Here’s a tip…after using a color, toss the ball to the back. Always keep the working ball to the front
P.S. I adore these colors together
This is very interesting, and I'm going to make 5 squares into a hat. Thanks for sharing this idea. You are very patient with the people in the comments. I think that it's rude to call someone's creation messy when it's not messy. Maybe when they tried it, there's was messy because of the tention. People, let's try and be nicer with your comments.
Thank you so much for your support x
I love this! So different 💜💜💜
So beautiful! Thank you for this video, Nora. I can't wait to try this granny square.
You are so welcome!
I love it! Thank you so very much!
Beautiful pattern! Thank you for sharing🙏🌸💕
Prayers for your son's speedy recovery.
Thank you for your prayers. He is much better now ❤️
That will look good when all joined together.😊
I am watching the unique granny square and wondered if adding another color that could be single crocheted after every row would solve the carried strand issue. I might try that.
Yes give it a go! Let me know how it works out ❤
Beautiful pattern!! I feel this would look great as a sweater or cardigan in the colors you chose. I will be definitely making a sweater and blanket. Thank you
Thank you! 😊
I Will make a houscoat in cream gold and brown streaked with golden colour. Thanks
Sounds amazing! ❤
This would make a beautiful blanket with individual squares! Putting on my “next” list Lord willing…thank you for sharing ❤
You are so welcome!
I love how you teach your work. New subscriber
An interesting square. Thank you.
You’re welcome 😊
I like the pattern !! 😍
Oh these granny’s are another level of gorgeous! Happily subbed! 🙏💜
Thank you so much! ❤️
It’s a beautiful pattern, but the only thing I would like to have the other side nice and clean instead of the different color yarn going across the back.
If there’s another way to hide the thread in the back, that way, both sides would look nice.
Thank you! Hi yes the only way I can think of is to cut the yarn when changing colours everytime. You will have quite a few ends to tie in. If you are making a blanket eventually there will be less ends as you get bigger too.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Thank you for this tutorial. I love the look and made two versions of the two colors with the light center and dark crosses, then a dark center and light crosses. I may just use them together. I found your instructions were easy to follow and enjoyed your lovely accent.
Thank you so much ❤️
Gorgeous
Awesome, love your tutorial, lovely pattern with clear instructions

Thank you so much and you’re welcome! ❤ from the 🇬🇧 to 🇧🇷
Tip I discovered: It worked best for me to keep my lighter color always in the back and my darker color always in the front. I even brought both colors through the last hook in the changing of colors and took the color I was changing to pulling it through the opposite color it helped keep the yarn on the same level. You might give it a go and see if it works for you as well. But I loved doing it! I used it for the hood of a granny square jacket.
Love your teaching! Enjoy that grand baby when it gets here. Praying your 14 year old son feels better. Thanks once again! I did subscribe!
Thank you so much for your support. And a great tip

This is beautiful!! But you did go quite a little to fast! But i will give it a try. Thank you for this!! I really do love the design!!
Sorry! And thank you. You can slow down the video in the setting options if that helps 🤗
What yarn are you using? I really like videos that give this info😊
Hi there! I think I have mentioned DK yarn/ light no3.
My brands are different but they are the same weight as mentioned. But for this pattern you can use any yarn and hook if you are not making a baby blanket to create your project. I always leave a note in the description box too. Hope that helps
You accent is so gorgeous❤
Parabéns seus trabalhos são fantásticos ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you ❤️
Hello I'm a new subscriber nice to meet you.
Thanks for coming. Nice to meet you too! X
Can I ask which method you would use to join the squares to not interrupt the symmetry of the colour change. Thank you
The color change concept is very nice & it creates an interesting pattern. However I do agree with the other comments about the back floating yarns. It looks messy. It might take a bit of time & trial stitching, but I’ll bet there’s a way to disguise that carried yarn. Stitchers, put your thinking caps on! 😊👍☕️🍩🧶🧶
Beautiful ❤ following 🛎️
Love the colorway. Beautiful 💡
What is the company name of yarn
Stylecraft special DK
Lovely pattern… I know you’re using DK but can you tell me which brand of yarn this is. I would like to use same colours. ❤
Hi I purchased this yarn a while back and I have just checked my order history. unfortunately both of those colours do not exist anymore in their range of shades. The brand is New Fashion by Woolcraft DK. But if it helps, the stripes are like a warm peach and the neutral colours is like fawn or camel colour. Sorry I didn't think to use current yarns.
Thanks for your prompt reply…I’m sure I’ll find something similar. ❤
I agree to much of a gap and it looks messy
Praying for your family
Ever think of doing a solid granny in this fashion? And if you wanted to make into a stroller blanket. You’d just continue until desired size? And how will that affect the design?
Hi! Yes you would continue to the size you need. The width of the stripes from corner to corner would stay the the same. And the little triangles on the edges that are forming would get wider. So thinking on those lines imagine a blanket with a double lined cross running through it.
Hope that helps x
❤
Lol i think your needed I keep hearing banging 😂
🤣 That’s my teenage son! Who walks like a giant and never closes doors slowly ! Saying can you keep it quiet as I’m about to do a tutorial has no effect 🤣🤣
I am making a throw blanket. Would you block every square?
If you can block then great. Yes do all the squares. If you can’t it really doesn’t matter. When you joined just make the lines from each square match up. X
Maybe the lighting will make things different
❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can you help me? How much of each color would it take to make an afghan or blanket? I don't think I have enough. I have picasso by ice and a same size white in Caron
.I have no idea how to figure out how many yards i need.
Hi there! I’ve not made one in an Afghan size so I don’t want to give you any wrong information. However… there is a yarn calculator I always tell my followers to use at jimmybeanswool.com. If you type yarn calculator at the above address in to google it should take you straight there. I’m not able to send a link here. It’s pretty straightforward . Hope that helps
@@CrochetByNorathank you so much for a quick answer!! 😊 Do you have a video or photo of this all done? Whatever you made with it ? Would love to see it. 😊❤
No problem! That’s ok. I’m here to reply to any queries. I’m afraid I haven’t made anything with these squares yet … sorry. But I know it will look amazing ❤
❤Welcome
Hi Nora I being making this granny square from my local fair how many rows for a blanket I'm in Collingwood Ontario Canada
Hi in Ontario! I would say keep going until it measures how big you want it to be! Thats the beauty of working from the centre. Everyone’s tension is different so For a baby blanket I usually measure 28x28 inches ❤️
Front looks pretty but those long floats are bad.
Floats?
@@hattiem.7966 yeah. Knitting term more I guess. The yarn that gets floated along the back.
Did you try a 4 weight yarn? How did it perform?
I have only made these in a no3 yarn. I guess you can try other yarns with the corresponding hook 👍
Why would you carry the lighter color all around the first round? It’s better not to carry it but to just bring it up.
Yes ofcourse you can do it that way too. Whatever method you prefer. This tutorial is to show you the pattern but if you a different way to do it then that’s great! 👍
Mam a lovely square. However do becareful. Being British I have a sense of humour.
Do becareful when you say " Move your balls around so they don't get tangled") good job I am a female crocheted.❤😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
I don't like the carry over thread sitting above stitches 😊
Hi the only other way is to cut the yarn each and time and weave in the ends. But there will be a lot to weave in .
Looks great from the front of the work but I don’t like the look of the back. All those carried threads looks untidy.
Love the pattern but sorry, too little instruction for a novice and too fast.
Congratulations on being a granny lol😂
Thanks! But nearly still waiting. Any time soon ❤️
I sure can't hear you very good
Oh! Sorry you can’t hear me. Will subtitles help? You can add them from the settings
Toooo fast. Can't see or keep up. Can't go so fast.
Hi! You can slow the video down in playback options?
This is just a basic granny square, using five rounds instead of the usual 3 or 4. Sorry, nothing unique about it.
Its unique because of colour changes that create a pattern when joined to other squares
Uuuuuuugh your camera was too close
I like to bring the work closer to the camera. Most of my viewers say they prefer it
Close hence why . It is hard to please everyone .
@@CrochetByNora but you weren’t even in the shot. It’s hard to stay in screen but that close all you notice are your knuckles
👍
I agree to much of a gap and it looks messy
