- The stock Sur Ron comes with a 60V battery and around 5kW of power. That's already plenty to play with, but still limits the bike's abilities in some situations.
Upgrading the controller and the battery with a 72V, allows you to triple the power up to a staggering 25kW (if that makes any sense).
As everyone wants to get more out of their bikes, this is one of the most popular upgrades. No doubt that after that, the bike is more powerful and thus accelerates faster, but how does it translate in real life riding?

Do you remember what size sprocket the stock bike is running in this video? Seems like the front end comes up a lot easier than mine (i'm still on 48t)

La batterie c'est homemade avec des cellules Samsung. Le contrôleur c'est un Nucular.
I want one of those bikes, but i have a lot of questions about maintenance of this bike after six months for example, obviously i want one to have a lot of fun, but i dont know if i need to spend a lot of money in every service.
You can largely maintain it yourself. Even after 3000km of off-road riding, ours are largely fine. I had to replace some bearings, change the chain and the belt. Some basic brake maintenance but that’s it.

Great question! Cyprien now runs the same controller (Nucular) with stock (bypassed BMS) battery. This allows him 8kW which is a great improvement already.
For reference, that was my setup in this video (although I was using a BAC controller)

Je vais bientôt m'en procurer une, mais je me demande vraiment si la puissance nominale est suffisante pour se bien se marrer. Je roule en cross et aimerai bien ne pas être trop limité par le Sur Ron. Profiter de la garantie es tun plus aussi au début avant de penser à changer la batterie
Clairement, si tu as l'habitude de machines de cross puissantes (tu roules en quoi ?), tu voudras vite le rendre un peu plus pêchue.
Concernant la garantie, si ton concessionnaire est honnête, tu perds juste la garantie moteur en ajoutant de la puissance (et à moins que tu le crames, un moteur électrique tu peux pas vraiment avoir de problèmes dessus, au pire du pire ça ne coute "que" 400€).

Les prix sont assez variables. Environ 800€ pour le contrôleur et dans les 2000 pour une batterie.

Concernant la batterie elle tient combien de kilomètres la 72V en off road moins hard que dans ta vidéo ?
En général, moins c'est hard, plus on roule vite, plus ça consomme. Ça dépend aussi du poids du pilote et du dénivelé. Bien sur, 72V ne donne aucune info en terme de capacité, et en 60 ou 72V, c'est bien les Wh qui font l'autonomie.
Par exemple, hier, sur un parcours rapide 28km/h de moyenne, avec 1200d+ et des roues en 21/18 (ça consomme plus), j'ai fait 30km.

Depends on where you live. You have resellers. Most popular controllers at the moment are Nucular, Sintech and ASI BAC. Then it’s software programming.
how fast does the stock 60v suron go?
Depends on the gearing but stock everything it’s 70/75kmh

Je suis en train de considérer l'achat d'un Sur-Ron X ou d'une Storm Bee mais comme il faut faire pas mal de modifs sur le X, je me demande si il vaudrait pas mieux directement acheter la Storm Bee ? Sachant que pour moi l'écart de prix entre les deux modèles neufs sera d'environ 3400€

Oui malheureusement, si tu veux faire de la Light un engin un peu violent, il faut quelques modifs. Alors que la Storm arrache un peu plus d'origine (y'a aussi la BHR 🇫🇷 qui semble sympa !).
Au delà de la puissance c'est quand même des machines ultra différentes, Storm & BHR t'es plus haut, plus suspendu, mais beaucoup moins maniable (2x le poids de la Light).
Pour moi c'est surtout ça la grosse diff. En équivalent de la Light avec un peu plus de Watts d'origine, il y a la Drill One (et faut voir ce que LMX peut faire en les appelant direct).
@@MTO_Brothers Exact je suis un peu divisé entre avoir une moto légère et avoir quelque chose qui pourra être quand même un peu plus routier avec une meilleure autonomie.
J'ai fait un calcul avec des accessoires et en 72v et le prix de la Light bee x revient au même prix que la Storm haha
La Drill One je trouve ça assez cher pour ce que c'est et la BHR je connaissais pas ça a l'air cool mais pas avant 2022..
@@ProMotard Oui la BHR semble assez intéressante. Que de choix difficiles ! Clairement, une fois bien montée, la Light n'est pas spécialement moins cher que la Storm.

Franchement, tout cela donne envie, rien qu'à la sonorité du moteur on imagine la bien meilleure gestion de la puissance par le contrôleur.

Oui la gestion électrique est clairement plus optimisée. Wouhhh, pour un custom build je ne saurais pas te dire !

Is the stock one with 72km/h top speed road legal in France?
The road legal comes electronically limited to 45km/h. But it's only one wire to cut and you get the max speed on sports mode.

Hello! Oui tu gagneras un peu en vmax et en couple. Pour nettement améliorer ça sans changer de batterie, tu peux changer le BMS de ta batterie origine pour permettre de faire passer plus de courant.

The voltage doesn't change much the range. It's about the battery's capacity above all. You get a 60V60Ah and there you go!

c'est quoi les referrences batteries et controleurs ? niveau autonomie c'est mieux, pareil ou moins bon ?
Le contrôleur est un Nucular 24F, la batterie est une 20S16P (72V30Ah = 2140Wh) avec des cellules Samsung 30Q. Meilleur autonomie que la moto d'origine.

Thanks man! Regarding the Bac, there are some resellers depending on where you live.
As for the batteries, we're almost done testing and will be selling battle tested packs shortly, so stay tuned if that's something that could interest you.
Is the upgraded controller bike using the bigger battery here? Or just a controller upgrade?
The bike with controller uses a 72V battery but it’s not bigger in terms of Wh.
@@MTO_Brothers I think I'll go with the breaks and suspension first. Then, controller, battery and wheels. I've already done all those smaller upgrades. Today I got rid of the tilt sensor:) Cheers!

C’est quoi la différence de vitesse avec les deux ?
Là y'en a une de préparée et l'autre en puissance d'origine. Donc une va à plus de 100 tandis que l'autre monte à 75kmh. Mais le plus impressionnant c'est le couple et l'accélération.

Ah tout dépend ce que tu veux upgrade : faut compter 4000 d’upgrade grosso modo.
Niveau batterie tu fais autant de km que lui?
Plus même. La batterie a un peu plus de Wh donc je gagne en autonomie par rapport à l'origine.

Gotta be patient. It can take up to months to receive it. Or you can pay for an extra and find a reseller that has it in stock.

@@quent527 C'est ultra différent. Tu changes pas juste d'énergie mais le pilotage est aussi vraiment différent, plus fluide mais aussi moins de garde au sol, suspensions et pneus plus light.
Moi qui suis ni grand ni bien lourd, je me sens plus à l'aise sur une Light de 50kg qu'une 250cc de 100kg.
Cyprien qui roulait en 250cc s'amuse finalement plus avec la Light et notre pote Lucas avec qui on roule beaucoup lui a une 300cc et une Light en utilisation occasionnelle (jumps, petits tours rapide après le boulot…).

It’s always sad to learn how acts of pure stupidness have such dramatic consequences. I’ve never heard of such a thing in the areas we usually ride but I have heard it happens sometimes. And I’ve witnessed logs and branches in the middle of the path... but that’s less dangerous.

Hopefully this is very silent compared to a real bike and that can impact idiots not to put that stuff, I heard stories too
Surron are too short for steep hill climbs
well nobody's advertising sur ron's for hill climb events, but its nice to test if it can climb a decent incline. You can get swingarm extenders and larger tires for the ron if you want.
Everything is a compromise, the Surron was designed to be nimble, that means a short wheelbase and that's obviously at the expense of high speed stability and steep climbs ability.
As @kwent86 said, you can modify it for better climbing abilities, the same way dirt bikes have extended swing arm for hill climb contests. That's of course detrimental to manoeuvrability and singletrack riding power 😝
