This brought back some fond memories for me. I had the same motorbike as a kid in the 70's and the machine gun also broke at the same point due to me pushing it down the stairs lol. I also made my own parachuter using old scarves which would not always work as I threw them out of my parents bedroom window lol. He once got stuck on the gutter for a day or two lol. Thanks for sharing.
Historical accuracy was not really a concern for Cherilea, in particular those stickers and the machine gun. Not mentioning the colour of the vehicle which should be either dark grey or sand yellow, eventually with camouflage added.
The colored electrical tape is a Godsend to collectors and customizers; it can be used to replace or repair broken straps, belts, holsters and nearly any other bit of kit made of vinyl or rubber. I recently lucked into a couple of vintage Russian and German belt buckles, and by folding the appropriately colored tape over on itself in thirds, I replaced the belts and with a bit of polish and careful painting, they now look good as new.
Late answer but this is supposed to be a Zündapp KS750 which was introduced in 1940. The Indiana Jones stories precede that year. Though Zündapp made motorcycles before so it could be depicted as one of its predecessors and anyway as I mentioned elsewhere Action Man never was much concerned with historical accuracy when it came to vehicles.
Hi - enjoyed the video and have downloaded and used your decals. Thanks for that. Has anyone any ideas for replacing the flag pole? mines missing. They rarely come up on eBay. Thanks Andy
fantastic Mate it turned out awesome. do you have more AM vehicles that your going to be working on ? never had any as a kid but I recall a friend having the littlebird style chopper.
At big model shops you can get good plastic for fixing that kind of stuff it comes in sheets and tubes square and round and you can get angle pieces sort of like angle iron
Most of those 'Cherilea' vehicles (my younger brother had a Jeep and a Kettenkraftrad) were made of Polythene and Polypropylene, both of which are resistant to most chemicals, although Polypropylene will weaken and go brittle if overly exposed to sunlight. The 'Kettenkrad' half-track motorcycle was a most impressive toy, and worth seeking out.
I have one these owned from new but I'm having trouble remembering the ammo for the gun. It may have never had any. Can anyone please enlighten me? Thanks. 😊
Hi. Just got one of these in a job lot so only owes me a few quid but no engine, exhaust, suspension and handle bars so a bit more difficult restoration than yours!
Nice piece! Wait... aren't those insignias for the Afrika Korps? That's a regular German Stormtrooper and bike isn't it? Shouldn't he be in Afrika Korps colours?
+TheNightBadger I don't know much about the insignias. I just restored it to how it would have been originally. And I only have this German Stormtrooper outfit, so he got to ride it :)
It's certainly BASED on the Afrika Korps insignia - the genuine insignia had a swastika over the trunk of the palm tree. Palitoy made their own genuine Action Man Motorcycle and Sidecar, using the same motorcycle as the Police Motorbike, minus the fairing. It was available in two versions - in military green, with the sidecar on the left (as would be typical for driving on the left in the UK), with "Action Man Transport Command" stickers; and as a German Motorcycle and Sidecar, in Afrika Korps colours and with the correct insignia and the sidecar on the right (as would be correct for countries where they drive on the right, like Germany). In some respects, the Cherilea Motorcycle and sidecar as shown in Toy Polo's video is more accurate than the genuine Palitoy version, as WWII German Motorcycle and sidecar combos did typically carry a spare wheel on the back of the sidecar. Sometimes, they would also have extra ammo boxes fitted to the rear of the sidecar The Cherilea toys were a compatible line of vehicles that cashed in on the popularity of Action Man. They were usually more primitive blow-moulded toys, as is the case with their motorbike and sidecar. If you compare the Palitoy Motorbikes with the Cherilea one, the Palitoy version is much more detailed and accurate to a "real" motorbike, but because of that, it's a lot more fragile. Whereas the Cherila toys were the cheap and cheerful knock-offs that could be used with Action Man or the numerous 12" figures that existed to cash in in Action Man's success (and there were other companies that produced generic uniforms and accessories which were also compatible), they are often in better condition years down the line than some of the more delicate Action Man vehicles and accessories. The Cherilea Motorcycle and sidecar was also available in Afrika Korps colours, along with Half Tracks, Tanks, etc etc. Palitoy also had various other Afrika Korps colour vehicles, including a German Staff Car. Often, these would also be blow-moulded, as it was much cheaper than injection moulding, produced reasonable good results, and allowed Action Man to have plenty of variety in his vehicle pool. You can see a genuine Action Man Afrika Korps motorcycle and sidecar here: www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=imgres&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwixieOf9LfbAhXE2aQKHX2aAnwQjxx6BAgBEAI&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQzP6gCkygyA&psig=AOvVaw05nojQbFMCg-u-KBBNXAFa&ust=1528129529391052
Toy Polloi yeah I’m still testing on these cheap things so I don’t mess up on something worth something, it’s been months of practice and I still am not good enough to use it on old stuff
Toy Polloi also how do you fix broken boots ( back broke on the seam ) my 1964 gi joe Australian jungle fighter I got for $6 all it was missing was the award upon further inspection it has both boots broken on seams in the back and a broken off trigger finger
they look like star washers, another great video. you won't be able to repair the AM jeep I had. I sat on it trying yo drive it and it snapoed in two :(
Yeah, I know, it's just so deeply rooted in my mind, I have ruined a few pieces my self, building a LEGO-casing for a USB thumb-drive many years ago. =) When I grew up you cherished every single brick since they were so expensive and hard to get replacement, now with internet and Bricklink it's another story, parts are cheap and easily accessible.
2 days ago called into a vintage toy store. Thought I pick one up came back with 2. A 1973 Field Commander and field radio boxed. He came with pilot jacket. Paperwork and couple booklets He's missing pistol. Reduced. À 1992 a G.I Joe. Duke US Army soldier unboxed. Came with large gun and stand. Missing backpack. Gun and holster and knife and holder. So had a great whopping save. Action man reduced from £195 to £155 and the G.i Joe priced £20 she let me have for £10. So picked up an Army soldier uniform. Now in cabinet on show including the action man box Even the woman said You caught the bug. Í definitely be calling in there again. Action man figures reduced to £125 unboxed. They've got the action man Skier I'm now thinking of purchasing. They've got the Mountie officer uniform bagged. I'm seriously thinking about ringing the shop up so they can put them aside me to pickup next month
Simple or not, absolutely incredible tips and tricks.... Much appreciated!!!

haha I use to steal my fathers handkerchiefs for parachutes
Another worthy save, well done.So nice to see people donating stuff like this too.
+grimmyx22 Thanks. It was a very generous box of stuff.
I had this as a kid... thank's for the nostalgia rush!
Came over recommended by the car restorer guy. Nice channel
That was amazing what you did to the tank. Great job.
And with this stuff,we might inspire kids to play with toys,
Lovely job. The brown clip-on seats are ultra-rare, they are nearly always missing. You were very lucky to have one included in the donation.
No there not the brown foot pegs are the very rare parts that's always missing
I owned one of these. Loved it. Had great times and it went out on many adventures especially in mums back garden. Thanks for uploading it. 👍🏻🇬🇧😀
I think it is made to represent a Zundapp 750.The machine gun looks like a Browning .30 caliber.
+philo426 Thanks for the info. Cheers

Excellent work!! It'll look good on display. That bumper cleaner stuff is amazing. I'll have to look out for some soon!

Great job! Awesome piece!
I really
Loved this toy
Good job. This figure is very reality. 👏👏👏

That bike looks awsome 😄😄😄
Suppose you could stick some Indiana Jones figures on it like in The Last Crusade?
Good question.
@@flitsertheoyeah but what about that machine gun😮
Is it a replica of any real WW2 weapon or an Action Man creation 🤔
That looks great
Toy-Polloi: Question is Action Man, your favorite toy? just wondering. :)
+Ron Kelley I'm certainly enjoying getting back into collecting them. But there are other toy lines I like more :)
Just downloaded the custom stickers pdf (Awesome) should I need them in the future... Will there be one similar for the German helmet?
They are also on toypolloi.com Check out my restoration video ruclips.net/video/CPhsC7LAlV4/видео.html
Great job. Looks very nice.
Hi - enjoyed the video and have downloaded and used your decals. Thanks for that. Has anyone any ideas for replacing the flag pole? mines missing. They rarely come up on eBay. Thanks Andy
A simple piece of wire would do the job.
Hi there excellent video I’m currently restoring one can you tell me how to remove the handle bars and replace starlocks to front wheel thanks
I've not tried. But the starlocks just pop off with a pair of pliers.
impressive as usual
Love your videos!
fantastic Mate it turned out awesome. do you have more AM vehicles that your going to be working on ? never had any as a kid but I recall a friend having the littlebird style chopper.
+tycondrius fitz I don't. I just don't have the space for anymore big toys. A shame as they are great.
another good job
You should try Q-Bond on the plastic. Permanent fix.
+Shannon Helton thanks, I'll take a look at it.
wow amazing work. looks fantastic. lego pieces who knew lol.
That was awesome man!
At big model shops you can get good plastic for fixing that kind of stuff it comes in sheets and tubes square and round and you can get angle pieces sort of like angle iron
..........wow amazing........
Hi just picked up one today do you now where i can get the Bike Handlebar from thank you for your time and help
I'd ask on the action man Facebook groups. You'll find AM collectors keep all sorts of bits. Someone may just have this part.
@@toypolloi thank you for all your help all so do you fix action man if some pays you to fix them ?
I played with these toys as a child but I get so much pleasure from seeing them restored now I am older...

You can get those axle caps at Home Depot or Lowe's.
philo426 ha ha, not in the uk ;)
Got a question are there no shops close to you? You get all your every day stuff on ebay. Is it easier?
+mike mcgough Not really. I live in the countryside. So it's easier and there is more choice on line.
Could you have used plastic weld on the seat cover instead of glue?
No, wrong type of plastic.
You can tell by the shaft drive and the horizontal cylinders.
You could try a heat gun to re-flow the plastic. It works on car interiors.
+Shannon Helton I wouldn't like to risk it on this toy. Some of the plastic can be very brittle. But if I have a junk one in, I'll give it a try.
beautiful!!
Hello, how do you attach the action man legs back,I'm struggling
I have videos on re stringing action man. Check those out. Cheers
@@toypolloi ,are they on you tube
Of course 😊
I had this. Brings back the memories. I àlso, had the german tank. It was a sand colour.
I have one these owned from new but I'm having trouble remembering the ammo for the gun. It may have never had any. Can anyone please enlighten me? Thanks. 😊
Should be an MG 34 . That looks like a Browning
cooles video
THE SEAT LOOKED LIKE A TOUGH JOB..COULD YOU HAVE LIGHTLY SPRAY PAINT?
Do you send the donated vehicle back or add it to your collection?
+Don Simms It depends on the doner. Some are given to me, some are to restore and auction for charity. I've made over £200 for charity so far.
Great video, did you ever have the yellow helicopter for action man? It came out in 1967 I think....take care
+Arthur DeArcos jr I didn't. I had the plane that turned it off a few other vehicles. Never had any helicopters.
I never have any attachments to the original stickers, so I always remove them. A good quality set of reproductions can often look better.
Can you try to do a mego restoration that would be really neat. Preferably worlds greatest superheroes :)
I don't have many megos. Only Kirk, Spock and some Space 1999 figures. What's the most common issues with them you want to see fixed?
Toy Polloi many times the limbs are broken or ripped off.

I had one of these and rider 😃
19:17 yet again a thing you need a soldiering iron for, it can melt the plastic there and make it look like it was never broken
I always think it's a horrible way of fixing things. So many things can go wrong with it.
Toy Polloi yeah I’m still testing on these cheap things so I don’t mess up on something worth something, it’s been months of practice and I still am not good enough to use it on old stuff
Toy Polloi you can use model filler to fill the gaps before you glue it
That is why I don't suggest anyone ever use it as a method. Cheers
Toy Polloi also how do you fix broken boots ( back broke on the seam ) my 1964 gi joe Australian jungle fighter I got for $6 all it was missing was the award upon further inspection it has both boots broken on seams in the back and a broken off trigger finger
STARLOCK. Axle Caps on eBay
I buy mine from an old hardware shop 45p to 60p each for Palitoy & Cherilea Verhicles
Quality
Star caps are very inexpensive
mine is missing the foot peg. And the seat cover. I just used matte black to paint the seat
they look like star washers, another great video. you won't be able to repair the AM jeep I had. I sat on it trying yo drive it and it snapoed in two :(
+crawford niven Sounds painful!
I think I was 4 or 5 at the time
Excellent Video!!!!! I don't really care for all of the Bloomberg Political Ads THAT KEEP POPPING UP!!!!!
The adverts are nothing to do with me. They are chosen by Google based on your preferences. Cheers
I have stickers for a vintage toy but they're unopened and I want remakes of them. I don't want to open them XD
+The Restoration of Dr Who You'll need to scan them so that you can reproduce them.
Toy Polloi They're in a little bag that's still taped shut. You can't see them all.
+The Restoration of Dr Who if you don't want to open them, you will have to find another set to scan.
