Rob I’ve got to agree with you on that blade insert mechanism. I own the M18 Fuel d handle version and it takes particular effort to get that blade all the way in and square. It bothers me every time I use it. Otherwise it’s a great saw. Thanks for the review, you guys hit it hard today with two big videos.

Always been a fan of barrel jig-saws they are easily controlled with one hand. Also enjoy a D handle grip it’s totally different and has it’s st of applications. Barrel grips are great for scroll cutting and I’ve done loads of that. Like this is brushless and a good looking tool, though I own 3 different BOSCH jig-saws and doubt they will even wear out.

Great review. I've been using this exact saw for a couple months now, and I've noticed a fair amount of deflection with the blade (at least compared to my awesome 15+ year old Bosch 1591). I also thought that by 2019, all jigsaws would have a tool-free shoe bevel adjustment; but this saw still uses an allen key (albeit, it is supplied and stores nearly on the shoe).

KEVINFERN0 look at the bright side, it won’t loosen over time due to vibration

I bought the older one for about 100$ on ebay, I don't need an expensive jigsaw, flooring guy so I just use it to cut curves and door jamb notches periodically, does the trick.

It also depends on what blade you use (and how sharp it is).

I'm still using the brushed version of this HD18PSD, and although it is 5 years old now it still works flawlessly, even the keyless blade change and the tool free base still do their job as new, but I do clean my gear regularly to maintain them so that maybe why they still work. P.S. I still use my HD18PD and C18ID that came together also lol they work what can I say I've seen newer tools destroy themselves in months but the older milwaukee tools just keep going if you take care of them and use them right.

Just got this jigsaw about 2 weeks ago and have used it probably half of those days and have had no issues with the blade holding mechanism nor with putting new blades in. I tried at least a dozen times switching blades and it's ejected the blade on its own everytime and was able to insert a different blade properly everytime also.
Just wanted to let others know. Don't know if that means I got lucky or if the problem is fixed.
Btw love the saw and have had no issues or complaints about it.

If you don't get the blade seated all the way in it can turn sideways on you. When mine was brand new it was a little bit stiff, and this happened a couple of times. I check every time to make sure the blade is seated properly and it's always straight.

I have this saw and use it all the time. Comparing it to my Bosch corded, i prefer the corded. This thing is friggin loud. Like extremely loud. I never needed ear muffs with the corded. I have to wear them with this. It also seems to be very aggressive. I have tried different speeds cutting 5/8 baltic birch and the corded is smoother with the same blades. I don't know why that is. All that being said, on the job site i use this one because of the convenience. and it is nice to use despite the noise. Its heavy with the battery, however it seems balanced and it plunge cuts very well.

Hey tyler, did u got the same issue with the blade position? I want to buy one of this Jigsaw, how is it going your experience?

  • @1BrianFantana1
    @1BrianFantana1 4 года назад +1

I have this saw, I find it unbalanced , the battery should be oriented the other way vertically or on a 45 degree angle. The saw is not comfortable to hold next to the switch I find I do the cut then I have to re adjust my hand once I've finished the cut to switch it off when using it one handed.
I find the speed controller wheel very cheap and i think in time it will move on its own. I noticed the issue with the blade change being just a bit hit and miss.
That plastic clip that covers the light is stupid it should've had a switch I totally agree.
For the price I feel like the tool should be tooless adjustment on the bevel, it's one of the most expensive jigsaws.
One other small niggle is that on one side of the saw you can feel something moving under the rubber when it's running not sure if that will be an issue later!
One thing I've noticed with Milwaukee is that the first gen tool they release always has big issues that don't get sorted till later

Hello Rob. I have exactly the same jigsaw. And I agree with all con’s and pros. You start to show that clear plastic, I start to remember that it is not easy to fit it and you say it. That amazing.
Might if you have a video or might as idea can you tell for which task you should better use classic jigsaw with top handle, and when it is better to use this mushroom type jigsaw;) as for me top handle can be handy in more situations, than mushroom type.

I’ve had m18 fuel one key hammer drill go back twice and it’s on it’s way back to service center Tuesday for another problem. I’ve had a m18 brushed angle grinder burn completely up while scoring concrete. M18 fuel sawzall just up and quit working....replaced my manufacturer. 18v job site fan won’t work a/c mode......m18 fuel brad nailer had to go back for repair, these problems occurred during 2018.

I don't want the machine to dictate the speed of the blade... i want a variable trigger on the jigsaw.... Makita did the same thing with their brushless jig... i took it back and replaced with the old brushed one. In my opinion this is a step back in technology, a pointless invention.

Hi, what blades would you recommend to use in a jigsaw? I tried Bosch, but I could never get a square cut no matter what I tried. The blades are somewhat bendy, so maybe I'm using the wrong blades. I even exchanged my jigsaw to see if that was the issue. Thanks.

I've had problems numerous times with Milwaukee 18V tools and will not buy any more of their stuff. The Bosch tools I have are still good. Don't buy the Milwaukee 18V hammer drill with quitting in less than a year and the chuck tightening ring slips-it won't tighten or release a drill bit. The electric brake has quit on the drill; it keeps spinning. I want tools that offer a reliable performance for all the offering from a single company and Milwaukee is a joke.

Sorry but for me at least, this review feels too much like slick "influencer-style" - not to say that's the case, just giving feedback of my reaction. Sometimes i think a review has that feel to it even if there's some negative points in there, too.
