I think he's been reading leaks, and sometimes the trailer is obvious. He didn't get Byleth, Pyra, Piranha Plant, Joker, Sephiroth, and probably more. Some didn't give him the chance, to be fair.
To me I felt like sora was the perfect ending to smash ultimate, not an intense fight scene in the trailer, just him appearing and looking at all the characters with the music and then shaking Mario's hand to finally end it.
I kinda feel what you’re saying. Like this series has always been a fighting game. The end of the game having Mario and Sora shake hands is beautiful and an amazing fighting game ending.

It's called acclimatising. Some might call it greed; but I think people deserve the right to want their (reasonable) favourites in. It may be a lot of effort for Sakurai but in the end, taking his series to a roster over 100 really would be the 'Ultimate' thing in fighting games. Which they honestly cold have with this version

When you see all the returning characters, all the new characters and all the DLC characters being revealed.. you really understand what a phenomenal roster this game has. And what a phenomenal game it is period.
I don't care who didn't end up in Smash, all I have to say is that I'm glad I got to experience all the surprises, plus some stuff I actually wanted ended up in the game, like Banjo and Sans, this was a wild ride.

That ultimate reveal trailer is legit my second favorite trailer of all time. They knew how hype that shit was the way that they slowly revealed every fucking character from the franchise returning.
Even though the game has been out for almost 3 years I love coming back to see the reveal trailer for Ultimate as well as the character reveal trailers just to see the reactions. Even though I already know who’s in the game it’s nice to relive that nostalgia and emotion.
I just realized a thing, Mario started all of this, and finished all of this. He started by kicking yoshi, and finished by grabbing the last piece of fire
I think what bothers me the most is everyone thought Chrom would be Ike or Marth echo and didn't consider Roy. Roy used to be Marth's Echo/Clone in Melee until he received some slight changes in 3DS/Wii U.
I still think it's funny everyone including Sakurai thought Ridley was too big to put in smash. Sakurai was the only person who remembered Ridley is relatively small in the original Metroid

I kinda wish every reaction wasn't "omg the leak was right". I know some people like to look into the leaks of things, but I found it so much more fun to not look at any rumours and just watch the trailers when they come out. Sephiroth especially was a huge surprise to me, cuz I hear the music and I just jumped up in shock.
@@connorbruhmoment that's not what I meant, it all felt real, I'm guessing in the first few reactions between the vergeben leaks and initial speculation he had a better grasp on some of the early on fighters. The further we got into the dlc passes, the more the credible leaks seemed to dry up (or, to me, at least).
So many memories, so many experiences. I will always treasure the work of Masahiro Sakurai and his team for the effort, passion, and determination put into a single game. Whatever Sakurai does next, I think we should all support him 100%. He gave us Banjo, Sephiroth, and above all odds, Sora! He has proven himself to be a gaming legend. Thank you Sakurai for everything you've done.

I really can’t believe it’s over. It seems like just yesterday, I was enjoying my senior year of high school 2018-2019 for the hype of this game and now I’m a junior in college. Where did time go?
Coming back to the beginning, memories were made in the development of smash bros. Characters that were cut returned, and we got surprises along the way. We got joker, we got banjo Kazooie, and we even got sans. Thank you Sakurai for a great fighting game
Three years later, and I'm still impressed by how nice Aaronitmar was at the Steve reveal. So many people went BALLISTIC about that, lots of people said Smash was ruined, and they'd never buy DLC again, that bringing him in was an insult. And then Aaronitmar just goes "Not who I'd choose, but I'm alright with this!". Nice to see.
Unfortunately, I didn't end up having the killer reactions I should have for Simon and Terry, since I wasn't properly acquainted with them before Smash. I'm a huge fan of them both now, but back then, it was more a "...Okay." Sora and Sephiroth got the biggest reactions out of me. Sephiroth was because I legit did not think they could do him justice, and thus not able to be added. And Sora? He was the character I wanted most in the game, but also had more licensing issues, so he wasn't very likely.
I actually expected nothing from that direct (maybe Crash or another Fire Emblem character). But on Gamespot's thumbnail I saw it and went insane (after needing 3 takes to believe it and that it wasn't the zillionth 'prediction' video, lol.)
Watching these again is making me tear up. I'm gonna miss these reveal trailers, they were all so high quality and so hype! Each one felt like a big event

The character is interesting. The MARKETING, though? A total shitshow and PR nightmare that's mostly the fault of Nintendo's arrogance. You KNOW something goes wrong when at Nintendo's New York store, the crowd is mostly quiet; The crowd there is NEVER quiet.

As a Banjo, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, KoF, Xenoblade, Shantae, and Doom fan, I absolutely loved the DLC + Mii costumes
Coming back to the beginning, memories were made in the development of smash bros. Characters that were cut returned, and we got surprises along the way. We got joker, we got banjo Kazooie, and we even got sans. Thank you Sakurai for a great fighting game

Imagine all those years, beggin and pleading for Sora to be in Smash, only to get that final trailer, the keyhole opens...and out comes Roxas instead.
Three years later, and I'm still impressed by how nice Aaronitmar was at the Steve reveal. So many people went BALLISTIC about that, lots of people said Smash was ruined, and they'd never buy DLC again, that bringing him in was an insult. And then Aaronitmar just goes "Not who I'd choose, but I'm alright with this!". Nice to see.

Unfortunately, I didn't end up having the killer reactions I should have for Simon and Terry, since I wasn't properly acquainted with them before Smash. I'm a huge fan of them both now, but back then, it was more a "...Okay." Sora and Sephiroth got the biggest reactions out of me. Sephiroth was because I legit did not think they could do him justice, and thus not able to be added. And Sora? He was the character I wanted most in the game, but also had more licensing issues, so he wasn't very likely.
