I'm watching this again. @2:34 This time I notice you've finally changed how you work a glidebait. You used to jerk the rod side to side when you started muskie fishing. I tried to tell you to work it up and down and now you are. You're making progress. edited to add @17:11 As you cross the bridge from Duluth to Superior that is the St. Louis River beneath you. It has big muskies in it. Some big ones have been caught in the Duluth harbor basin around the ore docks and ships. Now you've seen Lake Superior.
How can ya tell when the fishing is tough? ...... That many experienced anglers with all sorts of baits, that many lines in the water --- and still only 1 caught and it wins!!! Good stuff man! And the ACTION really picked up these last 2 days, WOW. Honestly, I sitting here just waiting for a big blow-up on a top-water and not get jolted outta my seat ..... but hey, when it's like that -- the editing is a success (and it's YOUR channel that keeps ya on the edge). Wish more were caught but ...... then again, It's "Fishing"! Next!!! ........... Be Safe
fishing lake nipissing we sometimes get into those minni lillies casting around them 6foot deep and the fish that move and come out of them weeds will blow your mind
Man! U guys were so close on multiple fish!! We also had really late, low, lazy follows that we just didn't even see until it was too late. Even had 2 fish we only saw on side imaging they were so low. Crazy. Tough bite but it was FUN! Thanks again for coming man! Next year we'll get some revenge on those giants 💪 Keep up the great work Matt 🔥
Minnesota: Land of 10,000 lakes. Minnesota: Land of 10,000 windchills. Minnesota: Land of 10,000 big muskies but it takes 10,000 casts to catch one. Hope you all come back soon.
Hey, that’s awesome! I’d highly recommend it. It’s some of the most exciting fish to catch. When I started fishing for them 3-4 years ago it took me 70 hours on the water to catch my first ski. For your first trip try hooking up with a guide or go out with a friend that has a little bit of experience. You’ll learn a lot and might even catch one if you’re lucky. Good luck!
Hi guys, maybe you should spool your big reels with nylon, much forgiving thand braid, then you add a wire trace normally. Nylon would compensate for the stiffness of your rod + braid + wire trace and maybe make your hooksets easier.
@9:24 A Klack Bait. I've posted a link to that lure for you many times in the comments trying to get you to use one for bass back home or in Florida. Next time your buzzbait fishing for bass try one of those.
Man that's the breaks sometimes. Great video and representation of a true grind. That klack bait you were trying can do some wonders. Definitely a high-maintenance bait, but when it gets tuned in well, look out.
Hey Hot tip \ storytime: Closing on 10 years ago my freinds and I went to Panama to go fish for roosterfish and cubera snapper and showed up without any clue and mostly the wrong gear.... as you do. But the group that came before us had snapped so many lines and broken so many rods the guides were allready pissed at us even before we had tied as much as a knot. But following this we got a VERY sencere and involving course in how to not break your hot dang fishingrod.... in spanish... witch we never learned but understood perfectly anyways cus theese guys had passion damn it. And here is what I learned: Do not tuch your fishingrod anywhere where there is not cork or EVA foam while fighting fish or prefereably ever. And do not load it up in more than 90 degrees if you can prevent it. I just got reminded of this when I saw your guide going up the fishing pole instead of just pointing it upwards when the fish has stopped fighting.
This is on leach? I was up there in the summer in 2017 and had a big musk break me off while i was throwing a spinner for bass in reeds just like ur fishing. sadly my 8 pound broke instantly and he didn't show interest in my bulldog i threw when i saw him . He aired on my spinner like 10 yards from the boat. The 2nd musky ive had hit baits. The first was a 48 on Lake Minnetonka In Minnetonka MN my first and only musky.
17:59 Matt I’m actually really interested in fishing with you. I don’t own a boat yet, however if you ever find yourself near the Alma Michigan area look me up.
Matt that would absolutely be the highlight of the year for me. Regardless of if I catch anything, just the opportunity to cast a few line with you would be EPIC.
Next time! Key words in every fisherman’s vocabulary. Also something about fishing not catching. We just keep trying and love every minute of it. Glad you are home safe. What did I say? Oh yah, next time.
Come on Matt you're killing me on these hooksets! I'm sure it's just awesome to be out there and obviously you haven't gotten much Muskie time this year. Just blast em on the hooksets for me hahaha. I'm also glad to see you throwing a hellhound instead of a phantom!! There are so many awesome Glide baits on the market not called Phantoms
@@SBFishing Right! A Musky on a fat topwater frog in the reeds. Probably need 80lb braid. All I know is that, that explosion would probably make me crap my pants. I mean could you imagine a 50in Musky coming out of the water for a King Daddy?
I’ve fished the reeds a bunch of times. You literally cast right into the middle of them. That was a big thing on Leech for a long time. Personally, I really didn’t like that type of fishing. Even the most weedless spinner baits got fouled up in the reeds on every other cast. It does work though. That technique has produced some giants over the years.
Ive never caught one.. the closest I got i didn't realize it was on the line because it was swimming with it to the boat, as so as it saw the boat I felt a very slight tug and he was gone 😂 cut my line like he had a scissors
Muskies are awesome but they don't seem worth the effort 😅😅. It's hard to keep a video entertaining when you might catch one fish a day. I appreciate your efforts
Have to fish your way through pike from 12”-40” before you may get a hit maybe Frankly you don’t need the giant 8’ poles these guys are using - a nice 61/2’ heavy action pole , a good 300 series bait caster with 40 lb line , steel leader will work.
"We're gonna catch one today and one tomorrow". If I hire a guide he better come with more confidence than that, lol. Also, what muskie guide doesn't check the majors/minors?
16h of fishing and one walleye is good. My friend fished for a month and don’t have a bite. I have fished for 2weeks straight and didn’t catch a thing. That’s frustrating. Trust me USA is loaded with fish
Last week I hooked and reeled in three of them my biggest was 38 and a half inches and I had one bigger break me off all in one day. I live in Ohio and I call BS on the people that called him the fish of the thousand casts.
I fished the huge rock hump on Plantangnet in 2” this summer with my friend and pulled a 48.25”. My personal best.
Elliott Feldman nice
If you look hard enough on that hump you’ll find my lake master chip
My dad has a 44 inch tiger musky
Absolutely love that lake. Caught my first muskie there!
Good Wally lake too
This little series highlights exactly what musky fishing is. You fish a lot and catch a little (if any). Well done man!
Thanks for watching, I always try to share my musky adventures even when there aren't any fish because to those that musky fish, they get it.

uhh uh what did you just say fish hunting really you must be a bot
Little known fact that musky rods can also double as pole vaults.
Hello nice video please witch the rods first casting Shimano tranx reel Thank you
For some odd reason I thought your last video on Leech, with the walleye, was the only video from this trip. This is a pleasant surprise.
