Big Bang Nucleosynthesis

During the first four minutes of the Universe, it went from being Ludicrously Hot down to Crazy Hot, then to Very Hot. As it cooled, the density was dropping due to the expansion. So, it was a race: how many Helium nuclei could be formed before the universe was too cool to do H to He fusion.
