- You can love it, you can hate it, but there's one thing you can't deny: Wham!'s hit "Last Christmas"! is an iconic piece of music history - and one of the most successful Christmas songs ever. At least as iconic: The music video filmed in a romantic mountain cottage. But where is this house actually located? And where were the wintry scenes filmed? Let's go to Switzerland and let's find out.

There is also a sculpture in the village entitled “Last Christmas”. It’s a shame I can’t add my photos to this post.
I use to work at Ponderosa steakhouse in Watford, and Shirley from Wham worked there as well. One day I got electrocuted from changing a light bulb and I was thrown onto the floor in the kitchen, Shirley came in and helped me off the floor. George, Andrew and Pepsi use to come into the restaurant to meet her when she finished work. I remember after Shirley left Ponderosa in the summer of 1982 she came back into the restaurant and told us their single is coming out the following week, most of us brought the single. The last time I saw Shirley she was with Andrew Ridgeley in British Home stores trying hats out, we spoke for about half hour then I never saw them again. I miss working at Ponderosa and I miss Shirley she was an amazing woman. I would swap anything to go back to those days.
Im 54 now and i loved Wham in the 80s. Of course the song is famous but it wasn’t until yesterday that i actually saw the video for the first time, i presume i must of watched it way back then but i really didn’t recognise it. Switzerland is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the vlog.

Pal, this is absolutely fantastic!! You've made my dream come true with this video! Many thanks to you! I've never seen a more beautiful and picturesque place in the whole world. Unsurprisingly, Andy Morahan couldn't have chosen a better place for shooting Last Christmas video back in October 1984! It's very sad though George Michael was 21 years old at that time and now is dead. Let's remember him eternally...

In 1980 spend 4 weeks in Saas Fee during winter. As i remember the hitel you checked in is the same i was in, still remember the night of 31.12.80 when at 3 am an alam waked me up and all hotelguest had to go out cause in the hotelbar started a fire. Without knowing also passed on a walk the house where last Christmas was filmed 5 years later. Was the best winterholydays in my life. First love, first black pist of skiing, hotel on fire , fly an dc9.

Thanks for showing us where the video was filmed. I don't think I have even actually seen the video. This year DEC 2023 LAST CHRISTMAS was voted number 1 on the UK Christmas charts which is something wham didn't manage to do when it came out because it was Bob Geldof's band aid song Feed the World which beat them to the top slot

Saas Fee ist mein "zweites Zuhause", weshalb ich alle Infos vorher schon wusste.
Ich habe 2 Ergänzungen:
1. Es gibt so weit ich weiß einen einzigen Hinweis vorort, dass das Video dort gedreht wurde. Dieser Hinweis befindet sich auf einer kleinen Infotafel auf dem Minigolfplatz.
2. Bis vor ein paar Jahren standen die alten Kabinen der Felskinnbahn noch da rum: die rote Kabine stand an einem Hotel/Restaurant am Sportplatz und die blaue Kabine stand oben am Ende des Panoramalifts (= Skilift: Längfluh hochfahren)
Es war echt schön Saas Fee mal aus einer anderen Perspektive zu betrachten 😇👍🏻

I went to Saas Fee skiing this week, and visited the house and saw it clearly from the path in front of the house, and saw the updated but very similar lift featured in the original video, not a completely different lift looking like a “space shuttle”. There is also a sculpture in the village entitled “Last Christmas”. It’s a shame I can’t add my photos to this post.

Thanks for the tour and the great pictures. I always thought it was filmed in the Aspen Colorado area for some reason. It’s too bad the main house was hidden by the trees. Last Christmas and that beautiful melancholy melody sounds even more haunting now since George passed away.

Really interesting, famously I thought George and Andrew really did get on, the reason I say this George gave Andrew writing credits on the songs, so he would always get royalties
They did get on and were best friends. They were just required to spend a lot of time together which can be tiresome after a while. In interviews George has said he wouldn’t have wanted anyone but Andrew there with him.
