Dick and the boys did a spine-tingling rendition of this song live last night in Scotia, CA, in honor of the soldiers and public service personnel who put their lives on the line for all of us every day. Truly, an awesome and inspiring performance from a pioneer of modern rock guitar!
This is a real moving rendition; the surprise really pays off especially as his strum feels almost like Appalachy claw hammer style. Adds a haunting lilt that’s something else. This is a hidden gem.
That made me cry Rest In Peace Dick - I miss you. This made me realize just how much. All the times that I saw you I enjoyed everyone of them and you were always so nice and friendly. God Bless.
God damn legend. There are very few guitarists that you know within two notes who it is playing no matter if it is a song they wrote or someone else’s. He has to be in the top three.
beautifulllllllllllllll! WOW! we recognize Sam Bolle' on bass guitar ... who is the talented drummer here (who also appears in many circa 2009 Dick Dale band shows) ?
One of the mighty mighty change makers and rule breakers! Brilliant. Party down with the crowd in rock and roll heaven! Thanks for the MUSIC, and all that it has and does mean!!! xoxoxo
Nobody plays this instrument better, not from the right side of the strings and not from the left side of the strings. Dick Dale has been blowing people away (and that includes Leo Fender) for a half century now. If D.D. has an attitude, on occasion, I figure he's earned it.
Well I know one thing that's for sure. Dick Dale had been tearing up that Fender Stratocaster, from the left side of the strings, for years before Jimi Hendrix stopped collecting baseball cards.
found this on Wikipedia about Dick Dale and it says it all "The "breakneck speed of his single-note staccato picking technique" as well as his showmanship with the guitar is considered a precursor to heavy metal music, influencing guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen." he is simply out of this world ..... awesome :D
I love Dick Dale.So blessed I got to him.His spirit will live forever.I don't understand how any music lover could visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without Dick Dale in it.That is true Injustice.
I like Dick Dale hes feeling something i dont want to mention, I help piss on people, Seems like Dick is adding his own hendrix thing naturally with age, I wish he would let himself get that! (he does) But it lies in the pit of mans fears and a summit of his knowledge imagination Dick dales signature style and deep rooted disquite about own worth 'jimi hendrix 45 years ago target cannoned by kids today, People dont know hendrix albums thrown together fast on tour daily for 2 years no sleep
I can't believe I saw him perform at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in, what, late-1963 or early 1964. I don't recall 'Amazing Grace' being in his repertoire then, but Misirlou was there, for sure. Anyway, hey, this 'Amazing Grace' would suit my 'don't go gently into the night' frame of mind, just fine.
Does anyone know if this version is recorded on one of his CDs? I saw him Tuesday performing in Sellerville, PA, and had to leave right after before I could purchase a disc....what an incredible performer! He is truly the most amazing guitar player in the world!
I only got to see the King perform once. I had to wait most of my life to catch a show near me, but what a show it was. Thank you for all the great songs through the years. When my time comes I want this version played at my funeral.
My husband Guitar Legend Dick Dale about to turn 80 years old in May... Long Live the King!

I've never had tears in my eyes while my head was bobbing and my feet were tapping. F***ing BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Salute! That man was all in!

I prefer this great ass song, surf music is the best in my heart.

Announcer: "I love that your guitar strap is a seat belt"
Dick Dale: "Well, I'm a pilot"
You can tell he's a pilot by how good his guitar chops are.
How fuckn cool was that?!?
R.I.P.
1 dislike didn't have speakers
Wow. I never knew this version of Amazing Grace existed today.
Wow
Cannot stop listening to this right now... Thanks Dick Dale!!!

He plays left handed, but just flips the guitar around. So it's still a right handed guitar. WTF is up with that ?
amazing grace - hope he plays it in heaven
@denispa
It's just how he learned to play. He's left handed but learned to play on his brother's guitar or something so he couldn't restring it.
RIP. You sir invented an entire music jandra...outstanding gift to the world...

That is a truly amazing rendition of Amazing Grace.
these guys look like there right out of that 70s show lol (drummer and bassist)
Really good, but he's giving instructions, which he doesn't have to do with Dusty and Ron .
