QUESTION OF THE DAY: What's the most common woodworking item you use a jigsaw for? Would you be more likely to hook up dust collection to it or use the blower feature?
My first jigsaw was a hand me down from my dad, a small handle Makita which I still have and use, it's days are about over. I'm liking this Barrell handle Milwaukee, since I own other Milwaukee cordless tools this would make sense for me.
I still have a vintage Rockwell given to me by my great uncle. It's around for the memories and my Milwaukee one is the go-to for getting the job done.
Dad had a Rockwell too in the 70's, I liked it so much I bought a Red Makita almost the same in the 90's.Still have it along with and Blue sawsall, and Drill, all plug ins. I found bosch blades worked the best.
I got an old Craftsman that was my dad's and it's served me pretty well actually. Problem is it's corded, which sucks and gets in the way, and it takes the blades with the U-shape and hole you secure with a screw. I've never found blades for it in a store, only online, which is a problem. I think because I'm used to that, I think I'm going to go with the D-handle, offers more control too. I'm more of a DIY person who happens to woodwork, rather than a real woodworker. An advanced woodworker probably would appreciate the barrel handle so you can see what you're doing easier. I'll probably be safer with the D-handle.
For me, I probably use it most for “rough” scroll cut. I would hook it up to either my smaller Milwaukee or Festool vacuum. The backpack vacuum would be great on a job site where you are moving room to room, or vacuuming the wood or tile floors at home.
My father has that same one! Came in a metal box and the blade locks/unlocks by twisting the button on top of the tool. Great machine! He's had it for 20+ years and it's still working great. It's one of those tools that will last forever.
The barrel handle is great makes me wonder why I waited so long to switch handle types also with this tool if you are making winding cuts you and use scroll blades which give you a cleaner cut .. This saw maneuvers so nice it’s worth the extra money to switch over and cordless is the way to go …
@@MarkThomasBuilder I think thats exactly what there doing.. But at $130 Australian $$ for 1 pack out box large enough to hold the sds rotary hammer I wont be buying them.
It's all personal preference. Several people I know like the barrel grip and others like the D handle. Milwaukee makes both. I'd say my preference is the D handle.
Love the Variable Speed Feature on this... I've the Milwaukee D-Handle Jigsaw i wish they have a Variable Speed Dial on it... Got the D-Handle Jigsaw over the Barrel Grip Jigsaw because i've very "BIG" hands and the Barrel Grip will feel awkward/clumsy..
I have big hands as well and I feel I have more freedom for my hands and prefer the barrel grip much more and easier to maneuver … a scroll blade work great in curved and tight areas also

I don’t do a lot of comments but I watch all your videos as they are very informative.
Thanks for sharing Larry, glad to hear it.
I only do very minor work around the house. I just got this for Father’s Day Thanks for your detailed review.
Ohh, nice gift! This should come in handy if you keep it close by, along with a blade kit.
I think both the blower and the vaccume are equally great. I love the versatility there.
Milwaukee also has a more compact version, the M12 Barrel Grip Jigsaw which I'll be reviewing soon.

That's cool! I'll have to compare some Bosch to the Diablo ones I have. Cheers!

Yes, I'm liking the backpack vacuum so far. I need to find storage for it that's at the same level as my back.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Ah, good point.
I have a bosch barrel grip corded....very good tool.....your videos are very informative.thanks so much
Thank you, glad to hear it!👊

Thank you for mentioning the holes for the guide and the fact Milwaukee don't make one. I was wondering about this.
You bet. 😎 👍
No mention of the D handle, misleading tittle. I am trying to figure out if I want a D handle or Barrel grip. Otherwise a decent video.
I didn't own the D handle at the time, but now I do and plan to make a comparison video. Sorry for the confusion.
A steak knife was my 1st jig saw..
Haha😂
i prefer the D handle...better control over the tool in my opinion
I'm going to have to try a cut comparison of the two types on both straight lines and curve lines.

Yes, cordless is a great feature. I need to do a comparison of the barrel grip to the D handle.

Personally I’ll always use barrel grip saws my employees like them as well … DeWalt and Milwaukee are on my trucks
Just pay attention on the vibration of the jig saw , there is a guy on RUclips shows comparisons of the dewalt and Milwaukee, big difference
Interesting, I'll have to look for that comparision.
thank you for the review!
You bet!
I got the festool one…its very good
Cool, I'll have to check that out.
Good review Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Craftsman was the 1st one and I still have an old 1 👍🏻🍻🍺🤙🏼
I had an older Craftsman for several years. I don’t think it had a variable speed trigger. It was all or nothing!😅🍻👊
@@MarkThomasBuilder I think mine's 30 plus years old Is still works
@@MarkThomasBuilder question, how does the Flex Jigsaw stack up to this Milwaukee?
It drives me crasy that Milwaukee dont supply cases for there skin only tools!! I didnt buy the SDS Hammer drill today for this exact reason!!!
Maybe they're thinking the users will store their tools in a Packout case or Packout drawers? I plan to work on that over the next couple of months.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I think thats exactly what there doing.. But at $130 Australian $$ for 1 pack out box large enough to hold the sds rotary hammer I wont be buying them.
Where are you using this saw? 1994? Yes you lost með at allen key for bevel adjustment.
Haha, maybe the D grip would be better. No allen key needed.
@@MarkThomasBuilder or just go for far supriour Dewalt DCS335 :D
Aren't you meant to hold the barrel grip with your thumb in the front groove, no? Closer to the head?
Probably so. I've had the D-handle jigsaw my whole life, so I'm still adjusting to the barrel grip.
Milwaukee 👊👍👌
💯👊
Super Tool★★★★★
💯😎
what is the benefit of this Milwaukee jigsaw over the D-handle ones? thanks
It's all personal preference. Several people I know like the barrel grip and others like the D handle. Milwaukee makes both. I'd say my preference is the D handle.
The point of the barrel grip is to be held upside down since jigsaw cuts are inherently cleaner on the underside
Can u make a review on the m18 back pack vacuum?
Sure, I've had that on my list, but will get to it sooner now that you put in a request. Thanks for stopping by.👍

Interesting... My take on this barrel grip is that it has a larger circumference, so it fits larger hands fairly well.
