    I’m excited to make these! Starting tonight. I recently joined a strength training program to lose 3 to 5% body fat and turn it into muscle. I am vegan, 5’ 4” , 123 to 125 pounds. I don’t need to lose weight, but I need to lose body fat and build muscle. This is so perfect! Thank you!

    I add 1/4 tsp Lemon Extract to my blueberry overnight oats for a little zing.

    I really appreciate your focus on plant-based, high-protein, low-fat cooking. I have an oat intolerance, so I use flaked barley to make a high protein overnight porridge. Flaked barley (or flaked wheat) is a great substitute for those of us who can't eat oats. I also cut the barley with TVP to up the protein, but keep the calories under control without really changing the texture of the porridge too much. The basic recipe (0.25c flaked barley, 0.25c TVP, 1c almond milk, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1c frozen berries) ends up being around 360 calories and 40g of protein. I belong to a recreational dance company and dance 7+ hours/week and I also strength train, so I need over 100g of protein each day, but I also need to keep the calories in check. You guys are one of the few plant-based channels that actually address my nutrition needs. Keep making the great content!

      Holy Smoke Elizabeth, you need your own show! Great job on the substitutions. Your Macros are much better than mine.

    Again I can’t say enough how refreshing it is to see vegan recipes that are ACTUALLY high protein AND are low/moderate in overall calories. Like you said, folks will give “wow omg high protein vegan recipes!!” and it’s all nuts, seeds, and beans then maple syrup or cashew something-or-other on top …😂 what. You do the math and it might be 25g protein if you’re lucky but then hella carbs and fat. Absolutely fine if you’re not on a body recomp journey but not for me.
    Anyway, I’ve been doing this resistance training + high protein vegan stuff for a few years now and it’s completely changed me. Loving what you’re doing here on this channel and love your transformation so far!! Keep inspiring!

    If you add some lemon zest to the blueberry one, it would take it up a notch and taste Soo good!

    Chocolate, in general, is not my favorite food, but I love chocolate cherry overnight oats. Basically it's chocolate protein powder, soy milk, oats, flax, and frozen dark cherries. Sometimes I will sprinkle a few mini chocolate chips on top.

    So I am also kind of OCD with premixing sauce ingredients or dry spices or whatever before combining with the other ingredients - my baby whisk and sometimes the frother get a workout in my kitchen almost every day. Don't really know if it makes a difference, but that's just how I roll.

    These a look delicious! Chocolate peanut butter combo is always a win in my book, but the strawberry banana looks good as well! I do love Earthchimp! It mixes so well! I made a carrot cake overnight oats and it was so good! I didnt need to premix the protein powder.

    Congratulations on Lex's graduation 🎉 I almost forgot about overnight oats. These looked so awesome that I ran 🏃‍♀️into the kitchen. I just made the blueberry one for tomorrow morning. I added a few drops of maple syrup and used Eden Soy Unsweetened Milk 12g of protein. Thanks so much! Yay! 💙

    Question - my son is going to be a freshman and still sleeps through alarms... When did your son start waking up without a nudge? Serious question 😅

      umm...I still woke Lexx up every morning right up until the last day of school this year. I will let you know how it goes in August when he has to get himself up. We both were at the same school so I just woke him up and we went to school together and came home together. Now his schedule will be different and he will be at the college. Lets hope it happens on its own.

    Hey I’m curious if you know, can we add creatine as well? Or will the creatine alter the flavor/ consistency? Will the creatine in the overnight oats still be “ as effective” When I drink it the following morning?

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  4 месяца назад

      I add creatine every day to my actual shakes and I don't notice any aftertaste, but I have never tried adding it to the oats

    Question - I’m not a big fan of protein powder. Are there any other options for adding protein?

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  Месяц назад

      Yes, you can add chia, hemp, flax, or anything like that with extra protein in it. It would just raise the calories.

    Does Earth Chimp protein powder alone have a banana taste? I really like the ingredients in Earth Chimp, but it does contain banana, the one and only food I really do not care to eat. I know that makes me an odd vegan, but I keep trying to like it to no avail.

    • @PlantBasedDads

      Did you see the study that showed you shouldn’t eat bananas with fruits with polyphenols (if you want the benefits from the polyphenols) because bananas have a compound that more or less zaps them, ha. Physionics did a video on the study. They did blood tests on the study participants feeding foods with polyphenols with and without bananas. Interesting. So the suggestion was not to eat them together.

    Earth Chimp is soooo much better than the Costco brand, I ran out of Earth Chimp this morning and had to use the other one...such a disappointment.

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  4 месяца назад

      We keep the Costco brand on hand at all times in case there is a time when we are between bags of Earth Chimp but I never use it. Tim says he can taste the stevia aftertaste in the Costco brand and I don't use it because there is oil in it. We are not oil free anymore but there is just no reason to have oil and some of the other ingredients in it.
