- Hello and welcome to my channel! Don't forget to subscribe while you're here thanks :)
Disclaimer: This video is for information purposes only. I do not have any affiliation with the authority that issues driver's licence in Hungary. I am only sharing my experience.
In this video, I have shared the three simple steps I followed to naturalise my Ghanaian driver's licence to a Hungarian driver's licence for about HUF 40,000 back in 2023 .
Here's what I paid :
Medical certificate - : HUF7200 (from local GP)
Translation of licence to Hungarian - : HUF 29000 (not 39k😅. Expect to get the translation 1 week at the earliest)
Application fee - : HUF 6200
This is incredibly cheap compared to the approximately HUF 500,000 it would have cost to go through a driving school in Hungary. After the application I got a permit to drive in Hungary for 30 days and I received the card 2 weeks later.
I found a BME document that clearly and precisely explained the naturalisation process. You can access that document through the link below.
www.imt.bme.hu...
If you prefer not to download it, I've included the text from the document here for your convenience.
"Naturalisation of driver’s licence
Who can start the process?
Holders of a foreign driving licence, if they have reached the age of 17.
If the driving licence was issued in a third country not party to the 1968 Vienna Convention on
Road Transport:
the licence may be used for driving for a period of one year from the date of commencement
of continuous residence. After that period, a Hungarian driving licence must be issued in place
of the foreign driving licence by means of a naturalisation procedure.
If, on the basis of a certified translation of the foreign driving licence, the content of the driving
licence corresponds to the content of an international category which may be entered in a
Hungarian driving licence as defined in the Annex to this Regulation, the driving licence may
be naturalised after a successful examination in basic traffic knowledge.
If the content of the driving licence cannot be established or does not correspond to the
content of an international category which may be entered in a Hungarian driving licence as set
out in the Annex to this Regulation, the driving licence may be naturalised after a successful
practical driving and basic traffic knowledge test.
Where can you do it?
Central Registration Office, 1133 Budapest, Visegrádi u. 110-112.
You can book an appointment online on the following link:
idopontfoglalo...
Documents you will need:
1. Passport or ID card
2. Address card and residence permit
3. Certified hungarian translation of your foreign driving licence (Translation Office:
OFFI Zrt. 1062 Budapest, Bajza utca 52.)
4. Medical certificate for „B” category driving licence (from your GP)
5. Proof of payment of the certificate issue fee. *
*In the case of payment by postal cash transfer order (cheque), the cheque slip, and in the case
of payment by credit card at a document office or government office, the receipt of payment.
If you have an International Driver's license, you may be able to naturalise your license
without taking the theory or practical exams, even if your license comes from a country not
participating in the Vienna Convention. Ask the Central Office while applying to see if your
country qualifies.
How much does it cost?
The naturalisation costs 6200 HUF and the medical certificate issued by your GP costs 7200
HUF.
If an examination is required, an administrative service fee of 4500 HUF per examination
should be paid.

hey bother! I am in Debrecen and I have my international license. could you please guide me about the locations of the offices from where I can translate my license and Naturalise my license. Are these offices in Debrecen??
Of course, for the translation search Offi Zrt Debrecen, for the naturalization search Kormányablak Debrecen (there are 2). If you want you can simply go there and ask them if you may need a driving or paper test or not.
@@oseikofi7 brother do I need any kind of appointment or not ?
Better to take an appointment. Offi.hu idopontfoglalo.kh.gov.hu/bejelentkezes
@@oseikofi7 brother what about the medical certificate from the GP. do I need an appointment from them and if yes then please share the link from where I can book an appointment
Noo you don't, this is a small place where you have to go if you have minor medical issues, search "orvosi rendelok" on Google and go to the nearest one. If they don't work on the medical certificate for driving licence, it's very likely they can tell where to go. Every neighborhood has a dedicated "hazi orvos" ( just another name they call them) even Hungarians don't know the exact name. Helps to ask locals living in the area.
Super bro

From your GP. Search "doctors office" find the nearest one to your address, call or go there and ask for a medical exam for driver's licence. If they don't do it there they'll show you exactly where to go.
How long did all this take?
Medical certificate - same day
Translation - 2 weeks
License - 3 weeks

studyinhungary.hu/study-in-hungary/menu/find-a-study-programme/study-finder.html
You can find all the accredited universities here, just choose universities for which the entrance exam is oral( just an interview). Make sure to check the tuition fees ( you will have to pay the for first 2 semesters before being granted a visa and study permit)
Mind you most universities have application fees.
Good luck!
Thanks alot senior
Hi Kofi, please I would like to ask you some questions about how I can do this process. Is there anyway I can private chat you? Thanks.
