Happy birthday on the pi-day! What a lovely experience it is to fly long haul F on CX on ur bday! The cake incident was somehow damaging the experience but no doubt cx has a grp of professional crew who can resolve problems quickly! I was expecting to see the arrangements provided after landing, but what a pity that u didn’t film it. Anyway, love the vid!
I can say this, the food and champagne offered in Cathy First class far exceeds both Emirates and Singapore airlines. For example, Emirates only offers one type of champagne in first which is Dom Perion that is really only an entry level champagne anyway at under $200 a bottle duty free and their first class food is exactly the same as their business class except it’s served plated and not on a tray. Oh and the other difference is there is a soup option and a pasta option, that’s it!

I am also a hardcore CX fans. whenever flying out of Hong Kong, I will fly with CX, of course in economy class and a couple of business class. Flying with CX for 20+ years, you can tell the service standard drop in the last several years. I don't know how the ground service work with your cake, but It seems not acceptable, especially you are a high rank member and a first class passenger, not blaming the crew though, as they are experience and professional. hml878 I absolutely adore Cathay Pacific! I fly them whenever I can. I live in the UK so I can only fly them if I’m going to Hong Kong or hopping around Asia and using HKG as a base! The service might have dropped over the years but I still think they’re a phenomenal airline!
Your interaction with cabin staff much improved. Good manners go with good service. Interestingly on my first flight w Cathay in 2004 (Syd-HK) the guy behind me had ordered a Halal meal which wasn't loaded. He was fuming. Offered him my salad which he declined.
Shame about the cake ( did you get a refund?) The crew on Cathay are always amazing! One of my best airlines in the world! Great review as always and across 2 time zones Happy Birthday...again!

I’ve read and watched plenty of airline reviews before, and i can safely say you are the biggest whiner out there. The Boston catering crew didn’t get the cake order, should they bake up a cake on the plane? I’m sure there must hav been some form of compensation

If Cathay's service had been on the ball, they should have rushed out and got you a birthday cake as soon as they noticed the error. Not reimbursing a First Class passenger for an administrative oversight on their side is awful. The cake is very expensive and to not get any recompense is, IMHO, unforgivable. If it had been me (I wish) I probably wouldn't have flown with them again. No excuse for making their 1st class passengers feel their company's slow and painful demise.

Thanks for watching; First of all, Cathay never gave me a free flight. I booked this flight with my Alaska miles. Second of all, a birthday cake, a commodity clearly labeled on Cathay's website that I pre-ordered and paid for is something that I should expect to have especially when I ordered it for the purpose of making a special review video. It is a major oversight on Cathay's end for not delivering their promise to their elite customer in a premium cabin. In the very end, Cathay never offered to refund the fee I paid for the cake, it was only the wonderful crew who went above and beyond to cover up a mistake that should never be their responsibility.
@@ShanghaiFlyer Flying in F is a rather expensive endeavour. Everything should be perfect. With only 2 pax in F, you would expect that they would at least get something trivial as a birthday cake right. At least Cathay should reimburse you and smoothen your hardship by offering miles or a rebate on your next flight. That is what I meant. I did not mean that you got a free flight.
These airlines compete for premium passengers. As an example, watch a recent Singapore Airlines review by Eddie Khoo. He was supposed to fly the new Suites, but due to an aircraft change, they ended up on the last generation’s first class seats. They gave him and his companion something like 70,000 KrisFlyer miles to make up for it.
Sorry, but I just can’t get onboard (no pun intended) with the birthday cake debacle. You’re a grown ass man dude, what are you doing paying $50 for a cake? It sounds like they did you a favour by not loading it. Save for all the whinging about the precious little cake, an otherwise decent review.
