A beautiful pillow! I didn't do this at the time because I didn't think I could cut & sew it well. Then #RockCandyQuiltSAL came along & a friend made me buy the sidekick use my hoarded Tula fabric & away we go! Thanks for everything you do 😍🤩
Unfortunately we don't have video of the quilting & finishing for the pillows. We do have some posts on Instagram @NebulaSewAlong with information from Teresa Silva of Quilting Is My Bliss about how she quilted a set of Candy Dish pillows Julie sent to her.
I am looking forward to sewing this. ❤ I have decided to make my pillow cover a bit larger so I still need to cut a few more pieces and trim my triangle points.
@@jaybirdquilts Delayed cutting out extra pieces due to working on stuff for nephew and his family. Also, I decided to make it double sided. As each side will be 5.5 hexagons, I am making a single piece 11 hexagons plus overlap long and 4 rows high. I will get LOTS of quilting practice. 😉🤣
They are Tula Pink Hardware pins. Ask for them at independent quilt shops. You can get them from Pink Door Fabrics: www.pinkdoorfabrics.com/products/tula-pink-hardware-unicorn-head-straight-pins-tppins
Wow, another great video Julie! Thanks for such clear directions!! I also selected a less-traditional fabric for my hexagons...cotton seersucker...and I’ll be interested to know if it is stretchier than quilting cotton just like the cotton sateen you used. I think I would have liked to starch my strips before cutting my triangles because I rotated them for pattern placement. But that’s what’s so fun about this journey is the *learning* we experience as we build our skills. 🤩
@@jaybirdquilts the seersucker was a little “wiggly” on piecing. I think it would have been easier if I had starched it before sewing. I haven’t quilted it yet, but I’ll let you know how the finished product is. 😉
I made my Candy Dish into a quilt 47x60. Now I want to add a 3 inch border all around. So I need to trim off the peaks and square it up. Looks like I’m taking the tips off my hexagons no matter what. Any suggestions?

Wonderful! How did it work out making the pillow cover larger?

@@maggiehallinan1771 Good to know! Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video! I jot down your tips on the paper pattern to help me remember for the next time I make the project 😉
That's an excellent idea! Thanks for sharing. The videos will always be here, too. So you can refer back to the videos in the future, too.
How would you make it bigger for baby blanket
Consider that the pillow panel is like a 16" finished block. If you make 4 of them you'll get a 32" x 32" baby quilt. Hope that helps.
Love the fussy cutting

You would have to add extra fabric before trimming to avoid this.
