    For Confession 46, one of the most funniest fights in KPOP was when Super Junior's Leeteuk, Eunhyuk and Donghae got into a fight in the corridors of Inkigayo, after Donghae played a prank on Leetuek when he was sleeping, Eunhyuk just happened to be there and Leeteuk woke up and thought it was him and so had a huge arse fight, in which Donghae and Eunhyuk started crying. This all happened only 2 hours before the show started in which Super Junior won the trophy, but everyone was so upset that they didn't even look at the camera AT ALL except Donghae who was smiling and waving as if HE didn’t start the whole thing.

    "what's with this generation's obsession with hating on straight white men?" YES. YES. Finally. I've been thinking about it too for so long. What's sad is that when you ask this question, the same people will say that you have internalised misogyny, that you yourself must be white etc. And I'm like... why do we have to bring race in nearly every subject we talk about. Also when the race isn't even important yo the conversation. Why do we need to invalidate people if they're of a certain minority OR if they belong to the majority. Minorities have been hated, people of color have been hated, different sexualities and classes and genders have been hated... so let straight white men have their turn - for fairness 😂
      More specifically, all those other hated groups are realizing that a lot of their problems around other groups hating them started with white straight men. And that's not an exaggeration or lie. Throughout history white men have realized the way to fight as a minority is to turn other groups against the minority they wanted them to hate.

      @@samanthabourne4865 I agree with you. Sometimes though, I think ppl go a little too far and bring up the whole “straight white man” thing where it really does not matter, especially in Kpop communities where they make hating white people have their personality. Like for example, look at how people treat Emily and other white contestants on Dream Academy. I think that kind of behavior is just uncalled for but I do understand the whole “it’s their turn” because even till this day I still get unwarranted jokes about my race being made to me, as well as the popularity of racist jokes against other races. primarily by straight white men. The other day I saw a Tiktok with a hidden message that said “Total N****R Death” with 100k likes and a bunch of people saying “based” and “i wish” in the comments so I’m sorry but i just don’t feel bad when I see ppl making dumb jokes abt white men for reasons like this. i think the yellow fever confession specifically called out straight white men bc (at least in my experience) thats the demographic where the phenomenon is most prevalent. idk i also feel like white men or men in general ig are most likely to view a whole race of women as objects of desire before they see them as a people. obv other people/races/sexualities can do it too and Not All Men and whatnot but it’s not shocking to me when straight white men are singled out in regards to yellow fever when they are the primary perpetrators of it? like idk i didn’t rlly see much of an issue w that confession from what i heard

    • @beefbeef8589
      @beefbeef8589 Год назад +22

      Neither did I. If you look at most passport bros they’re white. Most perpetrators of yellow fever are also white again. It’s not that men of other races never do that it’s just that they mostly do.

  • @nyarix4838
    @nyarix4838 Год назад +7

    I’m so tired of fans saying “this large older group is under appreciated” it’s not that they are under appreciated it’s the fact that their fans are also grown adults who don’t have time to stream Mvs or buy multiple albums. Even so the large group will always have this superiority over the newer groups bc of their successful past. Kpop fans grow up and we loose interest in stan culture and just listen to the music when it’s released. And not make the new song our whole new personality.

  • @kelam5112
    @kelam5112 Год назад +22

    Hmmm idk if I’ll explain this well, but yellow fever is more of a straight white man category. That’s not to say fetishes doesn’t run in different directions. Yellow fever or Asian woman fetishization is more based off of earlier war times where American soldiers, who were dominantly white, would have bases/camps or movements throughout Asia and create relationships with Asian women to only leave them when they had to return home in America with their American family or girlfriend/wife. Fast forward to Asian representation in American film where relationships mainly comprised of white male and Asian female relations. Asian women are typically portrayed as small, reserved, quiet, and overall “exotic.” Asian male figures didn’t have a big play in American film up until recent years. As for today, some white American soldiers that no longer serve move to Asian countries to be with Asian women, however, the reason why is still a debatable topic. Overall, I do somewhat agree with the fact that it’s unsettling seeing an older white man in the crowd screaming for an idol that’s barely over 18, but again, there are old men in the crowd that aren’t white. I think from me as an asian (if that’s context enough) I’ve mostly scene in media white male and asian females relationships. In my personal life it’s more mixed minority relationships. Also, unfortunately, races other than white is not that favorable in Asian countries, so fetishization from other races is not as common. There’s a documentary or video on RUclips that talks about yellow fever more throughly. I’ll have to find it and add it later, but I just hope this comment makes some sense and doesn’t come off in a bad way. This is just what I’ve learned and personally experienced

      And Kpop stans are getting younger and younger. They're trying to better target, age audience. Kpop has always debuted teens, just not so many. But with the American fanbase, they're all young or act young so they give them young
      They're probably trying to stop them from treating these adult idols like babies. Or trying to give kids, idols their age to enjoy

    • @_dont_mind_me

      @@LovelyKissess don’t know about you but I never had an issue supporting artists in their mid twenties when I was a preteen and young teen. Nor did I ever try to treat them like babies. In fact I actively avoided celebrities of a similar age to me, I didn’t find them relatable at all.
      And are companies really marketing only towards a young teen audience? New Jeans perform in colleges, that audience will all be older than them. Plus their company seem to have no issue allowing middle aged men to come to their fan signs, clearly they think of them as a profitable demographic and don’t care if their teen idols are forced to spend hours talking to grown men, no matter how uncomfortable the girls look. No, companies are just chasing profit, while kpop stans blindly consume without any thought to the exploitation going on behind the scenes.
      And even if it was all to target a young demographic, it still doesn’t excuse the fact that kpop is a horrifyingly toxic industry full of sexualisation, overworking, starvation culture and hate trains. Older idols who debuted young have warned about this, about how they regret it and how they’re worried for new groups. Teens should not be exposed to that just because a couple million 13 year olds are interested in the music genre. 25+ is not old.

    • @LovelyKissess
      @LovelyKissess Год назад

      @@_dont_mind_me Neither have I. But just because you and I haven't, doesn't mean others haven't or don't. It's a very common thing amongst kpop stans to treat adults like babies. They've had fans LITERALLY but idols bibs
      And yes, their music and dances are targeted towards a younger audience. College consists of young adults as well. Newjeans do have young adult members. And 19 not 20 is too old to like or support that group. No age is actually
      So middle aged men can't go to their fan signings, but middle aged women can go to male groups with minors fan signings. Minors can go to adult male fan signings?
      Do you know how much easier it is for an ADULT MALE IDOL to harass an underage fan?
      Have you heard of Kris Wu? Do you know what he was accused of? Cai Xukun?
      They are both ADULT MALE IDOLS with MINOR FANS, and we're both accused of sleeping with, their fans. One was even accused of getting a 14yo fan pregnant
      Do you know how that was able to happen (if it was true) because young kids only have older idols to look up to. They don't have kids their age to admire and see in concerts, because people think kids need to learn how to be kids FROM ADULTS
      And the crazy thing is, that people get upset with ADULT IDOLS for being ADULTS. Yelling that they have minor fans so they shouldn't do adult things
      This can all be solved IF they let these kids have MINOR role models. And STOP trying to water down adults
      Older idols that debut go through the same thing. ESPECIALLY WITH FANS who should be the main target for change.
      The older generation of kpop went through horrible things, but that hasn't been a problem for YEARS.
      Starvation isn't a kpop issue. It's a human issue. Korea loves thinner bodies, so even kids in school will starve themselves to be skinny. Get plastic surgery because they see their OLDER IDOL look a certain way
      Stopping kids from debuting WILL NOT stop older men and women from being creepy. Target the source. And trust me, it's not the minors
      No one ever said 25 was old. There are still idols debuting that are 30. No one pays them any attention though. THAT'S WHY they debut younger idols. It's the fans, not the company. Kids still and will always admire people their age no matter how much they crush on older idols. Why are you guys trying to take that from them?
      There's a reason Disney channel got so big. Because KIDS had something and someone to look up to. NOT because "middle aged men" were watching the shows
      Y'all are literally ruining these kids childhood by trying to make them step into an adult world. And ruining these adults by trying to make them act like minors so that kids can have role models that act their age
      There's nothing wrong with a kid having a career. If you feel they're being mistreated, fight for better treatment.
      There's also nothing wrong with kids being influenced by people their age. The ones that aren't smoking, drinking, cursing, partying, dating, being adults.
      If you don't like it, don't support it. But taking that away from kids is screwed up and selfish

      I’m not saying there isn’t a market for it, that’s the whole reason kpop companies are debuting kids in the first place. But just because there is a market for something it doesn’t mean it should be pursued. The issues you’ve brought up within the kpop industry need to be dealt with in their own right, debuting kids isn’t some be all end all solution to:
      Babying idols - babying teens isn’t any better
      Preventing s*xual exploitation and coercion - teen idols are gonna grow into adults, adults who’ve grown up isolated from peer groups. This issue needs serious preventative action, debuting kids is like putting a plaster on a stab wound.
      S*xual concepts too adult for teen fans - we literally have Tzuyu dancing s*xually in a lift at 16, NewJeans singing about oral s*x, Eunchae and Garam twerking on the floor in their debut mv, Niki performing fever (I hate Hybe so much they’re the main perpetrators). The teens are also doing s*xual concepts.
      And personally I don’t think the occasional adult is too big an issue at a minor idol’s fansign but when, like in New Jeans’ case, most of the attendants are middle aged men it’s weird, especially when you can see how uncomfortable those girls are. That just tells me the company care more about profit than the girl’s comfort. I don’t necessarily think they’re unsafe, but it’s putting them in a vulnerable situation. And you’re right, it’s not the kid’s fault p*dophiles exist but you’re never going to get rid of them, so making kids vulnerable in an industry notorious for p*rvs isn’t in anyone’s best interest.
      Finally, I’m sorry but (removing pronouns cause this website is intent on shadow banning me) keep saying that one of the main reasons kids should be allowed to debut is because teens need people their age to ‘look up to’. (Redacted) said kids can’t learn how to be kids from adults, but kids certainly aren’t learning it from underage kpop idols, who’ve isolated themselves from pretty much everyone their own age to work 40 hours a week and live, for all intents and purposes, as adults do. It’s not gonna k*ll teens to not have people their age performing on music bank. I don’t think it’s a big sacrifice for preventing child expl*itation and protection very young individuals from an exceptionally toxic industry. Yes st*rvation culture is ingrained into kpop, companies force their idols on diets, often weigh them weekly and even take away mv screen time if they gain wait. People online are ruthless and rip female idols to shreds if they earn a couple of kgs. Obviously diet culture exists everywhere, but it’s exceptionally worse when a child who hasn’t even finished puberty is thrust into an industry where appearance is everything and every little flaw is examined and talked over by millions of people. It also teaches those child idols that their appearance is their most important feature: Kids want to get plastic surgery because even the people *their age* that they see on tv/online are visually perfect in every way. And all of this is to the detriment of their physical health, Boa has talked about her stunted growth because of the dieting that was forced on her, the amount of times we hear about idols having to go on drips between back to back promotions because they haven’t slept in 3 days and you think it’s acceptable to put children though that just because there’s a market for it?? Let’s add onto the crazy beauty standards and ridiculous work hours: the sheer amount of online h*te idols receive; the fact these kids have no backup plan if they aren’t successful because they’ve given up on their education before high school; the isolation of growing up in an environment with almost no one your age, even within your own group, sometimes living countries away from your parents; not having a proper teenagehood being able to explore and make mistakes with the comfort of privacy and friends.
      So no, I don’t think “some kids want an idol their age to relate to” is an adequate enough reason to debut children into the kpop industry. (Redacted) mentioned Disney channel but most of those child stars went off the rails for a few years *(with the whole world watching)* so I really don’t think it’s the best example. They can wait a few years until they’re more able to handle the mental and physical stress that comes with it. Teens aren’t gonna d*e if there isn’t an idol their age.
      (Please post 🙏)

The problem is that the group has not been fully active since 2018 so there haven't been many new younger fans. It's just mostly us older Exo-ls who have grown up with the band and have remained loyal over the years despite being mostly adults now.
    Also, to the person who hates Kai. stFU. respectfully. Jongin is literally the sweetest human being that ever existed.

    • @vikctoryan15
      @vikctoryan15 Год назад +2

      @@LovelyLittleLillies Personally I don't care about views. I think that most views are empty and inflated and I don't have the time or desire to get involved with stream farms. Touring is the only tangible way to tell if an artist is actually successful anymore because many artists have millions of views but can't sell a concert ticket and then on the other hand many artists have less views and can sell out a show easily.
      Look at Jackson Wang, many people laughed at him when he announced his Magic Man tour, but his concerts ended up selling out in many locations worldwide with 15-20k audience per show. I attended his Barclay Center show in April and there were over 20k New Yorkers of all different races, genders, and backgrounds singing his songs word for word. Trust me, having a real supportive fanbase like that versus mass streams is way better.
      Plus, BTS's international success is because HYBE was forward-thinking in marketing them internationally from the beginning of their career while SM focused on marketing EXO to Asia. As a New Yorker, BTS has always had more visibility here even before they became famous here simply because of Hybe's marketing. If SM had invested in the international market sooner then it would be a different story but if we are being honest the EXO members don't seem very interested at all anyway. They seem quite comfortable with their success and are more interested in solo comebacks, acting, and other stuff at the moment. And the older/mature side of the fanbase like myself is ok with that.

      Yeah but the problem here is that EVERY race/ethnicity (regardless of sexual preference) has fetishized East Asians. The difference is it seems like white folks do it more simply because East Asians are more likely to dare a white person than other races. If EA dated other races as much as they did white folks and documented their interracial relationship online. You’ll see how much other races fetishized EA. Not to mention the fetish goes both ways. EA are aware they’re being fetishized and are okay with it because they fetishized them back. Much like how white women know there’s a good bit black man who fetishized them and only like them because their white. Those same women have no problem being with black man like that (not all black man that date with women do so out of a fetish) because they fetish black man. EA women and man know what they’re doing when they choose to date a white person who CLEARLY wants them because their EA. EA often joke about how easy it is to get a “green card” from white Americans who fetish them and want to bring them to the states.
