Umm that was level 5 he died on...
"Unless you just happen to remember playing a cocktail cabinet at Pizza Hut." Yes, literally this! Playing the Donkey Kong cocktail cabinet in the corner of the Pizza Hut dining room while eating your Book-It personal pan pizza.
And that's why the joysticks and buttons are mounted the way they are...If they were flat upright, all of that pizza sauce and drinks are going to take it down rather quickly! My first love of Pizza Hut having games was 1942 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles :)
I have fond memories of my husband playing Tetris on a cocktail table at a coffee shop we hung out at in college. If I had the room, or wherewithal, I’d definitely want one of those. A cocktail table is definitely more of a hangout thing.
Looks like the boys cleaned up the store floor a bit.

GoPros are fixed-focus lenses and aren't good for any closer than about a couple of feet.

I remember the arcades of the early 80s.
83 was an awesome year.
So many iconic games.
It is funny how some people remove SMD capacitors. They push down and twist. Then they take a soldering iron to clean up the pads, remove what's left of the legs, and then solder in a new one. On those, tack it in from one end, firmly solder the other one, then redo the first one.
I mentioned that because of the pliers discussion.

When I was a kid growing up in Jacksonville, I remember going to an arcade called Hobby Oasis II. The main floor was for all of the stand-ups, but they had a rather large section designed for the table tops. I enjoyed the Bally/Midway Tabletops because of the design. I liked how they placed the controls right in front of you. I did not like the way Nintendo designed theirs because the joystick was hard to maneuver, However, I did have a special place in my heart for the Cabarets.

Cocktail video games were in the local hotel back in the day. Our city otherwise didn't really have many video games, so this format is pretty much the norm to me. Very nice version.
OK going in cold and playing a cocktail table version and getting that far is impressive.

you can bring back the home button on Android you go to the settings then accessibility then click system controls and set the system navigation to 3 buttons i hated it when google decided to go with gestures like a iPhone but u can still change it back at least
The uprights look better than the cocktail tables too since they have artwork on the sides.

Pizza Hut I remember playing a few games in them.
Waiting for a table and waiting for the pizza, it was so cool.
Just from looking at the thumbnail: One of the background character ROMs is broke. One of the two ROMs will make the foreground colors weird, the others will make the backgrounds a solid color.
And I was wrong.
Guess the decoder PROM next to the background character ROMs had corroded legs.
There are a million reasons not to get a cocktail table vs an upright, but you can set your pizza down on these! I love em! I'm pretty sure the first coxktail table I ever saw was a Donkey Kong when I was 7.

I was the technician at Arizona Cigarette and Amusement company in 1980. Made My bread fixing these things when a few of the guys "knew how to swap chips and boards," yikes!

Instead of filing chip legs to get tarnish off of the legs, buy a jar of silver cleaner. Use a needle nose pliers to hold the chip and swish it around in the silver cleaner. Rinse in water and you're good to go. Legs will be shinny again.

8:40 I think there's third-party switches you can get and program to only control the zoom on it
the staging sequences on this is weird and different from what i was used to. it used to be 25 meters the ramp 50 meters the pie factory 75 meters the lifts and 100 meters the falling building. not a bad thing but just feels strange when your used to seeing how the stages come up a certain way. maybe its a dip switch setting. Looks great though.
The American version is different, were you playing the American board back in the day?

That type of cocktail table is no go. The controlls stick straight out of the side.
It's super akward for obvious reasons.
It makes you feel more like you are fondling something than playing a game. It's just weird.

I repaired one DK cocktail that the monitor burnt a hole in the circuit board.
Presumably no-one makes CRT monitors any more. What's going to be the fate of arcade restorations when there's no more serviceable CRT's left in the world...? If we, as a species, want to keep oldy timey games still playing, I guess they will have to be converted to use LCD, OLED or whatever is around at the time. I guess that's OK (ish) for raster games, esp as display technology improves, but what about vector games a la Asteriods, Tempest, etc. For such a niche market, is any manufacturer going to have an incentive to create panels that emulate vector displays well enough to be indistinguishable from the originals. Perhaps such thoughts might make an interesting topic for a future videos.

You need a regular HD recording camera that has macro capabilities. I used to do photography with models (people), products, and landscapes. Your GoPro can't deal with components that small, that close. I own two GoPro's. and yeah, someone steered you wrong.

Yeah, I should of done more research, I got the wrong camera. I got frustrated because I've bought 3 HD Sony cameras and people still complain its not HD so i got a go pro. I may just start using my phone at this point
@@LyonsArcade Honestly, my phone (a samsung 223 ultra) does incrediblt macro. But, there are much better regular digital point and shoot cameras that are FAR cheaper than a phone.
By the way, I have a Williams driver board, DMD, and sound board from a STTNG machine (they aren't broke) I upgraded, trade for a tshirt??
