Good for Purito for taking corrective action to address the sunscreen issue and being transparent with the test results for their updated sunscreen. They've handled the entire "scandal" really well, proud of them as a company.
transparent my ass honestly. they didnt handle the scandal well at all, they basically lied to their western followers by saying they didnt know they messed up with the formula of their sunscreen, when they admitted to their korean audience in korean that they did, but they thought their western audience was too stupid to know that since most of us do not speak korean, so they didnt care to tell us the truth. what actually happened is after they tested their sunscreen they tweaked the final formula to make it more cosmetically elegant, knowing it could mess with the final spf. i reccomend checking odile monads video on this as it goes more in depth.
@@derekward3512 I'm confused because in Odile's video (from what I can remember) she stated that it's possible Purito did *not* know about the true SPF rating of their sunscreens because the cosmetic formulator they engaged exploited a loophole in Korea's SPF regulations. may I ask where did Purito admit that they were "lying" about their SPF to their Korean customers?

Skin1004 is pronounced Skin "Cheon Sa" because Cheon Sa means Angel but is also the number 1004 in Korean (they're pronounced the same way). Korea has a few names that are pronounced the same way that are kind of used as puns. (Sagwa means Apple but also an Apology, so sometimes people apologize by giving an apple as an act of "giving an apology")
Adding centella to my routine really helped sooth my skin as I add more actives. Thanks James. I bought the skin 1004 pure centella and now I wish I had gotten the brightening one and now it’s going to be a year before I use up my current bottle 😂

I feel like there are a lot of centella skincare products lately and I’ve been feeling a little weirded out by it. lol I live in SEA and the house that I grew up in always had centella plants in the garden. (We call them “Land Lotus Leaves” in my native tongue.) My aunt used to make a drink out of them since it has cooling/calming effects even when consumed. It was my favorite summer drink growing up. It tastes kinda grassy though but it’s so refreshing.

This Spot treatment gave me the Idea that I can use the zinc oxide based spfs that are too white for me as a spot treatment and it WORKS! I LOVE the Some by mi tea tree zinc sunscreen its my new favorite spot treatment :D!
Yaaasss I've been using Madagascar centella for a year, I LOVE IT. It's my go to when im too busy to keep up with my skincare. This one keep my skin from dying and stress break out lol
I trust the new Purito sunscreen better now. To be honest, when the whole issue blew up, it made me think how many other sunscreens out there also lack the protection they claim. I am no stranger to getting red under the sun and I always get sunburnt even when using SPF before. Needless to say there are sunscreens today that really alleviated my sensitivity and it made sense that many of the ones I used to use probably didn't have the protection they claim to have or the formulas just aren't right. Purito's issue was actually a blessing because they had a need to clear their name. Now this affordable sunscreen is in the market: equally lightweight; just as moisturizing if not more; not as fast-absorbing but probably one of the best among the hybrid filter SPFs. They definitely made up for their promise of protection which is what we obviously really want with a sunscreen. That places my confidence back on them and even stronger than other brands of SPF.

I'm so excited about their new sunscreen, I never tried the original because it was pulled while I was still hunting for a new one (thankfully though). I'm using the Bondi Sands sunscreen at the moment but it really is not a good match for my combo skin and it's driving me mad.

I’m turning 40 next month and thought I was taking care of my skin, but after watching your videos I realize I was not doing nearly enough! I started using serums and I want to add a toner, but my skin is on the drier side… what would you recommend? I read the cosrx centella water is not ideal for dry skin.
No matter what I do, I can't seem to get rid of my acne. I have hundreds of white and blackheads on my chin and forehead, a lot of inflamed acne on the sides and on my nose and on my temples.I using this strength for over 2 years). I then tried adding 'the ordinary 0.5% retinol'' to my routine which was at the time 'cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum, retinol, and moisturiser' but I couldn't seem to get my skin to adjust to it using 3-4 times a week for 12 weeks. it ended up very dry and oily. I have even tried using a facial steamer 3-4 times a week for 5-10 minutes right after cleansing my face (all this did was dry out my skin). I am currently using Dermalogica breakout clearing foaming cleanser followed by Paulas choice 2% BHA exfoliant, simple light replenishing moisturiser, and Lacura naturals Anti-Aging night cream (at night) or Lacura Naturals Anti-Aging day Cream followed by non-comedogenic sunscreen (in the morning). This routine has helped calm down the sebum production and inflammation, but has not done anything to ease the blackheads and whiteheads. I am fairly certain some of the whiteheads have been there for months. I have no idea what to do now, someone please help me
I had the exact same problem. I'm still trying to get rid of the whiteheads on my forehead. I have extremely sensitive skin and the only thing that helped was using soothing products. Cosrx- aqua soothing gel cream helped tons. And for exfoliating, I used the cosrx- aha, bha vitamin c toner. It has low concentrations of both aha and BHA so it won't dry out your skin. I used it every day at one point. I also like the centella serum from skin 1004. Only Korean products have solved my problems. They are effective because they are not harsh and let your skin heal. I buy them from jolse at reasonable prices. Make sure they ship to your country though.
I recently added 4 new products to my routine i.e. TO Azeliac Acid, Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner, Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence, and lastly TO Organic Rose Hip Oil. I’ve used each of these a maximum of 2 times. I made sure to use these without any conflicting products. My skin has gone crazy! I have so many breakouts that won’t stop! I stopped using all other products apart from TO Niacinamide to help repair the damage. I don’t know if any of the new products are causing a purge or if any of these products don’t suit me. I should have patch tested. Someone help! 😭 Nothing is helping calm down my skin

I'm pretty sure the 'Kombucha' part of the Kombucha Tea Essence is made from fermented black tea but the product also has green tea leaf water/extract!

I am curious about the new Purito sunscreen, but heard mixed reviews about it on youtube. Some say it is a bit heavy after 2nd application throughout the day, greasy, and may give a slight white cast (which is possible, from the mineral components in it), so I am still not sure if I should buy it. I hate any hint of white cast from a sunscreen. Maybe just wait for more in depth reviews from youtube later this year.
It’s so good. I’ve been using it more since filming this and…..usually I’d feel almost guilty for not doing a proper cleanse in the morning but I don’t feel bad for using the cleansing water haha

James you should keep like a running tally of all your favorite products for each category and post it at the end of your video or something. I know you test out a shit ton of products so it's hard to know where like a moisturizer you raved about in the past compares to all the newer products you're reviewing since you can't keep using your favorites because you have to keep trying out new products. That would just be really helpful. That way we'll know how the newer products stack up to older favs and vice versa.
Because it's hard for me to know if I wanna try some of your newer products or your older favs because I don't know how they stand up next to the newer stuff.

The skin1004 serum was popular way back in 2018-2019 in Vietnam. I tried it too. But after 2 days, it gave me close comedones in my forehead. Even untill now i haven't understand why that happened, the serum itself have no irritated ingredients
No joke, I started using The Inkey List's tranexemic acid again, just to get through it. I didn't love the formula, last I tried it, because it didn't want to work with my other skincare. Well, I used it for like 8 nights (not quite in a row, but probably over around 12-14 days), and I've already noticed a bit of lightening in my dark spots. And, since that's my major skin "concern," lately, I'm definitely using it up and repurchasing. I've used tranexemic acid in other products, but I've never experienced a lightening happening THAT quickly, with any product, with any ingredients, ever. I get almost 0 sun (to the point of frequently needing high vit D supplements), and I almost always wear sunscreen during the day, even if I'm just opening my blinds, not even going out... AND I'm naturally ghostly pale. So I might be an extreme case. That's definitely not normal. I hope it continues working. 🤞🏻 I kinda plateaued with retinoids after a couple years, and I hadn't found anything that was really transforming my skin, for a pretty long while. 😣 Basically just upkeep, by keeping it hydrated and moisturised. I really hope it keeps working. 😩
you could try laser for dark spots! if all else fails. I did laser for my acne and it lightened some dark spots and also got laser on my broken capillaries and got rid of them 😊 just go to an actual dermatologist for that.

I got the tea essence and it’s changed my skin in a week. I do the two-layer method. loved it so much, I grabbed the moisturizer.
I love that oat in calming gel cream!! I didn’t expect it to be as moisturizing as it is. It’s nice for the daytime for my oily skin ❤️

I recently added 4 new products to my routine i.e. TO Azeliac Acid, Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner, Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence, and lastly TO Organic Rose Hip Oil. I’ve used each of these a maximum of 2 times. I made sure to use these without any conflicting products. My skin has gone crazy! I have so many breakouts that won’t stop! I stopped using all other products apart from TO Niacinamide to help repair the damage. I don’t know if any of the new products are causing a purge or if any of these products don’t suit me. I should have patch tested. Someone help! 😭 Nothing is helping calm down my skin

I am curious about the new Purito sunscreen, but heard mixed reviews about it on youtube. Some say it is a bit heavy after 2nd application throughout the day, greasy, and may give a slight white cast (which is possible, from the mineral components in it), so I am still not sure if I should buy it. I hate any hint of white cast from a sunscreen. Maybe just wait for more in depth reviews from youtube later this year.

It’s so good. I’ve been using it more since filming this and…..usually I’d feel almost guilty for not doing a proper cleanse in the morning but I don’t feel bad for using the cleansing water haha

James you should keep like a running tally of all your favorite products for each category and post it at the end of your video or something. I know you test out a shit ton of products so it's hard to know where like a moisturizer you raved about in the past compares to all the newer products you're reviewing since you can't keep using your favorites because you have to keep trying out new products. That would just be really helpful. That way we'll know how the newer products stack up to older favs and vice versa.
Because it's hard for me to know if I wanna try some of your newer products or your older favs because I don't know how they stand up next to the newer stuff.

I’m having trouble with pilling when using my sunscreen and I’m not sure what kind of moisturizer I should be using before.
The skin1004 serum was popular way back in 2018-2019 in Vietnam. I tried it too. But after 2 days, it gave me close comedones in my forehead. Even untill now i haven't understand why that happened, the serum itself have no irritated ingredients
No joke, I started using The Inkey List's tranexemic acid again, just to get through it. I didn't love the formula, last I tried it, because it didn't want to work with my other skincare.
Well, I used it for like 8 nights (not quite in a row, but probably over around 12-14 days), and I've already noticed a bit of lightening in my dark spots. And, since that's my major skin "concern," lately, I'm definitely using it up and repurchasing.
I've used tranexemic acid in other products, but I've never experienced a lightening happening THAT quickly, with any product, with any ingredients, ever. I get almost 0 sun (to the point of frequently needing high vit D supplements), and I almost always wear sunscreen during the day, even if I'm just opening my blinds, not even going out... AND I'm naturally ghostly pale. So I might be an extreme case. That's definitely not normal.
I hope it continues working. 🤞🏻 I kinda plateaued with retinoids after a couple years, and I hadn't found anything that was really transforming my skin, for a pretty long while. 😣 Basically just upkeep, by keeping it hydrated and moisturised. I really hope it keeps working. 😩
you could try laser for dark spots! if all else fails. I did laser for my acne and it lightened some dark spots and also got laser on my broken capillaries and got rid of them 😊 just go to an actual dermatologist for that.
