.....I SAW DICK DALE A COUPLE OF TIMES, AND HE WAS A "MACHINE"!!!! HE PLAYED FOR MORE THAN 4 HOURS, STRAIGHT!!!! ALL CONCERT, ALL THE TIME!!!! HE WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!
Guitar Legend Dick Dale pioneer and creator of his own genre of music in 1955 also the pioneer and creator of Fender Equipment with Leo Fender in the late 50s+60s Marking 62+ years in the business.
I think it is cool that me and Dick Dale share almost the same birth date the day that is so close and what a legend to share that with. May you R I.P. Mr Dick Dale.
Many Friday nights in 1963 thru 64 at the Harmony Park Ballroom in Anaheim, Ca me and my buddies would get our 1/2 pint and go hear and dance to Dick Dale and the Deltones. "Louie Louie " and all the great surf music. It was a great time. Then we'd go surfing the next morning with a hangover. And sometimes with black eyes or bumps and bruises from the fights that sometimes jumped off. I tried to steer clear of those. Great memories.
They FINALLY inducted the Ventures in the R&R Hall of Fame , but it eluded Dick. Frankly, I don't think he cared. He was too good for that in my opinion. RIP. The airwaves will NEVER be the same without you!
There will never be another. Godspeed Master Dick Dale! Go see Joey and His Showmen featuring Dicks friend and Protege Joey G on that Surf Guitar! Based in L.A. area.
As a lefthander myself, I'm always intrigued by the instrument and stringing choices artists make. Not many like Dick - playing a lefthanded model but strung upside down, as for a righty. Most commonly, you see lefties playing a righthanded model they've reversed the strings on so that the strings are in the proper sequence but the guitar itself is upside down. But all four flavors of lefty guitar playing are out there - righty guitar, righty stringing (everything upside down), righty guitar, lefty stringing (just the guitar upside down), lefty guitar, righty stringing (guitar right-side up but strings are upside down - like DD here), and lefty guitar, lefty stringing - (everything in it's originally intended configuration and orientation). I once saw Stevie Miller playing a white lefthanded strat that he'd restrung for his righthanded self. Love to know the story behind that guitar.
The RVZ/SRV hat dude had one hella view! Salute, thanks for the video👍 PS: what the holeyflyingfrickin shxxxt!!? Dick Dale is not in Rock And Roll Hall of Fame ?! Arghhhh...
I was there too Kevin and up front as well and recorded some of the show, but to the left of where you were. I didn't record this part, glad you did. Good job!
When they invented 'SURF MUSIC' like this, Dick was right there. Like '63 or '64 at the Rendezvous Ballroom, Balboa. Stompin'. We were goners, flipped our wigs forever!
@@dirkdiggler13 No, not really. Not into Strats for a start, except in the hands of Hendrix, Blackmore or Malmsteen. I’m 80 now, and have been playing for a good living for many years. I have seen Dale a few times. Just not my cuppa tea mate. If that is ok with you?
@@lesbois53 🤣Fine with me old timer, but it's weird that you took the time to tell a bunch of Internet strangers how you're just not into a guy when you could've just as easily scrolled on past. You know your unsolicited opinion isn't mandatory right?

There really is no other. This man mastered the sound of surf guitar, let alone the guitar itself, Rest In Peace you legend.

Much respect, didn't know he played strung upside down, RIP Legend.
It's on youtube somewhere. By the time Leo Fender pointed it out to Dick he'd learnt how to play upside down and stuck with it.
RIP Dick Dale, The King of Surf Rock!
Link wray, the chantays and the animals! Seriously awesome.

Who is playing bass?
Sam Bolle. He toured for years with Dick, and was a great partner. He also played in Agent Orange. Nice guy, I have spoken with him a number of times.
