Something I learned about Villager's reveal; the letter was originally there as a part of Animal Crossing iconography, as receiving things in your mailbox is a natural part of the series. However, the fans took to the invitation letter as Smash iconography for inviting newcomers, and the idea made its way back into future reveals.
I love how they was like hey you remember that one character trailer from that smash game that most people really didn't care about let's add those in some of the new reveals
Brazilian here. I was really happy Terry was included in Smash, The King of Fighters was the first fighting game I've ever played and everyone around here agrees that him being in the game is a HUGE deal.
I like how someone in the audience was like "What's this? Oh it's Zelda!" when Sheik appeared, before Zelda's face showed up. Definitely someone who's gotten to the end of Ocarina of Time.
Or, could actually be someone who played Ocarina and didn't finish it, just exclaiming she's from the Zelda series but doesn't remember her name. And we will never know, we can only assume the safest bet.

1:00:15 I think Terry's inclusion was sort of a "Marth Moment". The DLC pack wasn't just Terry or King of Fighters, it was an introduction to and a celebration of NEO-GEO as a whole. One thing that always stuck out to me in the full reveal trailer was how much passion there was put into it. Like how they explained who all the character cameos in Terry's stage are. Or how Sakurai's team made a massive list of music track requests to bring to NEO-GEO, including tracks from other series like Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug and Psycho Soldier, and to their surprise every single one of them was approved. And honestly, I think it kinda worked. I'd heard of games like Metal Slug and King of Fighters before, even seen the odd arcade cabinet, but seeing these series immortalized in the great video game museum of Super Smash Bros made me go out actually try some of them out.

Just noticed something you might be interested in hearing about since you didn't mention it. Ness was put into smash because he was Iwata's choice. Iwata helped with the development of Earthbound so it could exist as a game. Iwata had a similar role with smash bros which was his next major project and believed that since kirby was allowed on the roster, as Sakurai's pick, Ness should be in as his. Also Lucas was set to replace Ness in Melee but Mother 3 wasn't anywhere finished at the time but when Brawl came around, they had extra development time to create a new semiclone and decided on Lucas

Imma miss this channel so much… I remember way back in the smash 4 days coming across this amazing channel and there truly will be nothing like it, even with the controversy in the past it was always nice to stick by and with you alax. I'll probably never get over how incredible both Joker and Sephiroth's reveals were. Joker's was completely unexpected, being the first one at the Game Awards (starting the expecting of 'smash reveal at tga'), had absolutely no leaks, was a big enough character to be a shock to the fans that were into the Persona franchise, but small enough to not be thought of as a possible candidate by the majority of the speculation community. However that's not the main thing that made Joker's reveal so good, it was how it was the only Smash trailer ever to tell the audience it was about the character first, _than_ Smash later. To explain what I mean, look at every Ultimate reveal from Ridley to Sora, all of them one way or another tell you this what about Smash, and the buildup is on who the next character is going to be. Even Isabell who should fit in the same 'show character first' category as Joker doesn't because it was put at the end of a Nintendo Direct, where it has became a huge stable to have a smash reveal so people were already expecting it. Joker though, was again, the first character to ever be revealed at TGA, so while the general masses were more so confused and/or just paying attention halfheartedly, not expecting this trailer that was put right before the GOTY announcement to amount to anything, the majority of Persona fans were thinking that this was about the dancing games, a new spinoff, or the eventual rereleased better version of P5 (so Royal). So to have Joker turn that envelope into a Smash Bros. Invitation, have Mario, Link, and other Nintendo characters to appear, fighting as shadows, and to confirm in words that Joker was the first DLC character all in Persona 5's iconic artstyle was just unforgettable and is easily in my top 3 reveals ever. Now Sephiroth, what makes this easily top tier is how much they devoted the trailer to the character and legacy of Spehiroth. While this may not be the 'reveal character first, than show its Smash later' schtick, nor the unexpected factor of a smash reveal being at TGA, they completely took full advantage of letting the audience anticipated whoever tf the new character was by having dear o'l Seph _literally cut Galeem in half._ If you weren't paying attention before, you were certainly now when you see Ultimate's _main antagonist that killed basically everyone sans Kibry killed in one slash._ So to have Galeems remains and the other Master Hands desolve and fall to the sea as mfing One Wing Angel starts playing is simply the embodiment of pure hype. But that's not it, we than get what is basically a FF7 fan letter with all tons of references to OG FF7, Advent Children, and hell, even the _Remakes._ Seeing Sephiroth bodying everyone, killing almost Mario, to him and Cloud having their one on one showdown like its suddenly another Final Fantasy Spinoff instead of the biggest crossover franchise in all of gaming was the biggest amount of pure franchise a FF7 fan can ever ask for. It was simply perfect.

I love all these reveals but Sephiroth's was the hypest/craziest character reveal in fighting game history for me. I love how each section of his trailer is divided by the sections of the One Winged Angel theme. His trailer is so perfect!

I had a really rough 2 years of my life and in that time I forgot to love video games. When Sora was announced for Smash Brothers it filled me with so much emotion I let out a single tear. It sounds stupid but Sora being announced for Smash was a dream I had since I was 7 years old. To have that dream realized so many years later filled me with the hope I needed after my life took a turn. I will always love this game, and this series because it represents a genuine part of who I am. Sora being put into Smash kinda put some of the pieces that had been broken back where they needed to go and reminded me of my first love, video games. Thank you Alax for being a part of the reason I love Smash so much to this day, if it wasn't for people like you in the community I don't think I'd ever be where I am today.
Thank you for continuing to give Smash the credit it's deserved. The sheer magnitude of the roster - all the characters and franchises represented, the tremendous amount of love and care put into them - it can never be overstated just how amazing it all is.
Aside from this video being about Smash, this also really felt like the evolution of your channel. I loved seeing all of those in-jokes again throughout the vid, and getting to re-watch your reactions to Ultimate's E3 trailer and Joker's reveal honestly gave me goosebumps. Getting to see you grow ever since the Ridley debate has been a wild ride, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next. Growing up watching your vids since I was 10/11 and now just turning 18 has been crazy for me, so thank you for being such an impactful part of my life, despite never knowing me.
Sora wasn’t only my pick but he was the character I chose on the ballot. And learning that he was the REAL winner of the Smash 4 Ballot was and still is shocking. Which is crazy. But I’m glad that he is THE final character of Smash Ultimate.
I understood that Sora was a character people really wanted. I've never played those games and have no interested myself, but I would have found it really funny to see Disney characters represented in some way ... which didn't happen. But at least Sora is in.
With Sora's reveal, it really does feel bittersweet knowing that this era has come to a close. Even if Sakurai manages to make another Smash there likely won't be a reveal as astronomically crazy as Sora, given he was pretty much the ultimate never-ever choice prior because Disney. Either way, I'm gonna miss the reveals and batshit insane reactions that followed, even the speculation *for* those newcomer reveals.

Watching his reaction to the Everyone is Here trailer made me tear up bro. Also not having some funny anecdotal bit at the end after his little message was super impactful and made me realize just how much he meant it. Thank YOU Alax. For me, the smash series wouldn't be the same without you and youtubers like you, and Lord knows it wouldn't be half as good.
I can say for a fact I am not this man’s biggest or most loyal fan. I have been with him since the beginning of it all. But I still love him and his content. The quality and effort put into these videos was unimaginable, and that makes him one of the few RUclipsrs I have an immense amount of respect for. And to leave it all and pursue his real passion, makes that respect even greater. I hope one day though, we do see him on the flip side.
Even though I love basically every single reveal, Banjo & Kazooie's is still my all time favourite reveal. It wasn't flashy like Joker's, it wasn't action-packed like Sephiroth's, it quite literally started as a snoozefest. But the interactions between B-K and the DK crew were incredible, and the final shot of them being surrounded by other fighters made it feel like an old friend had come home. I still get light-headed watching the trailer.
I like the part of the trailer where Banjo is hanging off of the ledge and Joker walks over and stares down, which to me implies that the Phantom Thieves stole the first invite originally meant for Banjo at the Game Awards.
Daisy and Sora were my most hyped reveals for me, since I had wanted both in Smash 4 and thought it wasn’t possible since they added Rosalina and Cloud respectively. I also have a great love for the weirdos, like ROB, Wii Fit Trainer, Duck Hunt, Piranha Plant, and Steve. Basically anyone who they added and people’s reaction was, “That’s a fighter?”
No one realised how big of an impact the latest smash game had on the fans. Since everyone was here, anyone could play whoever they want and have fun, truly solidifying the point of smash.

Any villain reveal was always huge to me - from Bowser, Ganon, and Mewtwo in Melee, to Dedede and Wolf in Brawl, to the entire Koopa Kid troupe and bringing back Mewtwo in Smash 4, to bringing back Wolf and revealing freaking Ridley, K. Rool, Dark Samus, Sephiroth, and Kazuya in Ultimate. Other than the baddies, Banjo was pretty dope though.
When i watched the Steve reveal live, i said it was going to be Steve, my sister said it wasnt, and now i have bragging rights for the rest of our lives.
The craziest and most impactful reveals to me Sonic: While I was too young to initially know his reveal in Brawl. I did play him thanks to my cousin. But when he showed up in Smash 4 as Sonic Heroes played, tears of joy flowed like a river. Pac-Man and Duck Hunt: 2 classic icons I loved play as a kid thanks to re-releases and plug & play brought me to tears as they join the same game Sonic was in. Cloud & Sephiroth: I put these two together due to them being from the same game. I've never played Final Fantasy 7 nor any other game in the series. But just knowing the legacy and importance these characters had to video games was enough to make me feel like I was a huge FF fan when revealed. Terry: I was angry seeing this reveal, due to a leak of an SNK rep. I knew Terry a bit but not much else. After his reveal I dedicated myself to know most if not everything to the legendary wolf. From his main timeline in Fatal Fury to his role in KOF. Understanding how his moves work normal. This passion to understand a character before the showcase slowly but surely made me interested in KOF. If I had a PS4 I'd buy KOF 15 on the spot. A unfortunate event was able to unleash a passion filled with fury to a series that the director Sakurai loves. (I just wish I had a fighting stick for my Switch) Inkling: Ah yes a character I wanted in Smash 4 cause of my love for Splatoon. I was all over this series on it debut and I bought 2 along with my Switch a few months after it's release. It's my #1 series for Nintendo. So not only in that direct they announced a new update for multiplayer, they announced Octoling DLC (Which was amazing BTW), I was thinking a Splatoon show was about to happen I didn't want to believe it was Smash. But then a circle with two lines show up a nearly gave me a stroke. Splatoon fans were eating good that day. Corrin: I saved this one for last. Despite everyone blaming this character for FE being overrepresented and most FE fans not liking Fates. The half-dragon avatar made me a FE fan. I love how they play in both 4 and Ultimate, I've played and beaten all paths in Fates, enjoying all 3 playthroughs (Fave story: Conquest, Fave Gameplay: Revelations). I later bought Three Houses, Awakening, and Warriors. For me Corrin belongs in Smash. Bring me into a series part of a foreign genre for me at the time and I don't regret my choice. But to me all of that wouldn't be as hype for me if it wasn't for Etika. He was like a solar system in DBZ, lending everyone that watched him his hyped energy with not just Smash but any game he played. Dude will always be phenomenal ad he's a legend in my eyes.
Hurts me everytime when somebody says nobody knew who Terry was. It really showed how obscure fighting games were. I'm glad the genre is really growing now though. (now if only that could happen to racing games too)
It is quite sad (and slightly annoying albeit understandable). Before the character got announced I went to an arcade. Instead of coins you used a card and the deal I got only allowed a handful of cabinets. That's when I found the KOF cabinet. Easily my favourite I poured most of my time into it and had a blast! He may not be Steve levels of beloved and well known, but that doesn't demean the impact the character brought for many fans.
it also hurt me when almost everyone didnt knew who terry was, im from mexico and KoF is big here as it is on most of latin america, it was really sad that even on europe he was mostly unknow. Also a little info here, Terry original franchise is Fatal Fury, just that the first game in the sieres was named Fatal Furry: King of Figthers, it was some years later that the same company released a crosover figthing game that included characters from various of its franchises that game being The King OF fighters Now looking at it, it is to be expected that the main character of a game that inspired a crossover franchise like king of fighters is part of a game that is a great crossover
Steve was my most wanted character and seeing it be represented in Smash was one of the best things I could have ever asked for from it. I've wanted Steve since the day I discovered Brawl. I will never get over Steve's reveal in smash and the stupid smile I had seeing it.

You know it's just so crazy how far this crossover franchise and this community have come, the many things that happened and now it's all coming to a close and we're heading into the new year it's just sad that a whole era has ended but I'm happy that it happened... [55:42] My Smash eu headcanon is that Sakurai originally wanted to put in Petey Piranha as a mindblowing reveal for the DLC characters (baiting a Brawl reference in the trailer), but couldn’t really come up with an adequate moveset for it, so he eventually just made Petey an ult. for Piranha Plant and presented the character more as an unlikely yet surprising fighter.

Terry Bogard is Fatal Fury character and the King of Fighters is fighting game crossover between SNK franchises, he's the poster boy of Fatal Fury and a mainstay in most KoF games. He's fun entry level character in FF and KoF.

It literally has been 6 years since Corrin's reveal and there are people who are still very furious about it. It really isn't as big of a deal as many people make it to be, and even if someone else was chosen instead of Corrin chances are they would have also not come with a new stage and came with very little music. There is really no excuse for why this was the case for Corrin beyond their development potentially being rushed.

I actually think Corrin is one of the most popular characters in all of FE but the community is just so toxic they try to make it out that nobody liked Fates or the characters when that’s obviously not true.
Gunner Dude 23 The reason fates sloppy story is because the story had to be reduced to 500 pages each pathway to about 40 due to limitations of the 3DS.
I still vividly remember the days Inkling, sans, Steve, and Sora were announced. I've loved this series and been playing it since brawl when I was 5. I've grown, played all the games at least a little, talked with friends about it, made friends through it, watched my sister gain interest in it, I even earned the money for a Switch so I could get Smash Ultimate for my birthday a year later, getting the DLC for another birthday years later, and now I have the money that I could get anything else that comes. But sadly there won't be any more that I think will impact me the same way. The morning I woke up to watch the Sora announcement was when I realized that this series has done more for me than I could ever realize. It's probably because because of these games that I'm such a Nintendo fan and have learned the history of each franchise within. Through it all Sakurai has given me something that nothing really matches the feeling of. And for that, I have supported any characters he added and still will if he just wants to retire.
Ultimate is the reason I actually even care about fighting games or watching trailers. Even if I couldn't care less about the fighter I always came to see who was next. I definitely hold Ultimate dear to me and I really believe something like this will never happen again,not even in smash's history

My favorite reveal is Ridley. I’ve never wanted a character in smash more than him. His trailer was like a Christmas morning moment for me, I had never been that excited about a video game character in my life. That set the tone for Ultimate
I thought I unsubscribed from this guy or something because I occasionally purge RUclipsrs from my feed to keep the slate clean. But I thought to myself "No that can't be it, because I keep GOOD RUclipsrs on my list, and I really like this guy's style and taste. So maybe I accidentally unsubscribed? Ope no, hiatus." Well, my list has old animators with their last videos from 4+ years ago, so I can wait. Oh my guy, I can wait.
Looking at all of these trailers just made me smile, no matter who got revealed it still made me happy to see how far this game has reached and how it brings excitement to everyone.
As a Persona fan since 3, I especially found it mindblowing that Joker was revealed on my frickin' birthday, December 6th! Though it would be cool if he was saved for the last DLC character; that way, he'd be the Last Surprise, lol.
This franchise will always have a special place in my heart for being the thing that got me into gaming as a whole. Say what you will about the community, but you can't deny the amount of heart and passion that was put into every single title. Hell, Ultimate was literally Sakurai's last promise to his best friend - Satoru Iwata. I think I speak for everyone when I say thank you Sakurai for making all of our childhoods that much greater - and thank you Alax, for this incredibly nostalgic overview of all the character reveals! I can't wait to see how they top Ultimate in the future.
Byleth’s inclusion was interesting because Sakurai said he played a version of Three houses with no endings to get a basis for their character, which means that Byleth was gonna be in smash before Three houses was even finished in development.
This video is PERFECT. You are a god, a legend, but I clearly remember that Melee had a website that showed all characters of the game, except for Mr. Game & Watch that was covered with the classic “?”. Very good job, man.
The character reveals for Ultimate were incredible of course, but I was also really impressed by other aspects that generated just as much hype, if not more. The internet lost its collective shit when freaking SANS showed up, the Cuphead reveal was just as hype inducing, and while I was a little disappointed at first, I can't even describe just how happy I am that Shantae made it in too, and was even the big Mii reveal that came with music, in a pack that included costumes from DMC and goddamn Skyrim.
Thanks for the nostalgia hit. I haven't seen that SSBB trailer in over a decade, but I still knew it beat for beat. Checking the Dojo every day. It was the first time I felt true hype for a game series. I hopped on the Gamefaqs SSBB boards where we freaked out over every tiny detail, and the SSBBSB became a place I stayed in for like 6 years. Until the game was out and played to death and we were just doing RPs and writing stories starring each other. It was my first sense of gaming community. It, and the characters revealed in it, will forever hold a place in my heart. That and the fucking "Remember Remember the 3rd of Decemeber when Smash Brothers would have been fought, I can think of no reason this holiday treason will ever be forgot" we ripped from V for Vendetta. God we were little edgelords at times XD

While I know that there were five characters revealed on August 8th, to me, it's gotta be King K. Rool. I've wanted him for so long and, to me, he seemed to make the most sense as a fighter. When he finally was revealed, I broke out crying. And, most of all, all of this happened on my birthday. Turning 18 may not be the most memorable experience for everyone, but for me, this was the best unintentional birthday gift I ever got.

As a long time viewer and an [almost] life long Smash fan, this was an incredibly entertaining video to watch. I started with Smash with Brawl and played it to death with my brother and our friends. I didn’t have a Wii U, so I only got to play Smash Wii U at friends’ houses. I did have the 3DS game, but I didn’t play it much because I only had the original 3DS. Shortly before the Switch was announced, was when I found your channel and I slowly fell back in love with Smash and Nintendo as a whole. I remember watching your reaction stream for the Smash Ultimate reveal, and that’s what made me finally decide to pull the trigger on buying a Switch. I was in high school and had a summer job at the time, so the Switch was the first console I ever bought with my own money. I even remember sneaking in time at my summer job to watch your reaction to the Simon/Richter reveal. Now I’m 21 years old working a night shift and still sneaking around to watch your stuff at work, and all I want to say is thank you for reeling me back into the world of Smash bros.

I think you can guess mine - you'll never see it coming. But other than that, every time I see the Everyone is Here video, I get really emotional. I can't help but smile and tear up. Maybe it's because I spent so long on this channel speaking about all those characters that to see them all together at once, with the musical flourishes and the slow reveal, it makes my heart swell. I love this series, so thank you for sharing it with me for these many years.

Something I learned about Villager's reveal; the letter was originally there as a part of Animal Crossing iconography, as receiving things in your mailbox is a natural part of the series. However, the fans took to the invitation letter as Smash iconography for inviting newcomers, and the idea made its way back into future reveals.
I love how they was like hey you remember that one character trailer from that smash game that most people really didn't care about let's add those in some of the new reveals
The invitation is such an iconic part of the reveals now, it's crazy to think that it wasn't used again until Isabelle's reveal

Being from Latin America the reveal of Terry was for me like Nintendo saying "hey, you there, we know you guys exist, we care a little about you".
1:00:15 I think Terry's inclusion was sort of a "Marth Moment". The DLC pack wasn't just Terry or King of Fighters, it was an introduction to and a celebration of NEO-GEO as a whole. One thing that always stuck out to me in the full reveal trailer was how much passion there was put into it. Like how they explained who all the character cameos in Terry's stage are. Or how Sakurai's team made a massive list of music track requests to bring to NEO-GEO, including tracks from other series like Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug and Psycho Soldier, and to their surprise every single one of them was approved. And honestly, I think it kinda worked. I'd heard of games like Metal Slug and King of Fighters before, even seen the odd arcade cabinet, but seeing these series immortalized in the great video game museum of Super Smash Bros made me go out actually try some of them out.

Just noticed something you might be interested in hearing about since you didn't mention it. Ness was put into smash because he was Iwata's choice. Iwata helped with the development of Earthbound so it could exist as a game. Iwata had a similar role with smash bros which was his next major project and believed that since kirby was allowed on the roster, as Sakurai's pick, Ness should be in as his. Also Lucas was set to replace Ness in Melee but Mother 3 wasn't anywhere finished at the time but when Brawl came around, they had extra development time to create a new semiclone and decided on Lucas

I'll probably never get over how incredible both Joker and Sephiroth's reveals were.
Joker's was completely unexpected, being the first one at the Game Awards (starting the expecting of 'smash reveal at tga'), had absolutely no leaks, was a big enough character to be a shock to the fans that were into the Persona franchise, but small enough to not be thought of as a possible candidate by the majority of the speculation community.
However that's not the main thing that made Joker's reveal so good, it was how it was the only Smash trailer ever to tell the audience it was about the character first, _than_ Smash later. To explain what I mean, look at every Ultimate reveal from Ridley to Sora, all of them one way or another tell you this what about Smash, and the buildup is on who the next character is going to be.
Even Isabell who should fit in the same 'show character first' category as Joker doesn't because it was put at the end of a Nintendo Direct, where it has became a huge stable to have a smash reveal so people were already expecting it. Joker though, was again, the first character to ever be revealed at TGA, so while the general masses were more so confused and/or just paying attention halfheartedly, not expecting this trailer that was put right before the GOTY announcement to amount to anything, the majority of Persona fans were thinking that this was about the dancing games, a new spinoff, or the eventual rereleased better version of P5 (so Royal).
So to have Joker turn that envelope into a Smash Bros. Invitation, have Mario, Link, and other Nintendo characters to appear, fighting as shadows, and to confirm in words that Joker was the first DLC character all in Persona 5's iconic artstyle was just unforgettable and is easily in my top 3 reveals ever.
Now Sephiroth, what makes this easily top tier is how much they devoted the trailer to the character and legacy of Spehiroth. While this may not be the 'reveal character first, than show its Smash later' schtick, nor the unexpected factor of a smash reveal being at TGA, they completely took full advantage of letting the audience anticipated whoever tf the new character was by having dear o'l Seph _literally cut Galeem in half._
If you weren't paying attention before, you were certainly now when you see Ultimate's _main antagonist that killed basically everyone sans Kibry killed in one slash._ So to have Galeems remains and the other Master Hands desolve and fall to the sea as mfing One Wing Angel starts playing is simply the embodiment of pure hype.
But that's not it, we than get what is basically a FF7 fan letter with all tons of references to OG FF7, Advent Children, and hell, even the _Remakes._ Seeing Sephiroth bodying everyone, killing almost Mario, to him and Cloud having their one on one showdown like its suddenly another Final Fantasy Spinoff instead of the biggest crossover franchise in all of gaming was the biggest amount of pure franchise a FF7 fan can ever ask for.
It was simply perfect.

I had a really rough 2 years of my life and in that time I forgot to love video games. When Sora was announced for Smash Brothers it filled me with so much emotion I let out a single tear. It sounds stupid but Sora being announced for Smash was a dream I had since I was 7 years old. To have that dream realized so many years later filled me with the hope I needed after my life took a turn. I will always love this game, and this series because it represents a genuine part of who I am. Sora being put into Smash kinda put some of the pieces that had been broken back where they needed to go and reminded me of my first love, video games. Thank you Alax for being a part of the reason I love Smash so much to this day, if it wasn't for people like you in the community I don't think I'd ever be where I am today.

Thank you for continuing to give Smash the credit it's deserved. The sheer magnitude of the roster - all the characters and franchises represented, the tremendous amount of love and care put into them - it can never be overstated just how amazing it all is.
Aside from this video being about Smash, this also really felt like the evolution of your channel. I loved seeing all of those in-jokes again throughout the vid, and getting to re-watch your reactions to Ultimate's E3 trailer and Joker's reveal honestly gave me goosebumps. Getting to see you grow ever since the Ridley debate has been a wild ride, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next. Growing up watching your vids since I was 10/11 and now just turning 18 has been crazy for me, so thank you for being such an impactful part of my life, despite never knowing me.
Sora wasn’t only my pick but he was the character I chose on the ballot. And learning that he was the REAL winner of the Smash 4 Ballot was and still is shocking. Which is crazy. But I’m glad that he is THE final character of Smash Ultimate.
Yeah Sora was definitely the best way to end Smash, since his the hardest to get, because of Disney's God awful rules and hoops just to get him.
I understood that Sora was a character people really wanted. I've never played those games and have no interested myself, but I would have found it really funny to see Disney characters represented in some way ... which didn't happen. But at least Sora is in.

With Sora's reveal, it really does feel bittersweet knowing that this era has come to a close. Even if Sakurai manages to make another Smash there likely won't be a reveal as astronomically crazy as Sora, given he was pretty much the ultimate never-ever choice prior because Disney. Either way, I'm gonna miss the reveals and batshit insane reactions that followed, even the speculation *for* those newcomer reveals.

Watching his reaction to the Everyone is Here trailer made me tear up bro. I can say for a fact I am not this man’s biggest or most loyal fan. I have been with him since the beginning of it all. But I still love him and his content. The quality and effort put into these videos was unimaginable, and that makes him one of the few RUclipsrs I have an immense amount of respect for. And to leave it all and pursue his real passion, makes that respect even greater. I hope one day though, we do see him on the flip side.

Even though I love basically every single reveal, Banjo & Kazooie's is still my all time favourite reveal. It wasn't flashy like Joker's, it wasn't action-packed like Sephiroth's, it quite literally started as a snoozefest. But the interactions between B-K and the DK crew were incredible, and the final shot of them being surrounded by other fighters made it feel like an old friend had come home. I still get light-headed watching the trailer.

Daisy and Sora were my most hyped reveals for me, since I had wanted both in Smash 4 and thought it wasn’t possible since they added Rosalina and Cloud respectively. I also have a great love for the weirdos, like ROB, Wii Fit Trainer, Duck Hunt, Piranha Plant, and Steve. Basically anyone who they added and people’s reaction was, “That’s a fighter?”

Any villain reveal was always huge to me - from Bowser, Ganon, and Mewtwo in Melee, to Dedede and Wolf in Brawl, to the entire Koopa Kid troupe and bringing back Mewtwo in Smash 4, to bringing back Wolf and revealing freaking Ridley, K. Rool, Dark Samus, Sephiroth, and Kazuya in Ultimate.
Other than the baddies, Banjo was pretty dope though.

The craziest and most impactful reveals to me
Sonic: While I was too young to initially know his reveal in Brawl. I did play him thanks to my cousin. But when he showed up in Smash 4 as Sonic Heroes played, tears of joy flowed like a river.
Pac-Man and Duck Hunt: 2 classic icons I loved play as a kid thanks to re-releases and plug & play brought me to tears as they join the same game Sonic was in.
Cloud & Sephiroth: I put these two together due to them being from the same game. I've never played Final Fantasy 7 nor any other game in the series. But just knowing the legacy and importance these characters had to video games was enough to make me feel like I was a huge FF fan when revealed.
Terry: I was angry seeing this reveal, due to a leak of an SNK rep. I knew Terry a bit but not much else. After his reveal I dedicated myself to know most if not everything to the legendary wolf. From his main timeline in Fatal Fury to his role in KOF. Understanding how his moves work normal. This passion to understand a character before the showcase slowly but surely made me interested in KOF. If I had a PS4 I'd buy KOF 15 on the spot. A unfortunate event was able to unleash a passion filled with fury to a series that the director Sakurai loves. (I just wish I had a fighting stick for my Switch)
Inkling: Ah yes a character I wanted in Smash 4 cause of my love for Splatoon. I was all over this series on it debut and I bought 2 along with my Switch a few months after it's release. It's my #1 series for Nintendo. So not only in that direct they announced a new update for multiplayer, they announced Octoling DLC (Which was amazing BTW), I was thinking a Splatoon show was about to happen I didn't want to believe it was Smash. But then a circle with two lines show up a nearly gave me a stroke. Splatoon fans were eating good that day.
Corrin: I saved this one for last. Despite everyone blaming this character for FE being overrepresented and most FE fans not liking Fates. The half-dragon avatar made me a FE fan. I love how they play in both 4 and Ultimate, I've played and beaten all paths in Fates, enjoying all 3 playthroughs (Fave story: Conquest, Fave Gameplay: Revelations). I later bought Three Houses, Awakening, and Warriors. For me Corrin belongs in Smash. Bring me into a series part of a foreign genre for me at the time and I don't regret my choice.
But to me all of that wouldn't be as hype for me if it wasn't for Etika. He was like a solar system in DBZ, lending everyone that watched him his hyped energy with not just Smash but any game he played. Dude will always be phenomenal ad he's a legend in my eyes.

It is quite sad (and slightly annoying albeit understandable). Before the character got announced I went to an arcade. Instead of coins you used a card and the deal I got only allowed a handful of cabinets. That's when I found the KOF cabinet. Easily my favourite I poured most of my time into it and had a blast!
He may not be Steve levels of beloved and well known, but that doesn't demean the impact the character brought for many fans.

Also a little info here, Terry original franchise is Fatal Fury, just that the first game in the sieres was named Fatal Furry: King of Figthers, it was some years later that the same company released a crosover figthing game that included characters from various of its franchises that game being The King OF fighters

Steve was my most wanted character and seeing it be represented in Smash was one of the best things I could have ever asked for from it. I've wanted Steve since the day I discovered Brawl. I will never get over Steve's reveal in smash and the stupid smile I had seeing it.

I always thought I was alone in wanting Sora in smash cos none of my friends were into Kingdom Hearts, let alone knew what it was, so I was really REALLY holding out for him by the last fighter. And man I screamed so fucking loud when he was revealed.

[55:42] My Smash eu headcanon is that Sakurai originally wanted to put in Petey Piranha as a mindblowing reveal for the DLC characters (baiting a Brawl reference in the trailer), but couldn’t really come up with an adequate moveset for it, so he eventually just made Petey an ult. for Piranha Plant and presented the character more as an unlikely yet surprising fighter.
Genuinely my favorite RUclips channel, thank you Alex for going over all these insane reveals over the years. By the way, my favorite was probably King K, he's the character I didn't know I wanted until I got him :)

Terry Bogard is Fatal Fury character and the King of Fighters is fighting game crossover between SNK franchises, he's the poster boy of Fatal Fury and a mainstay in most KoF games. He's fun entry level character in FF and KoF.

It literally has been 6 years since Corrin's reveal and there are people who are still very furious about it. It really isn't as big of a deal as many people make it to be, and even if someone else was chosen instead of Corrin chances are they would have also not come with a new stage and came with very little music. There is really no excuse for why this was the case for Corrin beyond their development potentially being rushed.
@@anankos795 Yo sorry to change the subject but it’s honestly nice to see people who actually appreciate Fates, its one of my most favorite games and I’ve even been requesting Anankos get into FEH. I actually think Corrin is one of the most popular characters in all of FE but the community is just so toxic they try to make it out that nobody liked Fates or the characters when that’s obviously not true.
Gunner Dude 23 The reason fates sloppy story is because the story had to be reduced to 500 pages each pathway to about 40 due to limitations of the 3DS.

I still vividly remember the days Inkling, sans, Steve, and Sora were announced. I've loved this series and been playing it since brawl when I was 5. I've grown, played all the games at least a little, talked with friends about it, made friends through it, watched my sister gain interest in it, I even earned the money for a Switch so I could get Smash Ultimate for my birthday a year later, getting the DLC for another birthday years later, and now I have the money that I could get anything else that comes. But sadly there won't be any more that I think will impact me the same way. The morning I woke up to watch the Sora announcement was when I realized that this series has done more for me than I could ever realize. It's probably because because of these games that I'm such a Nintendo fan and have learned the history of each franchise within. Through it all Sakurai has given me something that nothing really matches the feeling of. And for that, I have supported any characters he added and still will if he just wants to retire.

Ultimate is the reason I actually even care about fighting games or watching trailers. Even if I couldn't care less about the fighter I always came to see who was next. I definitely hold Ultimate dear to me and I really believe something like this will never happen again,not even in smash's history

My favorite reveal is Ridley. I’ve never wanted a character in smash more than him. His trailer was like a Christmas morning moment for me, I had never been that excited about a video game character in my life. That set the tone for Ultimate

Looking at all of these trailers just made me smile, no matter who got revealed it still made me happy to see how far this game has reached and how it brings excitement to everyone.
Sora was the one character I wanted in for dlc. I am so glad he was the last choice. He was the one reveal that actually got me screaming.
As a Persona fan since 3, I especially found it mindblowing that Joker was revealed on my frickin' birthday, December 6th!
Though it would be cool if he was saved for the last DLC character; that way, he'd be the Last Surprise, lol.

This franchise will always have a special place in my heart for being the thing that got me into gaming as a whole. Say what you will about the community, but you can't deny the amount of heart and passion that was put into every single title. Hell, Ultimate was literally Sakurai's last promise to his best friend - Satoru Iwata. I think I speak for everyone when I say thank you Sakurai for making all of our childhoods that much greater - and thank you Alax, for this incredibly nostalgic overview of all the character reveals! I can't wait to see how they top Ultimate in the future.

Byleth’s inclusion was interesting because Sakurai said he played a version of Three houses with no endings to get a basis for their character, which means that Byleth was gonna be in smash before Three houses was even finished in development.
This video is PERFECT. You are a god, a legend, but I clearly remember that Melee had a website that showed all characters of the game, except for Mr. Game & Watch that was covered with the classic “?”. Very good job, man.
The character reveals for Ultimate were incredible of course, but I was also really impressed by other aspects that generated just as much hype, if not more. The internet lost its collective shit when freaking SANS showed up, the Cuphead reveal was just as hype inducing, and while I was a little disappointed at first, I can't even describe just how happy I am that Shantae made it in too, and was even the big Mii reveal that came with music, in a pack that included costumes from DMC and goddamn Skyrim.
Thanks for the nostalgia hit. I haven't seen that SSBB trailer in over a decade, but I still knew it beat for beat. Checking the Dojo every day. It was the first time I felt true hype for a game series. I hopped on the Gamefaqs SSBB boards where we freaked out over every tiny detail, and the SSBBSB became a place I stayed in for like 6 years. Until the game was out and played to death and we were just doing RPs and writing stories starring each other. It was my first sense of gaming community. It, and the characters revealed in it, will forever hold a place in my heart. That and the fucking "Remember Remember the 3rd of Decemeber when Smash Brothers would have been fought, I can think of no reason this holiday treason will ever be forgot" we ripped from V for Vendetta. God we were little edgelords at times XD

P.S. I recently bought a PlayStation and the first game I got for it was Persona 5 Royal. I am loving it.
While I know that there were five characters revealed on August 8th, to me, it's gotta be King K. Rool. I've wanted him for so long and, to me, he seemed to make the most sense as a fighter. When he finally was revealed, I broke out crying. And, most of all, all of this happened on my birthday. Turning 18 may not be the most memorable experience for everyone, but for me, this was the best unintentional birthday gift I ever got.

As a long time viewer and an [almost] life long Smash fan, this was an incredibly entertaining video to watch.
I started with Smash with Brawl and played it to death with my brother and our friends. I didn’t have a Wii U, so I only got to play Smash Wii U at friends’ houses. I did have the 3DS game, but I didn’t play it much because I only had the original 3DS.
Shortly before the Switch was announced, was when I found your channel and I slowly fell back in love with Smash and Nintendo as a whole. I remember watching your reaction stream for the Smash Ultimate reveal, and that’s what made me finally decide to pull the trigger on buying a Switch. I was in high school and had a summer job at the time, so the Switch was the first console I ever bought with my own money. I even remember sneaking in time at my summer job to watch your reaction to the Simon/Richter reveal.
Now I’m 21 years old working a night shift and still sneaking around to watch your stuff at work, and all I want to say is thank you for reeling me back into the world of Smash bros.
