Cooking for your college kid doesn’t make you a helicopter parent! As they get older and have to deal with the world and its challenges more on their own, coming home to a delicious meal is a way we can support them. I’ll never stop until they move out! Saying “I made you a nice plate” gives me joy to say and I always get a smile.
Thanks. I want him to stay as long as he can. I don't want to rush him out of the house. But I do need to teach him to do some stuff for himself. He probably already knows from watching and working with me, but at long as I am already doing it for him, he just lets me.
Looks great -- I buy the shredded cabbage slaw mix (no dressing) and add that to my salads with the lettuce to add some color and cruciferous veggies. I'd shred my own cabbage but I'm only cooking for one and a whole head of cabbage is a lot to get through. My latest experiment is to grow my own cherry tomatoes and miniature red peppers. hydroponically. Every week i try to cut up all my veggies if nothing else gets done for food prep at least I made it as easy as possible to eat them.
Joey & Tim, I have to tell you both you've really given me an improvent in my protein levels since you began doing your increased protein programme. Thank you. I've really upped my protein and exercise levels and am losing weight too, even though I haven't really changed a lot in the things I like and eat all the time. If I'm not going to be able to do a green salad because I've had, or will have, a busy day I do a green smoothie with 30 gms plain 100% pea protein in it (I put 30 gms in my morning steel cut oats, berries etc). I really appreciate the inspiration. I'm an older lady and it's really improved my quality of life (the good vibes came all the way across the Pacific to Sydney AU) ❤
You’re looking great! Prep is the key-we have been off schedule and have been short prep time for a few weeks so have been struggling a bit. This weekend is for getting back on track! Plan is roasting veggies and potatoes, having greens, fresh veggies, and prepped grains to make bowls. Roasted tofu cubes. I’ll have ingredients ready to make a couple sauces for flavor.
Thanks for the video!! I meal prep too every Sunday. This week I made chickpea salad, vegetable soup, a broccoli and mushroom stir fry, two blocks of tofu, brown rice, white rice, hummus, chocolate pudding. If we don't plan we will fail. 😊
Feel some new T-shirts coming on ("if you don't have a plan - it's over!", "this lunch has 'success' written all over it". Chickpea salad is my old time favourite so watching this has made me feel very hungry, a messy eater here - so I like mine served inside a warm wholemeal pitta. I know I'm repeating myself, but planning with Cronometer and meal prepping on Sunday have been really helpful for me. Really like the noodles idea for kids, I don't think we have those here - but we should! Thanks guys, another great video, I always learn something new! Have a good week🥦
That’s how I do it too - I prep ingredients, not whole meals. That way allows for more creativity. I have been making your cheese sauce for months! Thank you.
Wow, I did not know PB2 had cashew powder.... definitely going to purchase some. Also, love the tip on the tofu cutter, just ordered it to make life easier. I've never been a gadget person but there are some that I do believe are must haves and for me this is one of them. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone and making a meal prep video Joey...lol I enjoy the ideas even though I am retired now I still like to make a weeks worth of meals for my husband and stick them in the fridge for when I am on bike tours. It helps him stick to a healthy diet.
Am I the only one who noticed how much Joey actually loves that tofu? lol, he picks it up lovingly “it’s all breaded and cooked and brown “. 😂 Haha, I love me some tofu too and this recipe is so simple - definitely going to try it out.
Everything looks so good, once again a wonderful video. I love tofu I usually freeze mine and let it thaw before pressing. It gives it more of a meaty texture!
Hi Joey and Tim! I love these videos! I just went to the gym today and got my first scan which recommended 164g protein 😂. I probably will do an amount lower (it also recommended 35% fat!) Today I got in my order of TVP and Earthchimp, so I am ready to start following your recipes! Looking forward to it.
Thank you for this. I’ve been getting more into “food prep” since I am not as excited about eating the same exact thing four days in a row (though it’s better than NOT having anything prepared; I now eat two and then freeze the additional servings (if possible), to be able to have quickly if I hadn’t had a chance to even get to the grocery store). I like being able to switch up things and then using a sauce to tie it all together. Thank you for sharing that you eat tofu as a “snack;” that could be a much better choice for me (especially at the end of the day if I have calories to eat in order to reach the goal given by my trainer). Key is to have it already PREPPED so it’s easier for me to reach for that instead of anything else that may be hindering my progress. I appreciate y’all so much! 😊👋🏾❤️
Seriously, I eat most of that bowl of tofu as a 200g snack. I measure it out and it fills me up between meals. Its loaded with protein and its low in calories. It's a win win. I make sure to prep 4 blocks every sunday. It helps that Coscto has them ready to go.
Great ideas!! I never thought of using corn starch on the tofu but it looks crispy and yum! Joey have you ever tried Seitan? It's all vegan, it has 18g or protein per serving at only 90 calories! We've been using Upton's Naturals - Traditional Seitan - good stuff!! I usually make a stir-fry with lots of veggies and pour that over my chopped salad. I've also been experimenting with a PB2 and a scoop of protein in the dressing. Deelish!! 😋😄Loving these high protein meals!!!
Hi Joey. I am interested in that vegan for everybody cookbook. Can you tell me if a lot of it is Whole Foods or is it typical what people think is vegan with coconut milk and oil and everything else? Thank you. I mean I know I can omit the oil, I just mean the other stuff I appreciate it, and always love your content. I love chickpea salad. I’m going to try your version. I usually do the no tuna salad by forks over knives and use sweet pickles instead of dill. I also love red onion. I’m just curious why do you not put chopped red onion, right in the chickpea salad? 😊
It's about 18 years old so it is not by any means a whole foods book. But, the chickpea salad recipe is from that book. I have made three dishes from it and they are all amazing. I could put the onions in the chickpea salad for sure. But I like them as a topping.
Kathy Hestler needs to follow your new plan, seems like her and her partner have been on Dr M's plan for quite a while and they don't seem to have lost any weight, I follow their channel and from what I can see, they aren't getting results. (NOT BASHING just saying they may need to switch things up) I'm a 31 year vegan, I lift and prioritize plant protein.
I had to learn that myself too. Years of the starch solution were not doing it for me. The problem with starches is that they are so low in protein. You have to eat thousands of calories in starches to get a decent days protein if you are trying to preserve muscle and maintain strength. It is almost like a vegan taboo to even talk about that. Right? Thanks so much for being on this journey with me.
@@PlantBasedDads You are so right, protein even plant sourced is a game changer. The Vegan Gym is a good resource as well. Thx for sharing your journey with all of us 💘
We love you all! Thanks so much for supporting our show. Are you meal prepping on Sunday? If you dont plan, you cant succeed. Lets do this together.
Omg! You two look awesome! Way to go! Love your videos!
For The Bolognese 3 celery stalks is a TON of celery.
Are you sure you didn't just put three celery *ribs* in the instapot?

That’s all great, but teaching them or having them cook with you is even more valuable for that child and their future.
Thanks. I want him to stay as long as he can. I don't want to rush him out of the house. But I do need to teach him to do some stuff for himself. He probably already knows from watching and working with me, but at long as I am already doing it for him, he just lets me.

I am right there with you two, looking for high-protein vegan options while I build muscle! Thank you so much!
We are doing this together, baby!!
Love the salad idea! It's nice to have reminders of how simple meals can be...throw some veggies + chick'n strips in a bowl. So simple and so yums!
I plan, plan, plan! It is the only way I get through the whole week.
Me too. I have to meal prep or I’ll fail. It’s trickier cause my hubs is not vegan so I make vegan food and just give him his meat

Freezing & thawing tofu before cooking it is a game changer for flavour, texture & ‘meatiness’
I personally dont like the texture of it after it is frozen but everyone else seems to love it.
Thank you, Joey!!
I found this video very helpful! Thanks so much for all you do! These are such great ideas!
Thanks Kathy. I want to keep sharing my meal ideas with everyone so they can see that everyone can do this.
Excellent meal plan demo. Thanks
Love the meal prep ideas great job
Tofu opener 😂 love it

I just made it. Not exact but, close. So very good!

What bread do you use for your sandwiches? Looks good! Is it high protein too? @plantbaseddads
What kind of bread do you use? Also, as a change, mix soy and maple syrup and simmer tofu in it. Love.

I hate chopping vegetables and love the idea of prepping a week's worth at once...but my lettuce always goes brown in storage. How do you avoid this?
water and ice in the bowl will help it last for about 3-4 days
How did you find a good weight trainer? I haven’t had any luck finding someone good. I’d love to find a vegan trainer.
Mine isn't vegan but he is right between my work and home so it was just luck

Joey and Tim, where can I get those towels you use for the tofu?
Like Bunny said below, we go them at Wal-mart years ago.

What is the brand of bread?
Primal Bakery Protein Bread
Hey guys! I am always wondering what cookbooks are on your counter, and which you like most. Care to share? 😊
We need to do a cookbook episode for sure.
@@PlantBasedDads that would be fun!
Do you have a cook book?❤
How many grams in each serving of the bolognese sauce?
I weight it out and it varies a little each time. So 1/6th of the recipe this time came to about 328g.
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
