The current paradigm of Lambda-CDM Cosmology is currently being challenged by recent HST and JWST observations. What's the current paradigm? How does a new paper by Dr. Gupta of Univ. of Ottawa propose to fix it with tired light and changing cosmic constants?
I'm doing a preview video here to discuss more about this paper. I'll follow up with a much longer video detailing this new concept and potential big change to the way we view our Cosmos.
Dr. Gupta's paper: academic.oup.c...
These videos you do help me understand the universe so much better than if I was to read about it all. Thank you.
Every time Webb takes a new picture we find out that we really don't know shit about the true nature of everything, we should relax for a while and let this thing do its work, now it turns out light runs out of breath ...
Very interesting. Thank you Dr. Kendall.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice
Hey man, you need to check the work of Jean Pierre Petit on variable constant and variable speed of light. I found this very interesting and his paper was published since 1988. (He also work on a cosmologocal model (very different that lcdm) if you want to know more about him )
Thank you.
This was a 'good one' thanks Jason...
The prior few videos that you posted instantly turned my cranium into spaghetti, but this one was 'comparatively' straight forward so I now feel SLIGHTLY less 'dumb'...
Keep up the great work sir
thank you, sir. I'm signing up.
the only constants in the universe is that everything changes ...
Cool, thanks
Jason I love your stuff. What's your thoughts on the electric universe
I wish I could have met Fritz Zwiky. He did a lot of cool work, but he was apparently quite quirky.
Replacing non-Euclidian spacetime / string theory dimensions with flat 3s+1t arising solely from the electrodynamic quantum field? Relativistic effects (gravitation, changing constants / time dilation) arising simply from this..?
Hey there, sounds like you're really interested in the nature of the origin of the universe! That's great! Check out this video about the first moments of the Cosmos and how they affected all spacetime!

Does the new theory that time was slower in the past, verify tired light theory?
That is the idea of the paper, but there are SO many reasons why tired light can't exist, that this paper ends up being high-profile and interesting, but ultimately it cannot solve the Hubble Tension.
I really think they have no idea whats going on. Like something they have an idea on what's going on but for the most time the professionals have no idea. Like there's equation that's says we can see .0003 second before the big bang. Now that James webbs out and debunks all that. They push the date back 23 billion years now. We really have no idea on most of it
Yes, but that’s an advantage. In many other areas people don’t admit their mistakes and try to learn from them. In the sciences, we accept that there are a lot of things about nature that we do not understand. So what we do is try to make the best model that fits the available observations and experiments. Then we go from there. If new observations in new experiments appear that contradict the previous model then ya gotta change the model. That’s science. But if you just wanna say nobody knows anything at all under any circumstances then I’m not sure how to answer that. That seems more like a philosophy of living life rather than a philosophy of how to learn about the world.
Tired light theory does make a lot more sense than the current theory which makes less and less sense the further we look backwards through time.
There are many reasons why tired light actually won't work... I'm mixing a video about that...
19:38 I remember a guy making fun of me 20 some years ago for believing in what he mockingly called "tired light".
when you say light gets tired. do you mean it slows down? great video by the way. thanks.
It more means that light loses energy over distance, with the loss of energy proportionate to the energy of the photon. And the changing physical constants also means that it either slows down or speeds up. I'll go into greater detail; in the follow-up video.
Doubt it.
I'm putting together a follow-up on this video.... Did you see my channel update video on my page?
@@JasonKendallAstronomer YOU RESPONDED!!! NO I DIDNT!!! I WILL NOW!!! :)
Well, mostly, I’m getting a video ready….
You know you're getting old when '96 was 20 years ago. I feel you. Sigh...
