Spot on… drop this crap and the driver shortage would probably be solved over night! Just another money making scheme which makes it impossible for blokes like me to do a few shifts a month whilst fitting in with my main job.
@@Rob-on5tz I’ve had a look into it as I’m lucky to work a week on a week off in my job, I’ve spoken to an old boss about me doing some weekend work. I’ll need to do 5 days CPC, a day unpaid training and get the drivers card, so I’m around £400 down and lose 6 days before I even start earning! Then the next problem is the ridiculous Tax system we have… according to my accountant it’s probably not worth it because of the tax bill I will end up with!😡
@@PillSharks Spot on! Used to do a few weekends a year until CPC arived on the scene, not worth doing 35 hours training to do 60 ish hours driving a year.
@@keego2001 I’ve just been looking into the online CPC course, trying to book anything around my current job it impossible! When I didn’t need it I would get a phone call off my old boss and say do you fancy running a wagon up north tonight…easy as I know what I’m doing that day/night! But I can’t book the CPC because of the way my main job works, I work a week on and a week off but I could get a call on my week off at anytime. I can’t just get up in the middle of the course and piss off even know it would probably only be for 30mins. It’s madness
The reason I left the industry after 30 years I had driven nearly every type of lorry and transported nearly every type of load including tipping tanker hazardous loads low loader wide and long loads and felt completely humiliated to have to go to a classroom and be taught my job by a desk taught tutor who had never roped or sheeted a load in their life so it was too much for me
Absolutely, I totally agree with you Robert, I passed my HGV back in 1993 an drove all over for years, I was disgusted that I was going to be made to go back to school and learn all over again, just a money making exercise 😡
Just find some connections and buy the whole thing. That’s a moneymaker s*it, most of the questions are more like you will become an accountant not a driver.
Thats really sad to hear. My dad was also a class 1 driver most of his life and I've been wanting to go for it myself and he doesn't recommend it these days either. So sad that all the best, old school drivers want to leave
I'm doing my HGV class 2 at the moment on a government Apprenticeship basis. These videos are great to watch and my stumbling block so far has been Mod 1a, the multiple choice theory. 84 out of 100 twice when 85 is needed. My Mod 2 I didn't even revise much. Just 1 failed mock test, but I passed with 47. I advise against this, but so far, I'm really enjoying the process of learning and just waiting on my practical stuff now. These videos are going to be massively useful for it.
I'm currently in the proof applying to do my hgv, any tips on how I go about this. Also looking to get it government funded as finances are are so tight. Hence the change to truck driving. Thanks in advance
@@SHANECLEWS I've no idea. I work for a company that has everything from door-to-door couriers to artics. We had a guy come and offer it out to learn to drive Class 2s and I went for it. Sorry I don't have any useful info.

I'm in the process of hopefully getting my HGV class 2 class 1 license , great videos and are very clear with the information given! I'm waiting for my provisional and am looking for the right company to complete the course with! Thanks fellas!
Thank you so much Chris for the good comments. Please take the time to find that good company really do look at the reviews and it does not hurt to go and actually see them in person. Too often we hear students who have paid a lot of money to companies to then show up and there is no vehicle and no training taking place. Good luck and we hope all goes well if you have any questions please give us a call.👍👍👍👍
I'm looking at doing my Class C and C+E back to back. I have been watching your videos and think they are brilliant. I wish I was closer to you guys, I would definitely book my training with you. Unfortunately I'm over 200 miles away, up in Yorkshire. Stay safe.
Glad you like them Dale. We get more and more people book hotels and stay in the local area for their practical training! Let us know in the New Year if we could tempt you down 😃
I’ve never got the hazard perception tests. I see potential hazards all the time and drive accordingly yet still making good progress. I drove 7.5 tonne vans in the 1990s and early 2000s. This CPC nonsense is just yet another money grab
Thanks a bunch guys. All the way from Poland, as a foreigner, not so good with the Polish language but you guys kept me on track, I got to know about Apps to use and what to look out for. 28-04-2023, I passed my Class C (Theory) examination. looking forward to starting the practical training. No English teachers here where am at, but I try to grab as much as I can in Polish and later come to you guys to study here and get clarity. Thanks for the good jobs.. cheers
Thank you guys! Watching your videos really helped alot. I passed my practical and the cpc( your show me tell me video was first class) how you all deliver you videos and bounce of each other make it enjoyable and informative. Salute to you all👌🏿👌🏿💪🏿💪🏿👍🏿
Well done Mr Rose! The initial training journey has come to an end and made way for the real work to begin! Very best of luck out there and we'll keep making videos for you to enjoy 😊
I have watched few videos from you , got my provisional license class 1 , passed my theory test and hazard, being finding all the info you giving very helpful specially the modul 4 video have watched that . Thanks for the effort you putting out there for newly drivers out there . Subscribed of course 🤟
Thank you so much we are glad this information is helping. Good luck for the next parts. If you have any questions, please give us a call. Kind regards Paul.
I have watched a few of your videos and they are very informative and fun as well. I have driven all types of vehicles since I was 17 and I had a class 2 licence entitlement. I was a mechanic with buses then trucks and eventually did driving for a living. When this cpc stuff came into being I was driving a minibus for NHS and wasn’t involved with driving HGVs. at that point. My problem was that no one gave me any information whatsoever with regards to my licence and this new cpc test we had to take. Eventually I phoned DVLA and asked them what the situation was regarding me getting the cpc, I was told that I had to get it within 5years from when it started or I couldn’t work driving for a living. If I didn’t get it within that 5 years I would lose my driving entitlement for class 2. I still had no information about it and eventually they took my entitlement off my licence and I wasn’t happy but from what I had heard from others was that i5 would cost me £700 or so and a week off work so obviously there was no way I could afford this and hadn’t a clue how to go about getting it, so the licence was gone. I am really annoyed about it as I feel there was no enough information out there at the time to help drivers like myself understand this better, also when I called DVLA they were not very helpful at all and only told me that I had to get it or I would not be entitled to drive. I did enjoy my time driving during which I collected zero points and had an accident free employment. Aaargh !! I still get so upset about it all. Anyway sorry I went on a fair bit but I just wanted to say and at least let others know they were not the only drivers who were left to find out information for themselves and that the whole system for HGV drivers is a total ba*** up. Have to say though thanks to you guys folk will have somewhere they can find useful and practical information when it’s needed, keep up the good work, thank you 😁
Yip just wanting more money from you this test. just discriminates folk that are only willing to work/drive in the u.k. I don't want to know about overseas documentation etc i just want a class c license just to drive for my local council and yet getting hit with this crap.
Unpopular opinion, but i actually enjoy my CPC. I passed yesterday, had a days training, did the test, the instructor was brilliant, the examiner was lovely and I passed first time with 95% (forgot to check inside the fuel tank for drugs). We also got to practice using ratchet straps, chains and tensioners, and restraint bars, I thought it was fun I found it useful and enjoyed doing it
Done a cpc course for the whole week years ago in Southampton. The instructor said on the first day… yes this will be boring, but you need to attend so if you want to sleep or watch film on you phone carry on!!!
That really is unbelievable it really shows the unprofessionalism of some of the companies out there, thank you so much for being honest, and if it's not too much trouble please can you name and shame it's the only way we can find out who isn't doing it correctly. 👍👍👍
I see why there's a shortage of hgv drivers I'm thinking of doing my c+e but that cpc is an absolute pain it be better once you done it you won't have to do it again like the licence
You both did a fabulous job and I look forward to meeting you both as I relocate from Bermuda to London later this Oct 2020. I would like to do all my training with NDC..
Thanks fellas, i wasn't sure i understood the acquired rights but after your video it confirmed what i thought, not a lot of easy to understand info out there, thanks for the video spot on, cheers.
I pasted my class 2 October 28 /2009 I tried to do CPC theory test up to 10 times each time cost £23 still I haven’t done it it’s so complicated every time i went there deferent case and Question
I've just sent off my hgv license and waiting for my licence to arrive and I'm thinking of doing my class 2 first then hiab lorry loader straight after
I have a full licence. In a few years I want to buy a giant truck like a polish jelcz 662 (pronounced Yelch) they weigh about 10 ton. I'm going to kit it out with everything and only use it for personal use. Am I correct in thinking I just need to do a lorry theory and a lorry practical like a car and bike and avoid this CPC? Thank you gents. Have a great weekend.
Maybe it's unusual but am considering utilising the license class' I've had since 1980 to add the now required CPC. Seems possibly class 1 with ADR is the target as life now provides an opportunity to do what hasn't been possible thus far. Not sure the pay is where it needs to be yet, should be £1k for a 40hr week but, these videos sure help. Used to be a pro HGV driver could raise a 2-3 kiddies family including a pay a mortgage with a partner parenting at home, what went wrong! Never mind Brexit, seems all trades got wrecked by paper pushing becoming regarded as requiring degree! Soon, professional class 1 able to undertake crane or other equipment add-ons will be paid the £50-60k per annum?
Hello great video so far Ave served almost 14 years in the military so far and coming up for my last 2 years I have all my licences since I was 19 but don’t have my CPC do I need to do all my modules as in 1-4 or is mods 2-4 2010 when I my c and c+ e licence
All you need to take is module two (case study theory test) and module four(practical walk around test). This would be a lot quicker and potentially cheaper than doing your 35 hours. Hope this helps. If you've got any questions, please give us a call. 👍👍👍
Expat here. Seems the same as PDIC (Professional Driver Improvement Course) that is offered over here but not compulsory, it's offered by some companies as part of a new hire driver orientation. But here succesful completion will remove up to three points off your license once completed. Making people go to driving schools etc seems excessive and costly.
@@NationalDrivingCentre Looking at the pay and all the extra cost of gaining and holding a class 1 there I doubt the driver shortage will be getting any better anytime soon. I certainly won't consider coming back for that drop in standard of living.
I had to take a cpc in1990 to be promoted to transport manager but I presume it's now a totally different thing as my CPC was equally too a city' and guild level 3
Hello guys I just want to say an big Big thank you for all your videos they helped me so much I watched them over and over agen keep up the good work I was wondering if you could point me in the rite direction to becoming a cpc trainer
Thank you so much for your kind words. There are a lot of companies that you can do this course online. Alternatively contact JAUPT for your nearest centre that can provide this training. 👍👍
Great video thank you it was very helpful 👍. Quick question for you please, re: the continuation aspect of it. Is this a "test" or more an overview of any new rules and regulations etc? Also, those two lorries behind you both, are they class 2 vehicles and not 7.5ton units? I know some of them can seem quite large but still be classed as a 7.5t, many thanks indeed 👍
Thank you very much. A great question, this can come down to the person running the course. Technically there are no test on the continuation courses but the person running may through one to make the information being given is going in and to break up the course. Yes both Cat C they are plated at 13.5T a great vehicle to use for training.

Great video,I passed my test 1992 and have grandfathers rights ,after I complete all 5 CPC coarses, will I receive a new license allowing me to drive class to for a living ?
Thank you Jamie. Grandfathers rights will give you C1 (rigid vehicle not exceeding 7.5t MAM). So you would still need to apply for the provisional for category C then pass the theory and practical. Hope this helps, if you have any questions please give us a call.👍👍
Hello chaps brilliant videos u guys are really helpful. I have recently passed my theorys and my class 2 test. Iv got my mod 2? booked this month then if that goes well booking mod 4. My question is if i was to pass my mod 4 can i drive soon as i get my initial cpc card or do i have to do 35 hours cpc training before i can drive for a living? Thanks again guys for all ure videos u have helped me massivly keep it up
Good morning Chris, once you've passed your module for your past certificate as proof of this qualification and therefore you can start working. From that date your timer will then start and you have five years to amalgamate 35 hours of continuation training. These 35 hours could be done over the next five years or like some people you can leave it till four years and six months.🤣. Hope this helps if you've got any questions please give us a call.👍👍👍
No problem at all, please see the link below. www.nationaldrivingcentre.co.uk/what-you-need/ If you have any questions, please give us a call. Kind Regards Paul 👍👍👍👍
Yes there will be a difference between the LGV and PCV CPC. If you've completed some of the continuation training (35 hours) some of these can transfer to PCV. Otherwise you need to complete module two and module 44 category D1/D.👍👍👍👍
Safe driving ..now they say there scrapping reversing. And coupling and un coupling.. on the test...2 most important things..if u have a new driver going too tescos etc and he smashes the loading bay off or turning too quick taking out other trucks...who they gonna blame
Sorry now it's not gonna be scrapped altogether it will just be assessed by the Training body and not the DVSA. You will still need to complete the reversing exercise and the uncouple recoupled to the test standard. 👍👍
I have my Cat D licence back after many years and returning to be a professional driver. Before I look it up, I’d like to ask if you can recommend any decent company’s to complete my 35 hour driver CPC course ? I am based in Essex. Thank you
The best thing to do is have a look online. Nearly all of this training it's gone this way now. Much easier to find the modules that are good for you and at a fair price. 👍👍 hope this helps. Kind Regards Paul

The law has now changed and I’ve applied for my license back. There’s a few hoops to jump first. Will my acquired rights give me five years to complete the continuation training, and would I get a card at the same time I get my license Thanks for your help

Nice video, appreciate the walkthrough. Just so I'm 100% on this, I DON'T have to do 35 hours of training to initially acquire my CPC? The 35 hours is only needed to RENEW my CPC?
Just busy doing my class 1 licence and just seen your video mentioning not everyone needs a cpc, I'm currently doin my module 2 which states if driving isn't your main job you don't need one hence why you mentioned scaffolders,.I understand they transport their own goods of carriage so they are normally exempt but can I just as where would a grab wagon driver stand in the same situation, ie I dig out my own earth, supply my own stone and lay drive ways/ block paving yes it's for customers but it's also known as my business use related to that business!! So what I'm asking is grab drivers under the same grey area as scaffolders as it's within their own business use as some have told me it comes under the restricted operators licence as it's knows as use with in its own operating business ase that's what I've been reading?? Any help would be great guys and thanks in advance 👍
This can be a tricky one, Liam. Basically the customer has already bought the stone and you are removing there soil. Therefore the goods belong to them and it's not yours. In this case you would need a CPC. This is exactly the same as a grab or aggregate waste driver. I will grey area. The best thing to do is contact DVLA and have a chat with them or ping them an email just to get the correct clarification. Or better than that just get the CPC and at least you know you're covered all bases 😁😁 I hope this helps Liam, sorry we can't be more clear, but as you know the DVLA rules are not black and white 👍👍👍
@@NationalDrivingCentre yeh I appreciate what your saying it would only be for small.local work, which most builders and customers don't actually pay untill delivery has been made and as for the muck away it won't be the customers anymore as it's been taken off them, I duno if that would be correct but that's what all the local lads have been saying, I will be getting the CPC I was just quizzing this for the operators licence point of view but suppose it could fall under the CPC aswell, but as I say I've just been told that off grab drivers I've met in the area I haven't got my license yet just busy in process as we speak, Thanks for your reply
Hi guys, I plan to drive a 17-seater minibus for charity purposes. I understand that this would require a Category D license, and I've got my theory test all booked for next week including CPC. However, do I really need to obtain a Driver CPC, or am I exempt since it's for non-commercial, charitable use and can I get to obtaining full category D without it?
This would depend if the charity is running under a section 19 or 21 permit. This permit does allow certain exemptions however, the company must apply for the permit, and it's not just a verbal agreement. Double check if they are using this if not then, yes, you would need a CPC. 👍👍

Hi Guys, love your videos. Just past my class C on monday and my boss wants me to drive our scaffold lorry. Its a 3.5 tonne 7 tonne i believe fully laden. We're from Belfast and are not more than 20 miles from any of our jobs and i havn't done cpc and have been unsure if i need to. Just heard you guys bring it up in the video. Can you confirm if its something i'll need to do before driving.
So currently there are many exemptions for CPC, one of which is the Scaffolding. However, be careful with the weights of your vehicle if you're being told the vehicle is a 3.5 ton then this would more likely be a transit. However if it's a C1 with a maximum authorise mass of 7.5 ton. Because if you're saying it's a 3.5 ton, then it can't weigh 7 ton. Hope this helps. Best of luck if you've got any questions, please give us a call. Kind Regards Paul 👍👍👍
@@NationalDrivingCentre Guys thanks a lot for getting back and giving advice its very much appreciated. If I could ask one final thing. I just recieved my driver/tacho card but at this point i'm unsure if I have to use it. Most of our jobs are within 10 miles of our yard and once I land at the job our lorry would usually sit there until we are going home, we just take what we need off it. Guess i'm looking to know if I need to use the card.
Will 1 CPC say for bus licence for example cover going for Licence? Also is 1 medical required for each category of licence you apply.for I.e got one for bus and want to apply for HGV class 2?
The medical normally will stay on record with the DVLA, so yes you can contact them and they may add the category C. The CPC is broken into category C and category D so if you hold a category D CPC you will have to do extra training to achieve the category C. There are some modules, for examples manual handling that will convert to a category C from D. I hope this helps. If you have any questions please give us a call.
Yes there is a different CPC for category D and category C when you do your continuation training. However, there are some categories of training that transfer across for example, first-aid, manual handling and bits and pieces like that. 👍
i've passed the following for class D (bus) 2 part theory done obtained my driving licence. can someone very briefly tell me what else i need in order to work as a bus driver ? thank you
You will need to complete your Module 2 CPC Case studies. Once this is done you will then need to complete your Module 4 CPC. Hope this helps, If you have any questions please give a call. Kind Regards Paul 👍👍👍👍👍
@@martinhaad5702 first of all you will need to apply for the provisional entitlement for D1. If you haven't already got it. If you have your truck licence and want to get the CPC licence. Is it just the case studies and the practical tests you need to do, or do you need to do the hazard perception and theory tests aswell.
Yes, so if you already have your category C or C+E then you have two options. You can either do the case study (module two) and then the practical (module four) or you can go down the continuation route which is a 35 hours.👍👍👍
@@NationalDrivingCentre okay thank you, the video made it seem like you have to do the two tests. Case studies test And the Practical ( physical walk around with questions) I passed my cat c test early 2019 meaning I’d need to do the 35 hours aswell , as I got the licence after they brung out the CPC
Does anyone know where I stand, 9 years ago I passed my hgv and cpc.. dvla revoked my license cause of a previous head injury, however they have just given me it back. Will I need to do a cpc initial or 35 hours over 5 modules? Cheers
Yes . Jordan we should be able to do 35 hours. If you're in any doubt contact the DVLA and they will be able to inform you it may be a bit of a wait but you'll get the correct information. 👍👍
Hi guys thanks for all your videos they’ve been a great help I passed my theory in august 2022 . It’s a government funded course I’m still waiting for my practical lessons I feel 9 months since passing is a massive gap from learning the theory I’ve forgotten most of what I’ve learned and no longer have access to dts I’m slightly worried I’ll fail when they eventually get me on practical training any idea what I could do from now until then? Sorry probably don’t make sense
No trouble whatsoever. Yes, there are many people in the same position. Best thing to do is keep reading your highway code, staying on top of all the basic rules like Lane, discipline and indications. So often people come on course, without any basic knowledge and the last time they done the training was when they passed their car test. 👍👍👍👍 if you got any problems or questions, please give us a call. Did you get your driving training yet? I am also doing what your doing and gave up hope I would hear from them in the end, then they came tru ptf done my training and test , I passed with 4 minors the other guy failed, he swiped the side on the way out of the test center, only need the CPC and iam done, hope yours in going well and if you've not done it by now it very close , good luck
This is a very good point Mo, and it's one of the hardest things about the CPC. There isn't really a good company out there that will give you the case studies and the answer is to go with them the key thing we like to inform our students is to read the CPC book and understand the theory behind that I know that sounds very easy for us to say but a lot of the questions can be just common sense. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞Good luck with the revision and don't give up
Hi, I’m planning on getting a class 1 LGV license after doing coach driving for a year , but I am not planning on driving the lorry in service I just want to get the license do I still need to do case studies ?
No, if you just want the License then just complete the module 1, 3a and 3b. But just remember you will not be able to drive a Cat C or C+E for a company. 👍👍👍
Hi I’ve got my bus license and my CPC for that. But at the moment I’m going through my HGV tests and I’ve passed my mod 2 and mod 4 a few days ago. I know the card doesn’t turn up for 20 days but do I need to do another 35 hours or will I just receive the card with the same expire dates as the bus one?
Good morning Liam, no it will not be the same time, you're five years will start from the day you passed your module 4 test from that date. You will then have five years to complete your 35 hours of continuation training. 👍👍👍
Sorry not linked to the video I really wanted to drive a HGV class 1 for a career I have a few company’s in mind but there is a lot of negative feelings about lorry driving in the comments, would you recommend it as a career?
It's a very good question Joshua and one that cropped up a lot. When we hear those negative comments about the pay and conditions for HGV drivers the very first comment they write is "I've been doing this for 20 to 30 years" so my question is to them if it's so bad why do they do it? there must be a reason🧐 but they tend not to answer when I ask this question. If you wanted to come down for your free assessment just to see what it's like behind the wheel then by all means feel free.👍👍 if you have any questions at all please give us a call.
Did u find out the answer? I'm a bit confused, but I think the 4 stages are hazard perception, the 100 theory questions, the cpc theory and the cpc practical.
I'm planning on definately doing my C1, however I also sent off for a Cat C provisional at the same time. Is it worth wanting to do your Cat C licence even if your not interntionally wanting to go into the industry.?? Can you do the CPC after you've done your Cat C test.?? Thanks
I haven’t driven HGV (that’s how long ago it was) but now want to get back into it. I have an old class 1 artic license but presumably just need a medical as I’m over 50 to reactivate it?
Thank you so much. This would be a Category C1, to find out the procedure and what to do next please have a look at our web site. Hope this helps and good luck.
Hello Its a good video I've passed my CPC in Spain I have uk full driver license do I need to exchange my CPC card or do I need to ask for UK one? Or do I need to study for a new CPC? Thank you
You may be able to carry out a conversion. Best thing to do is contact the DVLA however to carry out the 35 hours it's going to be your best bet rather than doing the module two and module four. It will be a lot cheaper and quicker. If you've got any questions please give us a call.👍👍
I am bus driver and just passed my lorry licance which test I need to do and where to convert my bus cpc to lorry? Can't find exact answer, everyone just saying conversion test but what is it??
When you book the module 2 test on the DVSA site they will list a module 2 or a module 2 conversion. Book the module two is a conversion, once this is past you can then do your module 4 practical checks.
Good morning Tahirullah, a very good question we provide to our students included in our price DTS any time this seems to be one of the best ones I've ever used there is some great videos great mock questions and seems to be one of the greats. Hope this helps good luck and stay safe. 👍👍👍👍
do i need my licence before cpc 35 hours training? have passed theory, hazard and case studys but have not passed my driving test yet. looking to get ob the road as soon as possible
Yes, no problem at all however you would not be able to work until you've got it. But yes, this is not unusual if you want to focus on obtaining the license first then get that done and out the way and you can always do the CPC later.👍👍
At the moment we are using DTS any time. It appears to be one of the good ones as they're not just mock questions and tests on there but videos as well for Training.👍
i have been out of the country for 11 years and have no returned to the UK i have had my class to for about 20 years now and my UK tacho card has expired . Do i need to have a new tacho card to sit the cpc or can i sit the test with my old card while my new card is being processed ?
You can complete the CPC without a Tacho card because there is no driving involved for either part of the CPC whether you do the 35 hours or the Module 2 and then the module 4. So you can apply for it later.
With in the 5 years you will complete the 35 hours of continuous training. This could be done in the house (at Home) or by your employer, and range from multiple different types of courses from manual handling, first-aid to drivers hours. Once you've passed your module two and four, you could start doing this straight away. If you go onto the government website and "check my driving license" it will tell you how many modules you've completed so far. Hope this helps 👍👍👍
Good morning Sean, Thank you for your question. As long as there is 101 code on the reverse side of you card next to the C1 then you can take the module 2 conversion and then a module 4. If you have any questions then please give us a call.
I have received my cpc card, but when I try to register it says I don't have any training record yet. Should it not show the training I went thru prior to passing and receiving my cpc card.
Unfortunately not when you get your first CPC card this is proof that you have done the initial CPC so obviously your training record won't state that you have done anything to gain the 35 hours. Once you start completing the modules this will then start to show on that record.
That's a very good question Edmund thank you. Yes you would need to pass a category D or D1 before the DVSA issues the card, you can of course pass the test whether that be through the module 2 and module 4 or doing the continuation training. We hope this helps good luck if you have any questions please give us a call.👍👍👍👍
Just want to clarify something here. I have my LGV Multiple Choice booked for December, if passed (hopefully) will I be able to learn to drive and get my full C2 and C1 license then do the CPC after I am licensed? Thanks Nathan
Hi Nathan, I'm sure you'll be fine, lots of time for revision until then! We would recommend doing all theories, including CPC before you do your practical course. So book the CPC too! You don't want to pass the driving test, be excited to get going and then have to go back to the theory books and CPC practical. Revision > Theory tests x 3 > Practical course > New job!
hi just a quick question, so i i got my first cpc in 2018, and i left my bus driving job in 2020. My cpc is still valid till 2023 (on the card it says) , eventhough i have only done 2 cpc courses in the span of time. so does that mean in reality my CPC is no longer valid? please just a quick yes or no, although i would appreciate a longer answer. either way thanks in advanced.
Yes your current CPC card for category D is still valid until 2023. If you pop online to the government website it will tell you how many courses you have achieved up to this point, so you will need to continue your training to keep the card valid after that date.👍
i have already passed hgv cpc module 2 and module 4. my question is about periodic cpc. could someone kindly answer. i dont want to spend 5 days and money to do it again as i hold valid pcv periodic cpc.
I’m in the process of doing my hgv licence but it’s such a confusing process and hard to find info online I have completed my medical and theory and hazard perception do I now move onto the cpc or case studies?
There are a number of exemptions from CPC but the basic rule is if you're carrying other peoples goods you're going to need one. Thank you so much for your comment.👍
Question guys... I currently drive coaches and my cpc is fine and up to date etc. Now, I passed my HGV test back in 2010 but the entitlement isn't on my cpc card. So would I be right in thinking that I would need to complete modules 2 and 4 to gain entitlement? This cpc stuff is a bit of a minefield! Thanks for any info.
Unfortunately a CPC is required to earn a living driving a lorry. Was hoping all UK domestic Drivers would not need one as it is EU driven legislation. Does having a CPC make you a better driver ?
Yes. Depending on what subject you are being taught and who is teaching you knowledge is key. Anyone who thinks they know everything about the industry and how to drive the vehicle has a closed mind set this can be very dangerous especially when you have new rules and regulations being passed. Thank you for your comment questions and input.👍👍
That's why there's a driver shortage. CPC should be done once only by new passes.
Drivers have it hard enough out there .
Spot on… drop this crap and the driver shortage would probably be solved over night!
Just another money making scheme which makes it impossible for blokes like me to do a few shifts a month whilst fitting in with my main job.
I concur, I'm coming back to haulage after a long time away, and i'm finding all this new legislation a bloody minefield to cross.
Then the next problem is the ridiculous Tax system we have… according to my accountant it’s probably not worth it because of the tax bill I will end up with!😡
@@PillSharks
Spot on!
The reason I left the industry after 30 years I had driven nearly every type of lorry and transported nearly every type of load including tipping tanker hazardous loads low loader wide and long loads and felt completely humiliated to have to go to a classroom and be taught my job by a desk taught tutor who had never roped or sheeted a load in their life so it was too much for me
Thank you so much for your comment.

Did you manage to get on the work force once you got class 2? and are you still doing it

Let us know in the New Year if we could tempt you down 😃
you know if you you do c+e you auto get you c aswell
I’ve never got the hazard perception tests. I see potential hazards all the time and drive accordingly yet still making good progress. I drove 7.5 tonne vans in the 1990s and early 2000s. This CPC nonsense is just yet another money grab
Thank you so much for your comment.👍

Do you do the test all on computer mate ?
Have to say though thanks to you guys folk will have somewhere they can find useful and practical information when it’s needed, keep up the good work, thank you 😁
Thank you so much for your comment.
Could you tell me what I need to get LGV license?could you tell me the step?
The CPC is a complete waste of time. 90% of the things taught a driver does not need to know. A totally unnecessary expense for the driver.
@The Black Baron 100 pounds an hour, done deal.
Thank you so much for your comment.
It's looting middle class man have no money no job no house and cpc mess
Yip just wanting more money from you this test. just discriminates folk that are only willing to work/drive in the u.k. I don't want to know about overseas documentation etc i just want a class c license just to drive for my local council and yet getting hit with this crap.
Great money spinner isn't it?.
Unpopular opinion, but i actually enjoy my CPC.
I passed yesterday, had a days training, did the test, the instructor was brilliant, the examiner was lovely and I passed first time with 95% (forgot to check inside the fuel tank for drugs).
We also got to practice using ratchet straps, chains and tensioners, and restraint bars, I thought it was fun
I found it useful and enjoyed doing it
Thank you so much, and a big well done, Great job 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for your comment.👍

Hi just to be certain you have to do the regular hgv theory test and the cpc theory aswell.
Yes, regular theory, hazard & cpc 👍
Hello I have just passed my theory and hazard perception just a little unsure of what the next route is after that. many thanks
The Next step for us would be to bring you in for your free assessment to see how many days you would need in the category of vehicle you need. 👍👍👍

I've just sent off my hgv license and waiting for my licence to arrive and I'm thinking of doing my class 2 first then hiab lorry loader straight after
This sounds like a plan Chris.👍👍👍
I have a full licence.
In a few years I want to buy a giant truck like a polish jelcz 662 (pronounced Yelch) they weigh about 10 ton.
I'm going to kit it out with everything and only use it for personal use.
Am I correct in thinking I just need to do a lorry theory and a lorry practical like a car and bike and avoid this CPC? Thank you gents.
Have a great weekend.
Yes just a Cat C then No CPC for personal use.
I have a National and international CPC and still had to have drivers CPC had enough and gave it all up .
Thank you so much for your input.👍
Thank you so much for your comment.👍
Any news on the Driver CPC changes coming ?
After many years , I’m returning to be a professional driver, but I read things are set to change.
Nothing as of yet. There are always talks but nothing at the moment 👍👍
Thanks for the insight, where is 'here'?

Looking at the pay and all the extra cost of gaining and holding a class 1 there I doubt the driver shortage will be getting any better anytime soon. I certainly won't consider coming back for that drop in standard of living.
I had to take a cpc in1990 to be promoted to transport manager but I presume it's now a totally different thing as my CPC was equally too a city' and guild level 3

@@NationalDrivingCentre Hi, thank you very much for your reply 👍. Right, I see that makes sense yes. Your vehicles look great and the site looks really good too, keep up the great work chaps 👍👍
Thank you so much👍👍👍
If I passed my cat c, do I only need to do a case study and the walk around ?
Yes once you have your Category C you would then need to pass your Module 2 (case study) and then your Module 4 (walk around).

Do you need to do a new cpc and theory and medical going from hgv to buses?

@@NationalDrivingCentre yeh I appreciate what your saying it would only be for small.local work, which most builders and customers don't actually pay untill delivery has been made and as for the muck away it won't be the customers anymore as it's been taken off them, I duno if that would be correct but that's what all the local lads have been saying, I will be getting the CPC I was just quizzing this for the operators licence point of view but suppose it could fall under the CPC aswell, but as I say I've just been told that off grab drivers I've met in the area I haven't got my license yet just busy in process as we speak,
Thanks for your reply
Hi guys, I plan to drive a 17-seater minibus for charity purposes. I understand that this would require a Category D license, and I've got my theory test all booked for next week including CPC. However, do I really need to obtain a Driver CPC, or am I exempt since it's for non-commercial, charitable use and can I get to obtaining full category D without it?
This would depend if the charity is running under a section 19 or 21 permit. This permit does allow certain exemptions however, the company must apply for the permit, and it's not just a verbal agreement.
Double check if they are using this if not then, yes, you would need a CPC.

I want to pass my lorry license so i can drive a skip lorry (I believe the skip lorry i want to drive is an 18Tonne one)
Im unsure which category it is I’m alleged its c1+e
I passed my driving licence (Category B) on the 14 aug 2009
Iv researched online and says apply for D2 & D4 forms
get a doctor to sign my d4 form and fill in d2 form send them both off
Apply for my taco
After that the gov.uk site says
Next stage is
4 parts CpC
Part 1 theory
Part 2 case studys
Part 3 driving abilities
Part 4 practical demonstration
Also says on the gov.uk site
If you passed your initial driving licence before 10 sep 2009 you are entitled to acquired rights which means you would only have to sit 2 out of the 4 parts of the cpc test
Which in my case as i passed before 10 sep 2009
I would only have to do
Part 2
Part 4
After completing them stages whats next to do ?
Im getting mixed answers from lorry drivers saying
Cpc is only a part of the lorry licence some people re saying then you nees to pass the LGV practical etc etc
Can you help me please

Hello all. Looking for help. I am 55. Got my car license in 1984. Want to do my class 2 before I do class 1. Done my medical. Sent license off/got back OK. Now I booked my theory and hazard perception tests online via the DVSA site, but I cannot book my Case studies test. It doesn't give me that option. Does anyone know why this option isn't available?. Any advice would be very welcome.
Thank you so much for your comment.
Hi..can you explain what the class of vehicles on the back of the uk drive qualification card mean....and what number 9 means on the front of the card..
Thank you so much for your comment.
I have passed my conversion cpc ( already hold cpc for psv) yesterday, and there was 10 case studies, 5 questions in each needed 40 to pass ........
This is news to us! Even the DVSA on this link still say 7 Case studies! www.gov.uk/become-lorry-bus-driver/driver-cpc-part-2-case-studies-test

Can I give practical Reversing test module 3 and practical demonstration test module 4 on the same exam day?
are each module given on different days?

Great work on the CPC test. It would be unusual to do both on the same day as the 3A needs to be logged on the DVLA website. 👍
@@NationalDrivingCentre Yea its a "C1" Daf LF flat bed, does this fall into the exemption catagory.
@@elimpoetdunster yes as a scaffolder, you do not need a CPC at the moment however do keep an eye on legislation just in case there are any changes.
Hello,I have c+e license and cpc.now I'm going for Pcv.do i need different cpc for get d license?thanks
Yes there is a different CPC for category D and category C when you do your continuation training. However, there are some categories of training that transfer across for example, first-aid, manual handling and bits and pieces like that. 👍
Hi guys I have CPC for buss drive and I want to be lorry driver I need new CPC for lorry
Yes there are two separate category’s PCV (D) and LGV (C). So to drive LGV you would need to complete a CPC for this category.
i've passed the following for class D (bus)
2 part theory done
obtained my driving licence.
can someone very briefly tell me what else i need in order to work as a bus driver ?
thank you
You will need to complete your Module 2 CPC Case studies. Once this is done you will then need to complete your Module 4 CPC.
Hope this helps, If you have any questions please give a call.
Kind Regards Paul 👍👍👍👍👍
@@NationalDrivingCentre thanks for the reply, if i want to drive a minibus D1. which test do i need to undertake, ? for carrying passengers? thank you
@@martinhaad5702 first of all you will need to apply for the provisional entitlement for D1. If you haven't already got it. Hi Matthew, not quite sure we understand? Are you looking for specific Module 4 content? If so, check this out! 👍🏼 ruclips.net/video/SgkPI4ASTtE/видео.html
If we understand correctly, then yes you can once you have the Category C/ C1 entitlement on your licence.

I passed my cat c test early 2019 meaning I’d need to do the 35 hours aswell , as I got the licence after they brung out the CPC
Hi, guys! Please, I'd like to ask you if I could validate my spanish initial CAP course (HGV & buses), for the english initial CPC. Thanks!
This is something you would have to take up the DVSA you can only convert your EU license for full UK entitlements.👍
I applied for HGV but I recently got a different colour driving license not sure if they would allow me to do the theory test for HGV with it
The license have changed recently. so all is well.👍👍

I can’t seem to pass my cpc module 2. I don’t know where i can revise it. Everywhere i revise for it the answer never come up on the test.

Hello, is the 100 theory questions and hazard perception part of the CPC or does the CPC contain 4 different tests? Many thanks
Did u find out the answer?
I'm a bit confused, but I think the 4 stages are hazard perception, the 100 theory questions, the cpc theory and the cpc practical.

Does CPC have its own theory test that needs to be passed above the normal theory test? So two theory tests??

So the case studies are part of the module two exam similar to a theory test.👍
Hello Its a good video
I've passed my CPC in Spain I have uk full driver license do I need to exchange my CPC card or do I need to ask for UK one? Or do I need to study for a new CPC?

You may be able to carry out a conversion. Best thing to do is contact the DVLA however to carry out the 35 hours it's going to be your best bet rather than doing the module two and module four. It will be a lot cheaper and quicker.
If you've got any questions please give us a call.👍👍
I am bus driver and just passed my lorry licance which test I need to do and where to convert my bus cpc to lorry?
Can't find exact answer, everyone just saying conversion test but what is it??
When you book the module 2 test on the DVSA site they will list a module 2 or a module 2 conversion. Book the module two is a conversion, once this is past you can then do your module 4 practical checks.

do i need my licence before cpc 35 hours training? have passed theory, hazard and case studys but have not passed my driving test yet. looking to get ob the road as soon as possible
Yes you would need a driving license to complete your CPC.👍👍
So you get a license to drive a particular vehicle, then you need more tests for the license you got to be any good. What kind of idiocy is this?
National shortage of drivers and they wonder why this cpc shit! Drivers tax I'd renew my class one if wasn't for this crap
That's the government for you 😊
Can I do my cpc at a later date arfter I’ve got my class 2
Yes, no problem at all however you would not be able to work until you've got it. But yes, this is not unusual if you want to focus on obtaining the license first then get that done and out the way and you can always do the CPC later.👍👍
I want to start my HGV theory test what is the best app to use for learning ?
Once the mod 2 & 4 are passed do you need to complete the 35hours or do you have 5 years to complete it
With in the 5 years you will complete the 35 hours of continuous training.
I have a license drive uk category: C & Tacho card since 2007. I would like to know how much the CPC of 35 hrs costs.
Thank you!
Hi Andetom8, best thing to do is google 'cpc training' and your area and the best local company will come up 👍🏼
Hi, Already have a CPC for my bus job and have C1 entitlement on my driving license how do I add C1 to my CPC card?
Good morning Sean, Thank you for your question. As long as there is 101 code on the reverse side of you card next to the C1 then you can take the module 2 conversion and then a module 4. If you have any questions then please give us a call.
@@NationalDrivingCentre no 101 code on the C1 part have it after the D1 only dont mind what I need to pass just not sure which ones to take
I have received my cpc card, but when I try to register it says I don't have any training record yet.
If you have a class c licence would you automatically be able to drive c1 type vehicles?
Yes. Everything below that maximum weight within the Category C you could drive
Do I need to pass driving test to get my bus cpc card if I hav a truck cpc card

Just want to clarify something here.
I have my LGV Multiple Choice booked for December, if passed (hopefully) will I be able to learn to drive and get my full C2 and C1 license then do the CPC after I am licensed?

Hi Nathan,
I'm sure you'll be fine, lots of time for revision until then! We would recommend doing all theories, including CPC before you do your practical course. So book the CPC too! You don't want to pass the driving test, be excited to get going and then have to go back to the theory books and CPC practical.
Revision > Theory tests x 3 > Practical course > New job!

Yes your current CPC card for category D is still valid until 2023. If you pop online to the government website it will tell you how many courses you have achieved up to this point, so you will need to continue your training to keep the card valid after that date.👍
