‘s title track songs. Songs like Wa Da Da and We Fresh have a lot of ad-libs, shouting/chanting. Which are not allowing the members to have any other vocal lines like they do in Kep1er’s b-sides. Kep1er’s company needs to find a song that can suit all of the members, like their b-side MSVK or their first comeback Up! Or their any of their other b-sides.
The issue wasn’t that they weren’t rigged, it’s that Korean votes counted for more. If they made both international and Korean votes equal, the lineup would’ve been way better. Koreans only ever wanted to vote for other Koreans hence why the final lineup is mainly Korean.
No, the votes weren’t rigged but the system in a way was, the way they keep changing up the voting system, gave certain trainees a villainous edit (especially Chinese ones) and made the weight of the votes different depending on nationality is how Mnet attempted to “legally rig” the girls they wanted into the group.
In my opinion, sometimes these shows need rigging. TWICE is proof that survival show rigging can work for the benefit of the group. Fans often don’t know what they actually want any until they get it.
@@ilz_y rigging the show isn’t fair on the trainees that worked their asses off, did the competition fairly and got voted to be in the final lineup only to lose anyway. Imagine things being rigged against you after all your hard work.
@@StanChunghaOrGoHome every trainee works equally hard and it would be unfair on trainees regardless. Put it this way: how unfair would it be for a trainee to work hard only for it to be put to a vote and for them to lose out bc another trainee was “prettier?” That’s how most survival shows go nowadays. Either way, it’s unfair.
Its crazy to me how they had millions of people voting from different parts of the world yet they're not living up to groups like izone and ioi's fame, and if we're being honest this is their like 3rd comeback this year and izone had already been an house hold name when they released their 3rd album.
I think one of the major problems of Kep1er is that mnet doesn’t care in general. Kep1er are their test subjects to see if this new method of manipulation works or not (the result has been fifty fifty) and when that’s achieved? They don’t give af about them anymore. They got what they wanted, now they’ll move on to make another one of these, much better funded and staffed, for the boys. (And watch them treat their precious men with care…)
15:07 EXACTLY. I had already assumed DC and Everglow would be in the lineup. I was also anticipating Cherry Bullet and Rocket Punch(the younger sister groups of AOA and Lovelyz respectively) but why Kep1er?
MVSK and Up were both great songs! If they had stuck to either of those genres (elegant or cute) I feel like the group would have been way more successful
I think your point about the inconsistency l is even worse when you consider Sugar Rush and Wing Wing. Those were also wildly different from the other three title tracks. It also made me concerned for the girls because Up!, Sugar Rush, and Wing Wing were released so close to one another and it felt like Mnet was trying to make up the lost time from Queendom 2, which wouldn’t be a problem if they weren’t on Queendom 2
Hi! Wing Wing was Kep1er’s Japanese debut song along with their b-side Daisy. And Sugar Rush wasn’t an official comeback. It was a song to promote the Universe App. But I have to agree both sounds are different from one another compare to Kep1er’s title tracks. I think their b-sides are a little bit more decent for non-fans compare to their title tracks.
Mnet most likely saw that Xiaoting was the most popular contestant and were like “Omg a chinese contestant is ranking 1st? Unacceptable!” but also realised that if Xiaoting were to have gotten eliminated it would have caused an uproar, so they just barely debuted her at 9th place. Anyways, my personal 9 contestants that should’ve gotten into the group, in no particular order (aside from Xiao and Yurina in 1st and 2nd). - Xiaoting - Yurina - Yujin - Hikaru - Bora - Ruiqi - Yeseo - Yaning - Yeongeun
True, but not totally. I was in 5-6 voting groups of Korea participants at the final round. They all decided to choose 1 C and 1 J to vote, because they still had to vote for all J K C, but no limit of how many C or K or J in top20. If they voted for other C or J, it meant their picks would have been able to be out. Thats why the vote for Xiaoting before 1 pick round was very high. But it decreased in 1 pick round and it was understandable.
Absolutely enjoyed this video lol. The sudden pauses, the editing there and the sassiness damn but I agree with everything you said. I was looking forward a LOT to Kep1er even though most of my picks didnt even make it. Honestly, when they released their first promotional pic, I was pleasantly surprised and expected a fusion of space and cottage core concept (sthing like WJSN but a bit softer). But when Wa Da Da came out, I was so confused and disappointed. My biggest issue with Kep1ers music is how they pass off so many songs filled with onomatopoeia and shouting. There's no stable sound in Kep1er, no precision in concept, no outstanding production either. Even their best b-sides sound like a ripoff from other groups who would do it better. Finally, the group members themselves lack chemistry, MASSIVELY. Like you can have 1-3 members having chemistry with specific members during performances but that's about it. Atp, WAKEONE is only trying to get as much money as they can from them and give them more spotlight rather than focus on their lacking aspects and developing them.
People are not ready to admit their chemistry is horrible! Totally agree. This mix match of members was never gonna work honestly. They made a huge mistake letting people vote
i think mvsk concept definitely highlighted all the members. yes up concept was nice for summer but that is what bsides can be for. i wish they were managed better 😣
I also think a lot of discourse within the fandom definitely doesn't help. It doesn't make people feel like they can belong. Like if your friends are fighting, you don't want to be around them because it makes you uncomfortable. Everyone expects you to pick a side and you're sitting there just confused and wanting to leave the situation. I definitely agree with their lack of sound playing a part. I liked WaDaDa, but I stopped listening after awhile. Up was a step in the right direction... and then we got We Fresh. Not my cup of tea.
So much this. I love Kep1er and their music to death (and don't personally agree with all of these ideas of unoriginality and lack of identity and stuff) And let me tell you. Being a Kep1ian who is positive about Kep1er and support every member gets lonely and discouraging. Like. Couldn't we at least work together as a fandom to hype up our girls??? The fandom is so unwelcoming, I think this is a huge problem with their success.
Also might want to add that other factors of them not succeeding is the fact that the competition for girl groups today is so fierce that you need SOMETHING that makes you stand out and sadly Kep1er doesn't have that factor.
if they sticked with 3K 3J 3C line up people would enjoy the group more. If they didnt make the votes a ratio of 9:1 people wouldn't feel cheated. A lot of trainees that are popular and influencial from gp999 didn't even make. The reason why they flopped (not really but compared to other survival show group, meh) is because their company lacked strategy and consistency, people were expecting a 3:3:3 ratio girl group or a planet pass in the final show. Rui Qi is the most influencial contestant but was thrown off under the bus just because she has less korean votes. I think the group would succeed if they made the group a global group, yes they were flopping on sk but their popularity outside korea were massive, they were famous on different socmed platforms, theres a lot of hype, one thing i noticed about the show is the lack of screentime, the show would just end in less than 2 hours, usually these last for 2 hours as it not only make the viewers hooked but also to show the contestants personality, vibe, etc. but it didn't happen, the show felt so competetive, angry and unfun, theres no personality, no humour, no consistency. Its also frustating how they eliminate contestant people expected 99, 60,30,20, then 9 its just feels too few or too little, and the fact that we can totally see how mentally unstable and stressed the trainees are makes me think the show doesn't deserve all the rating it got. Hope the contestants would have the opportunity to reach success
Hard agree. The one vote right at the end was downright NASTY. Everyone really thought it'd be 3-3-3 and maybe 3 contestants chosen from the trainers... But no...
Agree 100%, I wish more people talked about their failure to make a truly diverse group. I mean, Twice has more foreign members than Kep1er and 16 wasn't even supposed to be an international thing. It's shameful. Also thank you for mentioning Su Ruiqi. I remember when gp999 was airing she was on everyone's top 9's, then Kep1er debuted and everyone forgot about her. Her absence is a big reason I don't follow Kep1er closely, she was the only contestant I voted for who consistently ranked high and I took it for granted that she would debut.
right?? rui qi's international votes were so massive, it such a shame that they're desperate to make a korean trainnee be the center, no offense to chaehyun but i think she would really shine more as the main vocalist rather than center, shes doing a goodjob rn tho
the prerelease of the vote before the last episode was a damage control thing for a problem caused by mnet it self. The structure of the vote is the first thing wrong with show witch caused people to believe their faves were safe and vore for others thus the first messy lineup
@@hueningbahibitch replacing chaehyun is going to make a huge difference tbh. Just because you can reach high notes doesn't make you a great vocalist. Bora lacks proper technique whiles Chaehyun, c'mon, she was an SM trainee. Being trained in SM speaks a lot for Chaehyun.
Dang I feel bad for these girls, I really felt Kep1er was gonna be a disaster because of you know the favoritism etc. Tho they have so much talent and it's just being flushed down the toilet. 😑 Thank you for the video Cheryl! Love you! 💙
WakeOne as a company has always been bad since 2016 and has not changed no matter how many time's they rebranded or merged the management is still same and it will always will be
@@Logan-zl7xi and you know what's even more funny take a look at Class:y made my mbc survival and are under M25 a sub-label of MBK (my top 5 worst companies in the list) and look at them they are only 7 month's old as kpop group and have shown way better musical indenity as a group and promoted so well sure they are not big as much Kep1er but I always see them somewhere and company is not taking any favorites every member is promoted Either as MC HOST or somewhere in competition like there's always something for each one as for Kep1er i hardly see anything from them
I agree with you that mnet didn't want hiyyih and mashiro in the group but for yujin I think that it is 50/50. They clearly want bora in that group so bad because they realized how f*ck up it is that 80% - 90% of the vocals from K group got eliminated in the second round (yeyoung, jeongmin, jiyoon, hyerim). So they tried to push bora so hard since the 3rd round. And I don't think that they 100% want yeseo in that group. For yeseo they just want a maknae for them to work with so they have 2 choices myah and yeseo (they clearly didn't want a maknae position be japanese or chinese) The 2 contestant that I 100% sure that they want in kep1er are yurina and bora. So their expected group could be like Yujin - Leader Chaehyun - Vocal Bora - Vocal Youngeun - Rap / Dance Xiaoting - Visual Dayeon - Vocal / Dance Hikaru - Rap / Dance Yurina - Visual Yeseo or Myah - Maknae
Look, I know a lot will hate me for this but favored members being constantly shoved in my face isn't something I appreciate and is a major turn off for me. I did try to support because I'm a massive CLC fan and really rooted for Yujin, she was my bias. I started loving the contestants as well but I'm still bitter about the most talented chinese contestants being evil edited out. Their debut was okay their songs are okay but I wish they would market the members that are actually popular and people wanna see more of (Bahiyyih, Yujin, Xiaoting, Hikaru) instead of forcing people to like the members they favored.
i ult kep1er (and dayeon is my bias) so hearing you say all these things about them and her is very interesting and i actually agree with 90% of it. as much as i love these girls im slowly starting to hope there disbandment comes quicker so we can see them in their own proper groups (/as solos) (if they want to of course) wherell theyll actually be utilised and treated properly
13:36 Oh My Girl would've disbanded without even tasting some momentous success if not for their participation in Queendom. Shows like Road to Kingdom and Kingdom were the reasons why I decided to check out the music put out by groups like The Boyz and ONF. It's the promotions that matter.
Even though I totally agree that shows like Queendom definetly boosted the participating groups popularity, I don't think that Oh My Girl would have disbanded if they would not have been on the show. Because OMG are not super popular internationally most people don't recognize their actual success. They are a decently popular group domestically. OMG had multiple music show wins and decent/moderate album sales before Queendom, so even though they absolutly are overall not as successful as other 3rd gen girl groups, they did good for themselves. Queendom helped them get more recognition and increased the interest in their upcoming comeback, there is no denying that. But saying they would have disbanded if not for the show is not quite correct in my opinion.
As a Kep1ian, it saddens me that OT8s and solo stans are adding to the disaster of Kep1er's downfall for We Fresh era. It's not only the company screwing them over but some "Kep1ians" are so insufferable that many left the fandom because they can't stand these fanwars. Kep1ian got to be the most embarrassing fandom. They constantly complain about who should of been in the final lineup like move on its been a year. Some Kep1ians are setting the group up for failure, knowing that Wakeone can't promote them properly.
Wakeone is to blame for some of these too. Like they don’t give some members actual lines or promotions although they could. They just focus on one member who isn’t that popular either since they get hated on too. I hope they all get better management with their next group or solos.
I stopped following because everyone was always complaining and having wars about who is the most mistreated. It was always people victimizing the members
i think the concept was kep1er's worst issue, but not because of the space concept but because of they not following it, everglow were literally on a basement and loona in the border of disbandment, even wjsn the queens of this concept are turning into a more mature space-like concept, i think that it would have worked if they stayed with some concept like wadada maybe changing some things, but no, they decided to make their image as a group a mess, and that's why kep1er feels so empty and disfunctional
even with all the scandals, X1 were really gearing up. there was such huge hopes. mnet ruined it all themselves. they couldn’t rig the votes too much anymore so the evil editing and favouritism flew through the roof. poor kepler.
i have the same sentiments as you in wanting the girls to succeed. even if i don’t like the final lineup, i like enough members to want to see the group succeed. wakeone really needs to stick with a sound that resonates with the girls and the audiences. they can’t keep flopping around different concepts cuz it’s just hurting the girls.
I think wanna one is still considered a 3rd gen group, 4th gen started in 2018 and they debuted in late 2017. Also their music is very 3rd gen, in 2017 they were at bts' and exo's level of popularity in korea. Their success was what prompted mnet to make longer contracts with produce groups (iz*one 2.5 years and X1 5 years). I appreciated you talking about them, i feel like new international kpop stans don't understand the impact they had, they are a piece of kpop history despite their short career
14:20 I do want to point out. WakeOne also put TO1 in RTK. All of the other groups on the show all already had reasonable fanbases and experience under their belt. TO1 did not. Wakeone used RTK to give them more exposure since their survival show hadn’t done enough in that sense. I think the same goes for Kep1er. Their success after the survival show was not what the company hoped for or was expecting so they threw them on Queendom, in a hopes of increasing that exposure.
Both groups didn’t gain shit especially to1 who came from a survival show no one heard and they debuted like a month before the show where kep1er I think was a few?
Mnet capitalized of Bayihhih being the sister of Huening Kai but she doesn't want to say it, it was the judge who asked but Mnet editing is dirty with Bayihhih and even in Kep1er when she debuted, the small screentime and line she received, i was shocked and Bayihih hasn't just a beautiful face, she can sings well, she post a cover when we heard her full voice
people try to ignore the fact but mnet had favorites in each season and people they didn’t want in despite their popularity in EVERY season! as someone who ults ioi and izone, i feel like mnet used the members popularity much better during their time. ioi still being popular nowadays despite disbanding in 2017 means something. with kep1er, I feel like wake one is just using them to make money and not to help them grow and become a better group. they don’t appear on ANY big variety shows and the members don’t even get to show their individual charms anywhere else than RUclips. sakura yujin and wonyoung were immediately on other variety shows but in kep1er no one is doing anything. I love them so much and I still have hope that they will use the planet concept to the future. I am still waiting for wake one to find a better concept for kep1er instead of just making sounds ✨
Agree with this. Mnet rigged out Kaeun because she was too sexy - they got members like Yuri and Chaewon rigged in instead of her. And the group was perfect (vocals, dance, visuals, variety - everything). Kep1er, has no rigging, doesn't suit any concepts cause some suit cutesy, others would suit girl crush. In short, the audience doesn't look at the whole group and just chooses fave 😅 I watched Produce and supported the groups (IOI, WannaOne and Izone - I didn't follow X1) so I also watched GP999 but it was such a let down. I was just getting sad every week when vocalists kept getting eliminated. The voters hated all the vocalists lol - they're Kpop idols - they're singers first but all the vocalists are out. Even Bora was like last in the finals (and she was the best leader and vocalist). Chaehyun is not stable although she's the best vocalist in the group. She's also a forgettable center. I don't think they also have a variety members... Kep1er isn't just it. Especially when groups like IVE, Lesserafim and New Jeans are here. It's just a pity. They should have producers pick + audience pick. Get the talented members in! We need vocals, dancers + variety + visuals (Kim Hyerim was my pick - can't believe she got eliminated when she's perfect).
Wang yale is the best vocalist in GP999. Chaehyun is 2nd. There's a big wall between Chae and Bora. Bora is Weak,. Chaehyun is low average. Chaehyun is the reason why Kep1er is not the weakest GG in vocals. Haram, Ningning, Winter, Yunjin, Chaehyun are the members who are average. They are next after Lily and Haewon. Most of the members even main vocalists are Weak. Hikaru, Xiaoting, Hiyyih and Chaehyun are the members who are irreplaceable. If you want good vocalists it's 1.Wang Yale, 3.Jia, 4. Ahn Jeongmin. Talent wise, Kep1er members seated right and just.
They did suit MVSK well tho. It was a sophisticated and futuristic type of song which suited all of them and their concept well. It was different from other space concept groups too.
This is so well done! Might be the first kpop channel I haven't immediately scrolled to the comment section or blanked out on out of boredom. Everything is so well thought out and presented fantastically. And no robo voice too??😭 Subscribed!
i will never understand how they picked kep1er's concept. isn't the entire point of doing a massive survival show to pick idols who have broad appeal? you don't have to give them eccentric music, you can just do crowd pleasers, because the interest is already there. none of the produce groups had out-there concepts for a reason.
I've noticed it too. Though Everglow up the 2nd one I noticed since I don't follow much Ktubers but even on General Kpop Reddit Kep1er was also talked about with the same topic. The previous video I encountered in RUclips also talked about a similar topic related to Kep1er.
Yes I have seen a couple videos from Ktubers about Kep1er’s company being a mess. And it seems like they cover the same criticisms (Kep1er’s concept, promotions, songs/music/discography, and I seen a couple videos mention the underutilization of the members’s talents.)
Honestly after kep1er disbands i think that very few of their members will have successful careers I mean the point of joining a survival show as an idol is to gain popularity from being in a temporary survival show group and then once that's over go with your popularity and debut in your actual group and ofc the popularity of said member helps the group do well but honestly I think thats only gonna work out for Hiyyih for obvious reasons, xiaotang who has gotten quite popular and is praised for her dancing skills and visuals, I think dayeon has Stans who will support her and for hikaru who has gotten some popularity as well.
Let’s be honest , kep1er doesn’t have a solid Korean fandom which is suuper important since they are promoting mayority of the time in Korea , and they are not very fond with produce style type of shows at the moment . Also most of the hype that ggp 999 had was bc of the international fans and with those two factors you already know why their debut has 100M+ views and their most recent is probably not going to get near that . Reminder that international fans tend to be multi fandom, they are not loyal to one single group like korean fans tend to do, so at some point you have to choose and your not probably going to choose a newly debuted gg with a very questionable origin as your choice when you have other favs competing for the same awards/shows/votes. I feel soo bad for the members because it looks like since predebut they were being set to fail, anyone who wasnt watching the episodes and becoming a fan of ggp999 could see this coming .
I think Wake One or Mnet or whomever are just unable to process the fact that the members aren't the ones they would have picked had they rigged GP999 as hard as previous Produce seasons. Every member has strengths, but whoever is in charge seems blind to these actual talents. Xiaoting won a gold medal at ISAC. Nothing from management. Did she even get a thank you?
Yes I agree with everyone who has been saying that many of Kep1er’s members are being underutilized. So many of the members have many talents that they are unable to show in Kep1er’s title tracks especially.
@@BEcauseILoveYooh there were some girls who were better vocal wise but yes, she was a great leader and ofc talented, i never denied it. she was just.. not popular, sadly
I honestly think fans would've preferred Kep1er to be closer to Izone 2.0. Their title tracks are literally Pristin 2.0, and there are a multitude of reasons the Kep1er members don't all suit that sound. Constantly exploiting Bahiyyih's connection to her brother is further upsetting her fans and feuling the hate train against her. Underutilizing 5/9 members (Mashiro, Yujin, Yeseo, Hiyyih and Xiaoting)... The list goes on. It also baffles me why Dreams was not promoted on music shows alongside We Fresh like MVSK and Le Voyage was. Dreams got a vocal performance on Mnet side show and a full performance with choreography at the Kep1anet fanmeet, and that's it. Dreams is a superior bside that fits multiple members with a better line distribution than the title track. It just proves that W1 _can_ make music that is title track worthy and suits more members. They just choose not too.
Imo, how the group would have turned out if mnet rigged the group again (based only on the final girls cause it would be really difficult to know if they wanted girls eliminated earlier on): Kim Dayeon (duh) Kim Bora Seo Youngeun Kim Chahyun Wen Zhe Shen Xiao Ting Kawaguchi Yurina Ezaki Hikaru And then either Yeseo or Shana im not sure
wakeone should've made the The First Take's version of Wing Wing as a korean title track because that rendition was so so good i come back at least once a week to that video
tbh i genuinely love kep1er and their music even if they don't stick to 1 concept and sound (although i have to agree up! is the best title track and doublast is their best album) so i support them but i do agree the way wakeone and mnet treat them is preventing them from being as big as they should be by now and i'm still pissed about queendom they shouldn't have put the girls through that and it was horrible for promotion
i think a lot of kpop stans are learning about the tragedy of the entertainment industry in real time 💀 but it seriously does fucking suck that talented girls can have their potential wasted by their label's shitty planning. i don't think they're doomed to fail but the company needs to get it together
Bruh the new kids don't even understand that this is actually the best it's been.....2nd gen was rough. I had to stop altogether with how much bs was going on. Groups were dropping like flies in those days 😔
Nope, they never learn and don't wanna to learn. People still watch the shit show and hype about the new group, so company would milk it till dry. I stopped watch any survival shit show after produce 48
@@maybemablemaples2144 even though it's gotten better that doesn't stop us from calling out BS when we see it. most other groups have it better now when it comes to management, unfortunately not Kep1er, so we call it out
ioi was mega successful like when you factor in all the other circumstances like you said it was an experiment, wanna one (literally my ult group) is what ioi could’ve been and eventually iz*one i honestly didn’t follow them as much but their impact speaks for itself, even x1 could’ve been so successful… kep1er i worry… they still sold a million albums during their debut year and maybe we’re being over dramatic but there is a reason they are discussed so much.
I think the major issue is the GP999 wasn’t popular compared to the other produce series, probably due to people being turned off from Mnet survival shows after the scandal. 😅 It’s like the general public was getting tired of the show’s concept…
hey cheryl! I was thinking.. you explained how the rigging for Kep1er was essentially through the manipulation of fans aka. their imfamous evil editing and painting some contestants in a bad light, and I see some people in the comments talking about how it was the companies mismanagement of them, such as the change in sound and such.. so I was thinking it would be interesting to compare the way mnet is using these tactics and their groups are flopping, meanwhile hybe debuted enhypen through their own survival show and also used similar tactics; they had evil editing, caused the members to see eachother as rivals, had solo stans, fanwars and changed their sound drastically (to name a few) but their popularity is skyrocketed, and whilst not particularly growing, is stable enough that the fandom is large enough to be a threat for 3rd gen groups during voting seasons (mama 2022 at the moment for example). I'd love to hear your thoughts on these differences on what hybe did or enhypen did or even the fandom that watched iland did that was different to mnets situation that helped enhypen become a success
I don't really care about the rigging scandal and their solo stans, but when they don't have a particular sound and identity (beside their 'space' concept) I just know it's gonna be disaster. Wake One not even using the space concept properly!
I was honestly surprised at some of the contestants Mnet was pushing compared to the kind of contestants they would push in past Produce seasons. For example, I thought Choi Yeyoung, Lee Sunwoo and Hayashi Fuko would get a lot more of a push as they already had the visuals and skills to debut. I don’t know why people are surprised at the lack of cohesiveness in the group when Mnet was pushing contestants with very different images like Hikaru/Dayeon and Yeseo/Chaehyun (for example) who are suited to very different concepts. I honestly don’t think Mnet had a plan for the group from the start (or it was ditched after the show’s ratings bombed) and this was just an experiment to see if Mnet could still make one of these shows work and build a successful group after the rigging scandal.
although not strategic, I guess the space concept just makes sense for kep1er. their show is called girls planet 999 and they were named after a planet (or an astronomer, I'm not sure), so the space concept was inevitable.
Not to mention that Kep1er had to go up against LOONA and WJSN in queendom 2. The queens of space concepts put up against an unstructured knock-off? Like??? All that did was show how much more capable loona and wjsn are at doing space concepts compared to kep1er. (Like wjsn and loona opened the show with their space concepts) It just made the 2 more popular and left kep1er in the dust. And THEN, unfortunately, kep1er has a comeback at SAME TIME AS LOONA. They were set up for failure.
PTT was space concept? The last time you listened to a LOONA song was in 2017 right? Up! 1 win, Flip That 2 wins. Last Sequence... anything but space concept (and 0 wins). Find your failure ;)
imo, kep1er is the perfect example of what happens when mnet isn’t able to rig any members in. (in that way) kep1er is a group full of people who suit different concepts & different genres. they just don’t go well together. unlike for example iz*one, who all fit the elegant concepts & have different roles to play. kep1er’s concept is like all over the place, i wish they sticked to concepts like mvsk or up. they’re downfall seems like it’s cause they are having an identity crisis. nothing stand outs, they don’t have their own colour.
I don't want to say it like this, but you could say wakeone consistently makes hiyyih shine. From wadada, up, and we fresh really went well. At wadada, that was a really bad era for her, and wakeone had a reason for that because hiyyih got a lot of hate back then. Then the up era was when kep1er started to fall. it's because the fans who supported Kep1er's early debut left all because 30-40% were gp999 fans who were curious about how Kep1er debuted. In the up era is pure keplian that supports Kep1er. Then on We Fresh, you could say Kep1er lost around 30-40% of his fans, so that the remaining 20-30% of the remaining kep1er fans (mostly from Japan).
The downfall of kep1er: 1. The music is pretty bad (except up) 2. Wakeone did not promote Kep1er in korea properly (they should have used Bahiyyih, Yujin, Dayeon, and Chaehyun for Korean promotions while Xiaoting, Hikaru and Youngeun in international) 3. Inconsistent concept (I'm sure because mnet can't manipulate rankings, so they use Kep1er for experimentation only) 4. Favoritism (my bias is Dayeon, but I admit that wakeone really likes her in every way. Dayeon can sing, rap, and dance, but all Kep1er members deserve to get a line that is equal to their respective positions and abilities.) 5. Overworked (wakeone really doesn't care about their health. Chaehyun has even been to the hospital 2 times because of that)
@@bluediamond740 lmao dayeon isnt your bias or you would know she's not even top 3 in overall lines distribution, and why would they promote bahiyyih in korea when koreans literally hate her
@@yejiponytail1897 Most hated doesn't mean it can't be promoted, right? sakura is the most hated on lesserafim in korea, but they promote sakura on odg. Wakeone could do the same thing like that.
@@bluediamond740 sakura and bahiyyih are not the same person. Bahiyyih is a nugu in korea and so hated because of nepotism she has multiple videos with millions views of people hating her. EA keplians hate her so much wake one had to start suing them so no promoting the least talented and hated member wouldn’t make sense
Mnet 100% wanted Yujin to make it. Gaeun and Baekho were rigged out of Iz*One and WannaOne, the experienced and older idol making it is basically "proof" that they're no longer rigging. Yujin making it into the group was Mnet's planned self-redemption arc. I honestly think they purposefully chose her to fill the "unlucky but talented senior idol"-spot: she looks young and does well with cute concepts, making it easier for her to blend in with the younger girls. Also Mnet was totally on board with Mashiro from the start, she was one of like six Japanese contestants they gave screentime and all of her segments were positive. She just didn't need as much help making it through the rounds as some of the other production favourites, which resulted in her being more of a background character in some episodes.
X1 .. god, that group had so much potential. I was literally crying when they called Lee Hangyul's name. I still can't and will never forgive MNET for fucking them up.
Every time I hear Produce I just think 'pick me, pick me, pick me up' and 'neko nekkoya'. Nothing else goes through my brain. I'm gonna have to watch this video again later lmao
Wake One should change it's name to Snooze One
Clearly 💀
Truly a suitable name!

in my opinion, kep1er was doomed even before they debuted. with all the favoritism and mistreatment going on in girls planet 999, fans had already chosen who they hated and who they liked, who they wanted to debut and who they would beat to the ground. and then the rigging scandal came, which we've seen caused X1 to disband in the past. overall, the group didn't have a good foundation or origin.
i agree with you

the way they milked fu yaning and then did everything in their power not to debut chinese contestants was embarassing

she really did carried the show for me, she makes things interesting there and one of the reason why i kept watching GP999 until the end...
my girl Yaning deserve better!!
its because chinese idols weren't as profitable at the time
Most of all I feel bad for Yujin, she was arguably one of the best dancers in CLC, and the disparity of her talent from everyone else due to her experience was enormous.

Imagine if they continued their title tracks with sound and concept similar to MVSK: elegant yet dynamic, posh yet powerful. And I think all of the members suit that concept too. This is only my opinion, but the concepts they tried on their title tracks does not suit all the girls, only some.
I agree with you it seems like the General
Opinion of Kep1er’s fans and non-fans felt that MSVK really suited them.
I think Up! was a concept and song that suited all of the members too.

@@yejiponytail1897 first week sales is not an indication of growth. Total sales is, which, unfortunately, is not noted in Kep1er
i think when it comes to sales something to keep in mind is that kep1er had also released a fankit, photobook and a lightstick all before the comeback which once again circles back to the companys poor management.
They're such a messy fandom lol. Izone wasn't spared of infighting between solo stans too, but at least they're united whenever it was needed.

I had high hopes after Iz*One. But where Iz*One had a strong identity, unique consistent theme and sound, it feels like Kep1er is just all over the place. A complete lack of artistic vision and consistency.

I noticed it too. They announce like a month or two months ago about Boys Planet.
so true. their first rat lab was IOI and now it's kep1er 💀 oh and also queendom1
*But honestly We Fresh should have not been a title track for their second comeback.*
There were other songs in their new Troubleshooter mini album like Dreams, Lion Tamer, or Downtown, *that they could have chosen for a title track if their company wanted to do a comeback in October.*
All of the Kep1er members deserve better title tracks.

So true. I love Yujin but kep1er is driving her away from me. They make um mid music
I hope at least that kep1er will eventually serve as what a temporary group is meant to, as a jumping step for them into a bigger opportunity. Most of the girls are really talented and deserve a spot in a group with a consistent concept and a solid discography. As for Yujin I think she could go solo if she had enough support.
the music doesn’t suck, they have a lot of great songs
Mnet rigged the votes by not only evil editing but also making the votes from Korean fans worth more than the international fans' votes. I remember seeing comparisons between the actual final lineup and the final lineup without the bonus votes. Tbh, kep1er would've been considered as a real global group if mnet never did what they did.
I don't think that's rigging the votes... they were transparent from the start that it would be 50% Korean, 50% International.
I actually want to see this happen!
Didn't Monsta X and Pentagon kinda had that? It is definitely a great idea tho
it's actually a good idea

"We all know Korea is the wife, but Japan is the side chick" no truer analogy was ever spoken 😂
Tbh the members I feel the worst for are Yujin and Bahiyyih. Yujin said, multiple times, that she wanted to show other sides of herself beyond the more girl crush concepts that CLC was doing in their later years, and aside from Up!, she hasn't really had that chance, has she? Bahiyyih has it even worse imo bc everyone still treats her as "Huening Kai's little sister" and Mnet isn't giving her a chance to step out of his shadow.
plus they're not letting her have just her first name as her stage name lmao. they really wanna treat a family name as a branding.
I think they want her to stay that way since she is controversial. She literally hasn’t done anything wrong and she has amazing stage presence, they just keep her in the back and give her two lines. They want people to keep talking about her this certain way which sucks.
yeah wakeone have really been trying to scrape by with promoting hiyyih as kai’s sister instead of letting her have her own identity. i don’t even think they wanted her in the debut lineup, only wanted her in the show for views or whatever and now they just use her for clout. i feel bad for the other members too like yujin, im sure they would all do way better in literally any other company. i swear sometimes i feel like half of kep1ler gets treated as background dancers by w1 but that might just be me since i haven’t listened to many of their bsides lmao ;; wakeone is horrible at managing groups and idols though :(
Before I watch the video, I do want to share my opinion on kep1er:
I personally feel like kep1er hasn't established their own 'sound' . I really feel bad for the members especially yujin, this was her last chance and looks what's happening to the group she's in now
Ps. Not to mention the solo stanning in this group is insane especially with certain members
Okay now onto watch the video, I always love hearing your opinions on anything kpop related
Even worse, they are a temporary group, it's been a year and they don't have a sound yet. That's a disaster. They aren't a seven year group, they don have time to be "figuring" out their sound. Wake One sucks 😔
@@everglowup exactly
Very true. I agree. The truth hurts but I want nothing but success for Kep1er even if W1 sucks.
this is the truth, the effort to promote them outside the group is basically non-existent and it's so infuriating
I.O.I could’ve been the next top girl group if they were still active.
kep1er is so underdeveloped, it’s sad
Who do you speculate wasn’t originally supposed to be kepler
Either way, it’s unfair.
koreans wouldn’t have stanned if the group wasn’t majority korean
10:45 I think your theory about Yujin could possibly be applied to Gaeun and why she was rigged out of IZ*One.
Q2 was seriously such a big waste of time. they could have gotten time to prepare quality songs and promotions more thoroughly
- Xiaoting
- Yurina
- Yujin

- Bora
- Ruiqi

I would have been extremely happy with that lineup
They wanted Xiaoting on that group just not 1st place. Similar to how they didn't want Sakura to be 1st in produce 48.
And who is gonna sing in that lineup 💀 ?

A lot of people like Up! but because their sales went down, the group had to go back to debut sounds.
i think mvsk concept definitely highlighted all the members. yes up concept was nice for summer but that is what bsides can be for. i wish they were managed better 😣
I love Kep1er and their music to death (and don't personally agree with all of these ideas of unoriginality and lack of identity and stuff)
And let me tell you.
Thank you for all the content Cheryl! Remember to take a break if you get overwhelmed 😊
You're welcome 💙💙
if they sticked with 3K 3J 3C line up people would enjoy the group more.

For yeseo they just want a maknae for them to work with so they have 2 choices myah and yeseo (they clearly didn't want a maknae position be japanese or chinese)
The 2 contestant that I 100% sure that they want in kep1er are yurina and bora. So their expected group could be like
Yujin - Leader
Chaehyun - Vocal
Bora - Vocal
Youngeun - Rap / Dance
Xiaoting - Visual
Dayeon - Vocal / Dance
Hikaru - Rap / Dance
Yurina - Visual
Yeseo or Myah - Maknae
Look, I know a lot will hate me for this but favored members being constantly shoved in my face isn't something I appreciate and is a major turn off for me. I did try to support because I'm a massive CLC fan and really rooted for Yujin, she was my bias. I started loving the contestants as well but I'm still bitter about the most talented chinese contestants being evil edited out. Their debut was okay their songs are okay but I wish they would market the members that are actually popular and people wanna see more of (Bahiyyih, Yujin, Xiaoting, Hikaru) instead of forcing people to like the members they favored.
yes exactly!! and their mistreatment for Xiaoting is just crazy like her birthday live was trash omg
i ult kep1er (and dayeon is my bias) so hearing you say all these things about them and her is very interesting and i actually agree with 90% of it.
as much as i love these girls im slowly starting to hope there disbandment comes quicker so we can see them in their own proper groups (/as solos) (if they want to of course) wherell theyll actually be utilised and treated properly
HOLY SHIT AN ACTUAL KEP1IAN
Oh my girl is very popular in sk tho they’re fine

@@letyv9071 True because there will be complaints on who gets the most lines, screentime, or dance break.
No. Army still the worst
I stopped following because everyone was always complaining and having wars about who is the most mistreated. It was always people victimizing the members
i think the concept was kep1er's worst issue, but not because of the space concept but because of they not following it, everglow were literally on a basement and loona in the border of disbandment, even wjsn the queens of this concept are turning into a more mature space-like concept, i think that it would have worked if they stayed with some concept like wadada maybe changing some things, but no, they decided to make their image as a group a mess, and that's why kep1er feels so empty and disfunctional
up was phenomenal. i absolutely loved that song. i have no idea what happened to we fresh
even with all the scandals, X1 were really gearing up. there was such huge hopes. mnet ruined it all themselves. they couldn’t rig the votes too much anymore so the evil editing and favouritism flew through the roof. poor kepler.
To this day, I say that X1 was the best boy group that never was. 😭

i have the same sentiments as you in wanting the girls to succeed. even if i don’t like the final lineup, i like enough members to want to see the group succeed.
wakeone really needs to stick with a sound that resonates with the girls and the audiences. they can’t keep flopping around different concepts cuz it’s just hurting the girls.
We are being FED by Cheryl! Videos on top of videos!
In short, the audience doesn't look at the whole group and just chooses fave 😅
I watched Produce and supported the groups (IOI, WannaOne and Izone - I didn't follow X1) so I also watched GP999 but it was such a let down.
@@Kpop-c5oi wouldn’t put Winter or NingNing in average tbh, at least not next to Chaehyun for sure.
They did suit MVSK well tho. It was a sophisticated and futuristic type of song which suited all of them and their concept well. It was different from other space concept groups too.
Also with NMIXX.
Chinese audience hated Hyerim to bits, though. They already don’t like kep1er too much, but Hyerim would’ve made an outrage.
I love how Mnet think they were so sneaky with their manipulation but everyone catched their sht 💀💀💀
This is the 4th video I’ve seen in the past month talking about Kepler (by bigger Ktubers) that should tell us something lol
I agree I think they should get better promotions and their music quality could improve
The fact that Bora not even once reached the top 9 screams the whole thing was BS
welp, she wasn't rlly popular, even with all the screen time and angel edit mnet gave her, it was most likely not going to work
@@Nini_K2 She was the most talented one on the whole show and proved that she was a great leader.
Imo, how the group would have turned out if mnet rigged the group again (based only on the final girls cause it would be really difficult to know if they wanted girls eliminated earlier on):
Kim Dayeon (duh)
Kim Bora
Seo Youngeun
Kim Chahyun
Wen Zhe
Shen Xiao Ting
Kawaguchi Yurina
Ezaki Hikaru
And then either Yeseo or Shana im not sure
yeseo or guin myah
wakeone should've made the The First Take's version of Wing Wing as a korean title track because that rendition was so so good i come back at least once a week to that video
tbh i genuinely love kep1er and their music even if they don't stick to 1 concept and sound (although i have to agree up! is the best title track and doublast is their best album) so i support them but i do agree the way wakeone and mnet treat them is preventing them from being as big as they should be by now and i'm still pissed about queendom they shouldn't have put the girls through that and it was horrible for promotion
i think a lot of kpop stans are learning about the tragedy of the entertainment industry in real time 💀 but it seriously does fucking suck that talented girls can have their potential wasted by their label's shitty planning. i don't think they're doomed to fail but the company needs to get it together
Bruh the new kids don't even understand that this is actually the best it's been.....2nd gen was rough. I had to stop altogether with how much bs was going on. Groups were dropping like flies in those days 😔

Ty for the idea, I'll definitely look into it and make a video!! 💙
kep1er is actually a great name for the space concept, bcs there is a solar system named kepler that was belived had a planet like earth kepler-22b...
I don't really care about the rigging scandal and their solo stans, but when they don't have a particular sound and identity (beside their 'space' concept) I just know it's gonna be disaster. Wake One not even using the space concept properly!
My Yujin and Xiaoting 😭😭😭
Mnet messed it all up getting rid of the 3-3-3 vote right at the end!
OMG i love this video. The way you’re telling the story is so funny. You’re actually pretty funny 😂
although not strategic, I guess the space concept just makes sense for kep1er. their show is called girls planet 999 and they were named after a planet (or an astronomer, I'm not sure), so the space concept was inevitable.
chinese contestants hadn't been done before? kyulkyung from ioi was literally chinese
I just wish they did a concept like MVSK. I was so happy when I saw the pre debut elle cover bc I thought they were going for an elegant direction
Kep1er didn't strike me as a harmonious group in the first place, and it's only getting worse due to management.
I need to say that your editing rn is soooooo entertaining, I love it ^^
Mvsk is one of my top 10 favourite Kpop bsides of all time too, such a banger
imo, kep1er is the perfect example of what happens when mnet isn’t able to rig any members in.
The downfall of kep1er:
1. The music is pretty bad (except up)
2. Wakeone did not promote Kep1er in korea properly (they should have used Bahiyyih, Yujin, Dayeon, and Chaehyun for Korean promotions while Xiaoting, Hikaru and Youngeun in international)
3. Inconsistent concept (I'm sure because mnet can't manipulate rankings, so they use Kep1er for experimentation only)
4. Favoritism (my bias is Dayeon, but I admit that wakeone really likes her in every way. Dayeon can sing, rap, and dance, but all Kep1er members deserve to get a line that is equal to their respective positions and abilities.)
5. Overworked (wakeone really doesn't care about their health. Chaehyun has even been to the hospital 2 times because of that)
