Mind telling me how you got that tone?
I do not mind at all! In fact, I’m very flattered!!
As you can see, guitar wise I’m on the middle pick up (the volume is high).
Only three pedals are on, first a Tube Screamer Mini, then a JHS Notaklön, and finally a Bluesbreaker reissue. They all have the tone/treble knobs a little past halfway, such as the gain knobs (I use the Klon that way, unlike John). The volume on the pedals is set in a way that it raises the overall volume a little (not much, but not 0). Bear in mind that all pedals can have slightly different knobs so just grab the general idea of it.
The amp is a Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed: volume at 5 and master volume at 2, a lot of bass on the EQ as for treble it’s set around 8 and the mids are set to 5. Just a little reverb (I added a bit more while mixing because it wasn’t enough). Then in the mixing phase I just made a few changes in the eq but very slight and probably a bit of compression
The amp mic is an SM57
In the video there’s also a very tiny bit of sound that was captured by the phone mic (I did it that way so that the sound sounded more punchy and in your face probably because of the pick, which is a 1.5mm).
My advice to get this sound: if you have pedals and amp try going for a very overdriven sound, not necessarily by turning the gain knob all the way up, but by see how it reacts to the guitar volume in order to get the best combination.
