My favorite DnD character of mine is also a character I HEAVILY associate with this song too. Her name was Alyn. Fencer, Charlatan, and Theatre Performer extraordinaire. Secretly an heir to a famous seafaring dynasty but grew up in a foreign port city never knowing her parents until stumbling upon papers and a signet ring that she was supposed to receive but ran away from her church-orphanage before she was old enough to receive it. The campaign ended satisfyingly after 4 years and she reclaimed her birthright. I associate Alyn with this song A LOT not only because of her maritime background and themes but because of Ship In A Bottle's mental illness analogies. She was this angsty pessimistic bard who kept to herself which is quite the reflection of my mental state at the time. In the span of the 4 years the campaign ran, both me and her slowly grew out of our negative world view and pessimistic demeanor. Partly because I got to explore and examine me and aspects of myself through her. I still struggle with mental illness but I will always associate Alyn with me getting better.
One of my main DnD character's can also relate to this. She's a former ship's captain who lost her crew after a fierce battle. She struggles a lot with depression due to the loss, the imagery of seeing herself stood on the deck of the ship all alone, losing her mind, is pretty much how I pictured the shit she goes through each day. Also helps that she's also a redhead and loves to sing lol
Verse 1] You can fit everything you know In a bottle for you to show Pick your brain apart and put it in (pick your brain apart) And build it again with needles and pins Everything you have earned is a ship With blue waves crashing into it But nothing can touch your happy thoughts anymore (nothing can touch your happy thoughts anymore) With your glass ceiling, walls, and floor [Pre-Chorus] Sailing on a ship in a bottle Anchor all your thoughts to the bottom Pulling ropes and pulling your head back To see what is breaking the foremast You set sail alone, there is no crew No one on the deck who can help you This is all your own battle to win This is your ship, and you are the captain [Chorus] Oh, captain, let's make a deal Where we both say the things that we both really feel I feel scared and I'm starting to sink And I only sink deeper the deeper I think [Post-Chorus] Oh, captain, oh, captain, deal Oh, captain deal, oh, captain deal Oh woah [Verse 2] There are red spots under your eyes From when you cry into the sky Ocean waters rising above your neck (ocean waters) You feel the glass start to crack Call Me What You Like Lovejoy [Pre-Chorus] Sailing on a ship in a bottle Water's leaking through holes in the bottom Flying flags of ships that have long since Sat at the floor of the sea, but in defense You set sail alone, there is no crew No one on the deck who can help you This is all your own battle to win This is your ship and you are the captain [Chorus 2] Oh, captain, let's make a deal Where we both say the things that we both really feel I feel scared and I'm starting to sink And I only sink deeper the deeper I think Oh, captain, make up your mind Before the salt burns your eyes and you run out of time 'cause you're popping the cork, you get lost in your brain And you lose touch with all the things that made you feel sane [Post-Chorus] Oh, captain, oh, captain, deal Oh, captain deal, oh, captain deal Oh woah [Bridge] Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh [Chorus 2] Oh, captain, let's make a deal Where we both say the things that we both really feel I feel scared and I'm starting to sink And I only sink deeper the deeper I think Oh, captain, make up your mind Before the salt burns your eyes and you run out of time 'cause you're popping the cork, you get lost in your brain And you lose touch with all the things that made you feel sane [Post-Chorus] Oh, captain, oh, captain, deal Oh, captain deal, oh, captain deal Oh woah [Outro] Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh

favorite character I've played? a necromancer who quite literally was held together by necromancy. and bailing twine. He would get hit with an ax and got his sternum split and just kinda magic it back into place to keep going.
One of my favorite songs and you sung it so well!!!!! My old D&D character Lemmy was a shop owner whose family was kidnapped and held hostage. The group that kidnapped them needed sacrifices to bring back a group of deities. Lemmy went to save their family, but ended up making a deal to bring back people to use as a sacrifice in order to spare their family. Lemmy signed a contract saying "Every month, you will bring back at least 1 person alive or dead to an undisclosed location for someone to pick up (The group gave Lemmy's a list of fake names to ask around for when they have the person/people). If they are dead, they have to have died within 7 days in order for their body to still be useful. If you bring back more then one person, they will be used to the following month (Ex: if you bring back 5 people in one month, then you don't have to bring back anyone for that month and the following 4 months). If you fail to bring back a person or die doing so, your family will be put in their place." The group put a makeshift tracker in Lemmy's neck and tell them that they will be working with them till all of the deities are back or till Lemmy dies. Lemmy met the rest of the party trying to kill one of their members but failed and ended up joining them in order to get more people to sacrifice.
Just found out about this song a few hours ago. Always loved the original and now I have another fantastic version to listen to for hours on end without stopping.
CONGRATS ON 50K!! And I'm in LOVE with this cover!! I swear you have access to my playlist, I've been obsessed with this song the past week!! Also, A: My favorite story from DnD is when our party approached a castle in a far away realm, and we were trying to figure out how to get in. We tried for a good 20 minutes, using grappling hooks, trying to burn it down, and eventually attempting to serenade the door. Our DM at the time was just laughing at us the entire time because all we had to do was knock on the door and it would open for us. And later in the story how we had entered a dance battle and me and my friend literally got up and did the Lumity grom dance from The Owl House together that we had memorized lol
love your voice-so powerful and emotional not only here but working with Anna P and others. My favorite D&D character was a dwarf fighter/defender (subclass) who gave half his intelligence to his wife who was transformed by an evil wizard of Thay into a war pig. I loved role playing him with low smarts and grunts and after several years real time the party finally killed him and ended the curse. She was transformed and the first time him spoke in normal talk, the party hit the floor! continued success....
This is amazing! I love this version!! It is amazing! This version of the song works for an oc of mine who I've been using as a vent character who's turned into a persona. It shows the same story but a different story at the same time. Like imma ramble a tad bit. This is in a way showing a side of someone who's found the person who's cracked that bottle without harming them and the "captain" is fighting and keeps trying to bottling it up in the broken glass bottle. But in the end with the bottle being in shatterd pieces pieces of there childhood, past loves, and friends who've hurt them all over the floor. But that person who cracked it helps heal them. Helps the captain heal the wounds they never caused. Helping them. Be better but. This is only after the bottle cracking. Them hearing the Captains' story, seeing the pains others have caused. Hearing them say the depression was saying you have to bottle it up. Them cracking. In tears, all the scars, all the traumas shown. And showing the Captain the love they never gave themselves
I found this song through an OC animatic earlier this year and I’m absolutely in love with it, mainly since I heavily associate it with a Splatoon AU I’m currently making that is dreadfully precious to me- and this cover fits it perfectly❤
Oh my hod i was onsessed with this song a coiple years ago and searched ages for a female and cover and couldnt find any - this is soooo good tysm for this ❤❤❤❤
Oh my gosh someone is doing something with this song!!! Heck yeah!!! I love this song so much! It reminds me of Ranger's Apprentice specifically book 3!
This is such a great song and I don't see people using it or singing it enough, so I love that you've decided to make this great cover of it! I only started playing DND recently, but I hope one day to have many fun stories to tell in the future!
I made a black half-dragon pirate with a Chaotic Neutral alignment for a campaign and my DM brought him back as a seasoned NPC/PC in a campaign awhile after. The campaign followed a Triton/Teifling with the task of protecting and raising one of the last Dragons in a semi-steampunk sort of western setting where most fae were extirpated and races were victim to genocide (A very fun premise). Eirynn was stumbled upon after a run-in with some really stacked city guards. (Guy leaped down a roof since the guards had cornered us and cut them down with two cutlasses. Trust me, it sounds cliché but man it was an extraordinary save.) Lexori (My triton-teifling) was then tested by him to test her in strength, willpower and knowledge. I like to think the sequence would be scored by this. Super fun. 12/10
hey @Chloe Breez, would you mind if I used some of your music in my DND campaign, I record and I upload it on the occasion! Of course I'd give you credit in said video's but wanted to be sure with you first!
When the video started I wasn't sure if I was going to vibe with the key change. By the end of you singing the first verse, I was instantly in love! Amazing cover! This is a bit cheating, but my favorite characters were two NPCs I played while DMing a solo campaign for my friend who played an elf named Osmorn. Their names were Cosmo (a human) and Jaz'mez (an aasimar) who were both henchman sent by the BBEG to give his character a fighting chance (the BBEG was kinda unhinged and may have caused all of them and himself to get afflicted with some variant of The Death Curse). Their relationship started out very tenuous and out of necessity, but then they all grew to mutually respect each other after dealing with the BBEG. Early on, Osmorn found out Cosmo was once part of a wealthy family called The Devilles. Cosmo's parents were assassinated when he was a child by a rival family named The Thempkins and his fortune was stolen. Fortunately, Jaz'mez found him and raised him in their absence. But turns out that wasn't the full story. The Thempkins had been working with a demigod named Tritus who sent disguised angels to kill Cosmo's parents (one of those angels being Jaz'mez). Months afterward, Jaz'mez felt so guilty about it that she abandoned Tritus, tracked down Cosmo, and took care of him ever since. The dynamic they had with Osmorn ended up working naturally and organically. All of them had the issue of hiding/running from their problems. Cosmo deluded himself into believing that he never lost his fortune and needed help accepting that. Jaz'mez couldn't bare to tell Cosmo the truth about his parents and couldn't find it within herself to do it. And Osmorn had been running from his humanity and his past by relentlessly pursuing knowledge and working to best the most powerful foes.
So, this version definitely put a huge image in my head. True damage for the beats and stuff of the song. KDA for all the woman voices and pentakill for the guitar part. Kayle, Qiyana and Kaisa (for example) as the lead voices, and the rest of the groups doing the back tracks.
This cover defintiely made me think of Miss Fortune and Gangplank I can't lie Like this song is a perfect montage song of her taking revenge for her mother
If I hadn't known the original song, I would have definitely loved this a lot more. It's really great! Sadly for me it's missing that bit of hopeful desparation (not sure how to describe it, I'm sorry) that I really fell in love with. Great cover tho! Your voice is beautiful.
As someone who heard this version first.and then tried to give the original a go, I like this more. Maybe the original gets better as it goes on but for some reason I couldn't make it past the first chorus for the same reason you gave. It's like we are mirror opposites, lol. This is such an excellent song in general, with so much raw emotion and personal meaning to draw from it.
@@18thcenturyfan Yeah, we really are somewhat opposites. It's interesting. ^^ But yeah, I really love this song too. It has a beautiful melody and just so much meaning. For me it's one of those "gets you through a tough day, or makes a happy day even better" songs. What about you?
@@krisztinailles5620 Late reply, but for me it helped me process some grief on the anniversary of a friend's self-exit from life. My interpretation is that the song is about denial and compartmentalization, and how hard it is to deal with when the compartmentalization comes apart. I kept all of my thoughts of my friend in a "ship in a bottle" (so to speak), and the anniversary made me feel like the glass was cracking and I was sinking. Discovering this song on the day of my friend's anniversary felt like a message from my friend to process my grief. It would've been so like her because we were in a DBT group together and she would've wanted me to process my grief... instead of keeping it and the memories of her locked away.
@@18thcenturyfan I'm.. really sorry that happened. Songs like these really are powerful though, if fate is really something more intended, then I'm sure this was no coincidence either. I know loss is hard, and you can't completely heal from it, but I hope whatever is to come for you, you'll have a good future. I think your friend is watching over you, so make sure you live a good life, alright?
I'm going literally insane. For the past month my favorite singers on yt have been posting covers of some of my favorite songs, and EVERY TIME I see it in my recommended I let out a gasp like I just joined the EGOT club
There were 2 characters I'd say shared the title of my favorite DND character, one, was a halfling rogue called Cheechi Gohblyn, his gimmick was that he was pretending to be a goblin, smothering himself in green paint, etc. He was a kleptomaniac, which equal part got us in trouble and helped us out, depending on how good the sleight of hand roll was, it was a lot of fun. The second was for a fallout campaign, basically an homage to spaghetti westerns, a rogue (I chose rogue because it syncs well with the dex build I was running to maximize gun damage) Desert ranger, Named Paul. It was revealed a while later that one of the NPCs we'd killed for a quest, one that was relatively early on, was Paul's Daughter, so that kind of set him on a path of realization and kickstarted a whole ass character arc. I liked them both equally so I couldn't really decide which one was truly my favorite.
it really makes one think about what they're doing in their life... i need to say what i feel to those i still can, at least sometimes, then again sometimes i shouldn't say how i feel... for goodness sake, live, but don't just leave the wheel to anyone. the devil might just steer you into the monsters. Jesus take the wheel of my ship.
YOO THIS IS SO COOL! I was about to be like, “how have I not seen this before?” Then I realized the release date. Anyways, this is so cool and I love your voice!
my favorite has to be the kalashtar grave domain cleric of the raven queen i currently play. ive played 3 different versions of her in the multiverse our campaigns are set in. she goes by Raven. but her name is rayna. thanks to events of the previous campaign and her use of the wing of ruin. (homebrew infinity gauntlet) her soul got split across the multiverse ending with multiple fragments. shes currently fighting for her plane against people who have locked up the god of life, trying to save the raven queen from her true death. and matching wits with vecna in order to save the woman she loves. there have also been hints throughout the campaign of a deeper connection between her and the raven queen than we thought. that maybe the wing of ruin wasnt what fragmented her, but maybe just maybe she was already a fragment of the raven queen herself. or maybe the raven queen is the orignal copy.

Verse 1]
You can fit everything you know
In a bottle for you to show
Pick your brain apart and put it in (pick your brain apart)
And build it again with needles and pins
Everything you have earned is a ship
With blue waves crashing into it
But nothing can touch your happy thoughts anymore (nothing can touch your happy thoughts anymore)
With your glass ceiling, walls, and floor
[Pre-Chorus]
Sailing on a ship in a bottle
Anchor all your thoughts to the bottom
Pulling ropes and pulling your head back
To see what is breaking the foremast
You set sail alone, there is no crew
No one on the deck who can help you
This is all your own battle to win
This is your ship, and you are the captain
[Chorus]
Oh, captain, let's make a deal
Where we both say the things that we both really feel
I feel scared and I'm starting to sink
And I only sink deeper the deeper I think
[Post-Chorus]
Oh, captain, oh, captain, deal
Oh, captain deal, oh, captain deal
Oh woah
[Verse 2]
There are red spots under your eyes
From when you cry into the sky
Ocean waters rising above your neck (ocean waters)
You feel the glass start to crack
Call Me What You Like
Lovejoy
[Pre-Chorus]
Sailing on a ship in a bottle
Water's leaking through holes in the bottom
Flying flags of ships that have long since
Sat at the floor of the sea, but in defense
You set sail alone, there is no crew
No one on the deck who can help you
This is all your own battle to win
This is your ship and you are the captain
[Chorus 2]
Oh, captain, let's make a deal
Where we both say the things that we both really feel
I feel scared and I'm starting to sink
And I only sink deeper the deeper I think
Oh, captain, make up your mind
Before the salt burns your eyes and you run out of time
'cause you're popping the cork, you get lost in your brain
And you lose touch with all the things that made you feel sane
[Post-Chorus]
Oh, captain, oh, captain, deal
Oh, captain deal, oh, captain deal
Oh woah
[Bridge]
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
[Chorus 2]
Oh, captain, let's make a deal
Where we both say the things that we both really feel
I feel scared and I'm starting to sink
And I only sink deeper the deeper I think
Oh, captain, make up your mind
Before the salt burns your eyes and you run out of time

Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh my gosh someone is doing something with this song!!! Heck yeah!!! I love this song so much! It reminds me of Ranger's Apprentice specifically book 3!
Awesome cover! Also, sounds like it was a pretty fun campaign you were in.
Yooo i was obsessed with this song last year!! So cool to see a cover of it!! :D
That's soooo good! You killed it! Wohoooo!
this is so good I always love this song so ty for making a cover of it
What a good day for my RUclips mix to give me a new addition! I adore this song, but I've never heard yours before. It's positively lovely
This is such a great song and I don't see people using it or singing it enough, so I love that you've decided to make this great cover of it! I only started playing DND recently, but I hope one day to have many fun stories to tell in the future!
I looooooove this song! Super excited about the cover :)
Just listened to annapanstu's waiting on a miracle cover and then this. What a seemless transfer into villainy.... XD
Beautiful, absolutely wonderous music to my ears
I made a black half-dragon pirate with a Chaotic Neutral alignment for a campaign and my DM brought him back as a seasoned NPC/PC in a campaign awhile after.
The campaign followed a Triton/Teifling with the task of protecting and raising one of the last Dragons in a semi-steampunk sort of western setting where most fae were extirpated and races were victim to genocide (A very fun premise).
Eirynn was stumbled upon after a run-in with some really stacked city guards. (Guy leaped down a roof since the guards had cornered us and cut them down with two cutlasses. Trust me, it sounds cliché but man it was an extraordinary save.)
Lexori (My triton-teifling) was then tested by him to test her in strength, willpower and knowledge.
I like to think the sequence would be scored by this. Super fun. 12/10
hey @Chloe Breez, would you mind if I used some of your music in my DND campaign, I record and I upload it on the occasion! Of course I'd give you credit in said video's but wanted to be sure with you first!
Go for it!
This cover defintiely made me think of Miss Fortune and Gangplank I can't lie
Like this song is a perfect montage song of her taking revenge for her mother
@@DeixisDawnbringer I agree. My comment got posted on the wrong video
OH MY GOSH I HAVE BEEN WANTING THIS FOR YEARS!
just found you but omg your voice is amazing
I love this! I found this song on spotify and was obsessed. This cover is amazing ❤
But yeah, I really love this song too.
I love this song
This song cover turned out great
I'm going literally insane. For the past month my favorite singers on yt have been posting covers of some of my favorite songs, and EVERY TIME I see it in my recommended I let out a gasp like I just joined the EGOT club
AhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SO GOOD
There were 2 characters I'd say shared the title of my favorite DND character, one, was a halfling rogue called Cheechi Gohblyn, his gimmick was that he was pretending to be a goblin, smothering himself in green paint, etc.
I like your performance better than the original one. That backing track sounds awesome too. Great job and congrats on 50k, Chloe!
I like this version tbh
Ooh I like this 🎉❤
Amazing, love you version.
Immediate chills

rAHHHHHHH YESSSSSS I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH

This goes hard
Great cover!
Amazing!
So Good!!!
it really makes one think about what they're doing in their life...
i need to say what i feel to those i still can, at least sometimes, then again sometimes i shouldn't say how i feel... for goodness sake, live, but don't just leave the wheel to anyone. the devil might just steer you into the monsters. Jesus take the wheel of my ship.
Potential cover ideas:
•Children of the Sun, Night Queen and Star Sky by Two Steps from Hell and Merethe Soltvedt.
This song is so beautiful 🧑🍳💋
Cool!
AUDIBLY GASPED WHEN I SAW THIS ON MY FEED I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUHCHVHEJSBFHFJDN /POS /VVPOS
Beautiful cover! However, R.I.P to the original artists “captain deal” that made it sound like “captain dio”. The Jojo community will never forget
hellOo do all the female singers on youtube have a direct feed to my playlists??
Wtf I just watched an animatic for this song how did you know
50K 🎉🎉🎉
