I use the Milwaukee almost every day in the shop and can vouch that it's a great saw. The variable speed trigger works perfectly, stops on a hair, it's easy to control and you can precisely cut along the edge of a pencil line. It does have one flaw which is the shoe lock lever comes loose really easily and will even vibrate open by itself. I had to wedge a small shim in the side to lock it shut... The is especially annoying considering how hard it is to get the batteries out. Some things too loose, some things too tight... I'm looking at the Dewalt and it looks great, nice and compact but theres a lot of shoe in front of the blade which blocks the view of the cut line. You never cut without looking at where the blade is on the cut line, so that looks like a bad design choice. The Milwaukee shoe is minimal in front of the blade so you can see what's going on easily.

As a carpenter and cabinet maker for decades, the most important thing on these saws is the shoe design.

I bought both to decide which one I was gonna keep. Dewalt is smaller, has better weight distribution, and vibrates less so it feels better on your hand but the most important factor to consider is that Dewalt cuts cleaner and smoother even with a 2.0 Ah battery
Milwaukee went back to the store and I kept the Dewalt!

I think it's a win with either one of these saws. I love them both, but definitely comes down to feel and personal preference of the user. Thanks Neo!

Bro! Excellent review. I have the previous gen Dewalt jigsaw. No complaints. The new brushless motor is an improvement. The milwaukie has actual dust collection & seems to cut faster but I think precise cuts should be deliberate & slower movement's, so the RPM diff isn't an issue for me. I do like the blade change better on the new Dewalt & 2 L.E.D.'s. So for me, the Mikwaukie looks great but the Dewalt would be better.

Got both with the black Friday sale. I really like the blade release on the Dewalt and the I felt the Dewalt has less vibration and two LEDs make the cut line more clear. Ended up returned the Milwaukee.

I know that I am late to show here but if ya wanna know what I would to see changed or added...at least as a option is a more narrow shoe for certain occasions. For example cutting out a hole for kitchen sink.....the shoe is 2 wide to get close enough to the splash guard to make the necessary cut.....just thinking out loud.

Both saws look great. Really, you can’t go wrong with either. I also love the new Dewalt blade release lever. Best one, ever. I used the older DCS331 jigsaw for probably 6 years. I had two of them. When the DCS334 came out I sold my 331 and picked up the new one. Took me a while, I was so happy with my DCS331 that I didn’t think they could improve. I love the variable speed trigger on a jigsaw and I was afraid they took that away in favor of the speed dial. With the new DCS334, I get the best of both worlds! Speaking of the Milwaukee jigsaw, really nice saw. It has a faster blade stroke speed. Honestly I find I set my speed to “2” on the dewalt - maybe I just like a slower speed. But in your video that Milwaukee saw was smooth as silk! Fast and smooth, can’t go wrong with that combination, ever. I can’t see anyone regretting the purchase of either one of these. I chose Dewalt because I had so much success with its predecessor the DCS331, and I have a stockpile of their batteries.

    • @heut4384

No...I will not buy Milwaukee's jigsaw. I bought mine 3 years ago and I really wished I should have gotten Dewalt. Milwaukee's jigsaw is a little harder to cut and it does NOT cut accurate. If you're trying to change blades, sometimes I have to re-align the blades if I don't set it right. If not, the blades will fall off when you're cutting. So NO...I will not buy Milwaukee. BUY Dewalt. You will be glad.

  • @MAGAMAN

The Dewalt feels like it is more likely you will accidentally release the blade. I also have never thought I needed an adjustment for the speed on my jigsaws I have used. So one is a negative and one is just not useful, IMO. The Milwaukee is lacking what I would consider a very important feature, which is the markings for the shoe angle. I feel like the Milwaukee is better overall, but the missing markings for the shoe angle are a pretty big deal.
I am neither a Dewalt nor a Milwaukee fanboy, but I do have mostly Dewalt tools, but I have just bought some Milwaukee tools and will have 3 batteries, so both companies are on my list now.

  • @PatriotPaulUSA

Bosch Invented the T shank Blades we all love over 25 years ago (the patent is now run out) Dewalt and Milwaukee started using them as soon as it did. Bosch invented the dust blower that keeps your line clear as well, they invented the toolless blade change also and theirs always had a 9 ft cord so it wouldn't unplug itself ripping 8ft sheets. Bosch dominated the 110 volt jigsaw market with theirs for 25 years. Ask any old carpenter. Bosch is the one you need to beat. I however like the Makita for a low priced alternative. Makita always paid Bosch a patent fee and used T shank blades on many of their better quality jigsaws for decades. I just bought my 18 volt Makita for 119.00 bare tool I already have 18 volt Makita batteries/charger though. I am sure if you have dewalt stuff already their saw is fine . If you have Milwaukee already their saw is fine too. If You have neither and you just want the best jigsaw, your looking for a Bosch. Each Company has a couple tools that are their best , In Jigsaws ,Rotary Hammers,Jackhammers, metal shears, Its just about impossible to beat Bosch.

However, on this particular tool, I actually like the Dewalt better, based on the reviews I've seen and read. But since I've already got a bunch of M18 batteries and chargers, I'm gonna stick with red. I think that is how these companies want it to go, right?

This is the brand new Dewalt so it's not surprising it's got the edge-they've been working to improve the odd last gen model.
Also, people should wise up and stop buying from big box stores who MUST adhere to MAP Policies (minimum advertised price) and they are making MASSIVE profits off everyone buying there. Find yourself a reputable brick and mortar who doesn't play the stupid games and you will be shocked at the pricing differences. Dewalt DCF887 from Homeless Despot is $130-I get it for $90 from a normal store, and prices follow suit for almost everything that isn't brand new.

The Milwaukee seems to cut faster and I like the open face better so I can see the blade cutting.

Festool...get out of here way to expensive regardless of how much I enjoy green & Grey!? Sustainers or something like that lol cases are nice Fein jumped in the mix with a nice orange one to link up, but still dewalt 3pc tough system for $99 is a great deal (upgrade the cart later for the G’d up version with shelves!) back to America! Check out the barrel grip review I just did Eric. Some seem to like that much more. My opinion though, I like the Milwaukee the most

@@ToolReviewZone Thanks, I'll check it out now. They're all pretty compelling but I'm definitely leaning towards M18.

I like the Milwaukee better. The bigger shoe for me is a plus. It also sounds like the Milwaukee has more power and cuts smoother.

Im a red guy, but the jigsaw and the oscillating tool by dewalt I like better, because of the grip and the compact design. Milwaukee in both tools seem bulky and have a huge grip.... unfortunately it’s not enough for me to start another eco-system of batteries ...

Love my dewalt 20v max xr. Cuts great, has all the bells and whistles, has plenty of power and is $20.00 cheaper. DEWALT FOR THE WIN!

I got the Dewalt. I’ve got 4 other Dewalts so the keeping in the battery line just makes sense for me. I’d love to see a lock on switch for longer cuts. But I have a corded one that has that if I need it. 😎

I will take whichever one my neighbor has as I am to CHEAP and to much of a PENNY PINCHER to spend over 100 bucks on a saw. I couldn't care less about the color as long as it cuts and gets the job done.

it would be nicer if they made the jigsaws smaller or lower to the workpiece, saying hat I prefer the barrel grip.
