- Would inhalers work in emphysema? Normally, symptoms of airways diseases such as asthma and COPD are improved when going on inhalers. However, in the case of severe emphysema, inhalers may not have the expected benefit, because there is a reduction of the actual lung surface required for transfer of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Inhalers treat the airways bringing air into the lungs.

Thanks for explaining the benefits (however small) of using inhalers. My doc prescribes them but I rarely use them. I was thinking that they weren't doing anything for my COPD.
Thank you , I have emphysema and use an inhaler morning and night , I have tried a few and some I have found helpful and some not at all , is there a inhaler that you would recommend over any other one , thank you xx
