These have been used by snocross racers for decades. Ever get run over by one of those on the gas? You should see the carnage display at Tekvest- lot's of damaged product, but saved the riders. I know of lots of GNCC, Enduro and HS racers that have went thru 1st corner pileups wearing these and came out unscathed. Tekvest warranties these things probably better than anyone. Maybe not for everyone & certainly not the lowest price option, but they do work & protect as good (or better) than anything else.

I wore one when I was racing snow machines in the Iron Dog, but it really doesn't give any shoulder protection like the leatt. This thing looks better, but it only protects the ribs. The attachment shoulder pieces have no armor in them. They are basically just upper arm protection from tree branches, which is still good, but I think leatt has them beat.

Logically speaking the made in America argument justifying the incredible price premium just doesn’t make sense. How long does it take to stitch one of these together with a sewing machine? 1 hour? So the good American wage at say $20/hr vs a low made in China wage might justify $20 difference. To argue that’s why it costs $700 is absurd. And the materials cost - some textiles, mesh, cloth, plastic or foam protective pieces. Really they can’t be much of the cost either whether or not sources from overseas or U.S. I have no problem them charging whatever they want to charge that’s business, go for it. But to logically always hard on made in America justifies charging 3-4 times more is insulting and is why America has lost the manufacturing battle. Charge a bit more and it’s fine, but triple because it’s made in America is just intellectually dishonest IMHO. Great channel though, Kyle is a great ambassador of the hobby.

I fell over making a tight, 1st gear turn onto a limerock outcropping at Croom down in the pits and at least bruised (maybe cracked) several ribs. Two weeks of barely being able to sleep and asking for help at work was embarrassing since it wasn't a "crash." Not to mention the other 3-4 weeks of soreness. I also purchased a Bushmaster, it is worth every penny. With other brands you will get 2-3 seasons at the most. With a tekvest it will out last all of your other gear and your bike.
$600? Yeahhhhhhh no thanks. We are already spending an absurd amount of money every year just getting to a place where we can ride safely, along with dirtbike maintenance and new riding gear every year. This is just as bad as $500 helmets and boots.

Love the product concept, but just like the rest of the comments, they have to bring that price point down to break into the market at a larger scale. Maybe they are happy with their current production runs and price point. Maybe they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand at a lower cost. Like I had to order a seat and it was very surprising what the turn around time was from the company -- despite no custom elements. In the Karting world they wear rip protectors too and I recently bought an Armadillo brand protector that is seriously tough and can work with my alpinestars pressure suit to layer over it. I like the look of this but not sure how it would work with a big chest. The worst part about being a female rider with boulders up top is that gear is fitted for men. I hate the protective gear I have now. It's longer in the torso which means it's always riding up, and tight on my chest, but loose everywhere else. Maybe this would be a better fit!

Two weeks of barely being able to sleep and asking for help at work was embarrassing since it wasn't a "crash." Not to mention the other 3-4 weeks of soreness. This thing would have saved me - a normal motocross chest & back protector (open on the sides) would not. As soon as I can, I'm getting one. Thanks, Kyle... AGAIN, for pointing me in the right direction on a piece of equipment I didn't even know existed.
Quality sometimes costs. Have a snowmo version. Great company. Looks to be a great product. Thx for the in depth overview.
You mean gullible people will buy anything....
I also purchased a Bushmaster, it is worth every penny. With other brands you will get 2-3 seasons at the most. With a tekvest it will out last all of your other gear and your bike.
Why not get some level 3a soft plates or hard plates, and plate carrier?
I wonder how this stacks up against the Motovest very similar.
Ive been waiting for this review!!!
Hmmmm.. I wouldn't call those shoulder pads. Thoughts? Compared to a Least 5.5 HD.
$600? Yeahhhhhhh no thanks. We are already spending an absurd amount of money every year just getting to a place where we can ride safely, along with dirtbike maintenance and new riding gear every year. This is just as bad as $500 helmets and boots.
well, how do you think he's paying for his gear?
What about your elbows? Seems like a regular armored shirt with a water pack is more versitile and safe???
This is kind of a random request but I’ve never seen you so much east coast riding, I would love to see you ride Hatfield McCoy single track it is truly an amazing place!
Hatfield McCoy sucks. Go ride in Michigan
$570!! dang... that's a big hit...
No lie.....for that price the vest should give me a cold beer( or 2 or 3....) after you are done riding.
Ever seen an ER doctor visit cost?
@@DirtBikeChannel You can GUARANTEE I'll never get hurt have to go the ER if I wear this vest?
Yep. But being impaled is even more expensive.
How's it feel with a neck brace? Love your reviews. Thank you.
Would love to know about neck brace comparability as well. Great review otherwise, thanks Kyle!
how's the collar bone protection? Also, warranties on zippers?
That’s really expensive. I can get a tactical vest and IIIA plates for less than that. Can that vest stop a .357?
Love the product concept, but just like the rest of the comments, they have to bring that price point down to break into the market at a larger scale. Maybe they are happy with their current production runs and price point. Maybe they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand at a lower cost. Like I had to order a seat and it was very surprising what the turn around time was from the company -- despite no custom elements. Seems like they are at their max production run/customer demand point.
They sell everything they make.
You sale everything you make. You have to be the owner or their publicist you reply to every negative comment Lol
@@rafy600 I'm not actually connected to the company in any way. I have my own unrelated company(see my channel). However, I do know of the company and the owner(but I don't know him personally) and know quite a few who wear the Tekvests. They swear by them. Company is located about 4 hrs from me.
North America made. They could make it cheaper over seas, but they don't want to do that.
Take a look at the MotoXvest. As good or better protection for almost half the cost. I love mine.
Not even close to the quality and features of the Neck Vest.
I recently bought a Teckrider-Tekvest Bushmaster. I do extreme enduro dirt bike. In heavy rainy days, for a waterproof jacket do you suggest to wear it overshell upon the Bushmaster or below it? (taking into account the trail pack existing on the back...)
Thank you
What I see is soft sided rib protection. This is not the best .Sorry I have to go with Fox Raptor, Airframe Impact or Leatt 6.5
@DirtBikeChannel - how does this compare to Leatt Fusion 3.0 which you used to wear? Seems like not having the neck brace built in here is huge downside. Love your videos. Thanks
In the Karting world they wear rip protectors too and I recently bought an Armadillo brand protector that is seriously tough and can work with my alpinestars pressure suit to layer over it. Got it used for very cheap.
Just putting another option out there for folks to look at. The tekvest stuff does look topnotch though!
Are they ce rated for impacts
A good bit of kit for enduro and bush riding.
I will not ride with anything that has a center zipper. Zero use for the most vulnerable spot up front. I have taken a mountain strap to the sternum. One piece chest plate for this guy.
509 has one that is $140, anyone know which is rides cooler?
Just wanted to know if u can get it in a kids size
Kyle do you still offer the gear discount on Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. What do enter at check out? Thanks so much. I watch the channel all the time. Jason
looks very interesting. did you have a chance to weat Leatt 5.5 HD Pro? I wonder how they compare.
They don't compare; this is not even the same class as the Leatt 5.5 body protector pro. Go for the Leatt, cheaper and better.
No thanks. At least not at that price. I usually only do field and trail riding, with no jagged rocks. I’ll stick with traditional chest/roost protectors. Just not worth it at that price point. I would probably pay maybe $350 tops for that.. but $700?!
Hello will that fit under a jacket without the back pack
I have one, it’s worth it! Had other protector no comparison
I would like some elbow armor too. And is the armor CE certified?
i was wondering if its rated. off too their site
Only two usual body armors protect ribs and floating ribs. leatt
Is too bulky, acerbis is great with separate shoulder and ankles protection ..
Nice product, too bad there s no serious shoulder and arms protectors
Would an airbag vest offer more or less protection than this vest?
Way more.
Dang Kyle you and me are basically same build. 6 ft tall 156 weight
For that price I’ll just up my insurance premium
Would be nice if you can get a review of the Bell moto 10. Been rocking the moto 9 flex and was by far my favourite helmet. And wonder how the 10 stands up to it
That is an awesome product! I've been looking into something like this. Now just to save for it!
KYLE, YOU SAY YOU PAY FULL PRICE FOR EVERYTHING YOU BUY.
REALLY..??
Why would he lie about something like this? His credibility is at stake-not to mention his business and reputation. If he says he is paying full price, he is.
Kyle is a stand up guy for sure, if he says that it's true. No saying someone shouldn't question it, because you have a great point and question. It's just that Kyle really is a great standup truthful guy we can all trust.
@@kristinchrishadley936 Do you understand how "discount codes" work? If he has his own discount code then he's getting a cut from each person who uses it. Not only did he probably not pay full price, he's getting a cut for every person who uses his coupon code.
@@OnRappel of course he’ll get a kickback NOW-after he paid full price for it and tested it for 18 months. He has a family to feed just like all of us. This is a business that he runs after all. And, no, I don’t plan on spending $700 on a tekvest.
$$$$$ ouch!! I could buy one if I had to. I dont go to the ER either
$570? Dayum. For a chest protector? No damn way.
Have you tried a leatt neck and chest protector yet? If not you should!
I would have flashbacks of ECP duty in Iraq with those sleeves attached.
Looks like a nice piece and I am by no means a cheap ass but 700 bucks Geez
You should make a video with you riding with your kids
Mate Paul from Australia ( the Bushmaster) funny we call our wildness “ the BUSH “ or outback . Actually we have an Australian Build up Armoured Military Vehicle called the Bushmaster. I been looking for a product like - for AGES as you say not built in bloody China 👍 , I ended up getting a Knox Urban pro 2 , made in UK . It’s Impact and abrasion resistant. So good when doing rides from home on asphalt to the dirt . Plus fully ventilated, BUT it doesn’t have rib or chest area protection. ( you can buy a Chest insert ) I upgraded their shoulder protection to level 2, back is already level two . I was thinking 🤔 this might be fantastic to go over the top of it and use it’s back armour ? As I been looking for just a roast vest with rib protection to go over the Urban pro . I reckon the postage from Canada 🇨🇦and currency conversion would be close to 1000 Aus dollars 💵. Anyway will think 🤔 about it “ love your channel.
weight. weight?
That is bad ass ..all in one set up.. and the customizable option is cool.
I haven't found a chest protector that I liked yet. (Too...hot, balky, poor protection, cheaply make...etc etc.)
This one I am going to have to wait & save.
I honestly like the style of the Fox Titan Sport Jacket (It's the only one I've used). I think this product would be better if it was designed that way. But, I haven't used it and I'm partial to the full jacket style as it offers more protection and looks to fit a little tighter, IMO. That being said, I really like the fact that it's made from/in US/Canada.
Edit: Changed some wording and I want to iterate that Ive only used the Fox Titan Jacket.
I will have to stay with the t shirt and some extra fat. To old to ride to hard anyway. My be knee hurts just to see a icey mud puddle or anything similar. Nothin used to bother me but now I'm just a crusier.
I like to pay for top gear and protection, I have way more invested in multiple products that do the same thing. This looks like a great piece of kit for $300 tops. At $600+ I am truly offended. I dont care if its made by Native American Indians from Buffalo hide in Texarkana. Its truly offensively priced.
I'll pay good money for good products- but $570?!?! Yeah, I'll duct tape my tools to my shirt before I spend that.....
FOX Titan 2 more thorough protection overall.
I guess Kyle is ditching the Klim NacPak as well. He may have paid full price for this garbage - and I don't remember seeing this in his other vids the past year (I could be wrong), but guaranteed he's being paid for this review.
this is not a review, this is an ad
I was sold @ north american made👍👍
Not complaining about the price like everyone else? What gives? :)
Hey Brandon, is this the "Putin Affect" $170?
Sorry Canada has gone to the libs!! But i to wear a complete upper body protection!! It is the only way to go!! I am i like padding..lol i am 61 and need something soft to land on..great product!!
What about the so-called Airbag Rider suits???...
Its a little pricey considering you can get the leatt 6.5pro for half the price. Arent YKK zippers made in Japan? + Im sure you have international viewers that aren't too bothered about the politics.
These things are way too hot to wear in the summer.
I like the idea of a protective vest with a few pockets BUT for $570.00, Its just not practicle or feasiable for the average rider like myself. I like it much better when content creators like yourself review more affordable products that I could possibly have a chance to purchase at some point. This TekVest is definately does NOT fit into that category. Lets see some more budget friendly options.
The vast majority of mc injuries are in the arms/legs. Not the chest. For that kind of money, that is a hell no..
Enthusiasm for the product well relayed and expressed...looking in to ne now. Thanks for the great review
Acerbis Jump vest - 125 $
I highly doubt you paid full price for this. You are definitely getting kickbacks for doing this for sponsored video on a vest that cost $600
Wait, you bought it with your own money but you have your own dirt bike channel line ... something doesn't add up.
