exactly, the other day on twitter when k-netizens were comparing the lip syncing situations of IVE and LESSERAFIM and they came to a conclusion that only IVE is getting criticized for it when other have done it as well, but the qrts under those tweets were saying “it’s ok because they have proven their talented”, “they have sang live more times than IVE so it doesn’t matter” or “IVEs hate is deserved because they have never sang live” type of things and the thing is… they weren’t even trying to hide that they are being hypocritical, they were just saying most of that because they felt like they needed to bring down IVE to “attempt” make them look bad. and before any bozos come here commenting “well LE SSERAFIMS choreography is harder so it’s makes sense why they lip synced”, the k-netizens were comparing moments when both IVE a and LE SSERAFIM lip synced while sitting down and also I am commenting this as an example of what hypocrisy is. because why are you only criticizing IVE for lip-syncing but brushing it off when LESSERAFIM does it? regardless of talent or not they have both lip-synced and it’s never ok to bring any groups down for that since everyone (not only k-pop) has done it.

Recently Liz did solo live where she sang karaoke casually. I thought she sounded good and that people would praise her. But majority of comments were "too bad her company is focusing on visuals" "and then there are Leeseo and WY lip syncing" "She has talents unlike her members" These people are actually villians.
They're trying to justify their hate on Wonyoung by painting Liz as a victim. But the thing here is that they're not "fighting for Liz", they're using Liz and the other members as reasons to hate on Wonyoung and indirectly "destroying IVE and discouraging new fans from stanning them". They don't actually care about Liz, even as she is given opportunities to grow her image.

during the height of the strawberry moon lipsyncing fiasco, wonyoung went on pm late at night and told dives that she gains strength from us and if someone is giving her a hard time she always thinks "i have dives. you're jealous, right." it was a very weird and concerning message, especially when you remember that at the start of 2022, wonyoung trended for her words "i don't care. you are you, and i am me." after ive landed on thailand for gda, she went on pm again and said that she doesn't feel well but there's nothing she can do. it's clear that the intense ongoing hate train has changed her a little. i hope 2023 will be a lot kinder to ive, even if the start has been the opposite.
I'm honestly not surprised. The sheer amount of hate & negative fixation on Wonyoung is truly inhumane & demonic in every way possible. Even the strongest of minds can break under such constant psychological abuse. I found it hysterical when so many people were calling Love Dive SOTY and when they actually got the daesangs, they switched up and said they didn't deserve the award💀 There is a lot more gg stans in K-Pop than there has ever been but most of times, they are the first to start dragging down other ggs because of popularity. Seen it with Garam, Wonyoung, Jennie etc. Stan K-Pop has reached such a level of toxicity that there feels like there is no point of return. Everyone just abuses their anonymity on the internet to air out their insecurities on idols. I've never felt more disappointed and embarrassed EVER.

Can’t agree there - lip syncing IS that bad. You can’t call yourself a competent idol if you can’t sing live whilst dancing let alone whilst sitting down. Using audio that has been already recorded is basically fraud and a slap in the face to everyone who has been supporting you.

This is EXACTLY why you shouldn't debut minors. Wonyoung, Yujin, Leeseo all debuted as minors. I do think it's unfair for these kids that the parents think being in the public eye is a GOOD thing. It's disgusting and I blame the company.

Then we got the trainee period which messes you up real good, mentally and physically. I remember back in the day people hating on SNSD online, mostly Yoona. Thought it couldn't get worse. Jealous freaks, you know? Enter KARA and Hara. Can't get worse, she gets pretty much the same treatment online as Yoona ( by haters ). Later on, came Miss A and Suzy. Kind of the same as the previous two and I mostly told myself it was because of how JYP was promoting them. Enter Sulli. Hwasa. Jennie. Wonyoung. It never stopped getting worse. Like why? I wanna touch on the favoritism part as a DIVE who follows their content. It is bull, and the people spreading this are not even IVE fans cause the reality is, DIVES don’t complain of Wonyoung being favored because we know these allegations are exaggerated. The outfits situation is so ridiculous and cherry picked because if you watch all their stages you’d know how many times other members get the so called ‘stand out outfit’, not to mention that the ‘better outfit’ is a subjective opinion. Second of all, literally all the members have solo projects and activities, Rei recently had a SOLO VOGUE JAPAN COVER, do people realize how huge that is? Gaeul had her own solo cover recently and became brand ambassador for a clothing line, Yujin is the face of Clio makeup which is one of the biggest brands in Korea, this to name a few. The girls are not treated poorly and disregarded, that’s the opinion of someone who clearly doesn’t know anything about them. Not to mention that the reality is this is a business, Wonyoung is the most popular member so of course brands and publications will REQUEST for her to work with them. That’s how business works, Starship is an agency, they make the connection between artists and brands, but the brands are the ones that CHOOSE to work with those idols. Check every IVE social media page, Wonyoung always gets the most likes, this is not about mistreating the other members, everyone gets the opportunities that are presented to them. And who is in charge of that? YOU, you want Liz to be on Won’s level of business opportunities? MAKE HER JUST AS POPULAR. People act as if Starship is actively hating on these girls when in reality they are simply providing what the PUBLIC wants. Every group has done something similar at some point, even the ones that are universally praised for their live vocals. I do agree that all IVE members should get equal opportunities to show off their talent BUT when anyone besides Wonyoung gets an opportunity to show off their talent, antis and solo stans tend to ignore it just to paint Wonyoung as the villain yet again. not a fully formed thought, but honestly, I think the reason Wonyong is so hated is because she is hard to project oneself onto. Female idols are most popular with a young female audience when these fans can become attached to them by self-projecting onto them. Yet, Wonyong has received a lot of jealousy from that same demo(having people's fave male idols fawning over her does not help her be liked by stans either). While Wonyong should be aspirational in the same way as the bp girls are, with her brand deals, etc, she is almost too perfect for young K-pop stans to pretend that they could be like her. She has always been pretty, rich, skinny and popular and seemingly nice. Not to mention, her more cutesy presentation lacks the bad girl cool factor of Jennie and Lisa that would make her less spotless and feel more powerful and in charge (though almost no female idols have much power in deciding their image). I think you actually hit the nail in the head with this one. Kpop fans (mostly international) seem to be obsessed with the idea of an idol being relatable, funny and authentic. What they don't realize is that this "relatability" can also be a type of persona assigned by the company, just like being the badass one, the cute one or the pretty one (like in Wonyoung's case). Unfortunately, the way Wonyoung is branded is basically a magnet for weird jealous people

if Wonyoung wasn't in IVE, they wouldn't get as much hate as they have now and that's really sad because you can see how insecure and jealous people are of her to the point that they hate her and her group for every little thing they do.. The things IVE has done so far would never get hate if it was another group doing the EXACT same thing they did. if the strawberry thing was done by, for example Winter, it would've been simply seen as cute and adorable. when the lipsyncing while seating (which has been done by thousands of idols throughout the years) were done by Lesserafim as well, they never got called untalented, useless, pretty faces, got death threats, laughed at etc. but IVE did. IVE constantly gets called coworkers because they're all quiet and don't do activities together everyday but Nmixx who are all loud and enjoy games but clearly are not close with each other get called best friends. if anything, Nmixx are what I'd call co-workers and IVE friends. I personally think IVE has better stage presence than NMIXX. NMIXX stares directly into the camera and aren't as good as their dance practice videos. I think IVE shows more consistency and have different facial expressions. I liked this video!
For me, K-pop is more of an experience than just music. There's the dance, fashion, group activities, and a community. I didn’t really like WY that much, tho I never spread hate when content of her appeared, I just kept scrolling or ignored it. But after this video it has made me realize and rethink that I may didn’t like her because of being a successful woman and being aware of it (the literal “they hate to see a girlboss winning”). Listening to Yunjin's new song, idol, I thought of Wonyoung, I don't know why but I just thought of her and I'm not even a fan because rumours and stuff turned me away as I wanted a peaceful group to stan. I used to think IVE's criticism was valid (although I never supported the unnecessary hate) but after hearing that song, I realized it wasn't Like they're humans too and if you think they're not talented, then ignore them and move on or else don't comment. If you don't like them, that's okay, just move on with your life. What will one lose if you do that? during the height of the strawberry moon lipsyncing fiasco, wonyoung went on pm late at night and told dives that she gains strength from us and if someone is giving her a hard time she always thinks "i have dives. you're jealous, right." it was a very weird and concerning message, especially when you remember that at the start of 2022, wonyoung trended for her words "i don't care. you are you, and i am me." after ive landed on thailand for gda, she went on pm again and said that she doesn't feel well but there's nothing she can do. it's clear that the intense ongoing hate train has changed her a little. i hope 2023 will be a lot kinder to ive, even if the start has been the opposite.
I'm honestly not surprised. The sheer amount of hate & negative fixation on Wonyoung is truly inhumane & demonic in every way possible. I wanna touch on the favoritism part as a DIVE who follows their content. It is bull, and the people spreading this are not even IVE fans cause the reality is, DIVES don’t complain of Wonyoung being favored because we know these allegations are exaggerated. The outfits situation is so ridiculous and cherry picked because if you watch all their stages you’d know how many times other members get the so called ‘stand out outfit’, not to mention that the ‘better outfit’ is a subjective opinion. Second of all, literally all the members have solo projects and activities, Rei recently had a SOLO VOGUE JAPAN COVER, do people realize how huge that is? Gaeul had her own solo cover recently and became brand ambassador for a clothing line, Yujin is the face of Clio makeup which is one of the biggest brands in Korea, this to name a few. The girls are not treated poorly and disregarded, that’s the opinion of someone who clearly doesn’t know anything about them. Not to mention that the reality is this is a business, Wonyoung is the most popular member so of course brands and publications will REQUEST for her to work with them. That’s how business works, Starship is an agency, they make the connection between artists and brands, but the brands are the ones that CHOOSE to work with those idols. Check every IVE social media page, Wonyoung always gets the most likes, this is not about mistreating the other members, everyone gets the opportunities that are presented to them. And who is in charge of that? YOU, you want Liz to be on Won’s level of business opportunities? MAKE HER JUST AS POPULAR. People act as if Starship is actively hating on these girls when in reality they are simply providing what the PUBLIC wants. I do agree that all IVE members should get equal opportunities to show off their talent BUT when anyone besides Wonyoung gets an opportunity to show off their talent, antis and solo stans tend to ignore it just to paint Wonyoung as the villain yet again. I often see people complaining about Liz not getting enough opportunities but during the MMA(or MAMA awards I don’t quite remember) she got a solo opportunity to play ‘Eleven’ on a piano which she did flawlessly but again everyone just ignored it. She also collaborated with Yoon and Yuqi(who are both very successful 4th idols).Gaeul got a solo dance break I believe on one of the big awards shows.Rei became the 1st 4th gen idol to cover Vogue Japan. I remember seeing a tiktok a few weeks ago of someone complaining that they give all solo opportunities to a girl that can’t hold a note( it was after the leeseo and Wonyoung scandal).

not a fully formed thought, but honestly, I think the reason Wonyong is so hated is because she is hard to project oneself onto. Female idols are most popular with a young female audience when these fans can become attached to them by self-projecting onto them. Yet, Wonyong has received a lot of jealousy from that same demo(having people's fave male idols fawning over her does not help her be liked by stans either). While Wonyong should be aspirational in the same way as the bp girls are, with her brand deals, etc, she is almost too perfect for young K-pop stans to pretend that they could be like her. She has always been pretty, rich, skinny and popular and seemingly nice. Not to mention, her more cutesy presentation lacks the bad girl cool factor of Jennie and Lisa that would make her less spotless and feel more powerful and in charge (though almost no female idols have much power in deciding their image). I think you actually hit the nail in the head with this one. Kpop fans (mostly international) seem to be obsessed with the idea of an idol being relatable, funny and authentic. What they don't realize is that this "relatability" can also be a type of persona assigned by the company, just like being the badass one, the cute one or the pretty one (like in Wonyoung's case). Unfortunately, the way Wonyoung is branded is basically a magnet for weird jealous people

The things IVE has done so far would never get hate if it was another group doing the EXACT same thing they did. if the strawberry thing was done by, for example Winter, it would've been simply seen as cute and adorable. when the lipsyncing while seating (which has been done by thousands of idols throughout the years) were done by Lesserafim as well, they never got called untalented, useless, pretty faces, got death threats, laughed at etc. but IVE did. IVE constantly gets called coworkers because they're all quiet and don't do activities together everyday but Nmixx who are all loud and enjoy games but clearly are not close with each other get called best friends. if anything, Nmixx are what I'd call co-workers and IVE friends. And it pains me to say that all this hate they're receiving is 90% because of the fact that Wonyoung is in the group. I just really hope that they continue on thriving as a group and as individuals.

For me, K-pop is more of an experience than just music. There's the dance, fashion, group activities, and a community. One year it was blackpink, the next it was aespa, now it's ive. 4th gen gg stans (especially ones that were successful this year) i hate to say this but be ready for anything and i mean anything. dives actually found a few hate vids on tiktok that are sponsored. we're already suspicious of the algorithm because every ive hate vid can easily reach 1m views, but seeing vids that have the "paid partnership" tag below was even more weird. we've been sending proofs to sse but we haven't seen any action from them.
Ive reminds me a LOT of Twice early in their career. Twice were ripped apart for their talent and Nayeon was constantly attacked for favouritism.

About the lip sync, why are they hating on the idols when THEY AREN'T THE ONES WHO GETS TO DECIDE IF THEY SING LIVE OR NOT. it's the music show and the companies that decide that. Yes it felt very unprofessional to use the same pre recording from their cover on their RUclips channel but they have been super busy as a group n maybe didn't get time to record again. Atleast give them a benefit of doubt. Their live vocals aren't good and they deserve to be criticized for it but hate is still not justified.

Debuting as a minor has it's own issues but many western artists debut young and no one makes a fuss about it. As long as fans are considerate of the minors and companies treat them well,there shouldn't be a problem but we fail to do that.
I didn’t really like WY that much, tho I never spread hate when content of her appeared, I just kept scrolling or ignored it. But after this video it has made me realize and rethink that I may didn’t like her because of being a successful woman and being aware of it (the literal “they hate to see a girlboss winning”). This also lead me to think about misogyny and how it influences at the moment we judge idols. I’m completely sure that the cutesy “childish” behavior WY has been getting hate for would not have the same impact if a male idol did it. Furthermore, I think that society doesn’t allow women to act immature and just have fun, thus the hate towards WY. Besides, we don’t know if the company has told her to act like that with the objective of gaining fame, weather is good or bad; and even if she decided she had to do that, it may be to show that she really is trying her best since women has always had to put much more effort than men to make a place for themselves at literally anything. I also believe that if she doesn’t push it that much, she’s still gonna be criticized for “lacking effort” or being “lazy”, there’s no win in either situation. Plus, it conveniences Starship to make her stand out just to gain money, so it’d be the company’s issue if any member is mistreated. Actually, they should be worrying about WY’s mental health so the hate she gets doesn’t affect her in a worse level.
And about the Leeseo thing, we’ve all been “cringy” in our life, especially in our teenage years, the only difference is that we haven’t been recorded or shown to the internet. Again, people don’t let a girl make mistakes and be immature, instead, they’re judgemental towards it.

I've been fan of kpop since 2011 and the last time I saw this big hate towards one spesific individual, it didn't end well. Also, these hates towards I've is worse than the hate I've seen over some idol that more problematic (using illegal drug, sex offender, etc)

Like they're humans too and if you think they're not talented, then ignore them and move on or else don't comment. If you don't like them, that's okay, just move on with your life.
