Yes, I agree.
And also, we need to stop letting violent, crazy people have guns.
@David Orozco classic whataboutism in the wild, fascinating
Gun control laws will surely work. Because as we all know. Violent crazy people are sure to follow the laws! We outlawed murder and rape, so no one does that anymore. I sure feel comfortable not having to take any personal responsibility for my safety. It wasn't fulfilling or interesting developing skills and collecting tools to make myself safe. Who needs that when i can trust the extremely competent and consistent government agencies to serve and protect me! Surely the oligarchs that run this nation have my best interest at heart when they push for civilian disarmament and there are no examples of that ever going badly.

I'm not of Asian descent, but this tragedy makes me sick! My sympathies to all those families going through such heartache right now. I'm praying for you all.
Most of us are immigrants, my people were mistreated as well, but for some it is much easier for lowlifes to hate them because they look different.
@@Turtleproof All of us are immigrants. Even those that came across the Beringia land bridge. Of course those immigrants came over thousands of years ago, versus hundreds of years ago.
No one in this country should hate one another for the differences each group has. Unfortunately, some people believe they have the right to do so. Not sure if that is due to psychotic tendencies or due to paranoia. Either way it's not right! My sympathies to those that lost loved ones today, and any others that I may not be aware of. May God be with you all and hold you in his arms as you mourn.
Whats also sad is that so many people dont understand that these "spas" are often owned and staffed by Asians - viets, chinese, korean, cambodians, ect. I dont feel this violence was specifically directed at Asians. It was directed at women and those women working in those establishments were asian. Racism is everywhere you look if you look hard enough.

@@AStri-zg5xc that's an assumption. Reality is some of them do not.

There is a wave of hope coming. I can't promise it will end racism, I can't even promise it will fix very much. But my generation (Z) is a lot more accepting of people and cultures. Not all of us, not even 90% but slowly through generations the racists will be challenged and one day, maybe not in yours or my life, perhaps not even my children's, but one day I can promise you we will beat it.

I’m white, and I am completely befuddled by the recent rash of anti-Asian racism. I cannot understand where it comes from at all. Is it because of Covid? That seems like the only possible explanation, even though it’s completely ridiculous to blame a people for a disease that I’m sure they want just as little as everyone else. Diseases are naturally occurring, not man made. It would be like hating fish because of tsunamis. Perhaps the Chinese government could’ve done more to contain the spread of Covid, but that’s on the government, not the people, and even so, that’s no reason to hate everyone from that continent. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
@@GusCraft460 it's because of social media and network television. Owned by racist tyrants pushing their own agenda onto the masses. Rupert Murdoch is single handily making the world a worse place.

Beautiful words
Problem is that some people think life is a zero-sum game where for them to succeed, others must fail. They put others beneath them because they feel it makes them the bigger person.
So true. Everything has to be political with their back against the wall, taking offense against any perceived slight.
It's like they never heard of John Nash's Game Theory or something: don't go for the blonde!

First thanks Stephen for bringing awareness of the issue of anti-Asian hatred on your show.
Second I would like to address the cause of conflicts and even war and a practical way to stop them all.
It much has to do with the food we eat these days. We should really ban meat on our diets. Torturing and
killing animals for food is a way to bring about karmic creditors to the human race. We even have a term
for it in Chinese 冤亲债主 , which means lingering vengeful spirits that are always waiting for opportunities to strike back at their meat eaters. That 's why meat eaters have mysterious diseases or illnesses, not behaving normal like hate crime murderers, not doing well in their life and other mishaps. Not only is killing animals the cause of war and conflicts, it is also the cause of earthquakes, tsunami, droughts, and other disasters. ruclips.net/video/HnLg00_erZ0/видео.html
Eating meat is not nutritious or healthy for all of us. These are lies.
ruclips.net/video/R9hPIMqb-cI/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/Ra0_m6PhwE0/видео.html
So please make a change of our eating habits and exclude meat from our diets. There should really be a global ban on meat. With that said, meat businesses should look into vegan-related businesses, they are very lucrative and bring no bad karma to the world as a whole.
For those who have been meat eaters, try listening to and even chanting some Buddhist sutras like the Compassion Sutra. Sutras can help you eliminate our past bad karma.

@@matthewmacdonaldchannel1 No, just someone who is tired of this one-way narrative.
@@BitsofRealPanther I spent several hours today reading up on it. The primary reason for the targeting was because they were women who represented a sexual "temptation" to him, and he was "unable to control" his pathetic-ass self's urges. However, the reason for the massage parlors being where he went to get his satisfaction absolutely has to do with them being Asian, due to the long-standing objectification and hyper-sexualization of Asian women in the minds of many American men, PLUS their frequently immigrant status that gives them few options to support themselves and their families. Women of ALL races are still subjugated and objectified. However, the situation for Asian women in terms of this sort of illicit prostitution is clearly worse. My point is that BOTH aspects are clearly relevant. The guy might not have done it out of racism - it WAS about sex for him, and is thus clearly a misogynistic act. However, the position those poor women were in has a LOT to do with their race and nation of descent. So it was a racial hate crime as well. How about all of us who are disgusted by this excuse-for-a-human's act stand together in solidarity against it instead of fighting, when clearly there were both race and gender-related reasons for it? His next destination for a shooting before he got caught was a porn studio in Florida, btw. Lastly, those 2 who were killed who were not Asian, or the 1 male who was killed, they were simply bystanders in the wrong place at the time of the shootings. Simple as that. We need to step back, take a deep breathe, and realize it's CULTURE, not RACE, that makes us different. Race has nothing to do with who we are, it's only an indication if a culture coincides with race. Which isn't always the case.
So if we stopped seeing race (i.e. stereotypes), besides the obvious physical different, and instead were taught to figure out what someone's culture was, we would naturally end up NOT treating people different at first viewing. We would get to know them first, a huge step up. Because we need to stop assuming everyone with this or that skin color is the same (this applies to the ridiculous 'white privilege ' stuff as well, that has to go as well or racism will never die) and instead realize we are all individuals shaped by our families and the society around us.
"Maybe one day, it'll be America". That's one of the best last lines of a monologue I have heard of anything ever.
That's gonna require a river of blood which the white people in charge aren't willing to shed.
I'm not talking imprisoning the radical right wholesale. That won't work.
I'm talking another civil war. They're gonna have to be dead.
But white Americans aren't willimg to suspend the bill of rights to make their country better for non-whites.

@@spir5102 so POC can't love? They don't have to love? Or is it, they shouldnt love? What are you saying?
@@Cortesevasive you said that we should stop the endless discussion about race. I guessed you are white because people of color know that discrimination is not over, it's alive and well, and if we stop discussing it some people will think it doesn't exist. We have to get it out in the open and have an honest discussion so we can address discrimination, how it grows, what it is, and how to combat it.
@@davidp7833 I never said that. Where did you get that?
Trust Stephen to take a funny commentary about St Patrick’s Day/Irish-Americans and smoothly redirect it towards another immigrant group that faces racism today. As a daughter of immigrants, thank you. I, like many others, am tired of hearing about racism in the news, but even more so tired of experiencing it and seeing my loved ones experience it. My heart breaks anytime I learn about another hate crime. We are all freaking humans. Why do certain of us have to suffer because of our race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexuality, etc? I’m tired but I will still use my voice and talents to uplift all of us that are senselessly discriminated against and treated as less than human.
What is ‘funny commentary’ for you can be seen as rude commentary towards Irish people. The stereotypes that we are all fighters who drink all day is not okay. Its not a smooth transition: its blatant hypocrisy.

Imagine being able to look into Putin's eyes without fear and then telling him he doesn't have a soul. Respect!
Joe Biden has lived through the worst that can happen to a man. He has no fear because there is *nothing* *left* to fear.

Yes! Incidentally the Russian word for soul is Dusha.
Considering that Putin has spent his entire career trying to project a "hard man who will crush his enemies mercilessly" image, I imagine he took it as a compliment...

This was a very good monologue. The beginning was incredibly touching and the rest of it was top notch comedy. Also Biden went and stared into the dead eyes of a soulless murderous modern tzar and called that shit out. Like a badass.
