  • This may be a holy grail Toyota Hilux LN106 solid axle 2.8 3L diesel...or not.
    I had been looking for a Hilux project for almost a year, I finally found a good one. Typically these do not come up for sale very often down here in Costa Rica and when they do, they typically don't last long on the market. Most are thrashed, abused and dipped in layers of paint, this one is clean.
    A two owner truck, not abused and in mostly original condition with the famous 3L diesel, an engine that hits 1,000,000 kilometers, at 292,000km, a verified compression test of 420 per cylinder, means it will offer years of service.
    A Stage 2 restoration, using factory paint code color and new weather stripping, plus a few extras for comfort and style has been completed. This is part two of the series and part three will be coming soon.
    For those interested in owning this Toyota icon, it is on its way to the US and will be available in April.

    Looks terrific! We have a '96 LN105 double cab over here in England, love these old trucks so much. Great to see yours being brought back to full glory.

      Thanks for the positive comment! These trucks are real icons of the Toyota line and I was happy to have had the opportunity to restore it. This one will be for sale in the US soon but I plan on starting another build for myself.

    Didn't see the back wall get sound dampening. Top sources of road noise is roof then back then floor the doors on these pickups

    Hi, do we know where this truck landed in the states and if it sold? Interested. Located in Los Angeles. Thanks. Gorgeous build.

      Thanks for the compliment! It was imported into California but unfortunately…or fortunately for the new owner, has been sold. These are trucks are iconic and I hope to be able to restore another one soon.

    Any way you would share your all in $ cost? Truck and resto.

    • @arvbnb9735
      @arvbnb9735  6 месяцев назад +1

      Theses trucks currently run $12-15k on the low end with out the restorations and that can easily double depending on what it needed and the level one wants to go. There are no "cheap" Hilux's, the toughness and reliability are baked into the prices. Shipping costs depend on your destination. This truck recently sold very close to my asking price, I had some "offers" come in from buyers that obviously do not understand what it takes to bring a Hilux to this level into the States.

      I put in days and weeks of research to find parts and still have some I can not locate. There are a couple site/suppliers from Japan that have good inventory and customer service. The UAE also carries a large inventory and reliable shipping. Next best option is sourcing from Thailand via Ebay or other sites.
