- Tactical Angler Power Clip: This is the fastest simplest and most secure way to attach your line to lure. (Get em here bit.ly/TAclips )
In this review I go over the results of a range of strength tests covering multiple brands and styles. Certain steps that should be taken before attaching certain plugs.
And show you a tremendous variety of baits using clips of varying sizes. In an effort to remove any guesswork when it comes to choosing the proper sizes.
Not just a glorified paper clip....well kinda...But they'll enable you to be more efficient with your time on the water. No more trimming back and retying leaders after a few lure changes. And no fussing with snaps and latches when rapid changes need to be made.......And do it headache free even while wearing gloves in the nastiest of conditions.

Tactical Angler Power clip bulk packs amzn.to/2SeKBvP
This was very informative, thank you for your video! Take my like
Io
@Stay Ready definitely, these would work for pike and muskies. Together with wire leader if you like. Smaller sizes for bass too.
They will not replace swivels, TA clips and swivels have different puropses. Also, i am not concerned with loosing plugs to fish with these clips, i am confident that this is very unlikely. Unless you are using the clip he showed on the right in the beginning of the video, in which he demostrated a flaw that can lose plugs.
Hi...just want your opinion if it's ok to attached a barrel swivel to TACTICAL ANGLER'S Power Clips..Thanks!
@@peterlagapa4981 I don't I'd rather the swivel be up the line
I use similar clips for my crankbait fishing. Breaking strength isn't a concern but lure action is. These are new brands I didnt know of. Thanks for the vid. I really enjoyed it!
Great video took 3 years to find me but this stuff is relevant now than and forever until someone invents a new swivel clip etc.
Thank you very much for your time.
I really needed this info! I am experimenting with the 50b clips in Louisiana for inshore fishing.
This video gave me a lot of experience with little work.
Thanks again for your time putting this together for us.
Tight lines!
Joe Bleaux drink every time hes says "clip".
Love using clips like this. I lost too many big pike on the Coast Lock style from them opening up. I use a piece of clear tubing to slide down over this style of clip to make sure the bait isn't worked free while fighting a fish...it happened a couple times but i'm using a different brand, so I'm going to give this brand a try and the bulk pack is a great price.
Good video! Was going to buy the Norman fast clips, but now I am buying this!
Nice job, I use snaps a lot as well I've seen these but never thought twice, i'll have to check them out great video.
Thank you for share your testing with us, you absolute right, off with those splitrings
What a great video , loved all the info.i use the clips but only in certain circumstances but after watching this I think I will be using the a lot more often.thank for the video.
Allan
Good job answering questions I never thought to ask
Fantastic video. Really appreciate you taking the time to share this. I’m new to clips and it helped a lot!
Really enjoyed your video , I've used these clips for several years and have been very pleased with them , actually never tried the larger clips I usually do lakes , ponds etc.
On your transporting the Backlash clips , try using a large safety pin instead of fishing line , that way you can remove as needed and you don't have to return every time .
Thanks again for the information 😊 I appreciate anyone who can help me be a better fisherman .👍.
(Sorry if some words are misspelled or letters in wrong place , I'm almost bilind , and these letters are small) 🤭. 🖐️ Later !
Excellent tutorial, I do use a safety pin for for clip storage. and I also use the safety pin to keep my hoos organised.
You have amazing collection of lures
Probably the best title of a RUclips video I've ever seen haha.. Great content man, appreciate it
Quality videos man. Keep up the good work!
One of the channels I’m actually frothing about the content 👍
Hope you grow big
Great bump Scoob - really enjoy the videos!
Thanks bro!! Figured...why not do a vid on fancy paperclips..lol I know whenever i try a new clip or ring...i never know what size to get for the first go around
Excellent! ordered 75s and 125s to add to my 50s and 150s. Even ordered 3 lucky craft 95 wanderers - hard to find! had to order from France for an upcoming amberjack trip. They look deadly, got the pink, chartreuse, mackerel and ghost sardine all in lazer finish, psyched! Thx so much, very professional demonstration, subscribing now. Great format dont change a thing.
I know this is very old. I have watched it several times.
I like using the Clips. I have supplemented the Clip with a short piece of Mackerel Feather Tubing over the Clip. It might add not anything but it is the perceived confidence factor that the Clip is more resistant to opening..
Steve
Love the TA clips. U should do a review on the fastash.
Very informative video.. You covered all the flows possible ...I will keep following your videos. Excellent, thanks Sy
Hey Sy, I'm glad you found it informative. I think the hardest part of putting this vid together was how hard I was laughing at myself thinking.....AM I really going to spend my day filming a glorifided paperclip.
But they really are a great product. And compared to the others out there. Cover the widest range of use and very consistent.
I've been considering using these clips, this is good info. I am a habitual lure changer and retie my leader often, I may give these a shot.
They're worth using. Very reliable and consistent. THe gent who owns Tactical Anglers (Crazy Alberto Knie) is a true Fishermen know for his ability to frequently catch giants!!! Not only that but over the years has helped many in their efforts as well. One of the good guys!
Just great stuff. Thank you and I really appreciate your time and knowledge
+Wil Martin thanks Wil glad you enjoyed it
Outstanding video and information. Thank you for the thoroughness and effort.
Enjoyed video. Nice to watch someone who knew what he was talking about.
Great video man, I would like to add my experience with a ta clips. I was using 50 lb clips for everything, till I was in jetty country and got snagged on a rock with my ss needle fish. I was able to free the plug, but after close look at the clip, saw it bent out a bit. I was able to bend it back with pliers, and catch a few fish over 30 in. with no problem. But that made me switch to the 75 lb clip, with no issues till I started pencil popping with loaded cotton Cordells. After 5 fish on a 6 inch Cordell, I noticed the lip of the plug chewed up bad, from the clip, still caught fish but made start tying a loop knot for that plug. Another important note is the knot that you use to tie your leader to the clip. I highly recommend a single line knot, double lined knots, like the Palomar knot have been known to slip cause the double line doesnt seat in the point of the clip. And when a fish bites, destroys the clip easily, or cast offs. I use a uni knot for clips cause it is almost impossible to tie wrong in wind and darkness, and gets tighter with every pull and is probably the strongest single lined knot that can be tied with any pound test, just changing the the # of turns in the knot, more with lower pound test, less with higher pound test. Hope this comment helps, this video answered a few questions I had, greatly appreciated.
does the 75lb fit through the guides?
I love the uni as well simple and reliable
this is a fundamental change in fishing for me, thank you.
I found it very useful. I been wonder about this "clips". Thank You
I like the way the lure planes to the side on top in slow current realing slow that’s when I get most of my big fish
Great stuff as usual!
Very helpful video as i was about to purchase some clips👍
Verry nice and informational video, thank you!
I want to se a rewiew of locks for small baits in the next video :)
Greetings from Finland.
Amazing review and demonstration
you are the best !!!!! thanks for making this awesome video
Thanks. Great videos. very informative
It's appreciated.
Nice info.....learned a lot. Ty
I only use them in saltwater, for large lures etc.. thanks for good information 🐟
use these all the time, best clips!
i use the 50lb TA clips and mustad fastach for inshore fishing. Both are great.
For big game I use solid rings and attach them to the lures split ring. Takes more effort and pliers but it's just 100x more stronger.
I need to try this idea, smaller more compact, no weak points, no accidental unsnapping or opening of snaps, thanks for the great idea.
@@tabutog 😊
Great information, thank you !
stop making me buy stuff with you awesome reviews!!! :)
Butt hurt 😭 lol
i`ve been looking for a video like this for years now , thanks for your effort , and happy fishing :v
Great review. Much needed info.
I love the sarcasm
Great review!
thanks for posting - good, informative video! I have been looking into this type of clip as I am been using snap type since I started fishing. I like the ability to quickly switch out baits vs tying direct. However, I know there is some debate as to tying direct vs using hardware. Folks tying direct argue that once you get used to it, its as fast as using a clip or snap. They also say hardware like a clip weights your lure down creating an unnatural presentation (for example, with topwater lures). I'll likely explore with clips but just wanted your take on that debate.
Also, wasnt clear from the video but do you tie a swivel to your main line then leader then the clip (looks like a improved clinch knot to the clip)? Thanks!
Hello I need to buy some fishing swivels and I came across your channel 👍
Do this fishing clip📎 are good for jig haed hooks as well and for spinner baits and
Great video. I never fast click until I got an email from Ross Bain. So I will buy some.
Thanks for tips and explanation
I use the clips. And have yet to have one break, or lose a fish. And I use the smallest one with no issues...perhaps a bit harder because I have larger hands. But way easier and less time than re-tying or o-rings
Do a review on the spro snaps as well as the prime snap
NICE - COMPLETE and informative video, but,
I would have liked to see more closely,
HOW-TO install install and remove.
I definitely will buy and try. Thank you.!!!!
This is an awesome video. It has helped a lot.
Glad it helped!
I'm not a newbie and I don't use swivels but I occasionally use snaps. They're very good especially on a plugging reel where are you want to prospect by quickly changing out plugs and lures. I tried the Tactical Anglers clips I like the mechanism but the diameter of the wiring is too big for lot of hook eyes.
Great design, nice and compact, but you need to use a wire material that lets you get that same strength with a much smaller diameter.
Great informative video! Just subscribed.
Great video
Nice video you make!
Excellent video, convinced me to purchase a pair of the bulk packs of 50 & 75 lb clips. Thanks for your efforts.
Need to test the new Spro clips when they come out this fall!!!!
I like to use a high speed trolling swivel connected to a 75lb anglers clip, when using braid while surf casting it helps line twist a LOT , especially since I like a crazy Alberto knot to connect my braid to Fluro leader
The Nutnfancy of fishing. Thank you!
Good info my man
Great video thanks for the time
Very informative
Thanks a ton
thats a lot of work thank you
thank you been looking for better clips had many break, twist . or just bend fail .
Great video man! Could you do a video on trying knots with nanofil? I have 4lb nanofil on my trout setup and it's impossible to tie. Literally tried every knot people have recommend and none of them hold. The ones that do break off on light hook sets. Thank you if you cane.
TA... You & I are some of the very few anglers out there, who could easily extol the virtues of using the Tactical Angler Power Clips for half an hour... LOL!
I definitely got a good laugh over this!!!!! If I didn't edit out all the other plugs and comparisions...it would have been 2 hours..lmao
Grandpa won or placed highly in many fishing derbys, he taught me to always hand tie plugs and lures.. Clips/snaps or spinners weigh down the front end of the lure changing the balance, movement and depth of the lure.
I can't name a single lure that I've fished over the years outside of some in the jig or shad category which would be negatively effected by using a small/ appropriately sized clip in place of a split ring.
Great review, which size do you recommend for up to 0.375 lb lures (swimbaits, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, all pike lures...)? 75lb or 125lb?
Ordered these clips because of this video. I recently went stocked rainbow trout fishing in a reservoir. I changed my spinners a lot because nothing was working and my clip got bent up and was no good anymore. Decided to look for something strong. Hopefully it works for me
I've become friends with Alberto from TA...lovely human being he is....That said...For freshwater trout fishing.....I use mustad fastach clips...His micro clip is a little too large for ultra light....I still swear by his clips for saltwater...
Nomura Quick Link is the best snap/clip that you can use. It gives similar strenght as clip and lure freedom as snap
VERYN GOOD VIDEO THANK YOU
Great info
Really got into the Mustang Fastach lately...love it...you should try it...
Mustad not Mustang...hate auto correct
For FW all around...I've been 100% fully invested in them for about 3 years or longer....whatever year it was they came out..I made the switch. Size 0 and size 1's. Best clip ever made for the small stuff...I've pulled the rings off 99% of my fw lures and if i don't have a fastach..i'm screwed because tying tight to the eye is no bueno...Never once had them fail either..i use em with jigs and worms too!.. I've tried them and compared them to decoy spiral snaps, welded owner duolock, the spros, norman speed clips even the 50lb ta clip...ETC....the size 0 and 1 fastach is the best of them all..one of the only mustad products that's any good it seems.
Excellent, informative video. I love the tactical angler clip
What if you want to use a swivel as well either between the clip and leader or leader and line ... have you used this ? would this be needed to prevent line twist ? thanxs . great video
Would it be possible to pair the 50lb clip with a ball bearing swivel? I'm thinking it would be great to replace the snap part of the swivel but not sure because the ends of the clip are not round.
Good job
Thanks a billion 💪👀🙏
Just bought me some to take on my next Amazon trip... It is Amazing how some well known manufactures fool u with the lb ratings they publish on snaps, split rings... Lost loads of trophy by trusting that garbage.... Always do a pull test on your tackle guys!
Great tip , can these clips be use on soft bait or live
Great info.. Thanks alot buddy 👍👍
What knot do you use to attach clips and leader? My leader is usually braid (power pro) 15lb, to fluorocarbon (vanish) 8lb!
Is it advisable to connect a swivel to the ring for the minnow lure?
Thanks as always for sharing your experience and knowledge. I use Mustad Fastach clips which seem to test pretty close to the pack. Have you tried those?
NO problem man!!!1 Glad ya enjoy it.....For Freshwater the fastach clips are literally all i use....swimbaits I'll use others sometimes...but 90 percent of the time I use size 0 and 1. And have now after using every damn cip on the market......never had a failure but ocasionally I'll get a size 1 that isn't bent right........the best product mustad makes in my opinion outside their kvd hooks.
Lucky Craft minnows 110 -115 - 130 lures are super popular with West coast surf anglers ! and I mean SUPER, theyre known to catch all the surf perch species yellow fin croaker, corbinas ,corvinas , white sea bass , halibut ! yes Halibut , sand and calico bass and super effective catching stripers close to shore, look into those .
Can you please do a video like this but with the spro prime snap I’m wondering if spro will Stan dip to its reputation of making the best barrel swivels fluke bucktails and more.
Picked up a couple packs of the 50lb strength clips. PERFECT for freshwater bass fishing. Stupid question but what are baits I don't wanna be using clips on? I'm thinking these wil be fine with just about anything with a treble hook on it, No? Curious how a spinner bait r buzz bait would work with clips. Even in-line spinners.
Was that a Matzuo Big Dog? I came across two just recently, a holo-chrome perch and a tuxedo, picked them up for just 3$ each. Also, you never mentioned swivels when describing your rigging, do you not use em anywhere in your setup?
The only time i use swivels if i'm tying a leader to braid...not using a pr/ fg/ alberto knot. I never use swivels at the lure. When do you think you saw the matzuo
Thank you apriciate it
Have you ever tried sliding a small piece of vinyl or surgical tubing over the clip? I know some carp fishermen slide rubber tubes onto their back lead clips which got me thinking I should try this with some knock off power clips I have laying around to bolster my confidence in them. Curious to get your take.
Any advice on which knot to use for typing directly to thinner slippery braid line?
I recommend afw snap swivels
Great breakdown. However, your estimate of failure can only apply to braid. Mono has stretch. Witch will add to strength of clips or swivel.
In the smallest sizes do you know prefer these style clips to the Fastach or welded owner?
I use a tactical clip for saltwater like a mirror but the hood keeps getting hung up in the clip and I'm using the smallest one you can find I think if you look at your smallest one the front hook of a maradyne or double D gets hung up and it affects the way the luer acts when it's in the water and mine's like a 25lb do they make a smaller one
Good vid
