They couldn’t go back out the portal, those demodactyls were guarding it and not only that they have those tentacles. They’ll just end up dragging them back or drown them trying to get away. It was a risk they weren’t willing to take.

Before this episode I had been a bit perplexed as to why Creel's wife and daughter died but his son just passed out. Good on the show for making the twist flow organically. I know a lot of people say it was predictable but I won't front, I was surprised 👌
Some people definitely guessed that he was 001, and maybe Vecna as well but if anyone says that they saw all 3 coming they're a liar lmao
In the earlier episode, I did notice that the little boy seemed distant from the family. It caught my attention but I forgot about it. I was not expecting the connection at the end!
I found it weird too but definitely never guessed that one was Vecna or that he was Creel's son. I figured there might've been something more but definitely a good twist and a half, which is saying something since I'm usually good at foreseeing plot twists.

I instantly knew that that guy was 001, it was clear as water when he talked about 001 to Eleven and I knew that he killed the others.
I knew something was off about Henry Creel since Victor said he was a "sensitive" boy, now there is nothing wrong with being sensitive, but It seemed a little off to specifically mention that, and I was even more sure about the boy being off when dead, tortured animals appeared in the house, that is not an entity, demon trope, that's what sick, possibly homicidal people do when they are children. By the time the boy wasn't shown being haunted by the curse or even dead at the end of the story I confirmed that yes, he had another connection to the story.
Having said that, the fact that he was also 001 and Vecna took me entirely by surprise and got me shook.
The fact that it made sense shows the writers brilliance.
A good plot twist is not one you didn't see coming, is one that you SHOULD HAVE seen coming.
Well Brenner did make El's mother go mad giving her shock treatments of 450 volts. Definitely evil to me.
Steve, Joyce, and Will are probably my top three in terms of favorites. But Murray has slowly been making his way up to the runner up spot with how much he's been carrying lately.
Murray has always been a favorite of mine since season 2 tbh. Something about him that's so charming and enjoyable.
My favs are Max, Will, and El

I disagree that Dr. Brenner is a good guy. He kidnapped a group of kid so he could experiment on them and exploit them, kept them from their families. He put Eleven's mother in a catatonic state when she tried to get her back. He allowed Eleven to be tortured when she wouldn't obey them including when she refused to kill a cat. This season we seem him torture Peter than he tortures number two even though he was bully to Eleven that was still child abuse. Peter may be manipulating her, but he still could be telling her the truth.

Same thing with Billy! You can hear the clock in his scenes!! Also, I read theories that said that Will survived the upside-down so long, because he always sang "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" 😭 This boy has been through so much, I just want him to be happy and safe!!

Steve being set up to get back with Nancy makes sense as Steve was originally supposed to be a more one-note jock asshole until the writers realized Joe Keery's insane charisma and likeability going forward. Ever since s2 he's been far more popular than Jonathan so I can't blame them for taking that direction
Steve was also supposed to die in season 1. It could still happen...saving Nancy
he is not being set up. Jonathan also is not being set up to break up with Nancy. He is just stressed for his family's issues.
They made Jonathan a goofy ass pothead, don't think he matches Nancy's drive n ambition and he knows that

The way I interpreted the items in the upside down is that not only is it just outdated, it’s all the things she’s outgrown, thrown away, or lost. It’s the past “ghost” items of the house, just like how the house itself is a negative echo of the real world. Nancy would have to throw away the guns or something like that to access it in the upside down.
I think the house was made the first time 11 open the gate, the mind flayer had no reason to update the settings
Just real quick but important note: it’s not the mid season finale. There’s only 2 episodes after this one. The last one is like 2+hours long though. I just didn’t want you guys to expect another 7 episodes after this one and be disappointed!

I hope Nancy and Steve don't get back together. They broke up for a reason and Steve deserves better than someone who called him and his feelings bullshit. Nancy can be super selfish in her relationships and often puts her emotional needs before anyone else's. I think Nancy and Jonathan should take a break in order to discover themselves without attaching themselves romantically to the first person who pays them any attention (like Nancy is doing with Steve during this season).

That's not too crazy to guess, the massacre at the lab has been presented since the start as one of the main focuses of the show, and Vecna has been presented as the main bad guy who's shrouded in mystery. Not a huge leap to think that the most important character and the most important event might somehow be related
