Could you list down the beaches/places under "where you go in Greece" you mentioned? You mentioned a lot but I'm unable to catch them all. Thank you :)
When I went to the Greek islands years ago, landlords would be waiting at airports and by the ferry ports, to offer accomodations to arriving tourists. I never made advance reservations for a place to stay, not even for the night of arrival - but those were pre-Airbnb days. This arrangement gave travelers a lot of flexibility regarding making their plans to island hop. My question is: is it still the same? Or would you recommend to make advance reservations for accomodations? What about the ferries: book in advance, or book once over there?
It doesn’t happen much as most people now book in advance. If you are coming in the high season, I wouldn’t come unless you have a hotel reservation as Greece is so popular now you might be sleeping on a beach. Ferry reservations are the same. If you come in late September or October then you could do this and can do it in May and possibly June.
Thank you for this advice on traveling to Greece! We are arriving to Athens early June then flying to Santorini to work our way back through Naxos and maybe Paris. Question: we land around 1pm on a Sunday . What would be a safe time for our family of 4 to schedule a flight with Aegean to Santorini? Assuming we’ll need time to process through customs and navigate the airport. Our luggage will be carry on only. Thanks in advance!
What great tips for travel to Greece! I come every year and stay at least a month, but I go to more remote islands (Northern Sporades-Alonissos/Skopelos). I’ve twice come end of August and stayed for September-including last year. But I prefer June because if you’re going remote, there are less ferries running later. Small islands also stop restocking some supplies (including restaurants) and my biggest thing is that fruits and vegetables are better earlier in summer. I can’t have gluten (surprisingly this can be unexpectedly challenging on small islands) so fresh produce is mostly the main staple of safe food for me. The tomatoes and onions are actually worth a red eye into Athens where I overnight, a flight into Skiathos (where I sometimes have to overnight too), and the ferry to Alonissos. Lol. They’re that good. I find remote travel in Greece to be a hassle, I’ve had both cancelled flights and ferries (and missed my flight home), but I will tell you it is absolutely, no doubt, worth it. It’s a dream destination. (And PS-I now try to get to Athens two days before I leave with the U.S. covid testing requirements.)

Hello Tiffany, I'm planning to go this year to Rome. Which is this easiest way to go the airport ? ( I mean by suburban or subway). It's going to be my first time outside of Greece 🤣
Is it a good time to visit during End of April? I have no plans to get into the waters but just go around the places. Will it be cold during the day or will it be warm enough to walk around?
We are going in May, want to do day trips from Athen to cities like Delhi. Is it possible to do by bus? Is it very difficult to manage? Do I need to buy bus ticket ahead of time? Is May busy season?
The bus is pretty easy. You might want to buy them the day before but there are several buses a day to Delphi. May is not the busy season in Greece. It starts to get busy in June.
I found a trip on TripAdvisor saying all day trip to agistri, moni, and Aegina. Are those islands where you need more time in Greece to see? I’m staying in Athens for my trip because I’m more of a city person but wanted to do a day cruise.
You can day trip to those places. I prefer to stay one night to really get a feel for the place but you don't have to. Moni requires you to go to Aegina first as Moni is a nature preserve and the boats leave from Aegina and I don't think you can camp on the island.
Not for the Acropolis. You could go the day before you want to get to be sure if you want. Ferry tickets, I say yes. Especially if you have already booked your hotels. No need to wait really. Here is who I use, www.ferryhopper.com/en/?aff_uid=grlps
Should I plan and get ferries prepared for a trip I have planned later this year? Or I just need to get the flights done and get to the islands and from there finding a ferry and getting a ticket isn’t a hassle? Or will the price be different if I find them now versus later?
Depends on when you are coming. If it is August, book now. September might be good to book now too. Ferry tickets don’t really change when booking in advance.
@@agirlandherpassport plan on doing a few days In Athens and spend the rest of my time in naxos, Paros and Ios, because they’re all so close to each other. Thinking maybe fly to naxos from Athens and do the ferries for the rest of course. I plan on going last week of September !

Hi, Each ferry operator has their own schedule so it isn't all in one place. However, there are ferry booking websites that you can look at to see what your options are. I use Ferry Hopper, www.ferryhopper.com/en/?aff_uid=grlps Hope that helps!
@@agirlandherpassport Thanks for the help. We would like to do island hoping next year. That why I ask the questions. Do you think it's possible? We want to see Santorini, Milos, Rhodes, Myconos. We are going for 10 days.
It’s hard to hop between island chains so Rhodes would be hard to do by ferry. You would have to fly and not all islands are connected by plane. 10 days isn’t really enough time to see all that either. I would stay in the Cyclades only and do Rhodes another time.
How are the beaches, crowds and climate in march/april. My fiance and I are going there march 25-april 9. Are a lot of the businesses (ferries, restaurants) mostly open during that time?

@@ivansantosa4450 The water is still going to be chilly so I am not sure you will want to swim. Also, Santorini will be very quiet. Check the ferry schedules for Santorini. It is a lot to fit in a such a short period of time especially considering how far apart all the places you are visiting are so far apart. Also driving to Corfu will take some time plus an hour on the ferry to Corfu. Just something to keep in mind.

This video was so helpful ❤
Glad to hear that!
Hi Tiffany
Can i get the Santorini E book
I Live in the UK.
There is a link in the description. 😊
We are going in May, do we need to prebook tickets of acropolis and the ferry tickets between islands before arriving?
@@agirlandherpassport also is there still a decent party scene in Ios in end of September? I don’t need a crazy but I don’t mind a little bit of partying lol.
@@jewfro888 If you know what dates you are going, I would book now.
@@jewfro888 I honestly don't know. Not my scene and they don't start till after midnight and I am usually not out.
Big fan of Crete, just IMHO, lots to do and see
It is so big so it is worth spending a lot of time there n
@@agirlandherpassport yes and it has the beaches, resorts, mountains, history, food, villages, #REALGREECE that everyone seems to be craving when going to Greece, then they want to go to Santorini, which is none of those things.
Well Santorini has them but not in the places that people go there. But Crete has a lot more of it that is for sure.
traveling with kids 3 year and 1 year old from US first week of October, do we need car seats in Athens or any of the islands. please advise Any other recommendations for week time with kids
I don't know. I don't have kids so I don't know the rules. What are you wanting to do?

To use ATMs for cash, is it better to use your bank debit card or credit card?
Using your debit card is best as the interest rate for pulling out cash can be high.
Do we tip the same in Athens as we do in US?
You can tip about 10%. But if you are inclined to leave that’s okay too!
Hi, I just wanted to know where can I get a ferry program?
Thanks
Corne
@@agirlandherpassport Thanks a lot for all the info.
@@cornekleynhanscornekleynha6842 You're welcome!
What is the best way to find and book a flight?
I like to book directly. I assume you are asking for in Greece, so check Aegean Airlines or SkyExpress.
@@agirlandherpassport oops, yes. To Greece (from cali though). Thank you.
Not sure from Cali. I would check Rome2Rio for the airlines that fly from Cali.
How many days to do Athens thoroughly?
Thoroughly? Five. That is if you want to see all the sites and not be exhausted.
"If you really want to go wild, come for 14 days..." How wild am I? I'm going to Greece twice a year for 6-7 weeks each time 🙂
The wildest!! I think it’s awesome.
To transfer from island to another island is easy and accessible?
Have you ever visited neighboring Turkey?
Yes, but a few years before I came to Greece
Thank you so much
You’re welcome!
I sent this to my coworker
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate that.
How are the beaches, crowds and climate in march/april. My fiance and I are going there march 25-april 9. Are a lot of the businesses (ferries, restaurants) mostly open during that time?
The beaches will not be crowded as most people do not swim that early and there are not many tourists yet. Where are you going to in Greece?
@@agirlandherpassport We are planning to go to santorini (2 days) rhodes (2days) Crete (3 days) fly back to athens (2-3 days) drive to corfu, kefalonia (3days)
@@agirlandherpassport would it better to go to corfu next time? I want to be able to squeeze like 2 days in Istanbul if the water will too chilly.
If it were me, this is what I would do. Athens, Santorini and Crete. Crete is massive and you will regret not staying longer. You could squeeze in Rhodes but I wouldn’t try to do another country will all the testing you may or may not need.
is armogos a good island to visit ?
I haven't been but I have heard amazing things!!
Hi beautiful what about May? Is that good? Take care
May is nice but the water will still be chilly if you want to swim. But it’s not too hot yet so it’s nice and no crowds yet!!
@@agirlandherpassport thank you!!

Hi! Do you need a International Driver’s license to rent a ATV in Greece?
I am not sure. I would ask the rental company?
How's Greece in the month of May
It’s nice. It won’t be hot though so if you are wanting to swim, it might be best to come in June.
Hi, I just wanted to know if you can recommend a private transport company from Rhodes aIirport going to plimmiri??
I use Welcome Pickups all the time and they offer service in Rhodes. Here is a link, www.welcomepickups.com/rhodes/airport-transfer-book/?tap_a=38366-7f3d6c&tap_s=2082833-652438
What about if you want to see cool scenery like monasteries in the mountains??
You can head to Meteora for some very cool monasteries! And many islands have monasteries on mountains too.
Hello I have a question I’m confused if I’m going to visit Greece in September 2022 do I need visa to this country???
It depends on where you are from.
From USA
@@lenabaza7985 No, you don’t need a visa
Do I need to fill out anything online?? Like when we got to Dominican we filed out some applications?
No, there is nothing to fill out
when is a non tourist season for Santorini
The off season is October to April. I would go close the season though as many things close there in winter.

I did say luxury experience! It is worth it to go once to see it.
@@agirlandherpassport I mean not VFM. Sure geologically is a very interesting place (an underwater cave, world's lengthiest underwater tunnel, a possible link with the aegean volcanic arc etc) but as a swimmer you don't get to see much since all that "magic" happens underwater.
@@giannistatsiopoulos331 No, you don't and they have it roped off. I can only imagine that it is too big a risk to let people do it. Do you know if they have explored the cave much?
