Watched a movie called Muscle Beach Party that was made in 1964 and Mr Dale was carrying the same gold strat around with him then in all the scenes, Now that is class.
OMG, love Sammy the bass player! He is so down to earth. Will be seeing Dick, Jimmy and Sammy on Saturday July 28th at Trader Lees in Ocean City, MD. Can't wait. This is the 8th year I've gone to see him. What a great guy on and off the stage.
Sam recognized me from past appearances and gave me an autograph on a guitar strap - then helped me get Dick's autograph on the same strap - in his last appearance in Denver, about six months before he passed. Sam is a really good guy and a regular guy to chat with. First class in my book!
saw him again last night , as usual I was right in front of the mike stand close enough to see pieces of his pick flying while he was shredding the strings.
He completely re-adjusted Leo's understanding of what guitarists truly want... Extravagance. Real great creatives have NEEDS. Period. Leo was liberated to create gear that could withstand and provide fuckery, and some of the most well measured and brilliant instruments. I prefer a marshall with a strat but frankly I'm not Dick Dale... If only I was 😲. Dick and Leo are easily the most potent pairing in the beginning of the mid century, and gave rockin the tools we needed. Just take in culturally what SoCal in the 50's was like getting to know the man behind the Strat and being one of the first to make magic with it!!! The Fender brand has lost it nowdays if I'm being honest
nope his first stringed instrument was a ukulele that he turned upside down and backwards and then he bought a right handed guitar he turned upside down and backwards from a old country guy out in the middle of nowhere for about $8.50 and at first didn't know what to do with the extra strings because he was used to playing a for stringed instrument
thats cool yeah one thing people must learn in life is that their is a lot of false information to be read in sources out there for example the guitar center in hollywood california trys to say jime hendrix created reverb in reality reverb started because dick wanted something to make his voice sound better so the first unit was created for him to plug him microphone into then he had the idea to plug the guitar into it because of the effect in had on the mic thats how reverb started
@@spottedsaint5776 aztec gold is a different color. Dale's guitar has a metalflake finish that Fender outsourced to a local autobody shop. They also finished a tele for George Fullerton and matching teles for Buck Owens and Don Rich.

Ride the waves up there, Surf King. Your guitar will echo in the universe until the end of time.
The man behind the Surf Rock sound. What a great sound. It sounds so simple yet the nuance and depth to his playing is mind boggling.
R.I.P Dick... You made a difference! Thank You
What an injustice that Dick Dale is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. How could they possibly not have knowledge of him!?🎸!!!!!!

Thank you, Guitar Center T.V.! This is exactly what I needed!

I love that he gives props to Joe Maphis. Joe was an awesome guitar player. Dick deserves more credit too.
Love this song.....Makes me think of surfing road trips.
that holy shit feeling when Dick Dale talks about somebody else's fierce picking..
In 1965 dick Dale was diagnosed with colon cancer and in 1966 Jimi Hendrix said that the day Dick dies that will be the end of surf rock
Absolute legend
modern guitar legend.
Many guitar players now use a different guitar for each song. Dick used one guitar all of these years.
Frusciante
Is that bass player Sam Bolle who used to play in Agent Orange?
Very, very cool!!
ЛЕГЕНДА!
Not sure if he is still touring but when I saw him live a few years back he was awesome...
saw him again last night , as usual I was right in front of the mike stand close enough to see pieces of his pick flying while he was shredding the strings.

NİCE MUZİK..
2:53 why does his guitar say GEDBA or ABDEG..?

Well, modern skateboarding now exists, so I'm sure it did.

Hahaha He does! :-)
wait, upside down and backwards?
Leftys are weird.
Mike Liptsyn He was playing a right handed guitar left handed and back in an age where they didnt have leftys it was very strange
Mike Liptsyn Although he never reversed his strings like Jimi Hendrix
That's the way Evie Sands does it--and Johnny Cash commented, "It's like she has electricity in those fingers.."
Pai e canhoto ...
For the unpatient ones skip to 2:36
does anyone know the exact color of that strat?? thinking its champagne metal flake. but i could be wrong.

The microfone turns a falic object in 0:21
Who cares what the name is. It's a song with no words. Why even name it. Hahaha!
the drummer kinda looks like Conan Obrien with a curly wig
@uglyfink Fender.....pft.
he's got more switches on his guitar than a south central thugg on his car!!
Never heard of this guy before, strange choice of stringing the guitar upside down with top E on bottom and bottom E on top etc.
