Ahhhhh, the ultimate 80's toy! I love these projects where you have lots of scrap parts from several toys and turn them into a single working one Dave. I've still got my childhood AT-AT (the only one of my original Star Wars toys I never sold back in the day) and he's still in great condition (other than some slightly yellowed chin guns) with all his parts and box.
Love this repair with one comment I have to make though: Once again I have to point out that you should really get a small tube of lithium grease for plastic and grease up all the gearing in the toy. First it will slow down the wear of the gear and secondly the whole setup will be much quieter. Especially on MOTU vehicles. Lithium grease is used a lot in the railroading hobby. Remember that your model drill had a pack of grease/oil as part of the kit :)
The INT-4 Interceptor mini rig is photographed being held in the AT-AT on the box art. You could look to replicate that to hold the vehicle inside (it does fit!)
with that back panel missing you have an opportunity to have it carrying speeder bikes in a launch bay like they are supposed to in the lore. also gives you a chance to make some white Hoth themed speeder bikes. Either that or the obvious answer is a stormtrooper hot tub.
You could consider chopping off most of the back section and recreating the all terrain ion cannon ATIC from the 1986 The Epic Continues line that Kenner never produced. Maybe if you have a spare cannon from a death star playset you could just mount it on the back.
Love this video, you are clearly very knowledgeable about this subject and it shows. This is a great idea for a series and I’m looking forward to part 2. I loved the ecto build as well which was similar in theme
Hi Dave, I'm thinking maybe a flap at the back so as you can put a speeder bike in and maybe make a gun rack for weapons to go on? I like the one you did with also illuminating it inside 👍😊
Great video, and I'm looking forward to part 2! I was thinking you might make a shallow console computer table work station inside this AT-AT. Seems like something you could easily make from styrene, and a nice sticker created would look great for the view screen.
Excellent work! You are making me miss my AT-AT I found in the US in 1999 which went missing when I sent it back home :( Never did find her 😢 Fun fact: the back piece that you are missing was used for the detail peice on the front of the Airwolf pilots helmet where the radio is on the front!
great work as always Dave , for the back section maybe some sort of weapons rack and computer displays would look good or maybe figure seating or clips for storage.
Inside the main body you could make compartments for stormtroopers/snow troopers to strap in. Because i think its purpose was to have that functionality built in.
Nice job so far! Since you're looking for suggestions, some SW reference materials indicate that the AT-ATs hold speeder bikes inside, along with additional troops. Maybe build a rack to hold one or two speeder bikes? Edit: I just spotted the other comment with the same suggestion. Therefore, I second this idea.
thats a lot of memories so can get parts if want have that back drop and include the mini rig shuttle int4 i used to as kid also deploy rope needed to get out
How about putting some extra lights in the back and maybe a place for more figures to fit in. A red light color panel on the end of the wall and a longer light panel on the inside of the roof. There are some images on the inside of an AT AT that can be seen taken from the game Jedi Fallen Order, that is something to look at for directions and something to be inspired from. Looking forward to whatever you decide to do with this, it will be exiting and fun to see.
I remember your last at-at, didnt you make a custom sticker for the back wall so when you opened the side door there were computers etc. If you have enough plasticard left in gray you could make a computer console like your sticker but 3 dimensional. I also like the idea of making the rear plate into a door for a speeder bike and biker to come out. Great job so far. I remember you getting those gromits but i cant remember what they were for. A transformer perhaps?
Very nice work, i like the gunrepairs, need to fix mine aswell, still sorcing parts. Wih regards to the back: How about a speederbike or minirig-vehicle storage or a hidden canon post (death star canon) with slidable fixture, besides fixing the backpiece (which can open and close). If you are customising offcourse? You could also add some kind of rigging or jumpropes for descending stormtroopers?😁💯
You could consider chopping off most of the back section and recreating the all terrain ion cannon ATIC from the 1986 The Epic Continues line that Kenner never produced. Maybe if you have a spare cannon from a death star playset you could just mount it on the back.
Great stuff. Those old D size batteries were ridiculous for such a small motor and light. Going down to AA, maybe there would be room to customise a belly hatch where Luke cut it open and threw the grenade in?
Amazing to think that a group of ladies on an assembly line in Coalville were putting these together with their eyes closed, while slagging off their husbands and boyfriends, some 40 odd years ago!
This is a fun project! Love seeing parts becoming whole again! I have an aggressive custom idea. The modern AT-AT (TVC) has a speeder bike in the back. I wonder if that is something that could be fun?
I wonder if an Isp-6 would fit in the back. I can imagine the tailgate opening and one of them coming out and the wings folding down like the full size imperial shuttle. A hoth themed Isp-6 could be cool. Unrelated point, I seem to remember that you had to buy a two pack of bulbs for the at-at last time. Im guessing you used the second or gave it so someone who needed one for theirs. Still, the led works well.
If I remember the one I had correctly, the light-piping on those chin guns is kinda poor even with the original ones. As for the legs...you could always try building it as the aquatic model, which didn't have them? :-)
Very nice! Do you know how many versions of the AT-AT were made? Mine has removable gun shields, but that doesn't look like the case here? For the interior, what about magnet fastners for the door? The original clip is good enough, but imagine how satisfying it would be if it snapped shut.
Excellent restoration so far! Perhaps leave it at this stage, turn the inside into a mini-Hoth diorama with the small metal Kenner figures and Hoth pieces from the original toy line, so the AT-AT becomes a frame/stage for a smaller Hoth display.
This evoked fond childhood memories of unboxing an AT-AT on Christmas Day 1982!
Me to my dad threw mine away when I was a teenager. So I bought myself one in my 40s .
Awesome. I love the yellowed belly that's going to get back its dignity, no peroxide involved, great example of wabi sabi.

That's a nice rebuild. I look forward to part 2. We still have my Son's original Star Wars toys in the attic.
Wow, this thing is huge!
So far so good, I'm looking forward to part 2!
Well done, Dave!

I like the idea of a white speeder bike 👍
Storm Trooper Party Yeeeaaahhhh
@@severindrax I wonder what spray paint you could use so as it wouldn't peel off the plastic/metal?

Thanks 👍
I have a project AT-AT bought years ago. This is inspiring me to work on it over Christmas
That is awesome!
wow I really am looking forward to the next episode!! very interesting!
Nice videos.
I always wanted to build Kenner’s All Terrain Ion Cannon concept with a SCAP-AT.
I don't have an OG AT-AT and I would want to make this into the 1986 Lost Kenner line one too.
Great video, looking forward to the next installment.
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video, Toy Polloi! Thank you for giving your audience here in the States something amazing to watch for Thanksgiving day!👍
Happy holidays!
I've had that light cover for years, not knowing what it was or what it goes to. Now I know, so thank you sir.
Looking at that solitary AT-AT Stormtrooper standing in the wreckage of his AT-AT looks like the Rebels got the better of him.
“Oh, Sith - it was me who signed this vehicle out this morning!”
Hi Dave, I'm thinking maybe a flap at the back so as you can put a speeder bike in and maybe make a gun rack for weapons to go on? I like the one you did with also illuminating it inside 👍😊
Heck yeah! Looking forward to part 2🤙
Excellent restoration Dave, can’t wait for part 2.. possibly part 3 too! 😅 cheers 🍻
Thanks 👍
Oh yeah! Awesome work! I definitely want one……those fixes are more durable than the original antique plastic!
Great job. Thanks Dave.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this video as i will be able to try to get my ATAT working again.
You are welcome

Hey Dave
Really enjoying the video series so far and your editing between scenes. Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP and take care 😊
Excellent work! You are making me miss my AT-AT I found in the US in 1999 which went missing when I sent it back home :( Never did find her 😢
Fun fact: the back piece that you are missing was used for the detail peice on the front of the Airwolf pilots helmet where the radio is on the front!
Hopefully you will find it one day. And that is a cool fact! Thanks.
I never knew that. Thanks for sharing it.
@@BrynSmith76 If you find my AT-AT, let me know 😉
I love your solutions for the missing parts!
great work as always Dave , for the back section maybe some sort of weapons rack and computer displays would look good or maybe figure seating or clips for storage.
I always loved the way the head could be moved. That 3D printing is really well match colourwize 👍👍
It's a great toy. These prints are the best I've seen. Very close indeed.
It makes you realise how much time and thought went into designing these toys.
This one ought to be good!
Inside the main body you could make compartments for stormtroopers/snow troopers to strap in. Because i think its purpose was to have that functionality built in.
Cool. I took mine apart years ago and need to reassemble it... Nice timing I always say ; )
Right on!
Fantastic work!
As always Dave fantastic mate can’t wait for part two

Love your Space:1999 style intro!!! Cheers!!!!
Thanks!
Love it Dave! I'm getting new fixing ideas from you all the time!
Glad to hear it!

Love the thundercat homage but scene.

Nice dave. I got a cheep atat an turned in into kenner prototype at ic
Another great video
Thanks!
I always loved on the Power of the Force re-issue of the AT-AT the computer monitor it had inside. You could try making a recreation of it.
Great stuff. Those old D size batteries were ridiculous for such a small motor and light. Going down to AA, maybe there would be room to customise a belly hatch where Luke cut it open and threw the grenade in?

Oh, I will check that out. Could work well.
Love that intro music
Thanks 👍
Maybe you could make some racks for it to carry a couple of speeder bikes?
I think it was for the extendar arm fix you got the black rubber rings

I think there are shots of mini rigs placed inside that were used for promotional shots.
I would love to see interior lighting.
Check out my older videos on making a custom inner panel for the At-at. That includes lights. Cheers
If I remember the one I had correctly, the light-piping on those chin guns is kinda poor even with the original ones. As for the legs...you could always try building it as the aquatic model, which didn't have them? :-)

There are quite a few. In the original mold just this version and the POTF2 I think.
The best thing to do with split nylon gears is to replace them. Superglue doesn't bond to nylon and it will eventually split again.
I want it weathered, a bunch.
I'm glad you say AT-AT the same way I do but how do you say AT-ST?
"I have 90% of an AT-AT". Wishing I had 30% of an AT-AT
Drink every time Dave says “styrene sheet” and/or “plastic weld.”
Since it's Thanksgiving Day here in the States, I'll take this opportunity to tell you how thankful I am for your videos!

Can i re cauck that sink .,...ahhh nightmares!!
Spare parts are so expensive on ebay and postage and vat to Ireland makes it not worth finishing my atat
AT, AT or A-T A-T? How do you pronounce it?
Ion canon in back 💪🚬🤠🇺🇸🇬🇧
How about a curved piece of cardboard for the interior with images of snow troopers ready to disembark to Hoth, or regular storm troopers for Endor?
Hi, you could add a ladder or rope pulley system so troopers can get in and out of the vehicle
You could make/convert this into a swimmer AT-AT. That way you wouldn't need the legs.
🤣 I imagine they do doggy paddle.
I think you should customize the interior to look like a comfy living room similar to a doll house or Sylvanian Families.
"A", "T", "A", "T"
AT-AT
Just sold my AT-AT, to buy heman figures.
